Apple Updates costing me money with iOS7 and iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4, great working, cosmetically perfect phone. I update it to the iOS7 and have nothing but problems. So, as of yesterday my phone is lagging so badly it is unusable. I make an appointment at the genius bar and go in. They test and reset as new iPhone only to tell me that I am out of luck, that the phone can not handle the iOS7 update. I am 2 months out of my warranty so will have to spend nearly 600.00 if I want a working phone. I am completely disgusted by this. Apple is supposed to stand behind their product, thats why I chose them. Now I have to buy a new phone because of the this update? I want to contact someone at Apple but get the run around. This is not right. Why are they making updates that are not compatible with their own product? Who wants to spend 600.00 on a phone every year.

i have also turned off background app refresh in settings.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

I just updated my ipad3 with the public release ios7 software, my ipad is now glitching. It is mainly glitching when switching apps and changing my wallpaper. Any advice? Also is anyone else having this issue?

Try to reset your device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Battery life with ios7 and iPhone 4s steps to make it better...

What steps do we take for improving the battery life of iphone 4s using ios7. My iphone is becoming unusable due to the battery life...I need it to connect with my two sons and it dies in less than a day.

There are quite a lot of threads about battery drain and iOS 7, and a lot of advices on the net basically telling you to disable everything (GPS, notifications, iCloud and so on) or to wipe your device and reinstall everything from scratch ...
Something works, something not, but basically there is a bug in iOS causing most of the iPhones to have battery drain issues.
Last attempt I did is to disable iCloud safari sync, since it seems to send data every few seconds.
Standby time greatly improved, but usage time still ***** (compared to iOS 6).
I really hope for a fix from apple ....

Malfunction of bluetooth and WiFi with Ios7 and iphone 4s

Buon giorno, ho un IP 4S è ho fatto regolare aggiornamento a IOS 7.0.3, ho il Bluetooth che ricerca continuamente un contatto e non è disattivabile, e il WIFI che non si può attivare (rimane in grigetto per capirci).
Contestualmente a tutto ciò la mia batteria si scarica in pochissime ore, anche senza utilizzare l'apparecchio.
Ho fatto ogni tipo di ripristino ma niente da fare, il IPH4s è diventato un PROBLEMA !!!!!
cosa devo fare secondo voi ? avete qualche soluzione o trucchetto per porre rimedio a questo problema ?

Thanks for your response, I forgot to add that the five 3uk sims we have in use, I have tried all of them none of them are recongnised non of them have pin codes, I even purchased four more sims Tmobile (original carrier) Vodaphone, 3 and giffgaff.

Got problems with iOS7 and home sharing

Got problems with iOS7 and home sharing music. How do you home share music now. I don't have a airplay button either. It all work fine until I updated

Oh i have an iphone 4 by the way - if this helps.
I have updated the itunes to 11 point something (latest as of 19th Sept '13) and still not joy.
My phone sees the network, then when i try to connect to it in the "Sharing" spot in music, it gives me the rotating icon and then i get "Unable to Home Share at this time".
I had this problem with the ios 6, which was log out of you apple account, and then turn off the phone -this was supposed to clear all the history and old connection details etc.
Then restart the phone and re-log into itunes account.
As i say - that worked last time, but this time, i have no idea what is going on.
I am looking at reverting back to the ios 6, and waiting for ios 7.1 which to be honest - wont be long away with the amount of issues people are having.

Apple Tv does not work with youtube and movies on iphone or ipad

I am on my 2nd generation apple TV. Always worked with Youtube, my iphones and ipads and Netflix.
I think it started about a month ago. I can only use Netflix.
If I try YouTube and select a video (even if small) it just keep spinning and never starts.
The same thing happens with my video from iphone 5S, 5, and ipad 2.
Than I went to my sons house with a Apple TV 3rd generation and different wifi,
same thing happens, I can not show a video from my iPhone 5S.
What is going on, did Apple TV change something?
Is this a update that went wrong?
(I have auto update and also checked manually to make sure have latest apple TV FW)
(All iphone and ipads are latest FW).

Welcome to the Apple Community..
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

The Apple genius at the Apple store told me this would work. It failed. Basically, updating your iPhone 3GS to iOS5 wipes your 3GS of its data so you can't really do this. Some data worked. Music, photos etc didn't work at all.
I suggest avoiding iCloud completely for a few weeks until Apple gets it working.

Just updated my iPad 2 to ios7 and now my screen resolution is terrible...

I tried rebooting several times, but it didn't help. Everything else seems to be working fine. Any suggestions?

Just tried this...did not work. Resolution is still horrible. This is not an issue of it just not looking smooth or sharp. It's so much worse than that. It was actually fine right after the update. The next morning when I turned it on it was messed up.

You can buy a factory unlocked on direct from Apple sim free, make sure you get the right one and not just a contract free one. I am sure one of our US members will be able to give you the price.

1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

Thanks - I guess it is like there were two of me!
I bought the iPhone first and it seemed natural to link it to the (work) e-mail address which was in constant use. The iMac for home use came next and it seemed natural to use my home e-mail address, particularly as I knew by then that I would lose the work address after my imminent retirement. The same logic went for the recent puchase of the MacAir. I am not sure what happened with the iPad (also a recent purchase) - iTunes seemed to puch me towards the same ID as the iPhone.
It is not a huge problem - just makes my persona look schizoid! Otherwise very happy with everything Apple.
