Apple wireless keyboard not accessible in Bootcamp.

Before I installed the Snow Leopard Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7, my Apple wireless keyboard worked with Windows. Not it no longer is recognized, and it gives an error message when I try to add it as a Bluetooth device. I know the keyboard is recognized by only a single macintosh computer at a time when running it with OSX.
1. Has the installation of Boot Camp drivers made it similarly that the keyboard now "thinks" the Windows Boot Camp partition is a different computer?
2. Is there any way to fix things so the keyboard is able to be used by both the Windows 7 and the OS X 10.6.1 partitions on this single computer? Thank you.
Sincerely,
Wilson

Both the Apple Wireless Keyboard and the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse can be setup to work properly under Boot Camp from OS X Snow Leopard running Windows 7 (x32 or x64). The way to get it to work is as follows:
1. Turn off the device you wish to setup via Bluetooth
2. Click on the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar and select the option to Add a Bluetooth Device.
3. Power on the device you wish to setup via Bluetooth and wait until the Setup Bluetooth Device window recognizes the device.
4. **Important** Do not Click on the Device and click Next, this will not work.
5. Right-click on the device you wish to setup via Bluetooth in the Setup Bluetooth Device window and select properties.
6. Wait until the Bluetooth Services window finishes checking for available services.
7. Click the checkbox next to the HID Keyboards & Mice service.
8. Wait for Windows to finish installing the device driver.
9. Click OK on the Setup Bluetooth Device Window
10. Close the Setup Bluetooth Device Window
11. Congratuations, your device is now setup to work with Windows 7
Hope this helps. I've tested it multiple times and it works. I can't take credit for the solution, it was posted elsewhere on these forums, but I can't for the life of me find the darn thread again.
EDIT: Found the original thread. Here's the link and credit to S-Eye for the solution: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2057008&tstart=0

  • F# keys on Apple Wireless Keyboard not working correctly.

    Hello everyone,
Today I bought a brand new Apple Wireless Keyboard (the small ones who resemble laptop keyboards), which I'm very glad I bought as some keys on my older keyboard started not working anymore.
I configured the keyboard with bluetooth and it's working just fine, except for one thing:
The F# keys don't work as their respective icons indicate (i.e. If I press F10, F11 and/or F12, the volume isn't affected as it normally should, but instead the keys don't seem to respond, as if I weren't pressing them).
In the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences, under the Keyboard Shortcuts, I managed to reset the F1 to F4 keys so they work as their respective icons indicate, though I didn't find and don't know how to create any shortcuts to make the volume keys (F10, F11 & F12) work again.
Also, I would appreciate if you could help me out to reset the F7, F8 & F9 keys, which don't work either.
I tried checking and un-checking the "Use the keys F1, F2 and so on, as standard function keys." option under the Keyboard tab, and pressing the "fn" key while pressing the F# keys, but none of those attempts seem to change anything to how the F# keys work.
I don't know what else to do anymore and I would really appreciate some help now.
Thanks in advance for your responses,
    Oscar.

Shutdown your macbook. After thats done , switch the wireless keyboard off. Press Shift + Ctrl + Option  + Power Key (all together ) and then release together. Start up the macbook and once that's up start up the keyboard.Try now.The keys should work fine.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard not connecting

I started up my iMac this morning to notice that the keyboard was not connected, meaning I could not enter my password. The moment I started typing a dialogue would pop up to pair a wireless keyboard. Near the bottom it said "attempting to connect to Apple Wireless Keyboar #1" but after a few seconds it just said "no devices found. It just repeats this process over and over. I've replaced the batteries and tried resetting the keyboard but neither solved the problem... Is there any way to force pair? I don't have access to another keyboard and need to use my computer. Please help!

Sadly, I think you're stuck without a USB KB at this point.

  • Apple Bluetooth keyboard not pairing under Bootcamp/Windows7

My Apple keyboard that came with MacPro1.1 does not pair when using it with BootCamp and Windows 7. I installed bootcamp and Windows7 today. My machine is running OSX 10.6.8 and Bluetooth software version 2.4.5f3. The Apple mouse pairs under Windows but the keyboard doesn't. I have searched through forums and learned that I need to do the following:
a- Change Bluetooth drivers under Windows to Apple drivers,
b- First rename then remove both mouse and keyboard under OSX,
c- Add both mouse and keyboard under Windows 7.
d- Add both mouse and keyboard under OSX.
During step c above, the mouse pairs without ant problem but the keyboard does not. The keyboard is discovered but does not ask for a code to pair as it does under OSX. I do not have Apple keyboardand Mouse firmware upgrade CD (why would Apple not provide it as a download?).
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you ever fix it?

and to me, reinstalling the whole OS is out of question

  • Apple wireless keyboard not turning on after replacing batteries.

Yesterday, I got a message telling me that my battery was low in my keyboard. So, today I replaced the batteries (new) but my keyboard won't turn on at all! Please help!

Does the green light not come on?
Bad batteries or batteries inserted wrong, that's about all there is.

  • APPLE mouse & keyboard not working with Windows (Bootcamp)

I installed Leopard and Windows XP on my Mac Pro. The installation went very smoothly. Only problem I have is that my Apple wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on Windows (frozen) although they work fine on Leopard. I tried a Logitech wireless trackball and it works fine on both Windows and Leopard. Any suggestion?

