AppleMobileDeviceService.exe floors CPU and won't sync iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.4 and XP

I just updated iTunes to 10.4.1.10. After the upgrade, the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe runs one of the two cores at 100%, resulting in 50% CPU utilization.
When I connect my iPhone 4 (4.3.5) the sync starts but hangs on the first backup step. At that point, both the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe and iTunes are flooring the CPU's... now at 100%.
I've reintalled iTunes without luck. I've also re-booted the phone, which has solved sync issues in the past, with no luck.
I can see others having issues like this, but I haven't seen a resolution yet.

I called Apple Support today and they instructed me to follow the same article. Follow it closely (use the detailed steps). It did work for me.
I did have a lot of trouble unistalling the bonjour service. It did unistall without error, but the service and the directory and app and DLL where still left. I could not delete the DLL, even after the restart. I manually removed the service and rebooted again, still no luck. I even ran a windows systool to look for open file handles to the DLL and found none... So, I can't explain why I couldn't delete it.
Other than that, the instructions went smooth. I simply ignored the bonjour issue, reinstalled, and my problems were solved.
Before unistalling, I would export my library (just in case). Do this from File --> Library --> Export. This may help you preserve you playlists if something goes south.
Also, I would backup all of my library in the MyDocument --> MyMusic --> iTunes Folder.
I didn't need either of the above, iTunes was able to read all of the original files and preferences when reinstalled. But it's better safe than sorry.

I cannot update OSX version 10.6.8 on my mac in order to sync iphone 5s with itunes, I am currently running 10.5.8 which appears not to support iphone 5s, i have available space on my mac but cannot seem to install. What am i doing wrong, what do i need to do ?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's an Intel Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update twice.

Trouble syncing iPhone 4s with iTunes (sync won't start)

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my computer, both my computer and iTunes recognize it and nothing seems out of the ordinary until I try and sync the phone with iTunes. After pushing the sync button, the top of itunes says "Syncing iPhone (step 1 of 7)", and under that "waiting for sync to start", but after a minute or so a pop up box appears that says the sync could not be completed because it failed to start. I've tried all my USB ports, multiple cables, both my phone and itunes are completely up to date. Any idea what could cause this problem?

Is 10.6.6 the current 10.6 version?

Syncing iPhone 4 with itunes won't accurately show my correct memory usage

I'me syncying my iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.1 and even though i unchecked to synce any photos and my camera roll on my phone only has 4 pics taken from my phone the memory usage bar at the bottom of iTunes still says i have 2.5GB of photos on my phone. can someone help get iTunes to accurately display my memory usage?

Syncing iphone 6 with iTunes inconsistency

I am having difficulties in syncing my iphone 6 with iTunes. I have all selections made press apply and then it rushes through steps 1 to 5 and removes my selection randomly deleting music and videos from my phone. Anyone else having issues.

When the media on the device won't update as expected during a sync the method that usually works is this:
Export the contents of the camera roll. (You should do this routinely anyway.)
Backup the device, unless you have a recent backup that you would prefer to restore.
Restore as a new device. (The general restore process doesn't seem to clear things out before reloading, so there can be issues with missing artwork or incorrect capacity calculations.)
Restore the chosen backup.
In some cases it might pay to use the recovery mode method given in HT201263: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at step 3 to ensure that a device has been completely reset before reloading your content.

Syncing IPhone apps with ITunes or vice versa?

I have what is probably a very simple question but the more information that I read the more confused I'm getting. I use my IPhone to download apps and then I delete them if I decide I don't want them. I only use ITunes to "backup" my device. I have never downloaded an app to Itunes and I don't plan to; I do everything on the phone itself. It is my understanding that if I sync with Itunes I can first transfer purchases from the phone and then sync the phone with itunes. It is also my understanding that the end result is that the apps on my phone will match the apps in itunes. However, if I deleted 20 apps from my phone but not from Itunes, then syncing is just gonna put them right back on my phone, correct?
All I want to do is backup my phone in case something happens. I don't care what's accessible to me if I'm on ITunes because I never am. Can I just backup my phone and completely ignore the apps? If I were to lose my phone, I could just login to the app store and re-download them.
Sorry for the lengthy question but it seems I'm trying to do the opposite of what syncing is intended for. Is syncing synonymous with backing up?

