Apple Wont replace In Warrenty iPod

i broke my old ipod so i got a new one through home insurance and all thye gave me was a invoice saying 30gb white ipod and its broke now still in warrenty by like 20 days and apple are dragging this out and are been very repetative saying its not enough proof to prove that mine is the ipod matching that invoice and ive rang them 4 times, emailed thier change the date of purchase email and gone in the shop 3 times and theyve been consistantly unhelpful and clearly are waiting till its out of warrenty so they don't have to give away one lousey ipod
i can no longer trust apple to be helpful

Put the iPod serial number in the box at the bottom of this page -> http://www.apple.com/support/
to see when the warranty is up.
If it's still in warranty, fill out a service request here -> http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/

  • Apple wont replace my macbook?

    Hi all,
I've had an MBP for just over 1 month now, and for almost the whole time, the machine has been used at my office. Lately I have been using it at home, and as you might have guessed, in a quieter environment i CAN hear very noticable buzzing, high-pitched noises. Also, there's a noticable screen flicker which happening more often now, AND the silver paint just below the speakers is wearing away.
Basically, i'm not happy with the quality of this machine and would like to exchange it at my local store. however since it's over 14 days since i bought it, they wont allow me to.
does anyone know if it's too late to send it back and just get a refund? i'd much prefer a replacement, but this is my primary home/office machine (i sold my sony just after receiving this - regretful), and can't afford to be without a computer for the time it is likely to take if i sent it away for repair.
does anyone have an idea how i can try to get an immediate exchange?
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Well, I had my MBP sent out for repair they changed the logic board and the thermal unit also the keyboard. And it also came back with some scratches and also on the left side at the seam where your arm/wrist rest is loose so it squeeks..plus is was dirty.
Called Apple Care got someone who said they couldn't replace it because it was past 14 days, so I didn't like that answer and then they gave me to a product specialist. He said the they needed a resonable number of attempts to fix it. I ask him what a resonable number was? He couldn't answer. So each time you send it back your without your computer for 10 days. I said just send me a new one. He said he couldn't but if after some undetermined number of returns then he could. So I said just give me a refund. And that he could do. So I'm returning my MBP and going to wait for the second generation of MBPs that don't run so dam hot. Unfortunatley you have to get a little extra firm to have them do anything.
Oh yeah, he also said if he sent out a new one that it could have the heat problem to. And that the Engineers are working on it but DO NOT have A SOLUTION YET.
It's a bumer cause I like the computer. They should make it big enought not to have a heat issue and also to fit a dual layer burner for $3K. I don't need the thinnest computer just one that works comfortably on the desk in the lap etc. without excess heat issue, airport issues, and high pitched noises.
Apple dropped the ball on getting this to market before the bugs were worked out.
So I will wait, check these disucussion boards from time to time until things are running smoother. Good luck to you and don't cave into these folks trying to tell you the heat is ok or the noise, etc....you paid top $$$ expect the best and don't take any bull**.
    Peace,
    Time for a Margarita.

  • Will the retail Apple Store replace/repair my iPod

Do I have to send in my broken iPod to Apple, or can I simply take it to my local Apple store for repair?
    Thanks

Many people have posted here that they got their iPod exchanged at a store. I think (but don't know) that it would depend on how old the iPod is.
As to whether the replaced iPod would be a new or refurbished one, I would think (again, I don't know) it would be new as the Apple stores don't carry refurbs as far as I know.
The only people who can give a you a definitive answer to your questions of course are the folks at the Apple store.

  • Has anyone had problems with Domayne using generic third party RAM for memory upgrades? My RAM is now faulty and had to be removed, but Apple wont replace it under Apple Care because its not a genuine component?

The computer was purchased in the knowledge that all components and hardware were genuine and subsequently covered by the Apple Care warranty.
Domayne replaced the genuine components (8GB stick) with generic components (2x 16GB sticks) to save money and boost margin.
Apple should not allow this misleading, profiteering behaivour. This behaviour is brand damaging. Apple must maintain more control over their supply chain.
Has anyone had any expirenece with this problem?
Has anyone made Domayne or other third party resellers acountable for this misleading behaviour?
    Thank you.

Stick with Brand name RAM and reputable distributors.  Mac is finicky about low quality RAM
    Try OWC http://www.macsales.com/
    Crucial http://www.crucial.com/
Most RAM comes with Lifetime guarenntee so return it where you got it.

  • Apple wont replace my iPhone (dead pixel)

i just got off the phone with iPhone support and they said they wouldn't replace my phone... I have a dead pixel and the guy said it had to be more then one pixel to "be a problem"
So my one dead pixel that i notice every time i look at my phone isn't a problem? whats up with that?
I love apple to death but come on... i spent $600 on this phone and your not gonna help me out?

