Apple updates Airport for All Core 2 Duo Laptops.

AirPort Update 2006-002 improves AirPort compatibility in the following computers:
• MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo)
• MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo)
• MacBook (13-inch Core 2 Duo)
You may download this update from the Software Update in your computer or here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportupdate2006002.html
After applying this update myself, it did not resolve the wireless issue I'm having at my university campus.

I managed to get 100% connectivity with my Core 2 Duo MacBook working flawlessly with my Airport Extreme router, and I'll tell you how.
After installing the latest Airport update, I did the following:
1.) I reset my router to it's default settings. I am using an Airport Extreme.
2.) I connected to the default settings, and tested bandwidth. Perfect.
3.) I ran Airport Setup Assistant (Applications/Utilities/Airport Setup Assistant), and configured my network with the settings below:
-WEP 128 encryption, with a 13-character password (mine was all letters)
-I changed the network's name from what it was to a new one
-I added OpenDNS's IP: 208.67.222.222
I restarted it, and tested the bandwidth again, getting the same results as with the unencrypted test!
So far no issues, having the other computers connected doesn't appear to weaken the signal or cause a dropout. Still getting a much more stable result.
I am now going to attempt to add the port forwarding settings I previously had in there, as well as the access list.

  • RAM For Apple MacBook 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch DDR3)

What is the maximum Memory (RAM) supports for  Apple MacBook 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch DDR3) -
is it 4GB (2GB in each slots) or 8GB (4GB in each slots)

OWC at http://www.macsales.com says you can access 8GB and for macbook further says:
How to you ensure your MacBook/MacBook Pro can address 8GB of RAM
Check the Boot ROM Version in your System Profiler at this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
MacBook Pros with a Model ID of MacBookPro5,1 should have a Boot ROM Version of MBP51.007E.B05.
MacBooks with a Model ID of MacBook5,1 should have a Boot ROM version of MB51.007D.B03
Machines with other Model IDs are not affected and don't need an update.

  • Does Apple sell memory for Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (21.5-inch - DDR3) Late 2009 anymore?

I have a 21.5-inch, late 2009 iMac (Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo [21.5-inch - DDR3]) and I need more memory for it. Currently, I have the standard 4GB memory for it (2X2). I wanted to know if Apple makes memory for my model iMac anymore. Thanks!

Buy your ram from either Crucial http://www.crucial.com or OWC http://eshop.macsales.com.
Apple probably still sells ram for your iMac but you'll pay twice the prince and get less for it.

  • Apple iMac 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (24-inch), how much ram?

How much RAm can i add into a Apple iMac 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (24-inch), anyone know?

And I do not see any specifications for a White iMac with a 24" screen that is 2.33GHz.
    But now I found it...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP28
You have what normally would have been a 2.16GHz model but with the made to order 2.33GHz upgrade. Memory is...
    1GB (2x512MB) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300), supports up to 3GB
officially. You have two slots, each supporting up to a 2GB RAM but officially Apple says 3Gigs is the max. Which is an odd number because normally I would expect to see something like 2Gig based on having 1G rams available at the time. However, since they spec 3GB that would imply that 2GB RAMs were around at the time, but they still specifically say the machine can only have 3GB (2GB + 1GB).
Many older systems can support more ram than their official specs due to larger RAMs being released after the support for testing new RAM was done. Apple specifically limiting you to a single 2GB RAM with the other having to be 1GB would seem to indicate there IS an issue with supporting a pair of 2GB rams.
So you can very safely go from 2GB to 3GB by replacing one of the 1Gig modules with a 2GB module. However I can't say for sure if it would work to go to 4GB or not.