It is my understanding that if I sync with Itunes I can first transfer purchases from the phone and then sync the phone with itunes.
Before you connect your phone to your computer, make sure that autosync is disabled in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices.
Make sure to have at least one contact and event listed on your computer, syncing to an empty address book will delete your contacts.
Right click on your device and choose "transfer purchases". All bought media and apps from iTunes will be copied to your iTunes library on your computer. Apps you deleted on your phone before will not be transferred, but iTunes will remember that you bought them, in case you want to download them again for free: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Apps you deleted on the phone will not be synced back unless you select them again in the app pane and sync your phone after that.
Transferring your apps to your iTunes library is necessary, because the phone is not supposed to be a backup medium. You might consider that when iOS5 and iClound will be introduced, but until then it's a good idea to have a backup of your apps inside your iTunes library.
To back up manually without syncing do this:

Thanks for the link, Niel. I'm kind of disappointed with Apple that they're making us buy an upgrade to her OS to get all of her Apple products to work together. It seems weird that we could have any old Windows machine and this would work great, but the fact that she has a MacBook is screwing this up.

Syncing Iphone 4 with Itunes

When syncing Iphone 4 to Itunes. It syncs Contacts, calendar, notes and Applications fine. When it starts to sync music it will sync about 50 songs and than Error pops up saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I Send the error report and it shuts down Itunes. If I don't send Itunes the report it shuts down too. Ive restored the Iphone, Ive repaired Itunes, Ive removed Itunes and than reinstalled iTunes. Ive done the diagnostics check on Itunes and nothing works. Can someone help me out. Thanks.

Are you on a mac? If so, try running Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions on your hard drive.
Also, can you create a NEW playlist with DIFFERENT set of 50+ songs, see if you can sync then.
If it works, i'm guessing you have a corrupt mp3/mp4 song or file that is corrupt and stops the sync process. I've seen this behavior with the very first generation iPod music player.
The final stept to try is to backup and then erase/restore your iPhone 4 from your backup file. Hopefully that helps.

When I tried to sync my iPhone 4 with iTunes today, after it's been transfering my music to the library, it just pop out an window and it says there is some issue with iTunes, Windows will close the iTunes and send you back error information. My iPhone5 and iPad Air won't sync by USB with iTunes 11.1.4(62)

Since updating to iTunes 11.1.4(62) both my iPhone 5 and iPad Air do not sync. I am using an Apple USB cable plugged directly into my 27" late 2012 iMac. WIth the phone I get an -50 error message. With theiPad Air it gets up to syncing Apps, and then gets hung up. I have rebooted all of the devices and iTunes multiple times, and it still does not work. Any ideas? I see a lot of people are having syncing troubles with iTunes 11.1.4(62) on different devices too.

It sounds like you have a firewall or virus protection software interfering with the process.

I am currently using and iPhone 4. This morning I had synced my iPhone with itunes and it was working fine. I came home and wanted to add some music and such to it and all of a sudden i will plug it in to itunes and i,t looks like its going gets to step 2 of 6 (which is the back up process) and then an error message comes up saying itunes has stopped working, my only option to do is exit the window..
Any ideas why this would be the case? its really frustrating me. I am also not the most computer savvy.

If that doesn't help, if you are using a Windows based computer, could be your anti virus software or your firewall that's preventing the sync.

Syncing iPhone 4 with iTunes won't allow pictures when 6.6 GB free space

For some reason when syncing my phone in iTunes I keep getting the message at the end saying that it cannot sync my pics because of too little available space? I already have some picture folders ticked off that was synced earlier too my phone, but if I tick off another folder (with only a few pictures) it will still say I haven't enough space which is not true when I have 6.6 GB free space? Can anyone help with this problem?

ITunes won't sync iPhone QuickTips with my iPod Touch

iPod Touch 2G (iOS4.2.1) used to work fine with the iPhone Quick Tips podcasts.
Suddenly iTunes (10.2.1) has stopped syncing these podcasts with my iPod Touch.
What gives?
Every time I sync my iPod Touch, I get an error saying that the podcast is not playable on my iPod Touch.
Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Unknown Error 13019 when syncing Iphone 4 with Itunes

Hello. I used to have absolutely no problem syncing podcasts/music/videos with my phone. Then one day, my friend came over with his ipod and synced with my library and now it no longer allows me to change those 3 things. It will backup my phone just fine as well as allow me to update my ringtones and update my apps, but I always get that unknown error 13019 right before it finishes syncing and it won't update my library with any changes to music/podcasts/movies.
I've tried reinstalling and that doesn't fix it. Any help would be fine. Also, the media I had on my phone prior to my friend syncing his ipod stays on my phone to this day, I just can't add to it or change it in anyway.