It's a tough thing to hear but any company that manufactures an LCD anything will usually tell you that dead pixels are just a part of the hardware and you typically need several for it to be considered defective. This is what you'll get from any MP3 or monitor manufacturer.

  • Apple wont replace MacBook battery

    Hi
I have a Macbook core duo. I bought it in November 2006, so it is about 18 months old. I have the extended AppleCare warranty on it.
Using coconut battery, my MacBook's battery has 188 charge cycles with 1823mah capacity left, or 32% capacity.
I was just at an Apple store where the genius said that this is normal and it is not defective as there is no "x" in the battery bar. So, Apple will not replace it.
I have an iBook from 2003 with 348 load cycles that still has 72% capacity, so I think that the macbook battery is defective, as it only lasts for 45 minutes now.
Should Apple replace the battery? How can I prove to the genius that it should be replaced?
    Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
    First, try resetting the SMC:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
If you call in, they will have you try resetting the SMC first (at least, they had me do that).
See if that improves the battery's performance. That did double my battery time from 46 minutes to an hour and 27 minutes. However, my battery only had about 160 cycles on it, and an hour and 27 minutes seemed too little to me, so I called back. They shipped me a new battery.
    Good luck.

  • Apple Offices Messed Up My Ipod!! Please Help

    please can someone help me.
I recenly took my ipod in for repair at my nearest apple offices. I was told that they cannt do anything with it as it has a large dent in the back of it and apple wont replace it due to the warrenty. But when i took it into them it was in perfect physical condition (except ofcourse the reason i took it there in the first place, which was the 'sad ipod' icon situation). Please can anyone help me as to how i can repair or replace my ipod.
    All replies greatly appreciated.
    Kayleigh xxx

    Kayleigh,
Bring it back your iPod to the shop and ask them to do the followin for you in order to fix the Sad iPon icon - hope that they will do it as they did a large dent in the back of your iPod.
During the past month, I discovered a way to fix te Sad iPod icon situation, unless the HD of the iPod is damaged, but your need a Mac to fix the PC formatted iPod and vince verse. A sad Icon iPod would not get mount from the orginal computer, but interesting it is likely to get mount by connecting with a different kind of compueter i.e. Mac-Pc or Pc-Mac. I understand a lot of people do not believe of what I said. But ask the Apple's guy to do for you, as you do not have a Mac to fix it - it is really the case that I managed to fix some iPods in this way, following are the steps
For iPod formatted with PC - and to be fixed with a Mac
Put the iPod in Disk Mode then plug it with a Mac computer. It would got mount (few attempts please), the iPod will pop up on the Mac's desktop as a HD, go to Utility and open the Disk Utility, (you will able to see your iPod there), click your iPod, go to Tab of ERASE. choose the volume format of MS-DOS file system then click the button ERASE. Once it has being completed, reject your iPod and plug it with a Window PC, a window will pop up and indicate that it can't read your iPod and open the iPod Updater file, and do the RESTORE back in PC version

  • Replaced my broken ipod, but it wont work with my itunes?

My old ipod wasn't working so I got apple to replaced it. But when I tried to put my library from my itunes on my new ipod it tells me that I have to install the software first. So my ipod is not being read by my itunes. How can I fix this? (Oh I forgot to mention, its a mini ipod, if that makes any difference)

This issue is usually solved by doing exactly what iTUnes tells you: Install the software.
First, launch the "iPod Updater", then plug the iPod. From then on, the Updater should guide you through the process.
You should already have a version of the Updater on your Computer. Otherwise get v1.1 here.

can apple replace a broken ipod touch?

A broken screen is not covered by the warranty.  However, some users have had an iPod with a broken screen replaced at no cost by the Apple Genius.  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out.

  • Will Apple still replace the screen on my iPod Touch 4th gen.?

I dropped my iPod and completely cracked the whole front of my iPod. I got it a Target a month ago and I lost my receipt. Will Apple still replace it?

@lllaass I just cracked the screen on my Ipod touch 8gb 4th gen which i just bought wednesday from Target. However, I have one of those military grade portective films over it. Was that supposed to protect it? Not sure, but I also have another issue. I live an hour away from the nearest apple store and I don't want to make an appointment at the Genius bar and still have to pay. Should I just take my chances and schedule one? Or are there other places that might be able to replace it for cheaper?

  • Will my nearest Apple store replace my iPod 3rd Gen battery and if so roughly how much will it cost?

Really as the subject says. I don't really want to spend my time travelling to the nearest shop (as I will end up drooling and possibly broke when I come out) but want to know if I did go how much would it cost

See the iPod Owners section in this Apple support document for pricing and other information regarding a battery replacement for your iPod.
