AppleCare cover question?

I bought my brothers 15-inch MacBook Pro (mid 2009). The warranty is about to expire in August so i'm thinking of getting AppleCare, except there might be a small issue. On the left side of the screen border there is a small dent which is hardly noticeable. The dent can be seen, if you look for it in that specific area. I took some pictures and please let me know if Its worth getting AppleCare or not, since Apple doesn't cover accidental damages. Here is the link.

If you think there's a chance you'll be keeping that system for another year or two, I'd say absolutely. If you're considering getting a new system within a year, I'd say take your chances.

  • Will AppleCare cover my problem?

I have a smudge similar to the one in the thread below.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3900377?start=0&tstart=0
I also hear a cracking or clicking noise when adjusting the angle of my screen display, a problem I believe to be related to the unibody.
My question is, when I set up an appointment to get this fixed, will AppleCare cover the costs? Also, will I have to have my computer backed up, because I do not have an external hard drive at this point. I'm sure it will take a week or so to fix these issues, but my main concerns are the issue of AppleCare covering these problems and the need to back up my computer before sending it in. Please let me know what steps should be taken beforehand in adressing these issues. Thanks in advance!

Yes, assuming they are defects in workmanship or components and not caused by user negligence.
You should make a bootable clone of your hard drive before taking it in for repair. Buy an external hard drive.
Clone Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
You will be given an estimate of repairs before they are done, so you will find out what is covered under your warranty.
I would remove any sensitive information from your hard drive before taking the computer in for service.

What Apple product? Almost all of them have screens!
One could infer that since this is the iPhone forum that the device in question is an iPhone.

  • Does AppleCare cover my dimming iBook LCD screen?

    Hi - Simple question.
Does AppleCare cover my dimming iBook LCD screen? I've had the iBook less than two years, and the screen seems about 50% (maybe a little more) as bright as it was when I bought it.
Note, I also had to have the logic board replaced immediately after purchase, since it blew due to a heat issue. I understand the video module is on the logic board, too. I don't use it more than 1-5 hours, maybe two or three days a week, at a time (I have two other desktop Macs). The real, real problem is, it's my music workstation! Hard to edit notes in Logic Express when-I-can't-see-what-I'm-doing!
Any thoughts or answers? It's getting to be a real bummer not being able to use the iBook as a portable laptop in any brightly lit area.
Really, now. Sorry, I can't make the 10AM meeting, it's too bright in the meeting room with those overhead skylights... unless it's cloudy or raining...
    ~Robb

It certainly should! My iBook screen is as bright as ever--I got it in March of 2004 and none of the updates had any effect on the brightness. So your iBook screen should not be getting dim from normal wear and tear--there is something definitely wrong. If it's not due to a preference setting or something like that, be sure and take it in for diagnosis and repair before your warranty runs out.
    Good luck!

  • Does Applecare cover Macbook adapter accidents??

The part of my Macbook adapter that plugs into the computer fell into a cup of water (fail, I know). As a result, the adapter tip is fried I need a new one and before I start searching for cheaper ones on Amazon or eBay, I need to know: Does Applecare cover Macbook adapter accidents?? I've had my Macbook for less than three years and so I should still be covered.
Applecare says it covers adapters, but I'm not sure about accidents. Should I go to the Genius bar and say it's an accident? I can't lie about the way the tip of the adapter is certainly fried. This is a different kind of accident. Someone, please help.

Does Applecare cover Macbook adapter accidents?
AppleCare doesn't cover accidental damage. Homeowner's insurance, a credit card, or third-party insurance might.

AppleCare+ covers it with a deductible if you purchased it with your phone. Standard AppleCare does not.

  • Does applecare cover a replacement battery

Does applecare cover replacing the battery?  My iPhone 5 battery goes dead very quickly now and I am sure it needs replaced.

If your phone is still in warranty then a battery replacement is covered.
Even if it's out of warranty it may still be eligible for a free replacement through Apple's recent program:

  • Does applecare  cover water damage for iphone 4s?

does applecare+  cover water damage for iphone 4s?

Yes it seems so as the description says for up to 2 "incidents." Each incident is $49. More info here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/S4575?mco=MjU5MTk4MjQ
Im still sorta thinking about it myself. You'd be basically spending $150 for incident #1 and $50 for incident #2, but during the next 2 years only.

Does applecare cover the earpods? If so, how do i complete a claim?

My understanding is that Applecare does cover the earpods. Simply either take the faulty ones to an Apple Store or, if that it is not convenient, contact Applecare through the Apple website.

  • Does AppleCare cover a broken screen( glass) on iPads?

Does AppleCare cover cracked screens on iPads

The standard 1-year Apple Care warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage due to accidents.
Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)

    iPad mini
    $219
    iPad 3rd, 4th generation

    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad
