Apple Watch Messages app missing contact info?

Sometime in my fiddling, I managed to break the Messages app. It no longer displays contact names from my iPhone Contacts. I've tried everything shy of resetting the watch. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Problems with iTunes 7.1.2 : Missing Contacts Info !
I synced my iPhone 5s (running v 7.1.1) to my late 2010 MacBook Pro 13" (OSX 10.9.4) using iTunes (can't remember exactly which version of iTunes, but whatever was the latest around the end of May 2014).
Subsequently, I upgraded my iPhone 5s to v 7.1.2 and also upgraded iTunes to 11.3.1 (2), then synced my 5s to my MacBook Pro.
Following this, on both my iPhone and on my Mac (I don't use iCloud), many of my Contact details had reverted to a much older version, and most of the information under the "notes" field in each contact was missing.
Is there a way to revert to the prior version of iTunes (7.1.1) or otherwise restore this missing information? There is critical information in my Contacts that has now ceased to exist!

Often in upgrading the OS, QT or FCP for some odd reason QT will get knocked slightly off kilter. Before doing the step back to 6.5.2, try a complete QT reinstall.
This is how:
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
Run the Quicktime installer.
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
Reboot
FWIW, FCP4.5 can run without issue under 10.4.x and QT7, but it is VERY stable under 10.3.9 and QT6.5.2.

I need step by step directions on set up different profiles on itunes for 2 seperate iphones. I want to be able to share purchases if desired, but not have to have the same apps/songs on our phones. I could do with sharing songs.....apps not so much. Please Help!!

Apple pay - watch-"could not connect to apple watch" message.

I have apple pay set up on my 6, iOS 8.3. I am trying to set up apple pay on my apple watch. I keep getting the message "Could not connect to apple watch". My watch is about 4 inches from my phone, it is powered on, and not in Airplane mode (which are the suggestions that show up in the message as well). Any suggestions?

Was getting the same "Could not connect to Apple Watch" message. Then read the comments here. Did a "reset" of the iPhone 5s, meaning I held the two buttons simultaneously until the iPhone restarted. Don't know if the "hard" reset is something different.
So it works, but Bank of America only takes iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. AMEX is working for Apple Pay on 5s and Apple Watch!

Apple Website Needs E-Mail Contact Info

It would be nice if Apple would put some E-mail contact info to an Apple rep because no every issue can be solved by the online FAQ and other help files.
Now I know there is a number but not everyone has access to a phone. Now myself, I am in a strange situation, but I need support from Apple on my 300$ IPod. I am a soldier serving in Iraq, and before I was sent to Iraq I got an IPod. Now along the way it got zaped or something, and now it wont work. I want to utilize the service waranty, but Apple wont mail me a box to my APO AE address. Furthermore, the website says I purchased my Ipod over 6 months ago, and thats wrong, but theres no way to see what strange date Apple has or to contest it. It simply says my waranty period is over and I have to pay for service. Now the real kicker is that it broke before the service waranty ended (my waranty is good till the end of FEB) but I wont be back in the US before it ends, so I guess I am just out of luck?
Is there anything I can do?
I have posted here because I am out of ideas and theres no real place for a person in my situation to address my issue to. So if there is anyone who cares, or has any information on my situaion, I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to Apple Discussions and thank you for your brave service.
The lack of e-mail contact information can be a real drag, I've experienced it too, and I also can relate to the frustration of not being able to find the information I'm looking for in the online FAQs or Knowledge Base articles.
When that happens, I've been fortunate to more often than not find the help I'm looking for by posting in the Apple Discussions forum dedicated to the hardware or software product I'm having difficulty with.
You didn't mention what model iPod you have, but you did say it cost $300. If you have the 30GB iPod w/ video, you should post here, in the Using Your 5th Generation iPod forum.
If that's not your model, then go here, where all the iPod Forums are displayed and select the right forum for your model iPod.
Then, once you've clicked on the specific forum you want to post in, click on the "post a new topic" button in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and write down with as much specificity as you can exactly what's wrong with your iPod, what (if any) error messages, symbols or lights or other possibly diagnostic symptoms appear, when you first noticed the problem and anything else you think might be useful to someone trying to help out.
These forums have a surprisingly large number of helpful and knowledgeable users who very often are able to find a solution (short service by an Apple Technician) to all kinds of problems.

