Applescript auto-reply in mail updates???

Hi everyone!
Some time ago I posted a question about how to get an auto-reply set up in Mail using rules and applescript. I was told there was a bug and I'm just curious does anyone know if this has been fixed in 10.5.5? I made some tests and it seems it's still an issue but I just wanted to know if anyone has any additional info?
Thanks in advance!
Reg

Thanks for the reply Camelot and sorry for being vague...as reference here is a previous post:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1561599&tstart=0
I know I can send a basic auto-reply...but what I want to do is to send one using Applescript...actually it's creating a new mail message...because I want to put a bit more detail into it than I can do with the regular auto-reply such as changing the subject and adding attachments. But for some reason the handler doesn't trigger with the Applescript and it doesn't work. What I do is I use Applescript which triggers another Applescript app which creates the new message (auto-reply) that I want...but sometimes it's buggy and causes Mail to crash because it takes so long for the rule to process...hope that makes sense?
Thanks again for your input...

  • How to Sandbox test an auto-reply e-mail from Paypal after purchase success, and send one yourself?

    Hi, I have read detail here - https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-use-PayPal-Archive/Auto-Reply/m-p/9339 ...but need to know how to test that a reply has gone out to an e-mail address after purchase, using Sandbox?   Obviously I'm using random e-mail address for buyer and business Sandbox accounts, so is there a way to force the e-mail reply to a working e-mail address to check? ----- Also, what PHP code do I need to write after ipn success/validation to send an e-mail myself to the customer? Thanks! Ash

    not really nessecary but whould be a nice  jextra
    You can but you would need to send it as an html email which is much more complicated.
    What you would do is build a page/table construction like below. You would need to use the php variables to echo out the information in the <td></td> cells (example below).
    $reply = $_POST['email'];
    $from = '[email protected]';
    $replysubject = "Auto-Reply: Website Name";
    $headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
    $headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
    $headers .= "From: $from\r\nReply-to: $reply";
    $replymessage = '
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

    </table>
    </body>
    </html>';
    mail($reply, $replysubject, $replymessage, $headers);

  • Preventing Loops Mail Auto Reply

    Using the Apple Mail client I've been unable to figure out how to set up an auto reply rule that also prevents message loops. Can someone help with this, please?
    Thanks

    Well, obviously by not sending the auto-reply to one of the mail accounts you’ve set up in Mail or by specifying the appropriate conditions in the rule so that messages sent by yourself aren’t auto-replied to. More specific information is needed if you want a more specific answer...
    BTW, there is no way you could be using both Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and Mail 1.3 simultaneously, as your profile indicates. Please, update your My Settings’s profile (and click Save). And if you’re really running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger forum. If the discussion applies to both Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s difficult to know that in advance.

  • How do i auto reply on Mac Mail 3.6?

    Hello helpers. I'm running Mail 3.6 (old - I'm due to get new Mac soon). How do I set a Rule to auto-reply telling people I'm away, please? Last time I tried it, it was a disaster - resending old msgs out to 100s of people. Thanks, any help really appreciated.

  • Mail auto reply - vacation message

    Can anyone tell me where I need to go to do "out of the office message" or "auto reply". Im using mac.com on my email. Is it on mac.com or in the mail somewhere? Thanks

    Go to Mail>Help and type Reply in the query box. Then select "sending replies automatically" but read the entire explanation so you are aware of the hazards. By logging on my ISP website I can set up this function. The one from my ISP works well so you might want to look into that option if your ISP provides it.

    I need to block a certain Email id from sending mails , but at the same time auto reply should work and any mail received by that id an auto reply should be generated .
    Please guide me m a not an exchange pro.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I have some tests in my lab using Exchange 2010. I recommend you create a transport rule to prohibit a user from sending emails. Here is an example for your reference.
    And then use the following cmdlet to set the auto reply for this user.
    Set-MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration -Identity "amy02" -AutoReplyState Enabled -ExternalMessage "External OOF message here" -InternalMessage "Internal OOF message here"
    Here is the result.
    Hope it helps.

  • Mac Mail Rule - auto reply not sending while computer off

    I created a Rule to send an out of office message while I was on vacation.  I made the rule active and tested it from a different email account, and it worked.
    While I was gone my computer was turned off.  I was receiving emails, but no auto-reply message went out.  When I got back to the office and booted up my computer and opened Mac Mail, it was then that all of my auto-reply messages went out.  So, if someone emailed me a week before, they did not receive any auto-reply until I booted up my computer and opened Mac Mail.  If someone had emailed me 5 times while I was gone, they received 5 auto-reply responses when I returned and booted up the computer and opened Mac Mail.
    How can I make it so that Mac Mail sends the auto-reply while I am away and the computer is off?

    I don't think you can send e-mails when the computer is off and the program is shut down. Try setting up a reply on your e-mail provider's web site.

