Apple will replace MacBook Pro bought less than 14 days ago 4 new C2D free!

I have just got off to the phone to the Apple Store, and the rep I spoke to has said that because I am still within the 14 day return period, they will replace my used MacBook Pro Core duo, for the newly released upgrade free of charge, and will refund the £50 price difference.
It looks like my MacBook Woes will soon be soothed with another new, and 'hopefully' perfect machine!

I know, I know -- they DO have it in writing. In fact, since my MacBook Pro is customized (I added an extra 512mb of RAM), according to the agreement, it should not be returnable at all.
Good news, though! There is some sort of "price protection" thing that Apple has - because the new machines came out so soon after I bought it (10 days after I placed the online order! Agh, I wish I would have waited :P), I was able to get $300 back. I didn't even know such a thing existed, but the rep checked on it and told me I was eligible, so my bank account will be credited in a few days It makes the fact that I missed out on the Core 2s by just a few days easier to deal with, at least.

  • HT1338 The battery life of my Macbook Pro lasts less than what is indicated in the specs. It is a real nuisance!!! especially when I'm in a meeting and have to utilize my Mac laptop!

I am having trouble with the duration of my Macbook Pro battery. It does nt lasts as long as what is indicated in the battery specs. Is there something wrong with my battery? I have charged it as required when I bought my Mac. Is this another overlooked and over-estimated presentation of Apple? Please enlighten my perceptions regarding this matter. Thanks

how old is the battery?  How many charge cycles are on the battery?
You can get this information by opening the application "System Information" in the folder "/Applications/Utilities".  Select the informtion from the "Hardware > Power" section
    It should look something like:
In this case I have 35 charge cycles on the battery.  The larger this number the more likely it is that you will have less actual usable capacity.

  • Bought a MacBook Pro middle of 6 days ago. Will I get Lion for free?

Someone bought me a MacBook Pro six days ago whilst they were in America, and now Lion is out. I heard that if you'd bought a computer after the announcement date you'd get Lion for free when it was released. Is that true?

Yes you can get Lion for free. Instructions are on this page.  http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/

  • Will a MacBook Pro bought in the us work in the uk

Going back to America in June.. If I buy a MacBook Pro will it work ok in the uk.... Anyone help me on this.

Of course. The warranty will still be valid in the United States, and the only thing you might have to buy is a US power adapter in order to be able to charge your computer in the United States

  • Will a macbook pro bought in china work in the uk?

    Hello,
I am thinking about buying a macbook pro 13" in Shanghai. However, I am moving back to Scotland in the summer and have converns that some things will not work. For example, will the DVD player work and also will the socket at the mains be a problem. I'm a bit of a luddite so any advice would be great.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Kevin, if you don't want to splash out on the Universal Adapter kit, you can use a standard figure-of-eight power lead as used for radios, CD Players and a whole lot of other electrical/electronic devices.
Most electrical stores should be able to get a spare, or you can just borrow one from another unit.

  • Will a MacBook Pro case from 2009 fit my new MacBook Pro?

So I just bought a new 13" MacBook Pro w/o retina display from Apple and there's a case I'm looking to buy for a 13" MacBook Pro w/o retina display, but the case was made in 2009. Are there any structural differences between the two? Can I still use this case?
Thanks for reading, please let me know!

That will fit the latest model. I stand corrected.

  • How come the repair cost of a MacBook Pro cost more than a brand new unit?

My nephew bought her Mac Book Pro last June 2012. During the time that floods hit metro manila where she is studying, her Mac Book Pro (13in) happend to have been damped wet by water. Still running but it seems the batter got problem.  So she brought her unit to SM North Edsa ( Annex) Mac Center for possible repair.  The Mac Center told my nephew that the unit will be brought somewhere  in Mandaluyong - Apple Service Center.   After a few days she received a message from the Mac Center telling her that the repair cost will be a whooping P88,000.00  almost twice the cost of her unit when she bought it. My sister ( my nephew's mother) was fuming asking me how come the cost of repair is so great, it is better to buy a new one.
Is this really true?  I wonder what others may have experienced bringing their unit for repair and finding out that the cost of repair is such... APPLE IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS...  IS THIS THE KIND OF AFTER SALES SERVICE THAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU... PLEASE explain it to me.. thanks

And mind you dear APPLE believers, this also happens to my BOSS' Mac Book Air, which was brought also to an Apple Center for repair due to White Screen of Death... The repair center told my boss that the repair would cost him P68,000 pesos... the new Mac Book Air is only P47,990.00.   Who in his right mind agree to such a repair cost which costs more than a brand new unit...  If this is so... then APPLE is not a good brand after all...  Anyone who had the same story?
BTW  i tried to revive the unit by following some repair tips from the internet... and I was able to revive it without spending a dime.... I am not a technician... just wondering what kind of SKILLS those technicians at the Apple Repair Centers have in the Philippines...

