Applescript Click Location - Need Help

Question

What I'm trying to do is create a script that will perform a series of clicks, all with set random variables. For instance:
tell application "System Events"
          tell process "X"
                    click at {100-120, 200-220}
                    click at {20-30, 10-20}
          end tell
end tell
Part of the problem is that I don't know how to program in a variable click, a range of coordinates that is random. The other problem is that not even a simple click script will work. For instance:
tell application "System Events"
          tell process "X"
                    click at {100, 200}
          end tell
end tell
Comes back with the error message "System Events got an error: Can't make {100, 200} into type list". I've searched around a bit and a few people suggested that it may have something to do with the Privacy permissions, but both System Events and Applescript Editor are enabled.
Application X is a Java Applet, which may be reason that my single click isn't working, but I'd appreciate it if you could suggest a workaround for this or any possible solutions.
*Side note: I've managed to get everything but the variable click working with a program called "CliClick", but I can't figure out how to set a random range of click coordinates. So if anybody knows how to do that, that'd avoid Applescript Editor alltogether.
I'm currently running OSX 10.9.2.

You can't pass ranges of coordinates in, but it's trivial to pre-calculate a random number and use that:
--set random coordinates (adjust the ranges as necessary:
set xloc to random number from 100 to 200
set yloc to random number from 150 to 600
tell application "System Events"
          tell process "X"
                    click at {xloc, yloc}
          end tell
end tell
If you want to use the shell, do a similar thing - calculate two variables in a shell script and use those to invoke cliclick.
