AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working - Vista with itunes 7.7.0.43

Question

All..
I have just installed itunes 7.7.0.43 (downloaded from apple.com not via itunes update)on my Vista machine (SP1). When I now launch itunes I get a barrage of windows reporting that "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" a new box opens every 10 secs or so.
This as you can guess cannot be right..
Anyone else get this and I guess do we have to wait for a fix..?

I'm having this problem too.
I'm new to Vista, couldn't find a way to copy the text of the error window itself, but here is a copy of information from the area you mentioned (some of the information is different in every error event):
