Apple Wireless Trackpad?

Recently I bought an Apple Wireless Trackpad for my MacBook Pro. The first day it worked properly but after that I found that it becomes unusable after a while. Whenever I close the top and reopen it the trackpad starts to dance on the screen and it's impossible to click it to the point where I want it. After restarting the laptop it works again but after a while a while the problem occurs again.
I went back to the store and got a new one however at home I discovered the new trackpad has the same problem! I am now beginning to think it may be something with the blue tooth connection of the MacBook. Does anyone have suggestions to solve this?

That the green light goes off is significant.   The rest period may have allowed any soiling to solidify.   You need to remove the batteries, clean the inside of the compartment and the contacts, clean the battery terminals in case they have got contaminated (better to use a new set) and replace the batteries ... and (hopefully) go.
Do not use dime a dozen batteries, they tend to have a depleted charge. or may be the wrong size.   Some cheaper batteries are not the right size and do not connect properly.

  • Can't connect Apple Wireless Trackpad to MacBook Pro

I have a 15" MacBook Pro that is about 6 months old running Lion. I have a Magic Mouse and a Wireless Trackpad. I always use the track pad. I have the same setup at home as at work. Yesterday I worked from home, today I'm back at work, but now my Trackpad at work won't connect. My magic mouse connects just fine. I replaced the batteries and that didn't help. I got another wireless trackpad off of someone else's desk and it won't connect either. So it seems to be just an issue with the Trackpad as my Magic Mouse works fine. But I prefer the trackpad because the magic mouse flares up my RSI.

Nevermind. I fiddled & fiddled an it finally connecting. It seemed to work when I was in the wireless trackpad connection screen, while searching for the device I would hold the button on my trackpad until the light turned off, then pressed it once again. It then pulled up the name of my trackpad. I selected the name of the trackpad and while it was trying to connect I did the same thing - hold the button down until the light turned off, then clicked it once immediately after.
Now I see why they call it a magic trackpad. It requires magic to get it to connect.

  • Apple wireless trackpad unresponsive

Lately my wireless trackpad either freezes or becomes unresponsive to gestures (scrolling, etc.) but will navigate by moving the pointer manually so the ocmputer does "see" it.  Restarting the computer generally resolves the issue, but that's annoying and should be necessary. The batteries have sufficient charge, the computer recognizes the trackpad, but it simply dowsn't function properly. Any suggestions?

May or may not help (but cannot hurt) - reset the PRAM and SMC.

  • Apple Magic Trackpad questions

    Hello,
I bought yesterday a Magic Trackpad from Apple, after reading it was supported in 2.6.37. Pairing it with my Bluetooth USB dongle was quite easy using blueman-applet, and I read on several webpages that 'synaptics' driver was working with the trackpad, so I copied the lines from this post to my xorg.conf:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Magic Trackpad"
    MatchUSBID "05ac:030e"
    Driver "synaptics"
    Option "SHMConfig" "On"
    EndSection
The problem I'm facing is that Xorg.0.log show the following suspecting error:
    [ 178.543] (EE) Query no Synaptics: 6003C8
[ 178.543] (--) Apple Wireless Trackpad: no supported touchpad found
[ 178.543] (EE) Apple Wireless Trackpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
[ 178.586] (EE) PreInit failed for input device "Apple Wireless Trackpad"
    [ 178.586] (II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
(You can see almost complete Xorg.0.log here)
However I can use the trackpad with its basic features (moving the cursor around and clicking). I can even change trackpad settings with gsynaptics with no problems at all, and enable advanced features such as tap to click and two finger scrolling.
I use the the latest version of package xf86-input-synaptics, 1.3.0-2.
Did anyone have this issue with Magic Trackpad? Am I dong something wrong?

Unlike you, I'm getting no response from my Magic Trackpad!  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Already added the aforementioned "InputClass" block in my xorg.conf.  I'm using bluez with blueman and everything looks like it's connecting properly.  Blueman-manager successfully detects, pairs, trusts, and SAYS it's connecting to my input service.  Also, the data activity icons are doing their thing (no other bluetooth devices connected to this laptop).  The yellow activity icon even starts blinking when I twiddle my fingers across the trackpad.
Here's what happens in my Xorg.0.log when I open up blueman-manager:

  • Apple wireless keyboard, mouse and trackpad battery management is SO MESSED UP! HELP!

