Apple USB adapter VS world travel adapter kit!

Firstly, i'm posting this here becausa i didn't find a better place.
Well, I need a wall plug for recharging my ipod and since the price difference between these 2 products is only $10 I started to think which one is the best.
I mean..obviusly the travel kit comes with the charger and many more stuff, and the usb adapter comes all by itself. Does that mean the usb adapter is better in some way?
Could you guys give me hints for choosing between them?
Thanks!

The travel kit contains the adaptors needed to charge the iPod from international power outlets. The USB adaptor can only charge it from outlets using one pin configuration.

  • Which adapter plug from the Apple Worldwide Adapter Kit should I use for travel with MacAir to Czechoslovakia and Hungary?

Traveling to Czechoslovakia and Hungary and puirchased the Apple Worldwide Adapter Kit. I'm confused about which adapter plug to use with my MacAir. What does the correct plug look like?
    Thanks

Here is the link to the adapter kit on the Apple website:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B/apple-world-travel-adapter-kit
This may or may not suit your needs but I suggest that you visit an Apple store and take a look at the kit yourself.  With the information from prior link, you should  know exactly what to look for.
    Ciao.

  • How do I replace one adaptor from my Apple World Traveler Adaptor Kit?

How do I replace one adaptor from my Apple World Traveler Adaptor Kit?

If you have lost it then you might find a single replacement you can purchase at a AAA travel store. You could call your local Apple Store to ask, but Apple does not sell the adapters separately.

  • My apple usb adapter for iPad dose not work any more

I use USB adapter before , but can not work any more

Can you try it with someone else's adaptor to make sure that is where  the fault lies?
Make sure it is connected directly to the wall socket and not through a two way adaptor.
Move both ends of the cable slight to make sure there is not a loose connection.

  • MB and world travel adapter kit

I'm thinking about buying a MB for use in travel. I have a world travel adaptor kit, but I notice the store page specifically does not list the kit as supporting the regular MB (it lists the MB Pro, iPods, etc.).
Does this mean the kit is not recommended for use with a MB? If not, why not, and what product, if any, is recommended?
And if I do decide to use the not-recommended adapter kit, what's the worst that can happen?
    Thanks for the help.
    MB   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The kit is the one offered through Apple on this site's store. I originally bought it to charge an iPod overseas, and I've had it for about a year.
    According to the store page:
The World Travel Adapter Kit includes a set of six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world. For world travelers, this is the perfect kit to ensure power connectivity in most countries you may travel to. The Kit is designed to work with (and requires) the white portable power adapter that ships with iBook, MacBook Pro, and PowerBook G4, and it also works with the iPod USB Power Adapter and iPod FireWire Power Adapter (available separately). The AC plugs included in the World Travel Adapter Kit directly support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong.
Compatible with power adapters for iBook, MacBook Pro, PowerBook G4, iPod USB Power Adapter, and iPod FireWire Power Adapter.
It does not say regular MB, so I don't know if it's compatible or if there's something else out there, either made by Apple or another vendor, that is recommended. I don't want to fry a brand new MB on its first trip out of the country.
    Thanks for your help.

  • World Travel Adapter Kit with Lightning Cable

    Hello,
I would like to buy the world travel adpter kit but it comes with the "old" cable, when it will be released with the lightning cable?
    thank you!

WRONG. I quote the product page: The World Travel Adapter Kit includes a USB power adapter, a USB cable, and a set of six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world.

  • Which adapter plug  in World Travel Adapter Kit is right for Argentina?

My father in law is off to Argentina with his PowerBook in tow. We know it can handle the voltage down there but I don't know which world adapter plug he needs as it's not listed as one of the choices in the World Travel Adapter Kit. Nothing for South America is listed in the kit, for that matter. Any ideas?
    Thanks much,
    Jake

    Jake,
Check out this site for the type of connector and voltage used in Argentina (and everywhere else for that matter).
    http://kropla.com/electric2.htm
It is the "Australian" type that he needs.
If he hasn't already bought Apple's adapter kit I'd recommend he just buy a travel adapter in Argentina, or in the Airport departure lounge on the way out - they only cost a couple of bucks and will work just fine. When I moved from Canada to the UK nearly two years ago I thought the Apple kit was overpriced - spent £2 on the relevant travel adapter that I'm still using.
    Good luck,
    Gareth

  • USB Adapter's Use in foreign country that does not use standard 110 and

I am not taking my lap top on my trip to NZ but want to charge battery on IPod. Will the Apple USB Adapter work with an additional adapter for the different current and plug in that foreign country?

