Apple widgets are losing their icons???

howdy,
just noticed someting, perhaps a small but.
a couple of my original apple widgets (stickies, stocks & world clock) have lost their custom icons and have reverted to the "default" widget icon.
all of this is taking place in my dashboard "filecabinet" (where all the additional widgets are stored).
anyone else noticing this, is it just a bug or is dashboard slowly disintegrating itself?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. If you mean in ~/Library/Widgets/ (the user's Widget folder) then Apple's standard Widgets like World Clock shouldn't be in there. They live in /Library/Widgets/ & are owned by System (root). Even admin users only have 'read only' access to them, so you should not be able to give them custom icons or move them without resorting to Terminal to 'hack' permissions. This very likely would be undone by permissions repairs & may be why the icons revert to defaults.

Front panel class objects are missing their icons in the runtime engine

I have this project that contain some class objects. When run in the developer environment, the icons appear fine.
However when I build as an executable and run it in the runtime engine, the icons are missing.
These missing icons are purely cosmetic and the underlying logic works without a problem. Is there anyway to get these icons to display when built as an executable?

Some keys on my N900 are losing their black paint ...

So far just 4 keys have shown this problem, including the space bar. The bad news is that when the black paint starts to goes, the white plastic underneath is illuminated from below and the keys are difficult to read. I think it may be that the keyboard paint was damaged by some suntan cream when I was abroad. (I have heard of sun cream doing this to the paint in car interiors.)
Does anyone know if the keyboard is user-replaceable without a lot of brain surgery on the phone? Is a workshop manual available online? Is the keyboard a cheap part?
I'd appreciate the answers from a knowledgeable poster.

they are in UK.
it is the global/USA/EU version kb.
pretty cheap and simple to change. you just need a t5 torx and a micro phillips #1 or 2 will work.
take the battery cover off, the battery out, use the phillips to take out the middle left and the middle right screws. then use the torx to take out the two bottom screws.
this will lighten the presure from the screen and release the kb cover to use a drivers license or thin plastic piece to pop the kb cover up (start by the spacebar)
then just slide the new kb in and rescrew it ..... gently,...and you are done.

Keep losing button icons

A short while ago I had a problem with all apple apps losing their icon pictures (can only see the button) I followed the reply and did a safe mode restart and all came back and was working well. now the only way to get the buttons to display correctly is to boot into safe mode first and then do a restart back into normal mode. I am at a loss on how to fix or find out where the problem is coming from Plese help me out. I have all the latest updates

Apple widgets keep appearing when installing new downloaded widgets

hi,
i do not use apple widgets at all. i dont need to know the weather, i dont like skying and i prefer to search google on safari. I always hide them, with the dashboard manager.
everything is fine until i have to add a new widget: after it is installed, the apple widgets are there again, and i have to hide them all over.
Is this a bug? is my system wrong? is there anyway to keep this annoyance from happening?

i remember i had the developer mode on in my dashboard.
"defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES"
i tried everything again, downloaded istat nano again with the developer mode off, and now things dont go back to default. I guess it was that "mod" what was giving me trouble.

Im having problems with my Kids facetime accounts that seem to be because they are both using my itunes and there are conflicts with multiple email addresses? Is it possible to now set the kids up with their own accounts without losing their apps etc

I have my kids using iTunes via thier ipods etc through my own account and this hase been the case for some time?
This has started to cause issues lately with imessaging and facetime, as there seems to be a limit on email addresses that can be associated with one account?
I wonder if I would be best off setting the kids up with their own accounts, but want to be able to do this without them losing their existing apps, music etc?
Is this possible, if so is there a simple process cos I can seem to find anything relating to this?

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

Yes, it doesn't work. I ran in safe mode. nothing changed. I uninstalled Mozilla firefox with only standard removal, no change. I finally uninstalled Mozilla with complete removal and reinstalled it, then it return to normal. Why does this happen? Thanks for your reply.

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Try restarting all devices including portable iOS ones and your router.
Check Airplay is not disabled in AppleTVs settings.

Why are not my Apple widgets movies and stocks not working? I reloaded operating system(per genius bar) to no avail

I have mountain lion and all of a sudden my Apple widgets: movies and stocks do not work. The movies comes up blank and the stock one lists my stocks but no longer with updated prices. It gives current articles at the bottom and says" retireving data". The genius bar said I needed to re-install my operating system which I did- but no difference. The stocl app works fine on iphone. And, screen usage to scroll with track pad and/or mouse does not respond. Get right side choices even tho I have used tracp pad and/or mouse.

after my last apple software update, most of the standard widgets that come built into dashboard have gone haywire. in the 'widgets' widget (the one that allows you to turn widgets on and off, sort by date, etc.), the standard apple widgets, such as weather, stocks, address book, calendar, etc., are now labeled with the widgets icon (i.e. the black square w/ four icons).
i can't install any of them to my dashboard, and the ones that i had on my dashboard have disappeared.
any ideas on how to fix this?

To reinstall the original Apple widgets you can use Pacifist. This program allows you to install individual files or folders, without reinstalling the whole OS. It takes some searching on your install disk where the widgets are located, but it works.

You might have a 3rd party plugin that isn't compatible with Safari 4.0.4. Go here for help...

If you are using a USB hub, try disconnecting and restarting with just your keyboard and mouse connected.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

It contains fixes that might help. Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

I have a MacBook Pro 2008 with 17 inch screen. Experiencing a lock up when turning on power to boot up. While booting up it goes to gray screen with Apple logo and disc spinning icon running and doesn't go to my desktop. Any solutions to the problem?

I have an early 2009 17 inch MacBook Pro that just went on the fritz. When turning on the power it will go into boot up mode to the gray screen with the apple logo, then the disc icon will be running and will continue running, not allowing to proceed to my desk top screen. It's pretty much locked up at this point where I have to do a forced shut down by holding down the power button. I've tried everything that I know of such as taking battery out and pressing power button for 5 seconds and then reinstalling battery. I've cleaned inside of computer with compressed air duster in can as well as other key commands for resets. I've read that this is a common problem with the earlier MacBook Pros. Is this a problem that I can fix or does it have to be taken in for service? Any solutions to the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Java Help For Apple Widget Program

I'm working on a Apple Widget and I have a question for the JS part of it.
I want multiple elements to fade out when the widget loads up, I can get one element to fade out, but how do I get multiple elements to fade out on the same onLoad event.
Here is the code to get one item to fade out.

You just might get an answer here, but the majority of regulars refuse to address javascript questions here, as a matter of principle... even though the same people are happy to answer the same questions on the javascript forums. Go figure.
