Apple's warranty is global. However, some countries have laws which over rides Apple's warranty. To check to see if India is involved read the info in EU-wide Consumer Laws article.

No iPhone has ever come with an International warranty... it is unlikely any iPhone will ever come with an International warranty.
Support and warranty is only valid in the country where the device is originally sold by Apple or their authorized reseller. The ONLY exception is in the EU where devices can get warranty support in any EU country.

There is a problem insofar as you did not buy the phone.   Any warranty would therefore apply to the buyer.   What I would suggest is this ...
With the receipt in your hand, telephone the store where it was purchased. Explain the situation and ask them how you should proceed.    You may find they'll only deal with your friend but if he/she is willing, it can still be pursued in your friend's name.
Once you have agreed a way of getting it serviced you will need to return the phone, and as I suggested, by a registered post system that requires proof of delivery. Most postal services do this.
Pack the phone, preferably in its original box and surround it with extra packing. You do not want anyone to have grounds to say it was further damaged in transit.
Include a dated letter stating what the fault is and affix to that a copy of the receipt.

Do batteries come with a warranty? going on number 4 for bad batteries

I'm on my third battery, actually have had it for a while so it may just be time for a new one, but I've always seem to have a problem with them and when I get a new one, does it come with a warranty or anything? I don't see that on Apple store or anything, I just don't want to spend that kind of money on a 4th battery and have it not last. I've never had a battery get to the 300 cycle count and they barely last an hour. I do calibrate it from time to time too.

No they do not -- but it depends on your situation.
How old is your MBP? Your MBP carries a one year warranty during which time it includes free battery replacement if something goes wrong. If you purchase the Apple Care warranty, it covers free battery replacement for two more years.
However, your 167-cycle battery reading on your post is only about half the cycle charges you should be getting....
If this is the 4th battery replacement, there is something seriously wrong not with your battery, but with the electrics of your MBP itself. You should bring it in for service if you are under warranty and let them look at all the power things, and see where your drain is coming from.
APple Battery's are rated for about 300 recharge cycles (about 2 years of normal daily usage). There is something wrong with your machine.

I do know that it will work with the iPhone 5 and later, and I doubt that Apple wouldn't make the Apple Watch compatible with the iPod Touch. The fact that the Apple Watch will be able to make calls concerns me. You can not make calls on the iPod Touch with any built-in app, so that might make the iPod Touch excluded from being compatible with the Apple Watch. I am almost one hundred percent sure that IF the Apple Watch is compatible with the iPod Touch it will only be compatible with the 5th generation.
