Applecare iPhone Replacement Wrong Carrier Prevents Activation

Does anyone know how to make a locked iPhone 4S change the "carrier" to Sprint (from Verizon)?
Sprint regonizes the MEID and will activate the phone, I just need the phone to communicate with Sprint, not Verizon.
Details
I have a Sprint iPhone 4S. I cracked my screen so I requested a replacement through my AppleCare+ plan.
They sent it out right away. I went to sprint.com and registered the MEID to my line, restarted the phone to activate, and......failure.
Tried restoring, updating, restarting, erase all content and settings, added Sprint sim card ....... failure.
Tried calling Sprint to help me........ failure.
Then I looked a little closer at Genereral/About/Carrier. It is setup for Verizon.
Called AppleCare, my ace in the hole I thought, WRONG. I explained everything and they advised me the hardware is the same Verizon or Sprint and that it their system and they will update it in 24 hours or less. Did not happen!!!
THIS MAKES NO SENSE!
If I buy any USA Sprint iPhone, I can make it work in 5 minutes. I tell sprint what the ID of the phone is, they talk to each other, and I have service.
But AppleCare says that it is ok that the phone is looking for Verizon instead of Sprint, it is their system that needs to be updated, not the phone.
Now 24 hours is up and still nothing. They won't send a phone that will work with Sprint, they will not help at all. This is not the Apple service I fell in love with, this is a nightmare.
I am on my own now, this is what Apple has become. Maybe someone out there can help me.

Call back Applecare - they need to step in and fix.   If the person you get on the first go around is unable or unwilling, you need to call Corporate.   They are much better at resolving difficult issues.

I updated my phone yesterday now my carrier says verizon I have net 10 service net 10 says they can't help me I need apple to support the phone. What should I do how can I get the net 10 settings back?

Where did you get the phone?
Verizon is a CDMA carrier. It's not possible for a phone that was not intended for Verizon to get on the Verizon network at all. It's also not possible to use a Verizon iPhone 4S on any US carrier other than Verizon.

  • RE: iPhone 5 is showing wrong carrier name

My iPhone 5 is showing wrong carrier name (near signal bars and also in the settings) even after turning off multiple times and even after changing carrier settings from automatic to manual and Vice Versa. My device is on iOS 7.0.4. I've tried replacing the simcard but still it is showing wrong carrier name. My service provider told me that I'm using the correct signals. I've purchased this device whilst I was in the UK with Vodafone as the carrier but the device has been unlocked to network. I've now moved to India and I'm using AIRTEL but the carrier name is displayed as VODAFONE IN.

I've moved from Hyderabad to Bangalore and my phone started to show the correct carrier name, as soon as I entered to Karnataka cirlce from A.P. circle(I was on roaming). I think it's Airtel that relays the name as such in Hyd(A.P.) and it's nothing to do with the device. So, my problem is solved.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to fix the iphone 4s if it is the wrong carrier iphone 4s?

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and how to fix it.   Lets see in October 2012 I bought a brand new Iphone 4s.   I had it less than a week when I sent it to Apple because it had already been updated to IOS 6 without my knowledge and the battery was dying and some other issues was going on with the phone. My carrier Sprint that I purchased it from has a 2 year contract.   What Apple sent me back for my brand new Iphone 4s  was a used refurbished Iphone 4s with Verizon carrier.  I spent hours on the phone with Apple and Sprint.  Sprint told me to tell Apple that I needed a Sprint Iphone.  Well I tried but they said they could make it work as long as I didn't try to install a sim card because then the phone would not work at all. Well besides everything on my phone refering to Verizon or At&t but never my carrier Sprint I suppose it could have been worse.  I actually have never seen the OS 5.11 all I have ever seen is OS 6.  Even the refurbished Verizon phone I was sent was already updated  to I0S 6  so I couldn't change it.  My husbands iphone 4s from Sprint never updated on its on, his is still IOS 5. Anyway, my battery dies quite frequently and now my refurbished Verizon/Sprint iphone has updated to IOS 6.02 which is even worse.   When ever I log into a online account I am always showing up as that I am logging in from another state like Georgia with Sprint carrier but I don't live in Georgia.   Pretty much anytime I Iog into any online account I am never on a Sprint Network in my state .   Always the wrong state. Try to do a soft reset which doesn't help because the factory defaults for the phone is Verizon and lets not forget it won't work with a sprint sim card at all.  I also try to atleast restore it to I0S 6 on itunes but it keeps stating restore and update. So now I am stuck with IOS 6.02.    I think it would be great if I could use I0S 5  like my husband has on his Iphone 4s.  Any suggestions on how to fix my screwed up iphone 4s.   I would go to an apple store but the closest one is over an hour a way. So thats out for now.  So how do I use my iphone 4s with carrier Sprint on their  celluar network in my state and possibly  the city I live in, also which is all  in the UnitedStates?
                                                                                                                                  Thanks,  Suzanne

