Usb optical mouse doesn't work on MacBook Air
Hi, I need a mouse for my MBA but I only found a cheap USB optical mouse that i've used several times on my pc and worked perfectly fine, I tried using it on my MBA but it doesn't work. I searched in system information to see if at least the mouse is detected and surprisingly it is detected. The mouse has no brand and i don't think it needs any type of driver. What should i do?
I have a MacBook Air mid-2012 running Mountain Lion.

Well, there is no big deal about USB mouse, it's plug and play.If your mouse doesn't work at all, then its broken, or it's not compatible with mac. Test it in a PC. -
USB optical mouse won't work in PS/2 port
I have a lenovo USB optical wheel mouse that I want to plug into the PS/2 mouse port (I need to free up the USB port for something else). I have a green USB to PS/2 adaptor that works fine with a borrowed logitech USB mouse and also works fine with a microsoft USB mouse. Any ideas why it won't work with a lenovo (or IBM) USB mouse?
My system is a ThinkCentre M51 type 1843-wnv running win xp pro. Have 2.5 GB DDR RAM and an ATI Radeon 4550 in the PCIe 2 slot. HDD is a WD Caviar Black 500 GB with 32 cache.
Thanks!
ThinkCentre M51 (8143-WNV): Intel Pentium 4 (HT), 4 GB RAM, 40 GB 7200 RPM SATA HDD, PCI Tower (4x5), Intel GMA 900, 48x32x48x16x CD-RW & DVD combo, Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet, Win XP Pro, US Robotics voice/data modem PCI, USB 2.0 PCI card> Any ideas why it won't work with a lenovo (or IBM) USB mouse?
No, however, I've encountered similar issues with mice and keyboards using USB -> PS/2 adapters.
I'd suggest another solution: A simple USB hub. No external power is necessary for mice and keyboards so you can use whatever hub is least expensive. A hub will also provide you with extra USB ports that you can use with other devices. You can never be too rich or too thin or have too many USB ports

driver appeared succefully installed but actaully not work
i tried this mouse on another laptop also lenovo T530 it work
i tried search on internet i fail to get any solution
by the way
mouse work correclty in repair mode onlyThere is no way you can virus check a Time Machine backup.. it is not stored in the TM backup in the same file structure as is used on the computer.
You will have to wipe it.
Must I clear the disk entirely? How woud I do that if I don't have Airport involved in the connection?
Yes, wipe.
I have no idea what disk you are using if it is not a Time Capsule.. but you do wipe of a hard disk on a Mac with the disk utility. Just reformat the drive. -

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Kindly sugest me the what to doHello rajeevkumar30
As I understand it you reinstalled Windows XP and now you have devices that are not being installed correctly? I would suggest that you visit the Compaq Presario V2000 CTO Notebook PC Drivers page and ensure that ALL your drivers and software are up to date. I would start with any BIOS and Firmware updates first than ensure your Drivers are up to date before moving on to your software.
As these are the drivers designed for your system this should resolve your issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Hello, I am a relatively new Macbook Pro user. Only previous experience with a Mac before this was many years ago in Iraq. I have a relatively cheap USB optical mouse, that I am trying to hook up so I can use Lumosity.com easier. It is not an Apple brand - it is literally the sort of thing that comes with a cheap set of things in a 3rd-world store. I attempted plugging in a Magic Mouse from Apple earlier, and no, it did not work either. Simply put, I have two mouse devices that do not want to work in an environment that has no wi-fi (which I presume is why the Magic Mouse won't work, seeing as all it is supposed to require is to be turned on), and cannot seem to find success with this other cheap(er) optical mouse that has to be physically plugged into the laptop. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Quick list of things I've already tried:
1. Taking the Magic Mouse to an area that has wi-fi (failed).
2. Plugging the optical mouse into different USB ports on the laptop (failed)
3. Yelling at both devices for failing me (no result = failed ironically).
4. Turning the Magic Mouse on and off (failed).
List of things that I have not done incorrectly:
1. Not tried a different device.
2. Putting the device(s) on any glass surface.
Any further assistance would be most greatly appreciated.OK... the corded mouse is an unknown, since you're saying it's a very cheap device. At this point, if I understand you, you're not sure if that mouse even works. Let's go back to the Apple mouse. They don't need wireless to work, they run on Bluetooth, which is part of your computer. You need to go through "pairing" to bond that mouse to your computer.

IMac G3 and optical mouse?
At a new job, I'm working on a G3 iMac with one of those mice that has a tracking ball. The tracking ball doesn't work too well, so I was wondering if my optical mouse at home would work on this G3.
ThanksI use an Apple Pro Optical Mouse with my G3 iMac, and it works great. No additional drivers needed, either for OS 9 or 10.3. I started using the Pro Mouse because I could not stand the ‘hockey puck’ style mouse that came with the machine. I did attach an iCatch to the original USB mouse in order to make it seem like a normal mouse, but still did not like having to deal with the mechanical ball rolling around and getting gunked up. An optical mouse stays much cleaner and is more precise.

