Apple works shutting down

every time i open apple works it shuts down. i can get it to open but when i try to open a folder/file it shuts down. what could be causing this?
i am using snow leopard. apple works 6 imac ver 10.6.8

Did you run Software Update a couple of days ago & apply the security update? If so, run Software Update again. Apple has released a new version of the security update that fixes the problems the first one caused.

Where did you get this "dmg file"? To install the newest version of any Apple software, including iTunes, all you have to do is use Software Update from the Apple menu. This doesn't download any dmg, it automatically installs the software for you.
Maybe try repairing your permissions from Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder).
Also - What version of OS X do you have? Please update your forum profile so we can help you better.

What do you mean 'shut down' ? If you mean that it's disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iOS device by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
If you've also forgotten your security answers then read the HT5312 page that you posted from, it has instructions for how to reset them.

Whenever I'm in Illustrator CC 2014, when I save, the whole Apple computer shuts down and reboots. My Illustrator files aren't recovered but my Photoshop files are. It doesn't happen everytime I save, but often enough to be frustrating. I couldn't find any articles or support on line, so I am in need of your help on this issue.

There was no crash report in my library. I will get the report next time it happens.

So my parents Mac Mini is having issues, and it's out of warranty, and Apple Care already gave me my one free get out of jail card. When trying to open a page that has flash, Safari shuts down and says there's something wrong with the plug in. I take out flash, Safari works fine, as instructed by Apple Care, but then I can't get any flash based content. I install flash player again, and it results in the same thing.

Is there some particular website where the flash is a problem, or do you encounter this problem on all flash-based websites, for example, youtube.com ?

When i´m watching a movie, listening music or any other thing, the apple tv shuts down automatically.

I would like to know if anyone have issues with their apple tv2 when it´s working and suddenly shuts down.
This happens to me repeatedly and don´t know how to solve it.

Actually, that's not good enough. What's the point of having a separate audio output if the hdmi is always required?
It's a shame that the AppleTV doesn't do just audio playback, as it seems like a feature that should be present considering that it provides a discrete audio output.
Airport Express is not an option, as I want to have digital audio output and be able to process it with my DAC.
I don't have an A/V receiver, just a stereo integrated amplifier, so I can't connect the HDMI to a receiver like others who had a similar issue. I'll try to "fool" the Apple TV with an HDMI switcher and see if that solves the problem. In the meantime, I found out that my TV (sony) has an option to turn off the backlight, which does the trick, although it's a little annoying to surf the TV menu for that option every time I just want to play some music.
I'm really disappointed by this, and I'm looking forward to a firmware update that fixes this issue (hopefully there will be one)

TS3274 apple pages shutting down

A document made by me in Apple Pages (installed on my IPAD 2) is not able to open at anymore. Previously it shutted down now and then but now I cannot open it at all. It contains 20-30 pictures and some text.
What is wrong and how can I resque my letter?

Quit Pages like this,
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
Then reboot the iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

My Quicksilver G4 boots up and after a few minutes working shuts down

I checked out if in sleep or shut down pref's something was changed?

Apple Mail shuts down

Hi, Like others here I'm having trouble with Mail shutting down. Sometimes it shuts down without leaving a dialogue box behind, sometimes it posts the Mail unexpectedly quit message. Sometimes I'm using the program at the time, sometimes I'm away from my desk.
This problem began happening right after I downloaded the 10.4.8 update. In fact,I was loath to do the update because the same thing happened the last time I updated, and I ended up trashing the update and stepping back to the previous system. But I was having trouble with iTunes crashing, so I went ahead. I could trash the prefs file I suppose, but don't want to have start all over configuring. Anyway, here's what the crash log said.

Mail is crashing because of a problem with an Address Book smart group. It’s not uncommon for Mail to crash when evaluating a rule that involves an AB smart group, but in your case Mail doesn’t appear to be evaluating any rule when it crashes. Under which circumstances does it crash?
Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of the problem already being there, or not having installed the update properly, or ignoring Apple’s "Important: Please read before installing" warnings, etc., rather than being caused by the update itself. In order to ensure that the update is installed properly, proceed as follows.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update that appears to not have been installed properly using the combo installer for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using:

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

Apple Air shuts down when playing iTunes after 15 minutes

When I am playing itunes, my computer shuts down after 15 minutes. I have changed all the settings to one hour or more in Security and Privacy, Energy Saver and Desktop and Screen Saver in System Preferences. It is driving me nuts!
Any suggestions?

Add-in in Office 2010, doesn't work, shuts down Word/Excel

I have Acrobat Pro 9, Office 2010 Enterprise, Windows 7 64bit
I just got my computer back with the upgrades. When I try to use the acrobat in the tab/add-in in Word or Excel, it won't do anything, on all but one choice that when I click preferences, it shuts down the Word or Excel and I get this:
"Word experienced a serious problem with the acrobat pdfmaker office com addin' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, ( I have), you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?"
I saw another person asked last year but didn't find a solution. Any suggestions now?
It is very frustrating! I use Acrobat often at work and at home. I've disabled the add-in.

Acrobat 9 does not support Office 2010.
If you have Office 2010 32-bit, then Acrobat X Pro will work fine. Currently there is no Acrobat support for Office 2010 64-bit.

Apple Works slowing down

Hi everyone. I had downloaded a pile (about 80-140) free fonts, and now Apple Works is slow. Very slow. I've tried deleting certan fonts that I was having trouble with, Deleting Apple Works Prefrences, Deleing shortcuts in the recent documents folder, and nothing works. It seems to act sluggish when it says "Building font menu". It takes 40-56 seconds to start up. Also, I have another question. When I look under the "Web" tab in the Starting points window, It wants to open the disk images in the Database, not actually open the images in Stuffit. Does any one have any suggestions?

You should look into getting Suitcase X, or FontReserve. These are Font Organizing software. You don't have to install the fonts into the system folder. Just as long as it is saved on your HD drive. You can choose to turn on and off fonts as you need them. There's a temp option wherein the font will be accessible until you restart computer.
Over 75 fonts in the system folder will definately slow your system down. Software like the ones mentioned above organizes fonts independently from the OS. The software will take a little bit of time to initialize. But once it's up and running you don't have to worry about it anymore. Remove the fonts you installed from the System Font folder, and save them as regular files in another place (outside the System folder). You can drag and drop whole font folders into (let's say) Suitcase X. You can chose whether to activate them right there and then, or do it later after you've set up all your fonts in Suitcase X.

I bought an ipad mini from John Lewis in February. On Saturday the ipad suddenly stopped working. I tried charging it but all it done was go to the start up apple page (black screen with white apple) then shut down and constantly repeat this process.

I took it back to John Lewis today to get fixed as its still under warranty. Because there was scratches on the back of it.... Which is hard to avoid with the slate back!!! I got told apple will probably not fix it as it looks as if I've done it! I couldn't believe it!! If I honestly dropped it that bad to have caused a technical fault inside I would of smashed the screen as the same time!! Absolutely ridiculous as I know it isn't through any fault of my own.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
