AppleScript for import from Mail

Is there an AppleScript that will move mail photo attachments to iPhoto? I will be receiving a lot of emails with photos in the next few weeks. I can use the slideshow in mail to move to iPhoto but would like something faster.

Curt
When you receive an email with photos, you will see two buttons just below the email headers. One is Slideshow, the other is Save. Click and hold on the save button and you'll get the 'Add to iPhoto' option.

  • Toolbars-no icons for import from scanner or undo

I'm using WIN XP Home Edition. I'm beginning to use PSE 5.0, after upgrading from PSE 2.0. In 2.0 there were useful icons in one of the toolbars at the top of the program: one was undo, and also return (to return from an undo); also, there was an icon for importing from a scanner. I don't find these icons in 5.0, and I have to use menu commands.
Is there any way in 5.0 to create a personalized toolbar with these helpful tools? Or are there toolbars I'm not seeing that can be enabled?
    Thanks, ED.

    Ed,
The short answer to both your questions is No.

  • IPhoto won't import from mail

For some reason, I can't seem to import pictures from mial into iPhoto. Running the latest software.

This is a bug in Mt. Lion, see:
Mountain Lion: May be unable to save from Mail directly to iPhoto
As a work-around: Ctrl-click the photo attachments and send them to iPhoto with "Open with > other > iPhoto" instead of "Export to iPhoto" or drag them to the iPhoto icon in the Dock or to the Desktop.
    Send feedback to Apple.

  • Mail "import" from MAIL

My old imac died so I removed the hard drive and have mostly succesfully ported everything to an old mini. The one issue i have is with MAIL. I have copied over everything and placed them all in the right place but MAIL cannot see the old accounts, settings or mail in the accounts. I don't mind re-doing the settings but I would like to retrieve my old mail. MAIL's wizard sort of offers to import but it doesn't offer MAIL as an mail app to import from? If I switch to another mail app, will it import>? Thanks.

Hi, if you can see the top Mail folder on the other drive...
Mail>File>Import>Mail from OSX, choose the top Mail folder, wat for it to read all of it, then you'll be given choices of which boxes to Import.

  • IPhoto annoyingly renames photos that I import from Mail

When I "import to iPhoto" from my Mail app, iPhoto strips the original photo name and renames everything Image, Image1, Image2.... I only recently noticed this and it's messing me up since the data is now lost (i didn't keep the original emails with the original photo names). Is there a preference somewhere that I can select to STOP iPhoto from doing this? Now, I have to save the photo from email to a folder on my desktop and import from there. What a pain.
    MacOS Xv. 10.7.5
    iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3
    Thanks! V.

Thanks, Larry. When in Mail, if I want to save photo attachments from someone's email, while in that I email, I go to the far right (next to Attachments) and click on "Save" and scroll down to "add to iPhoto"... Today, when I did that, the Mail attachment showed as "100_0628.jpg" --- when I went to see it in iPhoto, it showed up as "Image 1." When i go to Information, there is no evidence of a previous name. The date of the photo, naturally, becomes today's date.
And thanks for the tip about updating my profile. Done.

  • Documentation on applescript for printing in mail

Is there any simple way to tell mail to print a message using applescript
Something like this (setup to run with a rule):
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theSelectedMessages for rule theRule
repeat with theMessage from 1 to count theSelectedMessages
                     -- Process the current message
display dialog "test" buttons {"OK"} default button 1
                     print theMessage without dialog
                             end repeat
end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
The script has no isses trigering from rules set in mail but I can't for the life of me figure out the right context to get the "print" command to work or even find any documentation on it for mail.
I have tried tons of diffrent varents of what to put after the "print" command but have yet to get it to do anything.
I know that you can save all the contense of an email into a text file then use textedit to print and I have had no issue getting that working but a lot of the emaills I need printed now are formated with graphics with html so all you get is a garbage text file to print.
    Also messed with like:
    keypress "p" using command down
To try and manuly get it to print from mail but still no luck.
I have tried to get this working on 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8
Ideally I want this to work on 10.7 not sure how much mail has changed between versions when it comes to applescript.
Anyone have any insite for doing this or am I just crazy thinking this should be a simple applescript?

Yes getting the script to auto save out as a PDF would also be an option but as with the print command I have yet to find a way to get it to save out as a full PDF ony ways to save out the text and then have it made into a PDF.
    http://macscripter.net/viewtopic.php?id=25865
This is the script I have gotten working but it only really extracts text.
I know it can print attachments properly but I'm looking to print the body of an email that is formated in html.
    Notes
Please note, that pergamail currently doesn't support fancy HTML eMail very good. You won't see any pictures or formatted text in the printouts from pergamail. Maybe this can be overcome in the future by parsing the raw source of the eMail messages with a Python/Ruby/Perl script, then extracting and saving the HTML part, and finally printing it with the «lpr»-command. Maybe.
    Future
Currently pergamail creates text files from incoming eMail messages, but it would be much better to directly create HTML or PDF documents to get more control over the print layout. previmail alreday uses an advanced HTML template and Colendarshows hot to create a PDF on the fly, so I might just need to invest another weekend to write an improved version of pergamail
As far as im aware it was never really updated to handle html formating properly.
I also played around with previmail script and it does extract the text better out of an html formated email but it still only gets the text.
I am looking for a more 1:1 way of printing an email.