I have like 2 dozen batteries that I have swapped in the days since 10.8.4. The **** thing just drains in like 4 days. I am using apple wireless keyboard and mouse/trackpad (either at a time) with my macbook pro that is in closed lide clamshell mode less than a feet away from these devices. the batteries are draining like crazy! 3-4 days! they used to work for like weeks! i have heard in another thread that there is some bluetooth driver issue.
i know many of you would come up with things to check for like other wireless devices, etc. but like I said i have been using this since 2011 and only now since 10.8.4 they have gone crazy!
whats even more weird is that i dont think the batteries are really draining. its something to do with the battery management hardware/software that fails to see the power inside. when i remove the currently dead battery and put in one that was indicated having 0% charger i get a magically 50+ % sometimes event 80! a reboot and the figure is something else! since this is happening with all the three input devices i think its something to do with macbook pro.
    any fix?
    Neerav

    SOLUTION:
Put the devices in "Manual paring mode"
    1. Turn device off.
    2. Push and hold in power button until the LED starts flashing on and off.
    3. Try the paring procedure.
    4. It should work.
I went to the apple store and this is what they did. They got the trackpad paired no problem, but the keyboard would refuse to make connection. At first they blamed windows and didn't want to replace the keyboard because it worked fine under OSX. However I made them try one of their keyboards and it paired fine. So they ended up swapping out my keyboard for one of the newer ones and now it pairs with both windows and OSX with no problem!

  • Is there any way to connect my Apple wireless/bluetooth trackpad and keyboard to my Mac Mini without using a wired or usb keyboard?

Is there any way to connect my Apple wireless/bluetooth trackpad and keyboard to my Mac Mini without using a wired or usb keyboard?

Well, I read that already, but I am trying to start up my Mac mini(new purchase) and I cannot get to all the system preferences etc since I cannot get past the startup screens. The site also mentioned waiting to turn on the keyboard until a language was requested. Neither language screen worked. I feel as though I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.

  • Can i use Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Trackpad with my macbook air 11" 2010

Can i use new Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Trackpad with my macbook air 11" 2010?

Yes. Pair using Bluetooth with your MacBook Air.

  • 1 Macbook Air, 2 sets of Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad

i have a 2011 Macbook Air, i wish to use it at home and work,in clamshell mode so i will connect an external monitor in both but with the computer closed.
so can i have 2 sets one at home and one at work of Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Track pad ? Any issues?

Yes, you can pair all four devices with the air.  You might have minor issues if you sleep the MBair in one location and wake in the other.  The new keyboard/mouse might not connect without you connecting it via bluetooth menulet.

  • Have to "Set up Bluetooth Device" for wireless trackpad and keyboard almost every day

Almost every day when I turn on my MacBook Air in my home office, my Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad do not automatically reconnect. They used to connect just fine when I was in the viscinity, but now (for the past 6 months or so) I almost always have to:
Bluetooth > Set up Bluetooth Device
Turn off the keyboard (hold down the power button for several seconds)
Turn the keyboard back on (hold down power button for several seconds)
    Go through the setup wizard
    Repeat for the trackpad
    Things that don't work:
Pressing the button on each Bluetooth device
    Restarting each Bluetooth device
    Turning Bluetooth on and off
Setting the Bluetooth devices as "Favorites"
Selecting the device from the Bluetooth menu item and clicking "Connect"
    Rebooting my MacBook Air
    Resetting  the NVRAM / PRAM
Once the device is connected for the day, I do appear to be able to "Disconnect" and then "Connect" again from the Bluetooth menu item. The devices will also automatically reconnect by pressing a button on them. It just appears to lose the "lease" on them or whatever after a little less than a day.
I'm trying to think of other troubleshooting steps I could take and it just occurred to me that I could try swapping them with the peripherals I use at work (which are possibly newer models, but otherwise identical). Any other suggestions?

Huzzah! Less than 1 week after finally getting fed up and posting this question, I have discovered the root cause - my wife had been inadvertently stealing my keyboard and mouse connection whenever she turned on her laptop! She's using my hand-me-down MacBook Pro which I thought I had reset, but apparently it remembered its Bluetooth connections.
I had suspected something similar since I occasionally used the wireless keyboard with my iPad, but had already ruled that out.
I can't believe I figured this out after 6 months of mild frustration, but just days after posting this question

  • How do I make my wireless trackpad discoverable?

