AppleID password reset without consent

Just concerned that my AppleID password was reset without my consent- I was asleep at the time! Tried updating apps on my iPhone today to be confronted with the login screen. Tried logging in...no joy. Hopped on my PC to find an email stating my password had been reset the previous evening. The support page has no "seek account help here" so the community is the last resort. Obviously there's a failing somewhere...

Sadly, this link doesn't work to get me to the reporting page. Once I click on the link for my country (UK), the bowser (chrome) is trying to load something but the ball just spins forever. I just tried it in Safari and the same respone. It's trying to load the page: https://getsupport.apple.com/Issues.do

  • IPhone Password Reset without Original Computer

    It seems that I have an iPhone that had the password changed and then forgot so ended up locking the phone.  Once locked I was advised to go to the Apple store where they said to connect to the original PC, but that machine is no longer available (hard drive crash and wipe).  There is no back-up available, so how can I reset the password to access the phone?  And then sync (or transfer) the iPhone to a new computer?  Any special needs to complete a backup at this time?  Thanks for the help!

    I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if you forgot your passcode and you can't restore your phone using the computer you last synced with, then you will have to force it into recovery mode and restore as a new device
    (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808).  (Being able to simply reset a passcode to allow access to the phone's data would defeat the pupose of having one.)  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

  • How can I change my password reset email address?

    My AppleID password reset link keeps going to an old email address. Is there a way of changing the reset email address?

    Go to your country from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 or use AppleCare country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with the Account Security Team...they can handle that for you.

  • Resetting AppleID password without email

    A friend lost (stolen?) both her iPad and doesn't know her Apple ID password.  The process for resetting the password requires an email loop, which means an email regarding account setup & access can be received by the lost iPad - NOT GOOD!  Once her AppleID account access is restored, she wants to use Find My Phone to find the lost iPad.
    So how to reset AppleID password without exposing confidential info via an email to an AWOL iPad?  Can it all be done on an Apple web site?  She is way too far from an Apple Store to go in for this.

    Apple ID security issues -
    Account security issues almost always require you to speak directly to an

  • How to change AppleID password without access to security questions or rescue email?

    Hi,
    I am curious how a friend managed to change his AppleID password via his iPhone without knowing the answers to the security questions or access to the rescue email. As someone else helped him with the process (not an Apple employee), he hasn't been able to explain it. I still haven't been able to figure how it was done. Wonder if anyone out here could shed some light, thanks!

    Hi there mokcl,
    You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
    If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6170
    If you can't reset your security questions
    Contact Apple Support in either of these circumstances:
    You don't see the link to send a reset email, which means you don't have a rescue address.
    You see the link to send a reset email, but you don't have access to email at the rescue address.
    A temporary support PIN isn't usually required, but Apple may ask you to generate a PIN if your identity needs to be verified.

  • Resetting AppleID password

    I am trying to reset my AppleID password and when clicking on 'send new password via email' iTunes comes back with, that a new password has been sent.
    However, when I am going into my email account, there is no email from iTunes.
    Tried this about 10 times with no luck...
    Anyone with some guidance here on how to reset my account?
    Rgds J

    First, check your rescue email account. If you asked that it come to your regular account, then check in your Spam folder. It can take several hours to get a reply.

  • Reset my AppleID password, but the iTunes Store doesn't recognize it.

    I reset my AppleID password, and it works fine to purchase apps directly from my iPhone. iTunes, however, will not let me log into the iTunes Store using the password; the dialog box to enter your username / password just keeps coming up.
    I've tried quitting and relaunching iTunes, and restarting the computer (MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Intel Core i7, OSX 10.9.3).
    Any ideas how to get iTunes to recognize my AppleID password?