  • TS1292 I have a new macbook pro bought around a month ago so either the end of June or the beginning of July I know I should have a free upgrade to Snow Lion how do I get it

I should have a free upgrade to Snow Lion since the Macbookpro is around a month old now I have tried to upgrade to Snow Lion from the App store but it wants me to buy it . How do I get the free upgrade?

iWork! But Office 2008 or 2011 will run fine on Lion
Lion is awesome, and if you purchased your MacBook Pro since June 6th, go here to get a free copy> http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
The bugs are few and far apart

  • I have just purchased my first Apple computer, a MacBook Pro, running Lion (10.7.4).  My wife bought her MacBook Pro six months ago.  I had data from my old PC transferred to my new MacBook, but, for some reason, my superuser ID comes up as my wife.

I have just purchased a MacBook Pro.  My wife's MacBook Pro is less than a year old.  When I start up my new computer, it thinks I am my wife and gives me the option of logging on as my wife or as a guest user.  How do I correct this misidentification?  Thanks.  [email protected]

This sounds like you may have migrated in Setup Assistant from her MBP?
EDIT: (Or whatever you migrated from the PC had her account data)
I also think you mean your login ID, not the Superuser, unless you've enabled root. In that case it would say "root"
Let's try it easy first. Create a new account and make it an Admin. Name it your name or whatever. This will be your account. Next login as your wife and move ehatever Documents you want from that account into /Users/Shared.
Now log back into your own account and drag the items from the Shared folder into your Documents folder.
If this works and you no longer need your wife's account on the Mac you can delete it in System Preferences > Users&Groups.

Hi i bought a Macbook Pro 8 & a half mounths ago.Today i had the hard drive replaced as it was faulty and on Monday i have to take it back to the Apple shop to have the Motherboard replaced. I feel that i should be asking for a new macbook, where do i stand.

Yes thats what i thought but i only have 77 days left on my garentee so its a worry, and have to drive 1 hour to get to closest Apple shop, spent the whole day there today when i should have been at work and have to make the drive again on Monday Then back again next Friday to pick it up. I paid over £1000 ponds for this computer so wouldnt expect it to have its insides replaced befor a year. Feel very let down, and no longer love my macbook pro.

    Dear John,
thank you for your prompt reply. After I sent the email, I left the wheel spinning to see if it would eventually stop. It didn't, but after a while the screen turned blue, so I decided to switch everything off with a forced shut-down. I could not restart with the OS DVDs because I am currently away from home, but fortunately everything was more or less fine after restarting. It then got stuck again, I forced it shut again, restarted again, and now it seem to work but I won't overdo it and will switch off smoothly after writing this (unless it gets stuck again). Last April I have replaced the HD, so it's now just under 6 months old. And, of course, since the crash occurred when I was abroad and had backed up just before I left, I have lost only a few days' work. Still, and I know this will make me hugely unpopular here, with my 5 previous laptops running on MS Windows I never had a problem. Which does not mean I loved the OS, or I would not have switched to Mac.
Anyway, and this is the main reason for this message, thank you very much again for your speedy intervention.
    Claudia

  • Can I use an USB disc with my macbook pro bought in 2005.  What capacity will it take 2.00 or 3.00?

can I use an USB disc with my macbook pro bought in 2005.  What capacity will it take 2.00 or 3.00?

The first MacBook Pro's were not released until the beginning of 2006, and they had USB 2 ports.
Anything available new in 2005 would have been a PowerBook G4 and they also had USB 2 ports.
A USB 3 disk will just transfer data slower then it could do, if you plug it into a USB 2 port though, so you can buy either.

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • HT1766 I broke my screen and the phone is only a little over a month!  Is there an option that is less than getting a new phone?  We bought a replacement but it's too complicated.

I broke the screen to my new iPhone 4s and we purchased a new screen online but it is too complicated to install.  Any solutions you can provide that won't be too expensive?

    Yes.
You can get it replaced at the Apple Store Genius Bar for far less than the retail cost for replacement.
So the user won't have to pay the retail cost for a replacement if they get it replaced?
You mean they won't have to pay the price for a new phone to replace the broken phone with a refurbished phone thru Apple.