  • IPhone unlocked by carrier, will Apple replace with an unlocked phone in the event of a warranty replacement?

    Hi there.
I use an iPhone with the Canadian provider, Fido.  I purchased the phone from Fido and signed up for a 3 year contract in order to recieve the phone at the reduced price.  I understand that Fido performs a carrier lock on the phone when you sign up in this way so that the phone can only be used on the Fido network.
At the moment I am in the process of cancelling my contract with Fido and switching over to another provider in Canada.  After doing some research, I found out that Fido offers a service where they will unlock your phone from their network when you finish your contract, for a fee.  Since I am cancelling my contract and paying the early cancellation penalty, my contract will be satisfied and I will be eligible for the unlock service.   My plan is to have my iPhone unlocked by Fido so that I can use the phone with my new provider.
My question is this: If I have my phone legitimately unlocked by my provider, will Apple send me an unlocked phone in the event that their is a hardware failure covered under warranty, and I need a replacement iPhone?  All my previous replacement iPhones have been, to my knowledge, locked by Apple back onto my provider before they are sent to me.  But, it would be awfully annoying if a replacement phone came to me locked onto an old network that I no longer use.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Are you sure about this? I thought so too, but when I received my replacement iPhone 6, it was locked again.
I bought a carrier locked iPhone. Then it was replaced with another carrier iPhone. This second phone (first replacement) was then unlocked. Later the unlocked iPhone was replaced with a third phone (second replacement). To my disappointment the second iPhone replacement is locked.
The Authorized Service center said that Apple made a mistake and should unlock it remotely ASAP. Apple Support however, says that iPhones are replaced with specifications of the originally initially purchased iPhone. If the original was unlocked, they would replace it with unlocked, but if it was locked then replaced with a locked and then unlocked by carrier. The carrier should be contacted again to unlock future replacements. I know it sounds ridiculous and illogical.
If an iPhone has been unlocked (obviously by a carrier), why would you replace it with a locked iPhone and ask the customer to contact his carrier and request another unlock for the replacement iPhone? So inefficient and could be a problem if the carrier allows only one unlock per year per line like most do, or if you are no longer a customer of that carrier.
Interestingly I found the following on Apple's "Hardware Warranty". Retrieved from: https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-document-us.html):
"Following warranty service your Apple Product or a replacement device will be returned to you as your Apple Product was configured when originally purchased, subject to applicable updates.”
What I understand from this is that replacements will be configured exactly as the originally purchased including any updates made to it. I believe unlock is considered an update.
Apple Support argues that the second device was unlocked (updated), but the original (initial / first) device was not unlocked. Therefore, I should deal with my old carrier to unlock this one.
    How insanely ridiculous is that???

  • AppleCare is replacing my iPhone 5

Long story short, AppleCare is replacing my iPhone 5 with a brand new iPhone 5s. Can I take it to an Apple Store and exchange it for an iPhone 6 and pay the difference?

As Apple does not do trade-ins, the chances are slim. Some Apple stores allow you to turn in a phone and they will give you a coupon/voucher towards a purchase of any Apple Store item. I don't think the voucher comes close to the value one could get for reselling the phone and then using the proceeds from the sale towards the price of a new iPhone 6.

  • How can I stop someone from receiving iMessages on their old disconnected iPhone, w'hich is still active in iMessage, when the number now belongs to someone else with a non apple device!?!

To further clarify my dilemma ....
A friend of mine just got a new phone number on her LG cell phone.
When I try to text her, my messages are going to someone else's iPhone.
The iPhone has been deactivated off the VZ cell network, but they are still using it on WIFI.
They used to have this number on their iPhone, and it's still active in iMessage.
So, when I try to send a text message to my friend on her LG, from my iPhone,
they instead go to this total stranger, cuz they still have that number active in their iMessage account.
    This is a serious issue!!
The only suggestion I get from apple support is to have my friend get a new number, or for me to turn off iMessage when I want to text her.
    Not really the optimum solution.
Something really should be done to prevent this from happening!
Strangers are effectively intercepting text messages!
    Help!?!