My Apple USB mouse is not working with Mac OS X 10.6.8
Any ideas?
My USB Mighty Mouse is no more working with my Mac (OS X 10.6.8). I haven't used it for long, but now it doesn't work anymore.
When I plug it into the USB port, Mac does recognize it but it seems like frozen. Red light under the mouse is on, but no signs from the mouse.
I checked in the system profiler and the mouse appears among the USB hardware, as

I have an optical mouse that came with my Mac Pro, the only thing plugged into the USB port on the keyboard. After a year of working normally, the trackball all of a sudden stopped scrolling down. It scrolls up just fine, but not down. Any thoughts?
Well
I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem. Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol. Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too. -
Why don't my Apple USB keyboard and mouse work in Win XP after bootcamp driver installed
Hey there,
I just installed Win XP Pro + SP2 using Bootcamp 3.0 on my Mac Pro 1.1 (2006) which is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). The Win XP installation went flawlessly and everything seemed to be working OK (mouse & keyboard were fine) until I installed the Bootcamp drivers from my OS X installation DVD. The installation didn't report any problems, but when it was finished, the keyboard (Apple USB keyboard) and mouse (Logitech USB mouse) stopped responding. No power to the mouse at all makes me believe that it is actually the USB drivers themselves that have failed. Rebooting WinXP didn't solve the problem - it boots WinXP just fine (and fast!), shows the Bootcamp Help screen, but no mouse or keyboard, a.k.a., USB, response.
Can I recover from this somehow?
Help please?
Thanks,
RonProblem solved.
It seems that the boot camp 3.0 drivers installed from my 10.6.8 DVD weren't sufficient. I repeated the install from scratch, but rather than rebooting as soon as the BC 3.0 drivers were installed, I allowed the Apple Update utility to D/L and install the BC 3.1 and 3.2 updates. Viola! Everything works brilliantly. My Mac Pro is now the best Windows PC I have ever owned -
How to launch Apple Hardware Test from a USB optical drive?
Hi all!
First off, and before you guys starting proposing solutions I can't implement, I don't, repeat DON'T have a Firewire optical drive, nor am I going to buy one: I recently had to buy a USB LG optical drive to compensate for my SuperDrive going AWOL on me. I used said drive to reinstall OSX about a month ago, so this LG drive works just fine, thank you.
The thing is, I'd like to conduct an Apple Hardware Test, and I know you have to boot from OSX CD n°1 (in my case) to do that. Alas, since I can't boot from the CD in my SuperDrive by keeping the D key down, all I have is this LG thingy, and I wonder how I can conduct my hardware test with a USB optical drive.
I'll sum it up for you:
1) My SuperDrive isn't working, stopped working about the same time I installed this EFIng (guffaw, guffaw) Security Update 2009-001;
2) I don't have a Firewire optical drive;
3) All I have is a USB optical drive and MacOS X CDs.
4) Booting with the OSX CD in my USB optical drive and keeping D, C or alt keys didn't help.
I read in another forum that you could somehow copy the content of the OSX CD on a flash drive, then boot from the flash drive and conduct an AHT, but I'm not sure how it can be done.Hi!
Looks like we posted at exactly the same time, Glynn! LOL
Anyway, I did just what you said, drag'n'drop and all. The problem is, when I boot from the USB hard drive, it's exactly as if I were booting from the CD: first I'm asked to choose a language, then the install screen appears, and I can either reinstall on my startup disk from the USB hard drive (that's kinda cool, but I don't think I leave in on my USB hard drive, which can only content 40Gb, because I've almost 25Gb worth of data to retransfer soon...
So, in a nutshell, I couldn't find Apple Hardware Test anywhere. I even explored the CD content, but there are so many files...
What's my best option now? Could AppleJack help me here? Can I install AHT on my startup disk and boot on it using a special set of keys?
Almost time to go to work. A 5 minute walk, though... -
I am on OSX 10.7.5 and recently had to reinstall it due to 'mail' not working correctly. That problem was resolved but now my I can't use the 'right click' function on the apple usb mouse. I only have a previous version re-install disc as I bought the latest OSX off the app store. Any help gratefully received?
Hmmm, no, no drivers needed, now it sounds like a bad install... unless you might have some old Mouse software installed???
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -
HP OpticaL USB Mobile Mouse Cotrol Panel error.
I have the HP Optical USBMobile Mouse on an HP DV5T laptop running Vista sp2 ultimate. I have been getting the fillowong erro clicking on the mouse control panel app.:
Debug assertion failed!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\System32\RunLegacyCPLElevated.exe
File:.\LinkAPI.cpp
Line:32
I tried reinstalling it from the website.I tried to reinstall from disk. I even tried to rebuild the harddrive back to factory image. I even tried installing the mouse on my wife's DV4T laptop. Nothing works. The mouse itself seems to work fine, and the home button pulls up my browser's home page.I cannot change the HP mouse settings. I am assumming that the default Windows mouse driver is being used.Although, why the Home buttom works, (Not standard for a mouse) I have no idea. In device manager the mouse used to show as the HP Optical USB Mobile mouse. Now It only shows" HID-Compliant mouse". When I used to install the update from the HP website,I the mouse applet would also error out. However I found the fix at that time was to run the setup up until just after the files were created in the x86 program files directory, cancelling the setup, and running setup from the 64 bit folder. then the control panel app worked. It seemed that the default x86 driver ( the default driver from the website) was not working but the 64 bit software was working. Now this fix is not working at all.
Any ideas? This has been driving me crazy for ove a month now.@Katdrummer