EDIT: If the above does not work for you, I'm really not sure how to address your warranty issues without being able to contact Apple by phone. If your iPod does eventually require service that should be covered under warranty and Apple resists, saying that your warranty expired, you may ultimately need to demonstrate proof of service to them.
You can write to Apple at the following general corporate address, it's the only one I know: Apple Computer, Inc., 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014. I know it's not a direct address for customer service, but I would hope that if you put "ATTN: Customer Service" or something to that effect in the address, it would get to the right people.

ITunes & iOS 5 Upgrades-missing backups, missing contact info

Using Windows XP, upgraded iTunes to 10.5.0.142 couple of days ago, then iOS 5 yesterday. When I installed iOS 5, it didn't reload my apps AND was missing any contact data beyond 2 phone numbers. In iTunes and on my pc \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup I only had 1 backup from yesterday (the day I upgraded) and it didn't inlcude my last iOS4 backup either. I had sync'd multiple times last week as I was adding contacts. WHERE DID THEY GO?
Also missing contact phone numbers where I had more than 2 phone numbers. Noticed in my Favorites that some were numbers and also tried other 'fixes' mentioned elsewhere like just editing one contact or importing SIM data -- none worked. I have been using iDrive Lite so I can recover some, but ***? Don't know what else is missing.
And, apps didn't restore at all. Have to redownload all, but at least app data seems to have been preserved. What's going on???

I have solved it by unchecking (momentaneously till apple fix it) the "Convert higher bit rate songs" option.
I know that it need more space but i don't have too much music synced so.. it isn't a problem for me..
I have this problem because i'm using the "manually manage music and videos", i'm not using the auto sync option because iTunes always try to copy my new apps to my mac even having that option unchecked...
Now we have iCloud... i don't know why apple still have not deleted this feature!
Anyway... i have solved it momentaneously.

Apple TV PBS app missing

The Apple TVs PBS app is missing from the main screen.
I have had no problem watching PBS the other day so I know everything is set up correctly.
I tried restarting the device twice with no change in the problem. Can somebody please help me with this or at least give me some suggestions as to what to do.

Well I had been staying at friends across the border in the usa. Settings were on automatic.
I didn't think anything of it at the time. Just took my Apple TV when I visit because it's so port able .
What a shame pbs is not offered in canada on Apple TV.
What I don't understand is why, as PBS reaches Canadian viewers on regular air TV and cable TV. Canadians are big $ contributors.

Missing Contact Info

I've had my iPod touch for a few days now. Everything has seemed to sync perfectly. My bookmarks, calendars, and photos are all there. But there's a majority of my contacts who are missing their info. Even my own card is missing info from it. Can anyone help?

I've got the same problem. I first synced some groups but then decided to sync my entire address book. Now there are some contact with no information in them. When I complete the missing information on the iPod touch and sync back the entered info appears along the existing info in my mac's adress book.
Strange thing. I heard someone say that it might be a problem with the format of the vcards but that would be strange. Hopefully this will be solved soon.

Apple Watch workouts app and iPhone gps

This weekend, I used my Apple Watch's workout feature for the first time, for Philadelphia's Broad Street Run. This is a 10 mile race. When I started out, I noticed that the Apple Watch was indicating a pace far faster than I was actually moving (I could tell by the mile markers, and my own time). At the conclusion of the race, I stopped the run in the workouts app, and the app shows that I ran 12.32 miles. I checked my phone a few times while running, and did not see the GPS icon in the upper right, so I can only conclude that the workoutapp wasn't using the phone's gps. Has anyone else had this issue?

