AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working

When I attempt syncing iPhone 3GS with laptop, am constantly getting "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" message, and iTunes hangs. My new laptop is a Dell Studio 1555, Windows 7 64-bit. The phone was syncing contacts and everything ok with my former Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop, as well as my Dell PC at work (both running Windows XP Pro). Since purchasing the new laptop, I have had difficulty syncing my contacts to the phone. At first when i plugged in iPhone to sync, system would start syncing; it may have even worked ok the first time. But after that, every time I try to sync, iTunes hangs. When it hangs I use Task Manager to exit the program; most often now, i get the error message "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working". Of course I have lost all of my contacts and ringtones on the phone, and am unable to re-sync to get contacts back on my phone. Here is latest crash message from today:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes,as I had seen recommended somewhere in Apple Support, but it did not work. As soon as I plugged in phone to sync, the message came back. By the way I am set up to manually manage music, etc. on the iPhone sync.
I have seen this issue but I don't remember didn't seeing any with my particular configuration. Is there anyone out there who has been able to fix this problem on their system? Help?!

Same Laptop, Same problem.

    HELP!
Whenever I open iTunes Windows displays a message that says, "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working. Windows will notify you when a solution is available." Also when I plug my ipod into my computer iTunes doesn't recognize that it is plugged in.

  • AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working - Windows Vista Home Premium 64

I have iTunes 9.0.1 on my Acer AX1700-U3700A running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit version. In case it matters I am using McAfee.
I can connect my iPhone 3G to my computer and iTunes finds it. But whenever I "right click" on the iPhone icon I get the dreaded "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working". I've followed Apple's uninstall and reinstall instructions twice to no avail. When I try "repairing" AppleMobileDeviceHelper I am told that I don't have the .msi file to repair it from.
I've tried the "Run iTunes as an Administrator" option but I get the same result.
I see some people recommend deleting the AppleMobileDeviceHelper binary altogether but want to make sure I'll be able to still sync my and my wife's iPhones and iPods.
Does Apple had a fix for this?
Is there some settings I need to change in McAfee? I've confirmed that iTunes has "Full Access" through McAfee (I'm only including this as in some other threads some pointed toward their anti-virus applications as part of the trouble.)
    Thanks in Advance,

  • AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working - Vista with itunes 7.7.0.43

    All..
I have just installed itunes 7.7.0.43 (downloaded from apple.com not via itunes update)on my Vista machine (SP1). When I now launch itunes I get a barrage of windows reporting that "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working" a new box opens every 10 secs or so.
This as you can guess cannot be right..
Anyone else get this and I guess do we have to wait for a fix..?

    I'm having this problem too.
I'm new to Vista, couldn't find a way to copy the text of the error window itself, but here is a copy of information from the area you mentioned (some of the information is different in every error event):

  • ITunes 7.7 - Error Message: AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working

Can anyone help with the above problem. I installed 7.7 two days ago and now cannot stop these error messages from popping up.
I can play iTunes, but the whole time it is running this message pops up repeatedly. So far I have let it get to about nine messages and then I have closed it down.
I have tried reinstalling, repairing and removing iTunes, but when I reinstalled, the problem came back.
I'd be very grateful for any help with this.
    Many thanks.

  • "AppleMobileDeviceHelper Has Stopped Working" -- how to fix??

The "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" every 60 seconds or so triggers the above Windows error message. In additon, when I connect my iPhone 3GS, I get various messages -- iTunes Sync Services problem, iPhone not recognized, etc. In the time it's taken to write this mesasge, I've had a 1/2 dozen AppleMobileDeviceHelper error messages.
I've repaired, removed & reinstalled iTunes several times, to no avail. I had no problems with using iTunes and syncing my iPhone under Win 7 for nearly two months, then a couple of weeks ago these problems started arising. I can't correlate any software install at that time, so I'm stumped.
    Suggestions?

Another datapoint -- video and audio play suffers from major stalls -- interruptions lasting upwards of 20-30 seconds, play for a few seconds, interruption, etc. Yet Window's Task Manager shows no other significant process use of CPU resources.

If you're not using an iTouch or iPhone, just get rid of that AppleMobileDevice.exe program from your PC.
    Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
I got rid of it and I can still sync my older iPods, no problem. Also, itunes doesn't hang when I try to shut it down.

If you have an itouch or iphone, maybe those forums will have another solution.