Yes, you can take the USB adaptor. New Zealand uses 230V. All you need is a plug adaptor so you can plug it into the socket. New Zealand uses the same plugs as Australia.

    Title says it all.
Is there anything about the Apple usb adapter that means that no other 5 volt usb adapter would work with the iPod ?

    Mains adapter?
Depends on make/model but I think there should be no problem with older versions, unlike charging straight to the 32 pin connector via some older docks.

  • Apple World Travel Adapter Kit and the iPhone!

so, i have the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit which i was using with my powerbook.
now, im takin the iphone with me abroad, and im just wondering if it would be compatible.
the thing that confuses me is that the iphone adapter is usb, and with the powerbook adapter, north american plug can pop off and i can place another one to it.
    this is what i have:

    i think i need this:

    anyone try it yet?

Thanks, but my question was can I use the 10 watt power supply with the iPhone 4?
A 10 watt USB charger should work, but may not charge as fast as the iPhone charger. The 10 watt iPad charger will but other brands may not signal the iPhone about the power rating, so the iPhone may assume a standard USB port, which can only provide 2.5 watts.
The 5 watt that it comes with is a an Edison plug and can't be changed with the world kit.
The World Travel Adapter Kit includes a charger with a removable plug so that charger can be used with the plug adapters in the kit.
You don't need the kit, though. You can just buy non-Apple plug adapters to use with your current charger.

  • Charging my ipod in India with Apple's World Travel Adapter kit?

I am going to India. I would like to take my ipod mini. I have the USB Power Adapter. Does the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit have a plug that will work in India? Thanks.

    Apparently not.
"The AC plugs included in the World Travel Adapter Kit directly support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom & Ireland, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong."
But I would have thought it would be easy to pick up a plug adaptor at the airport or any electrical shop.
    Or here.
You're looking for one that looks like this.

  • Apple World Travel Adapter Kit????????

I live in the USA. I have a new PB G-4 12" and was thinking about bringing it with me when I travel to England next month. It suddenly occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to plug my laptop into a power source without some kind of an adapter. I was looking at the one at the Apple Store, but when I read all the commentaries by users I got a lot confused and a little bit worried.
Will somebody who has a USA PB and travels to the UK please advise me as to what I might need to get that will safely work on my PowerBook G4???
    Thanks

    Hi...
Well, I thought long and hard about it and weighed the advice and the costs versus the occasional reports of negative consequences and went ahead and purchased the World Travel kit for my trip. The reason being that okay, the price is high but not as high as a major repair would likely be if I trusted a non-Apple adapter and it was junk...like some of the clothes I've purchased online lately and had to send back.
I'm still not sure if I'm going to bring my PB with me...if I do, I have the plug and with enough other plugs for a trip around the whole world. I guess I could sell the spares that I will most likely never, ever use...on eBay.

  • HT1688 I have the Apple world travel adapter Kit. Do I need a voltage converter to step down 220 V to 110 V

I have the Apple world travel adapter Kit. Do  I need a voltage converter to step down 220 V to 110 V?

As Meg said, no, you don't need a converter.  Take a close look at the charger... it says 110-240VAC Input, or something similar.

  • Cheap alternative to Apple World Travel Adapter Kit?

The Lenmar World Travel Adapter Plug Set is only $8.64 on Amazon:

    Will this work?
    Thanks!

You will notice that the adapters shown in the illustration at the Amazon link are for two pronged plugs. They are also not designed for keyed plugs.
The Apple Charger for the iPad has 2 prong, un-keyed plug which is OK, the long cord version has a standard 3 prong plug which will require a adapter in front of the adapter.
Sets like the one you reference handle most countries, there are some odd-balls.
Sites like [*this one*|http://kropla.com/electric2.htm] have all the gory details by country.