Check to see if motion calibration and distance are turned on under Location Services, System Services. Also, the watch won't use GPS to tell your distance rather to better hone the algorithms its accelerometer uses to calculate your steps (and imply distance). Hence their claim that you need to train it and it will improve its accuracy.

Apple Watch iPhone app battery usage

Hi Everyone,
Is anyone else finding that the Apple watch companion iPhone app is having a massive drain on their iPhone battery?
Since getting the watch, my iPhone is draining at about 2x the normal rate. When I go into the iPhone and take a look at the battery usage, it's the Apple Watch app that's absolutely creaming the battery.
As a bit of background, I expected this to be the case on the day I got the watch, given I was playing with it so much, but today, I've not done anything special on the watch or on the phone because I've had a busy morning. Even so, my iPhone will be drained by mid afternoon at the current burn rate.

Having the same issue. Burned through 50% battery without really doing anything. It definitely seems to be tied to how much you use the watch though

Message+ app missing parts of conversation

I would like to be able to use my tablet and my pc to text people while I have a bad signal where I work. The message+ app should be perfect for that because it appears to be able to go straight through my internet instead of the mobile network. The problem I found is that messages sent through my tablet or pc never show up in my phone.

That option would appear if you were syncing with an external calendar - a google calendar, iCal, exchange account calendar, something like that.
Since it is important for you to keep records of all these calendar entries, I would actually suggest that you do this.
One way, if you have a Mac computer, would be to use iCal on the computer, and sync the iCal calendar with your free iCloud account, and sync the iPhone claendar with iCloud as well. That way your calendar is effectively backed up twice, the sync on iCloud, and the entries on your computer in iCal.
Another option would be get a free google gmail account. Setup that on google as an IMAP mail account. Also on google, now create a calendar for that same gmail account. Then set the gmail account up on your iPhone and select the option to use it's calendar as your default calendar - it will sync the entries with the google online copy of your calendar (which can in turn be sync'd with your computer - iCal on a Mac, or outlook on a PC).
This way, you'll have a duplicate copy of the calendar in at least one, if not two independent places (independent from the iPhone itself that is).
Hopefully someone else may offer a way to recover from backup the original iPhone calendar. I've always used my gmail account calendar(s) as my master calendars and just sync'd everything else with them, so I've never dealt with loosing information from an purely local iPhone calendar (one just on the iPhone itself).

Apple Watch Phone App Low Volume

The sound coming out of my Apple Watch during a phone conversation is very low even though the slider is set to maximum. Is anyone else experiencing this ?

Nope. Mine pretty loud... like a speaker phone on iPhone (almost)!. Any plastic cover still there by chance on your watches that might be muffling the speaker?

'Messages' app - missing

Hi, I have a MacBook Air running on Mac OS X version 10.7.5 - and can not find the built-in app Messages anywhere on my machine. Does anyone know how I install it? It doesn't seem to be avavilable in the app store.

TS4036 I have an issue with the last OS update and missing contact info on my iphone 5

Since being prompted by my iPhone 5 to do a OS update,I did so,checked where appropraite to proceed with the OS update at the prompts,screen on phone went thru a couple of iCloud questions,and I proceeded.OS downloaded,everything was I guess ok,until,I noticed that half or more of my phone contacts are missing,everything from a to k is there,everything from l to z is gone...I need those contacts restored!!! *** happened???? Where did they go,I do remember somewhere where I clicked on something to do with the iCloud,but I didn't think it would erase half of my phone contact list.I really need those phone number back.Any clues on how to restore these?? I've already sync'd my phone with my computer,and tried to figure out on my phone what to do,but no luck. Rob

Last point...who archives? On my regular email page I now have the Archive icon to the left of my Delete icon which I would prefer was to the left, first in the line as this is the icon I use mostly. With Folders, my Sent and Trash lists, who needs to archive?
I can help you only with the placement of the icon placement -- if you right-mouse click on the toolbar, then select Customize Toolbar, you can move an icon to where you want it to be.