  • Difficulty updating iMac 5,1 (Core 2 Duo, 10.6.0)

I'm trying to update my iMac to 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 to get support for the Magic Trackpad.
It's a Core 2 Duo model "5,1" with 160GB of free disk space, and running Snow Leopard 10.6.0.
Software update shows nothing, which is weird in itself.
I've also tried installing all of these, and they all fail at the stage where you select the disk. They all say "Mac OS X Update Combined" can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
    1. 10.6.5 Combo
    2. 10.6.4 Combo
    3. 10.6.1 delta update
I used the links in this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS_X_Snow_Leopard#Releasehistory

If you go to the Apple menu and select About this Mac, click on the version number and it will give a build. Post what the build number is.

  • Memory leak in airport process on Core 2 Duo MBP?

    Hello!
I'm having a problem with my MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (15"). It was slowing down rather rapidly after boot, so I pulled up Activity Monitor and found that the process "airport" had consumed 1.3G of Real Memory and 2G of Virtual Memory, plus 100% of the % CPU. I killed the process and it goes back to normal (importantly, without any impact on the wireless networking).
If I shut the screen and start it up again, it relaunches the airport process and it eats up the memory and processor all over again.
Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? I've already repaired the permissions.

  • Qosmio G30-189 BIOS Update to support Intel Core 2 Duo ( MEROM )

    Hello !
Can you tell when Toshiba will release a BIOS Update to support the new intel core 2 duo mobile cpu.
The actual BIOS 1.4 does not recognize the new cpu type.
As Toshiba delivers a core 2 duo based qosmio in USA G35-650 a bios should be availble.
For sure I now that this makes the gurantee go away.
    Please help.
    Greetings
    Marcus Reichert

Hmm, yes sure - i work in IT and I think I repaired 5000 notebooks ... I am certainly not mad at you !
I am happy that anyone answeres me ....
So, I have here an Qosmio G30-145 and the G30-189 - they are absolutely identical.
Only the Video Ram is smaller and a different CPU is inserted.
In the US there is the G35-650 - also nearly the same - and this uses a creo 2 duo.
Be sure Toshiba will not build different units - they just change the name and include some minor changes to config ( pal and ntsc etc. )
You will be sure to see a G30 with Core 2 Duo very soon here in europe or germany and then bang - it will be the same hardware with a different bios - I BET !!!
Yes, I know the power Saving Tool and I agree with you in all points.
BUT windows XP, Linux and Vista do also habe power schemes and controll the fans - the Toshiba tolls adds only more features.
I think the actual bios accepts now the core 2 duo, but still has problems with the power scheme - Intel says the CPUs are nearly comaptible.
I have tested Core 2 Duos, Asus and other - no problem at all.
I think if we wait we get a bios which fixes all, problem is I need it know.
    Have a nice weekend
    Marcus

  • How/Where can I find the 802n enabler for my core 2 duo imac?

I have a 24" iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo. I want to be able to use an 802.11n router. I have read that to use the new Airport Extreme base you need something called the 802n enabler. Where can I get it?

Well the new Airport Extreme and Apple TV are both shipping in February (which in Apple terms usually means end of the month). So I would expect to see 'n' Apple products actually in users hands in early March.
The software to enable 'n' in Apple computers probably won't be avaiable before then.

YOU HAVE UPDATES!"  for quicktime and itunes.. problem is when i tell it to update the window just flickers.. it will not update, nor will it let me manually update quicktime.. i previously fixed itunes as it also had an issue letting me manually add/remove itunes.. i barely got that fixed.. but i can now manually update itunes.. however i need help locating all the files for apple support update software so that i can re-install it, and perhaps the same information for quicktime, as again i cannot manually install or remove quicktime period right now..
nothing shows up in ccleaner, pc clean up or even when i run sfc /scannow in cmd..
i'm so tired of dealing with these problems.. some help would be awesome.. thank you.

okay so after a lonnng day.. this is where i remain stuck: my apple software update says i need too update too 11.1.3 and i already have it installed.. if i tell it too install it'll go through the downloading and installing too just end up back too the same screen telling me there is a new update out.. what file is the updater not seing? augh.. and why do these forums not have a delete option?