How do I make my wireless trackpad discoverable?

    Hello Shari BSW,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You can take a look at the Quick Start Guide:
    Magic Trackpad Quick Start Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1544/en_US/Magic_Trackpad_UG.pdf
Pg 4 has instructions for pairing and removing a paring. When the Magic Trackpad is not pared with a computer, turning it on puts it into discovery mode automatically (pg 3).

  • Help Setup wireless trackpad and keyboard

I have a new straight out of the box Mac mini, wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad.  How can I set these up?  I can use the trackpad to move around on the screen, but I cannot seem to click.  I can't figure out what the icons means.
      All advise appreciated.

Welcome to Apple discussions.  I am assuming you are new to Mac.  Please accept my apologies if this is a patronising assumption.
You need to setup these devices using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, keyboard and trackpad in System Preferences.
    1. Open System Preferences either in the Dock or from the Applications folder in Finder
    2. Select Bluetooth and ensure that it is switched on and discoverable.
    3. Select 'Set Up New Device' and the Bluetooth Setup Assistant will open in a new dialogue window.
    4. Follow the directions to connect to your trackpad.  Repeat to connect to keyboard.
    5. In System Preferences application select Trackpad or Keyboard to select your preferred settings.
You should be able to set the gestures to make full use of the trackpad.  Good luck with your Mac Mini!

  • Apple wireless keyboard, no battery logo always blinking

    Hello,
I just got my battery changed for my apple wireless keyboard. Even if i replace the battery again, the issue start again.
The not battery logo is always blinking every 5 seconds which is terribly disturbing.
What could be the issue about it ?
    Thx for your reply.
    PS : i use windows 7

I don't know about the Wireless Keyboard, but Apple's Magic Trackpad (MT) is amazingly inaccurate in telling the computer how much power is left. I have a mid 2010 iMac (27", 3.6 GHz i5, 10.10.1). About a week ago, my the iMac reported that the MT had a low battery. Usually, I tend to change the battery when this happens. This time, I decided to just keep on going. Well, it's been more than a week now, and the MT is working fine. The battery charge has been gradually dropping (sort of), and now reads 8%. One day it even went to 40%, but then it dropped back to 9. I don't think this has anything to do with Yosemite, since I had been noticing that the battery life on my MT seemed awfully short, lasting less than 2 weeks on Apple's rechargeable batteries. This has been the case from 10.6 through 10.10.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard Wish list.....

    Hello,
I was not sure where to post this...
I just wanted to say that an Apple Bluetooth wireless Keyboard with a built in track pad like the one on the Macbook pros would be an excellent product for the Mini and pro units.... I use the Mini in my media center.
I purchased the Logitech Edge Keyboard. It is a great keyboard with a (not so great) trackpad. I chose it because it was the best wireless/trackpad keyboard for the MAC I could find...
I have a suspecion that such a keyboard would sell quite well....

    Hi,
I'm not sure that this is the correct place to post this.

  • [Bluetooth] Apple wireless keyboard

I've got bluez and bluedevil installed under KDE4.
The daemon is running and I've modprobed btusb, bluetooth, hidp, and l2cap.
Under bluedevil I have successfully paired the trackpad, so I know that bluetooth is working.
The keyboard however only shows up for a few seconds when I press the power switch on the keyboard and then disappears. It never works.
However, when I go terminal and type:
    hidd --connect 00:00:00:00:00:00
(where 00:00:00:00:00:00 the keyboard's btaddr is), it connects and works immediately.
I've found a bunch of workarounds online to connect Apple wireless keyboards, but they seem to have been written for quite old versions of the bluetooth software.
Does anyone have a clue, how I could make it connect properly through bluedevil?
    Thanks

yup... same prob i had when i got the keyboard but i knew i didn't have it so i got a usb adapter... i would try this one -- D-Link DBT-120-- i tried another from Best Buy and it freaked the G5 out?!!? i wound up losing other usb peripherals because i think it was drawing too much power?!?! not sure but when i unplugged it, everything else started working again?!!?
i went back to the original wired one! you can always search for the actual bluetooth combo card but they run about $250... but it is an internal hardware upgrade, so no usb port stolen by an adapter?!?!