Tell her to contact her carrier and get a new phone number.

  • IPhone replacement/upgrade? Help?

Hello, I'm not going to try to articulate this with excessive grace, as I've spent a LOT of time with customer service. Like a lot.
Ok so basically I got my iPhone 4s in November of 2012. I got my iPhone replaced in September of 2013 for speaker problems, but I have had no troubles since; until as of late. With my first paycheck (April first) , I immediately went out an bought the new  Apple Headphones. Long story short, turned out my headphone jack was broken. There is absolutely no sound, though the headphones are detected. I headed to the apple store on Sunday the 6th, where, honestly,  I expected to have my iPhone replaced. I assumed, since the phone was just about six months old, it would be under warranty. The first man I spoke to, after hearing about my issue and reviewing my case, immediately said that apple was at fault for this issue, and that they would replace my phone for me. The real genius didn't agree. After testing my phone, restoring and restarting it, he concluded that it was "very odd".  He then assessed that my phone had absolutely no damage whatsoever, so he didn't know how the jack would have broken (a flaw in the product itself). He then brought to my attention that after replacing your phone, you have only ninety days warranty. Which, awesome. Well, we shortly discussed my options; paying $199 for a replacement iPhone 4s or putting the full value of my 4s ($199) towards a 5s. I quickly decided that there was no way that I would be paying for another 4s after my repeated speaker issues. So I still have my old phone for now. Then today, my iPhone started going REALLY wacky. Whenever I play music, it plays a different song than it says it playing, when I skip a few songs flash on the screen, same with when I go back. I can't really describe the exact actions cos it's so glitchy. But basically I finally got a hold of the customer service phone line and they said they they couldn't override the Genius' diagnostic of expired warranty, but do you think there is any way I can get an upgrade/replacement for cheaper? My phone's pretty new,and I treat it so well, I don't know why this happened, and I feel it's really unfair that I should have to pay full price to replace a flawed product.

Question:  Did you purchase AppleCare with your phone?  If so, your phone should be covered until November 2014 (based on info you provided).
If you didn't, the Limited warranty on your phone ended after 1 year.  November 2013 (based on the info you provided).
I'm not sure I understand the problem?  If you have exceeded the warranty, there is the Out of warranty replacement option.  Or, you could use an upgrade with your carrier if you are eligible.

  • Do you have to make an appointment to have your iphone replaced?

For those who have gotten there iphone replaced at the apple store...
I'm in sort of a rush to replace my broken iphone. So I was wondering is it mandatory to schedule an appointment with the genius bar or could i just walk in and tell them my problem and have it replaced. Reason being is I plan on taking a bus all the way to the another city tomorrow just to get it fixed. But it would be pointless if they tell me I had to schedule one before they take a look at it once I get there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there is an Apple store nearby, it is best to make an appointment. Having to take a bus to another city doesn't sound like there is an Apple store nearby.
Or you can call AppleCare at (800) 694-7466 and handle everything over the phone. If it is determined that your iPhone needs to be exchanged under warranty, AppleCare will ship the exchange to your door. You must provide a credit card number in case your existing iPhone is not returned. You use the same box that is used to ship the exchange to return your existing iPhone. The return shipping label is located below the shipping label to you along with a phone number for the carrier to call when the box is ready to be picked up. A small paperclip is included to remove the SIM card from your existing iPhone, and tape to reseal the box.

    Hey aries35,
I found the following that goes over troubleshooting the same issue for the iPhone. I know you have an iPad, but the steps should still apply:
    Perform the following steps:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • HT201407 Per the "Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock" instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate.

Received an authorized unlock code from apple/AT&T for my off-contract 3GS (8GB). Per the “Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock” instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate saying “Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable”. I tried this again and again for countless times, no way! I have my old AT&T simcard and other carrier’s simcard. Both will not help. Please help me to activate and start using my phone.

    Hello,
I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.
    Thanks!

  • What should I do about all these iPhone replacements?