  • Setting automatic update settings for all users

    Hello all,
I'm trying to roll out Quicktime 7.6 to our corporate desktops with the automatic update feature within Quicktime disabled. In past installs we were able to make the setting change and then copy the quicktime.qtp file to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\quicktime" directory on all the computers and all would be good. However with 7.6 is appears this file is now housed under the individual user's profile. Is there a way to make this a global setting for all users logging in to a pc?
    Thanks in advance!
    KC

We have a similar problem in a High School, using Windows XP Pro, QT 7.x and Active Directory. While going to a Spanish Exam web page that uses QT, the students get locked into an auto update process. As restricted users, they can neither abort or accept the update, and are unable to complete the exam. We have found that unchecking the preference for auto update as an admin user does not uncheck it for anyone else. Under C:\Documents and Settings, there is no folder for Apple Software except for myself, once I have opened the QT preferences. I assume that Apple has hidden the location of the default preference to force updating, without regard to how that would work in a locked-down environment. It sure creates havoc when 30 students sit down for a timed and graded online exam!! Any answers out there?

  • Adobe Air Initiates the wrong launch Image on iPhone 6 - Possible App Rejection by Apple Review Team for all developers

I've opened a bug for this issue as well. I want to ask if anyone experiencing the same issue and has found a workaround.  Basically Air Runtime is picking up the wrong launch image when launching on iPhone 6. It defaults to [email protected] instead of the [email protected] iOS 8 picks the correct image but Air Runtime does not. Here is the link for the bug. If this is confirmed, this could result in rejection for all the app developers who optimized their apps for iPhone 6 . It is hard to catch this bug in release mode since the Air Runtime loads pretty fast and it occurs when you device is slow or doing something in the background. You can see it easily on iOS simulator or debug mode. We tried everything for a workaround but we failed.
Bug#3831747 - Adobe Air Initiates the wrong launch Image on iPhone 6 - Possible App Rejection by Apple Review Team for a…

Apple recommends the storyboard/xib option but you can still use launch images as assets in your root. When you open a new project in xcode you can look at Contents.json and see the naming conventions they use for iOS8. We grabbed the new naming convention from here. Also setting up in the application xml the UILaunchImages key works too. Please see the below example. It would be a better solution if Adobe Air refers to xml/info.plist values that the developer sets instead of hard-coded naming conventions.
    <key>UILaunchImages</key>
      <array>
          <dict>
              <key>UILaunchImageMinimumOSVersion</key>
              <string>8.0</string>
              <key>UILaunchImageName</key>
              <string>Default-667h</string>
              <key>UILaunchImageOrientation</key>
              <string>Portrait</string>
              <key>UILaunchImageSize</key>
              <string>{375, 667}</string>
          </dict>

oh...i think you dont know the FOR ALL clause so giving alternative.I think you need to go back through your other thread and actually read it. In it you will see that numerous people have tried to help you. They have provided you with detailed examples of the changes you need to make to your existing code, and also provided detailed examples of why your existing code is a sub-optimal approach.
Regarding my own knowledge of the FORALL clause, I don't really have to defend myself on that one because I provided a very clear example that shows using the FORALL statement vs using 2 other alternatives. Again, if you choose to ignore it, that's your problem not mine.
    Good luck.

  • Lion and Apple MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch Black) MA701LL/A

Anyone here tried to upgrade the MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch Black) MA701LL/A Laptop/Notebook to Lion?
I wonder if this laptop has enough power to support Lion.  So far I upgraded the memory to its max of 2G.
    according to this page:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD256
it should work, but i wanted to get some feedback from users.
    thx

That folder with a question mark means your computer can't find the hard drive. It's possible the drive is physically damaged, but it may also be an error in the system files that has the computer "lost."
Do you have your install discs handy? If so, pop in Install Disc 1 and hold the C key while booting the computer. Once the Installer loads, choose "disk Utility" from the Utilities menu. Does your Hard drive appear? If so, choose the Repair Disk option. If you see any messages saying something can't be repaired, post the messages here. Also check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive; this is in the lower right corner of the window.
    Best of luck!
