Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007) will not connect

I just got an Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007 aluminum) and it will not connect to any computer that I have tried it on. This is at my work, so I have multiple machines to try it on. I tried it on a couple MacBook Pro's, and several different Mini's.
When I start the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and select "Keyboard" and click continue, it does not find anything. ( http://screencast.com/t/Pev6sLaH )
If I then turn the keyboard off and then back on it will find it. So I click continue so that it can pair with is and it fails, saying it was not discoverable. ( http://screencast.com/t/D0SNKMDR )
If I turn if off and then back on while it is trying to pair, that does not help.
Is the keyboard just DOA? Or am I missing something? I have read the users manual, searched the Apple support KB, and Googled for an answer but found nothing. I am thinking it might just be a bad keyboard but wanted to check here first.

Just to follow up as of today the key board is now paired.
Go figure why one day it will not work then the next day it will.
After reading many of the comments here there must be some sort of software issue with Snow Leopard.

  • I have an RK713A wireless keyboard which will not connect

I have an RK713A wireless keyboard which will not connect. The mouse is working fine but the keyboard won't. I have tried pressing the blue connect button on the back of the keyboard.

    Hi,
There are a couple of quick things to check-
Make sure that the batteries are good (I'd suggest trying a fresh set) and make sure that they are inserted correctly.
    Has the keyboard ever worked?
    Thanks,

  • I have an Apple wireless keyboard that will not turn on, even with new batteries.  The contacts seem fine.  What could be the problem?

My wireless keyboard will not turn on despite new batteries.  It is about 8 years old. The contacts seem to be good.  What could be the problem?

    Hi elljohnson,
It is important when replacing discharged batteries in the Apple Wireless Keyboard to make sure the new batteries are oriented correctly. See this article for directions -

  • Apple Wireless Key Board Will Not Connect (Pair)

Well, now I am having pair problems with Apple key board.
Have replaced the batteries and still had no effect.
Have done everything by the book but with no luck.
Had been working just fine until a few days ago.
Trying to pair it with a Macbook Pro 2.66. (late June 2009).
Trashed the com.apple.bluetooth.plist still will not pair.
    Tried: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html
    However this did not help.
The mighty mouse connects with no problem.
Now I must admit I have had nothing but on going problems since installing Snow Leopard.
Never had any issues until Snow Leopard. Go figure.

  • Why my Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007) wont pair with my Imac mid 2011 (MacOS 10.7.4)?

Hi there and thanks in advance for the support.
Now we have an apple wireless keyboard 2007 and an Imac mid 2011 with Mac OS X 10.7.4 that won't connect. We had the keyboard the IMac brought but now it's lost and we need to get our old wireless keyboard to work with it.
It's discoverable (we know this because it blinks and appears on the devices list on the BT setup assistant) but it wont pair or even give us the "enter the passcode" to try. We tried the "do not use a passcode with this device" and then the following comes out "the pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported."
What can we do? It sounds like you guys in apple development didn't create this connecting option. Is it true?
Buying a new one is no option nor for our pockets neither our moral. Please let us know about solutions.
    Gracias

Might be corrupted Bluetooth preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy and paste the following:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash
Make sure the keyboard has fresh batteries then try pairing the keyboard.
If that didn't help, update your Mac's software to v10.7.5. Open System Preferences > Software Update > Check Now
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed, then try pairing again.

  • Serial Number fo Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007)

Hi, I bought a re-certified *Apple Wireless Keyboard (2007)* from the online Apple Store.
Where can I obtain the serial number for this product?
    Thank you.

Thanks - I live about 500 miles from an Apple Store, so that's kind of not so good. :-/
I ended up calling (since I was still in the 90 day support window), and found out that it was covered as part of the Mini's warranty. That was the good news.
3 days later the replacement keyboard came. It was the full-sized plastic keyboard...in Spanish. :-/
After another call, and 3 more days, the replacement keyboard came. It was the full-sized plastic keyboard...but in English.
I am now waiting for replacement #3, and hoping it's the aluminum keyboard in English.

  • TS1559 Since upgrading my iPhone5 to the newest iOS (6.1.2) I can longer connect to WiFi. It sees the wireless network but will not connect.. Other devices in my home that weren't upgraded can connect just fine.

I had the same problem.  I did the reset networks on my iPhone & it did not work.  My husband read somewhere that changing the channel on the router to manual & selecting the highest available channel number might help.  I did that & it solved the problem.  I have not had the problem since.

The key @ is switched with >. I use belgium apple keyboard layout. In Mac OS it works fine. Any ideas? I also have caps lock issue that others have.

  • I have 2 Apple Wireless Keyboards (old style, not flat) that will not pair.

    Hello.
I own a MBpro, A Mac Pro, and a Mac Mini. I have 2 Apple Wireless Keyboards (the old style with the extended keyboard and transparent case with white keys). Neither keyboard will pair on any system.
The Macs see one of the keyboards just fine but refuse to pair it when I type the 8-digit pass phrase and the return key. Also no luck if I try without a passkey. The other keyboard cannot even be detected by any system.
Is this keyboard design just plain defective? This is the third one (there's also one at work) that refuses to pair. If I have to purchase another one, then this one will end up smashed on Apple's showroom floor. I've about had it with these things.
    Please help if you can.

    Hello Steve:
I have not had a similar problem so I am fishing a bit. I think the problem is rooted in what I thought in my previous post.
    Now, how to fix it?
    Try this:
Go to system preferences>bluetooth. Delete any KB entries there. Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist). Be sure that on and discoverable are checked in the BT preference pane. Restart your computer.
Hopefully, whatever KB you have turned on will be "discovered."

  • Apple Wireless keyboard layout does not match

Hello, I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use with my iPad. It connects fine but the layout is not recognised. The wireless keyboard is Azerty but in the iPad when I type I get qwerty. The touchscreen keyboard of my iPad is also azerty so I did not expect this to happen. Cannot find where to change any setting to get this fixed. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

As far as I can find there is only the one...some countries have more than one language and could have more than one layout but it may be a marketing thing with Apple...choosing the layout that will have the largest number of people using it rather than all options.

  • Apple TV (1st gen) will not connect to iTunes

I am at wit's end. Until a couple of days ago, my 1st gen Apple TV connected fine to iTunes. Now, it will not connect no matter what. I have tried the following:
    1) restart both ATV and my machine (Win 7 running iTunes 10.7)
    2) restored ATV factory settings and reinstalled software
    3) hard-wire via ethernet to my computer (which some articles seemed to indicate should work - nothing happened)
    4) hard-wired both my cpu and ATV to a router - nothing shows up
    5) removed and reinstalled all Apple programs, including iTunes, QT and ancillary
    6) vaired between hard-wired internet connection and wireless for ATV
    7) did everything on this page, including open ports manually http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1453
Most frustrating of all, my wife sees the device instantly in her iTunes. AGHH!

Same thing happened to me, starting right after I  updated the Apple TV firmware. I restarted both devices to no avail. I can, however, play my itunes library content from the apple TV's "computer" app. So there must be some kind of connection. What I've lost is the ability to stream music from iTunes using AppleTV as an "airplay" device.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard brightness keys not functioning since 10.8.4

    Hey all,
since the new update, I've been experiencing several malfunctions, among which the two brightness keys on the Apple Wireless Keyboard. Every other key seems to be working as usual.
I tried resetting the P-Ram, but nothing changed.
    Any hints?
    Thanks,
    Z
    Setup:
MacBook Pro 13", Apple Thunderbolt Display, Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple Trackpad

    Reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If it doesn't work, reinstall OS X 10.8.4 through the Combo edition > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659 This will reinstall everything which was updated in 10.8.4, so it should fix this issue

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - some keys not working with iPhone 5

I just bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard (2011) and paired it with my iphone 5 (iOS 7.0.3).
All keys work except the following:
    Space bar
    Delete
    Caps Lock
    Down Arrow
    Tab
I can understand if iOS has no concept of Tab, but Space and Delete are essential.