    Hello All,
I am currently on my 3rd iPhone replacement. The first one had a crack between the chrome and the headphone jack, the second one has an incorrectly installed bezel and is causing both a light leak, and a sharp edge (The plastic also cracked in the same place as the first phone).
I really need to know what you guys think I should do at this point. I have never in my life had to replace an electronic device so many times and quite frankly it's getting to the point where the time needed to deal with this is becoming beyond ridiculous.
What do I do if the phone coming on Tuesday has a problem, do I just keep calling Rogers and getting them to send me new phones until one actually works even though it takes me almost two hours worth of my time to deal with, and ship the phones back.
I really, honestly want my money back despite how much fun I have had with my phone, but due to the contract and such it simply isn't an option.
Should I take the next phone they give me and if there is a problem (one that I can look past for now), should I call Rogers, explain the problem but refuse a new phone for 6 - 9 months in the hopes Apple will deal with all the quality issues?
Should I go higher (straight to Apple head office) and deal with it at that level?
Basically, I would like to hear your ideas as to what would be the best solution at this point. I don't want to spend every week on the phone getting a new iPhone sent to me, but more importantly I'm concerned that it will break after the year of warranty leaving me to pay out of pocket or go without a phone.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi,
My phone was stolen 3 weeks back and I too had the same issue. Find my iphone was turned off, i don't know how.. I put the phone in lost mode and then erase mode. I brought a new iphone 4s and after 2 weeks, suddenly all of my contacts got disappeared from my iCloud, Mac Contacts, iPhone without any reason. I tried to do a restore iPhone and the contacts came back but disappeared in fraction of second. Used Backup from old data and the same had happened.
Out of no reason I checked with photos and suddenly, I could get the photo of the guy who stole my iphone. I immediately synced that pic to iPhotos. that displayed all info(date, time, camera used, flash on) except the location services.
I logged into iCloud.com to see if the phone got erase. But it still showed erase mode activated. Phone will erase the data once it is connected to internet. But without connection to internet, that guys pics would not have come. I guess there is something about Activation lock to be still active and deactivate which does not work properly.
Any one also had the same issue, please assist.

  • Almost all songs are still on iPhone though iTunes match is active

    Hello Togehther,
since some months I have iTunes Match active, and in principle it works fine. But I'm wondering, why it works as it does, at least for me:
on my iPad the entire music library was replaced with iTunes Match active (I think, this is, how it is supposed to work)
on my iPhone though, almost all titles are still sitting in the memory of the phone (12.4GB), and only few are just in the cloud. Even more strange: all titles are shown twice, once the "physical" one on the iPhone, and next to it again with the cloud symbol.
Any explanation for this strange behavior?
    Thanks for your help.
    Gerhard

I agree iTunes is counterintuitive and confusing.  Poorly designed - it seems to be getting less user-friendly with each iteration.  It feels more like a Windows program each time there is a significant new version.
With respect to this particular problem, I had (or thought I had) the same issue. I wanted to put songs on the iPhone but couldn't, even after turning off iTunes match on the computer.  For me, the problem turned out to be that iTunes match was off in iTunes on the computer, but was still switched on on my iPhone.  On the iPhone, I went to Settings>iTunes and App Store>iTunes Match and switched it off.

  • IPhone replacement unit (Black Box unit)

I just bought an iPhone 4s, when i activated the handsfreespeaker(loud speaker) was not working,it was not even 24 hours since i bought, i went to the store they also confirmed it arrived with broken speaker, they gave me an option to replace my iPhone with Replacement iPhone which particularly comes for replacement purposes, but i'am curious the replacement iPhone come's in a black box unlike the newly bought one. Idon't believe that replacement iPhone's are newly made they might be refurbished. It was arrived broken to the store i didn't even use the phone properly, so do i have any option to get a new fresh iphone 4s rather than the black boxe'd iPhone (replacement unit) because it's not my fault at all. What are the alternatives which i have in this case, i really don't want go for black box iPhone 4s. ARE THE BLACK BOX IPHONE 4S GENUINE?

There is 30 days return period in US for every iPhone, just return it and get another one. You running a bit of a risk that will be someone else's return, but heck that is what you want. I think sentiment like yours is the reason, that Apple does not sell refurbished phones (everything but ...). Me personally had luck with refurbs (so far), didn't have much luck with new stuff last couple of years. By the way warranty is the same. I hope mr solution answered your question.