  • AppleScript for Auto Reply to an email with an Attachment????

    Forgive me. All this applescript stuff is fairly new to me. I've set up my Entourage email to automatically reply to certain rules that I have created. Well, I'm trying to have an attachment added to those auto replied emails. How can this be done? I'v researched for days and can only find stuff concerning Outlook Express which you are apparently given an option to add an attachment other than the mere text reply. Any info would be great!
    Thanks much,
    Robert

    try this Robert, works here for me using Entourage 11.3.3
    tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
    set theOrigionalMessage to the current messages
    end tell
    repeat with theMsg in theOrigionalMessage
    my ProcessMsg(theMsg)
    end repeat
    on ProcessMsg(theMsg)
    tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
    activate
    set theSender to sender's address of theMsg
    set theSubject to "Heres your attachment"
    set theBody to "test"
    set _Attachment to "Macintosh HD:Users:Budgie:Desktop:TEST.txt" as alias
    set MyReply to make new outgoing message with properties {recipient:theSender, subject:"Hello: " & theSubject, content:theBody}
    make new attachment at MyReply with properties {file:_Attachment}
    open MyReply --comment out if you dont need to view
    --send MyReply -- un comment to send without viewing
    end tell
    end ProcessMsg

    Hai!
    I'm new to website building, but i already came a long way

    Whould it also be possible to send the sender the submited data (looking like the filled in form or so)?
    not really nessecary but whould be a nice  jextra
    You can but you would need to send it as an html email which is much more complicated.
    What you would do is build a page/table construction like below. You would need to use the php variables to echo out the information in the <td></td> cells (example below).
    $reply = $_POST['email'];
    $from = '[email protected]';
    $replysubject = "Auto-Reply: Website Name";
    $headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
    $headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
    $headers .= "From: $from\r\nReply-to: $reply";
    $replymessage = '
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <title>Comments from Website</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#ffffff" style="font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; padding: 10px 15px;">Name: </strong>'.$name.'
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>';
    mail($reply, $replysubject, $replymessage, $headers);

  • How do I create an auto reply for one person in my buddy list?

    I want to be able to have an automatic reply to one person in my buddy list whenever they IM me so that i dont have to reply myself. I dont want to block them but i sometimes want to be able to just avoid them and so does anyone know any applescript that i can run whenever they send me a message??

    Hi,
    In the Buddy List highlight a Buddy.
    Use the CMD and I keys together (Get Info)
    This brings up their Info Card.
    Select Actions  (Same as Alerts in the Preferences In Fact some versions do Read  "Alerts" )
    Change the top item to Invite (Text)
    Select the AppleScript option.
    Set the Script to be Auto-Decline.
    This will produce no response on the Buddies end.
    For that go to the General Section of the Preferences and set  the option to "Auto-Reply with my Away Message"
    This will then send the Away message to the Buddy set in the first bit but to no--one else.
    If you wish to be able to Reply when you have an Available Message up, that is a little more difficult.

  • How do i set an auto-reply at weekends only

    Hi,
    Ive been trying to work this out for days, but alas its beaten me ! I have a photography business with 'normal' business days staring at 9am Tuesday, ending 5pm Saturday. I therefore get a lot of enquiries on Sundays and Mondays (ie our 'weekend') and people don't often appreciate that its our day off. I'd like to set up an auto reply to e mails arriving in my inbox on Sundays and Mondays that say something like "I'm afraid that were closed on Sundays and Mondays, but we'll get back to you as soon as possible from Tuesday morning..." etc.
    My theory is that i could set up the autoreply on Automator and have Calendar 'switch it on and off " at the right times with a repeat function. I just dont know how to set about doing either of teh two steps (if indeed its possible)  and how to avoid e mail loops with people who also have autoreplies.
    Any thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciatded !!
    Thanks
    Halid

    In searching for a solution, I found this: http://guides.macrumors.com/DrivesandFilesystems
    The info on Ext2 sounded promising, but comments at SourceForge indicated it did not work on Snow Leopard.
    Another option is one of the NTFS drivers for the Mac. You could then format it as NTFS and use it on both Mac and Windows. However, I don't know how the permissions issues will work out.
    I have run [NTFS-3G with MacFuse|http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac>, but not enough to say it is a viable solution for you. There used to be a free version, but it appears that it is no longer free.

  • Auto reply in CIM 4.2.4

    We have installed Cisco Email interaction manager 4.2.4 at one of our client site.
    here we are unable to find the option for configuring auto reply (mail acknoldegment) in this.version of CIM.
    If any one know about the auto reply configuration in CIM 4.2.4

    You have not made a rule. It's not that obvious - but type the rule name in the Rule Name box and press the Enter key. Now you can select and configure the rule, and again press enter to create a row.
    Lots of the EIM config works this way. You must press Enter.
    Regards,
    Geoff