  • I am trying to use the new plug-in for import from aperture. But the "import" button always disappears ... any help out there?

    Hi there
I have up-dated LR to the latest version and like to use the plug-in for the import from the Aperture library. I follow the steps suggested by an article, have saved all picture into separate folders (folder = project name) and still, after the analysis of the library, the "import" button disappears and I am stuck and can't import.
Any ideas what can be done/must be done to get this working?
    Regards
    Diethard

I am having the same issue, i've selected my Aperture library, and the "import" button does not activate.  Any idea how to fix?

  • Why can't I import from mail direct to iPhoto anymore? I used to be able to.

I have recently updated to Mountain Lion, but I am not sure if that is when the problem started, but I used to be able to hit the "import to iPhoto" option straight from Mail, and it would open iPhoto and import all of the attachments from my message.
This option now doesn't seem to be working.
I don't know if I have changed something in the settings by accident, or if it has something to do with the software updates.
    Any ideas?
    Nikki

From the Mail Application, any email I have received with photos attached, I used to be able to click on the Save button at the top of the message, which bought up a little drop down menu. From that menu, if I selected Add to iPhoto, it would automatically open iPhoto and add all of the attachments to iPhoto.
The drop down menu still appears but now nothing happens when I select Add to iPhoto.
I have to manually save them to my hard drive and then open iPhoto and import them that way, which is a long way around.
I am currently running on 10.8.2
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Not automatically importing from Mail

Ever since I got on Leopard, my ical has not automatically imported the invites from mail regardless of the setting I have it on. It was "supposed to be fixed in 10.5.1 and then .2, but never happened. Anyone else having this trouble?

I am having this problem too, running 10.5.2. I also have the problem that when I go to download appointments from the Apple Store concierge system, Firefox will not download it as a .ics file, but turns it into some whacked mpeg that is not a movie and cannot be opened.

  • Applescript get text from mail message

    Hi,
I've got a nested script that ideally would work with a multiple selection of emails. Most of the script does but I've recently found the need to add the sender's delivery address to the outgoing message. I've found a way to insert the clipboard but that leaves me only being able to send out one message at a time and I have to copy the address for each message to the clipboard first. I made a script to do that bit once I'd selected the text but this only works from Applescript Editor and not Quicksilver which is what I normally use.
So, what I'm hoping is someone would be able to help me with the a, select the right bit of text between Delivery address: and Instructions to merchant: of each message and have that work with Quicksilver and b, tell me why the following script only partially works from Quicksilver, i.e. the top bit, copy to clipboard, doesn't work.

Shoot! I wrote this huge reply and then quit Safari by accident. I'm too tired to type it all over again (I should install a keylogger).
Anyway, check out the screen shot of my workflow. the AppleScript section is where it xfers the URL from a text editor (BBEdit) to Safari. It's pretty dirty but it works.

  • Alternative to Photoshop for Importing from Scanner (Mustek A3)

Since Ps CS3 or CS4 it is not possible anymore to import directly from the Scanner. I bought a Mustek A3 Scan Express that works under VMWare Fusion/Windows XP and also came with drivers for Mac OS X. Unfortunately no scan software. It says "Use your Image Editing Software to scan".
Having two versions of Ps can cause complications. What other (cheap) applications can I use just to scan?
    Thanks!

This software package may support your needs.
    http://www.hamrick.com/
As a point of information: CS3 supports for my Canon scanner but no longer provided with CS 4.
I use the CS3 version to import than save and open CS4 to do any needed work. Also the above link is a software package, last time I checked, did independent scans as well. Perhaps a new version is available that offers interface with Photoshop?

  • How to make iMovie the default for importing from video camera?

I successfully imported 5 or 6 mini discs from the video camera, then on the next download attempt I saw a pop-up box. The box said something like "what program do you want as the default for downloading?" I was thinking iMovie, but apparently clicked iTunes (too many iTerms), and now when I put the camera into PC CONNECT mode, iMovie won't start up as it had before. How do iReverse my mistake and make iMovie the default again.
P.S. - I already tried Preferences in iMovie and in Finder.

If you are talking about having the default be Hebrew-Qwerty, then just make sure that in system preferences/language & text/input sources you have only one box checked, the one for Hebrew-Qwerty.
There is also an opportunity to choose this during initial setup, you have to click on a button to have it show you all the keyboard options, I can't remember.

Anyone with any ideas?  I had to accidently change something?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
