Apple USB Power Adapter

So, a friend of mine was staying at my house and left her power adapter and she said that I could keep it.
I tried plugging my iPod nano 4th gen. and it would not work, the I tried it on my iPod touch 4th and it wouldn't work either.
So my question is if I have to have the cord that origionally came with the adapter or I can use mine. And if I can use mine, I guess is the adapter that doesn't work.
Thank you.

Hmmmmm... I'm not entirely positive on this one.  I believe the dock connector pin layout is a little different for the iPhone 4 than it was for previous generations, so that could be the issue here.
Sorry I cannot be of more assistance on this one.

  • Can Shuffle play while charging on Apple USB Power Adapter?

    Hi,
We would like to purchase a shuffle (2nd gen) to play continuously music on hold to our company's telephone system. The Phone system's audio-in jack is compatible. I've connected my 1st Gen iPod shuffle to the phone system, and it plays fine.
We will not be able to plug the shuffle into a computer, so we will need to plug it into the Apple USB Power Adapter.
Is anyone doing this? Does it work? Any problems?
    Thanks,
    David

  • Can I charge an iPod Classic 3G with the Apple USB power adapter?

I have just buy an iPod Classic 3G with 15  GB (SN JQ4239GQQQF) from ebay.
I have read that it's posible to sync it with my PC with Windows 7, but, It is not possible
    to charge it by usb.
I could charge it with the Apple USB power adapter?
    Thanks

With that particular model, only the Firewire cable and connection will provide power to the device.  The USB cable is only for syncing.
Using the iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable
Here is the cable you'll need.

And the wall adapter as well.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with new nano

Hi. I have an older Apple USB Power Adapter (model A1102) that I've been using with an Ipod Mini (bought it with the mini a long time ago). I have a new 3G nano on order. Will this power adapter work with the new nano? Or will I be forced to buy a new one?
Output from the adapter is 5V - 1.0A
    Thanks

Since I also converted from a Mini to a 3G Nano, I thought I'd give you a couple of pointers; I probably spent a couple of days preparing my existing mp3 library (and that says nothing about videos).
    1) Make sure all of your mp3's are NOT marked read-only and load everything you want into the NEW iTunes
    2) Work on collecting/saving the NEW things like album covert art and lyrics (I sometimes use the lyrics area to list musicians/personnel)
    3) Re-construct your playlists and SAVE everything (iTunes actually writes back to the mp3 files--that's why you don't want them read-only)
    4) Only then start messing with videos, because they tend to crash iTunes depending on your hardware, OS, etc. (for example, iTunes doesn't work well with Vista). My best advice for videos is use a 3rd party converter (like Nero Recode) to ensure iPod format compatibility; don't even waste your time with iTunes for anything that isn't a downloaded/purchased item.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with New Shuffle

I just purchased a shuffle (2nd gen) and was wondering if I can use the Apple USB Power adapter that I use for my ipod (5th gen - the adapter is about two years old) to charge it, or can I only use my computer? The Apple store shows that it's compatible with the newer adapters, so I'm assuming I should be fine, but wanted to make sure.
Also, is there anyway to check on the computer, once the shuffle is docked, how full the charge is or isn't?
    Thanks!!

    It should work... try it!

The only indication is the status LED, it's either orange for charging or
    green for "charged"...

Must I have an Apple USB power adaptor to charge an ipod or can I use the power adaptor from my htc cell phone?

Read the cell phone user manual to see if the charger can charge an iPod Nano.
FYI the usb power charger (AC) does not have to come from Apple.  I purchased mine from Macmall.com

  • My Apple USB Power adapter wont charge my ipod?

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem? please.

Where do you have it plugged in? It has to be plugged into a powered USB port (like directly into the computer or a powered adapter) there's not enough power from the USB ports on the keyboard.
Do you have your computer turned on? If the computer is off there isn't any power going to the USB ports

  • How do you change the fuse in a UK Apple 5w USB Power Adapter?

How do you change the fuse in a UK Apple 5w USB Power Adapter?
Ours has stopped working and we presume it must be an internal fuse, but how do you access it as there is no 'slots' as on the 12w version?
All UK power devices must be fused to comply with regs but I can't work out how you open the 5w adapter to change the fuse.

This is the power adapter I have http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD812B/A/apple-usb-power-adapter
Is it really only a 12 month warranty? Seems a waste and environmentally criminal to throw away an adapter without being able to check the fuse!?

  • Hello, I have Just purchased an iphone 5 2 weeks ago but when I look through my USB power adapter, there is no serial number printed inside the USB opening, can I know is it a fake one?

Hello, I have Just purchased an iphone 5 2 weeks ago but when I look through my USB power adapter, there is no serial number printed inside the USB opening, can I know is it a fake one?

If you purchased it from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it's genuine.
If not, it is very likely to be counterfeit and dangerous to use. Counterfeit power adapters often bear fraudulent consumer product safety markings. It is difficult or impossible to distinguish a genuine power adapter from a counterfeit from an exterior inspection, and inspecting its interior destroys the adapter.
    From http://www.apple.com/support/usbadapter-takeback/:
If you need a replacement adapter to charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, we recommend getting an Apple USB power adapter. For a limited time, you can purchase one Apple USB power adapter at a special price — $10 USD or approximate equivalent in local currency. To qualify, you must turn in at least one USB power adapter and bring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to an Apple Retail Store or participating Apple Authorized Service Provider for serial number validation.
If in doubt, do not use it.

  • USB Power Adapter for use on both iPod Touch and Mini?

Will the Apple USB Power Adapter that charges the iPod Touch also charge my iPod Mini? The Mini is not listed specifically in the compatibility chart. 1st and 2nd generation iPods are listed as compatible. Would the Mini be considered one of these? Just wanted to check before ordering the charger.

It's fine.  Any adapter that is 5.0 or 5.1V DC at 0.5 to 2A (500 to 2000ma) will work.

  • Apple iPod USB Power Adapter - ?

    Hello everybody!
I've got a problem with my new iPod mini and I hope you may help me.
After updating the new software for my iPod Apple told me to charge the battery with a Apple iPod USB Power Adapter which I don't have.
I tried to connect the iPod to my computer (Windows XP) but there's always the picture of the adapter on my iPod. I've tried to reset it, restart the computer and so on ...
But the display always shows this sign of the adapter.
I hope you can help me, I'd be very greatful.

    iPod mini   Windows XP

but it's already worked with my computer, the iPod worked alright, so I don't think that I need this stuff you've just named.
The iPod will work just fine without those things.
It's the update/restore process that needs the A/C adapter.
Anyway, you don't need to listen to me if you don't want to. I won't be insulted.