    Hello Brian,
    Based on your post, it seems you cannot connect to the iTunes Store with your Apple ID. I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iTunes Store issues:

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • AppleID Password being mysteriously reset
    Hi all,
    Every once in a while, I get an e-mail notifying me that my password has been changed.  Now, obviously the first suspicion is that my account is compromised, although the 'hacker' has so far downloaded three free apps (so nothing of monetary value).  Here's the thing:  I am the only one using my computer.  I run NoScript on Firefox to prevent clickjacking.  I don't use the same password on other sites.  I have never told it to anyone, and even my closest friends and family would not be able to guess my security answers.  No other computers are authorized through iTunes.  I have run anti-virus and several malware detectors, to no avail.  I'm pretty cautious in my browsing (e.g. Facebook and YouTube, not 1337warez or sketchyporn.com).  It's not a big deal to fix, and so far no harm done, but it is kind of starting to worry me.
    The upshot is that this is either the weirdest glitch ever, or I'm missing something.  I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest something.  Thanks!
    Update:  After reading around a bit more, I figured that the problem was with my e-mail rather than my AppleID.  I haven't changed the password since way back in the dark ages of dial-up, so, even being careful, that's a lot of time in which to make a mistake.  So I changed the password.
    Long story short, I'm now getting 'Here's how to change your AppleID password' messages instead of 'your password was changed'.  Those stopped a couple of days ago, so I think the e-mail password change did the trick.
  • TS4268 iMessage doesn't work anymore suddenly. It claims that my apple id had changed, which isn't the case (App Download still working!) . Then it shows the correct Email-adress and asks for appleID password.
    iMessage doesn't work anymore suddenly. It claims that my apple id had changed, which isn't the case (App Download still working!) . Then it shows the correct Email-adress and asks for appleID password. After entering it switches to a mask witch asks for the eMail adress that should be used. There is the right One already preentered. From there it switches back to the former mask (appleID +password) and nothing happens. If you say Log in again, ist just switches between those masks without showing an error claim nor logging in. Strange thing is ist worked proppperply till a few days ago.......
    Hello there Noregret35,
    I suggest this part of the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/#section_1
    If you get to step 3 I recommend closing ALL the apps.
    Here is step 1 to get you started.
    Restart iPhone
    To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
    Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.
    Regards,
    Sterling
  • Password reset is infuriating
    I'm an Internet software product manager.
    I've designed logins, password reset flows, etc.
    Apple has chosen a combination of "features" in their AppleID reset process that makes me absolutely crazy.
    If I could walk away from iTunes alltogether over this one infuriating detail, I would. But, it all ties back to the hardware - you can't have an aluminum unibody, never-breaks, never-crashes system without succumbing to iTunes, even as a "corporate" user (ie, update Numbers so you can do your accounting, and face ads for this week's 14 yr-old girls' most popular games... but I digress).
    Consider these features:
    If you fail to sign in twice (by getting the password wrong), you are forced to reset the password
    Resetting the password requires you to never use a password you have used before
    As well:
    If your employer bought software for you on your system (the computer they supply you with), they might have used a compay AppleID for that - and maybe they give you the password, so you can get updates.
    If your employer has you set up an AppleID for yourself (using your company email), for things like your iCloud features, you have two accounts to juggle.
    If you have your own software (e.g., Things or OmniFocus) and want to use it at work, you use your personal account - you now have 3 accounts to juggle.
    If you've ever had or started a different AppleID for any reason, you cannot merge them, transfer ownership, etc. (Discussions.Apple has cases like this) - you now have 4 accounts to juggle.
    If you have children (let's say ONE, just to pretend) with their own Apple device (iPad), you've set up their own account for their own stuff... 5 accounts to juggle.
    If you or anyone fails to get the password correct, it gets reset, and it is always different than anything before.
    If you try to reset by recieving an email, there's a 50% chance, in my experience, you never get that email within the first 30 minutes. ("Production grade?")
    Try - try - to manage security questions for these accounts. Share with your boss; your boss shares with you; and what do you share with your kids?
    How, with these feature choices, can you not end up with a white board at work & at home, for people two write passwords on in plane sight, just to be able to do their jobs or rent a movie?
    And for me, simply with my own account, I don't have anywhere to write my AppleID password that I can get to reliably (work, home, on the road) other than my phone, or Evernote, synching to the cloud perpetually.
    So, I've devised a way to write a coded version of my current password in plane sight, and others will (hopefully) not understand what I'm doing.
    I've written my (current) AppleID on the unibody case of my computer.
    Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks -K- for the response. I'll try that but it shouldn't be the cause of my issue. You see, a few weeks ago, I had SQLDeveloper installed on all our team's 32-bit Windows XP SP3 workstations. The reported issue was occurring then as well. Since then, the 64-bit Windows 7 workstations arrived and the saga continues:-)
    Any other thoughts on my issue is appreciated.