  • Error: "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working"

I repeatedly get this error anytime I leave iTunes opened for more than 30 seconds (if that) and it will not quit, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, as well as trying the repair function... I've tried the uninstall and reinstall from both the disk and the download from the site, neither have been successful. Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated! Also if it matters I have an iTouch.
    Thanks,

  • Apple Mobile Device Helper has stopped working - stuck in loop

I keep getting a message/check box (AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working)whenever I load iTunes under Vista. If I don't click and respond, my task bar gets cluttered up with these messages - I don't know what to do short of uninstalling everything.
Any ideas of what else I can do to stop this box from coming up, so that I can use iTunes normally?
    Thanks

You could try uninstalling Apple Mobile Device support using add/remove programs. I tunes doesn't require it and will work without it. However if you need it, try doing a repair install of iTunes which will reinstall Apple Mobile Deviced support.

  • "Mobile Device helper has stopped working" after installing most recent

OK. Like a thousand other threads that have been posted over the past week or so on this topic and having tried most of the suggestions, I find myself at a loss.
After most recent update (which I installed on Monday) from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 all **** has broken loose between my *iPhone, iTunes & Outlook*. This all came to light just hours after the install. . . . I noticed that my phone wasn't syncing - at all, it just "hung" there then I went into my contacts in Outlook - gone. . . UGH, EEK, OK, so they're still on my iPhone BUT I can't get to them in Outlook. After loosing most of yesterday and all of today I am at the mercy of someone who might know how to resolve this issue.
    _*Steps I have taken :*_
I have un-installed and reinstalled iTunes 5 times, no luck, I've restarted, yada yada yada. I've hidden my Norton's Internet Security, allowed iTunes, etc. *Still no luck*. Take in mind, all was great after months of perfect syncing, etc. no problems whatsoever . . .
*The two messages that I continue to get when I open iTunes and connect my phone:*
    1) "Mobile Device helper has stopped working"
    2) " Unable to load data-class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later".
The most recent error message under "Problems Reports & Solutions" on my start menu read:
    Product: MobileDeviceHelper
    Problem: Stopped working

This is the same message that I have received the last 10 times under Mobile Device Helper.
*Please PLEASE please*, does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
*Thank you SO MUCH for any insight.*
    -signed, UGH!!!

    Hi,
I have had the same experience... uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and all Apple components only to now be in a position where I can't sync my iphone at all (before I started trying various solutions I could still sync music... now nothing!) and I continually get the messages "mobile device helper has stopped working" and then "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later".
I even tried reinstalling iTunes 9.0 but somehow I don't have the old library saved - means I lose all the ratings, playlists etc.
    Really frustrating and disappointing.

  • Apple mobile device service has stopped working - continues

    Hi
I have a 16GB iPhone with 02 in the UK.
My first iPhone with 02 had trouble receiving calls with about 90% of incoming calls going straight to voice mail. I also couldn't backup that phone as every time I tried with iTunes, i got the message "Apple mobile device service has stopped working" about a minute into backup.
This happened continually, I re-installed iTunes so many times, still with little luck. I tried a different cable too. All on a brand new Dell Vostro desktop PC.
So, I took the phone back to 02 with these problems. 02 promptly replaced my iPhone.
Now, I have exactly the same problem. I obviously have nothing to restore on the iPhone as I was never able to back it up in the first place.
Every time I try and backup the iPhone I get the error "Apple mobile device service has stopped working". Again i tried a different cable and have removed and re-installed iTunes several times.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Regards
    D

I was having this same problem with my new iPad 3G. It was driving me insane and preventing me from syncing the iPad.
I removed and re-installed all Apple components from my computer as recommended (in the recommended order). But, the problem persisted.
The error message looked just like the one posted above:
    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe
    Application Version: 16.691.14.1
    Application Timestamp: 4ba3b8fe
    Fault Module Name: CoreFoundation.dll
    Fault Module Version: 1.550.17.21
    Fault Module Timestamp: 4b8cb530
    Exception Code: c0000005
    Exception Offset: 0000db6b
    OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033
The SOLUTION came when i discovered that there were two copies of CoreFoundation.dll on my computer.
One was in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support.
The other was in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support.
I removed the copy of CoreFoundation.dll from the Mobile Device Support folder, and the problem vanished.
    I hope this helps.
    -Steven.