Thanks. I upgraded from Tiger and downloaded Bootcamp from Leopard Installation disc ( I did not have a beta version ). I then installed Windows XP SP2 ( brand new, just bought for that purpose ). Wonder if Mac wireless keyboard and mouse are compatible with Window. Everything else work beyond my expectation.

  • Key fn + Backspace does not work with apple wireless keyboard

    Hello,
I want to user the WIndows Key DEL. However, the apple wireless keyboard dosn't have such a key. I read, that FN + Backspace will solve this. It does not work on my apple wireless keyboard. I'm using BootCamp 3.2 and WIndows XP, running on a Mac Mini 2010.
In addition, I also read, that FN + Cursor Left sould work like POS1. But this doesn't work, too.
Windows shows for the keyboard: Deutsch (Apple)

  • I'm having issues with my apple wireless keyboard and bootcamp 5

I'm having issues with my apple wireless keyboard.
I just bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard for my ThinkPad E430 but the keys are not compatible.
I installed BootCamp 5 and it worked great but whenever I restart, it changes my system's time.

What do you mean by racing around in circles? Have you done any damage to your phone? Like drop it or get it wet?

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard is lagging and disconnecting when using Macbook Pro via Bootcamp

    Hey guys,
I am using my Macbook Pro (I think from 2009) with an external monitor and the apple wireless keyboard (connection via Bluetooth).
First when I set up Bootcamp everything worked fine. But now suddenly the keyboard is lagging (letters sometimes appear after a few seconds or get stuck and typed 20 times or something) and randomly completely disconnecting.
I already downloaded the newest drivers for Boot Camp 64bit from the apple website, but this didnt solve my problem.
I tried disconnecting the keyboard on mac and then reconnecting on the Windows 7 partition again. Also didn't work.
Of course I had to reconnect the keyboard when on the mac.
But it's not that it's not working. I'm using the keyboard via Bootcamp right now. It's just that it's randomly doing this...
Now I don't know what to do. Do some of you have the same issues or have any ideas that might help?

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse + Bootcamp = screensaver problems

I can't seem to get the screensaver to activate when using the apple wireless keyboard and mouse under windows XP with Bootcamp.
I know its a problem with the wireless devices because if i restart the computer and not press anything (ie. mouse or keyboard) then the screensaver will work.
However as soon as I press the mouse or move the cursor around, the screensaver will fail to activate on its own, or if it activates, it will wake itself up even if I don't move the mouse or press the keyboard.
    Any solutions?

Hi Capfred: Thank you for your replay. I have tried to follow your information but unable to solve the problem. I followed your comments but I am unable to get to the menu you mention. I have installed MAC OS X, Version 10.7.2 .
The only thing that works is the Apple last wireless mouse. I belive that I must have done something that created this situation. My problem is that I live in Panama, Central America and the local Apple dealer has little to no tech support.
Would it be possible for me to call you and review the config of these items or is there a way to restore the Macbook Air to the original installation .
I appreciate your kind help and once again thank you for your help. Regards,

  • HT3917 My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed

My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed.

Do you get a steady green light to say there is a connection.    If not, are the batteries the right way round.   Do you have a monitor to tell the batteries strength. Is there a reading.   Are the batteries good quality ones, Duracell, Energiser or Apple rechargeables.

  • FN key not working on Apple Wireless Keyboard

EDIT: Found the culprit: USB Overdrive was taking over the external keyboard. After disabling USB Overdrive for the keyboard, the FN key started working again.
I have Macbook Air (Mid 2013) connected to a Cinema Display and Apple Wireless Keyboard. MBA is running the latest Yosemite (10.10).
I tried using FN + Delete on the wireless keyboard to forward delete but it didn't work, it just deleted. I tried other keyboard shortcuts that require the use of FN key, and none of them work either. But when I try these directly on the MBA's keyboard, the FN key works perfectly there, just not on the wireless keyboard.
I've removed the bluetooth keyboard and tried reconnecting, restarting computer, login out and back in. Nothing works. Anyone have any ideas?

I disabled "Any Keyboard, Any Application" and "Any Other, Any Application" but I still could not use my Fn key on my Apple Wireless Keyboard. Uninstalling (removing the driver) restored Fn key functionality. In addition downgrading from 3.1 to 3.0.2 on Yosemite also solved this issue.
Did you actually try what you wrote?
I should also note that the Fn key on my rMBP's internal keyboard works with 3.1, oddly enough, but the Apple Wireless Keyboard's Fn key does not.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard - Shift + 'r' key not working. It doesn't capitalise the letter. Can someone help please. Thank you.

    Hi all,
I am having some problem with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. It has not problem connecting to both my iPad mini / iPhone 4S.
The problem comes when I start to type with it. All the keys are functioning will, except when I am trying to capitalise the letter 'r'.
I tried using Shift + r. It doesn't work, regardless whether I use the left or right Shift key.
Any someone help please. Thank you.

If your Macbook is less than a year old, it is under warranty. A repair of of a problem of this kind would be free. So, if you have a warranty, have the problem fixed by Apple.
If your Macbook is more than one year old, please tell us what operating system you are running, and any other information that would help understand what is going on.
If you do get the keyboard to work for a short time, long enough to post back, please unlock the "caps lock" button.
