Applescript icon not bouncing

I've recently purchased an iMac with OS10.4. The scripts from my previous machine using OS10.3.9 are working, but the applescript icon does not bounce when there is a problem running the script. I use the bounce to let me know when there is a problem with a script that is running in the background. Is there some preference that needs to be changed or has applescript changed from OS10.3 to OS10.4? or something?

Hi Anthony,
Sorry to respond to a solved question but could you try something?
Go to spotlight and write "jpg" see if anything is filed with that format.
If so click it once so it is not opened but selected. Then go to "archive"
in the menu and select info.
In the pop up that apears you can choose "open with" it says "preview"
as the prefered application to open "jpg" with. Choose Quicktime player.
(In the top of the window you see a Quicktime icon that says "JPEG"
Now select "change all".
Click the "jpg" again once just so it is selected. A window pops up where
you can select the recomended application to open the file.
Choose "all applications"
Just in case you selected an explicit binding pref for jpg other than Quicktime
knows it. This is systemwide, thus even when another user is logged in
this setting will not change other than manual. See wether this has an
effect on the launch sequence to run in the right order.
I am trying some things that can fill in some spots, so this will probably
not solve a lot at this point.

I have a new MacBook(2012). Being a new Mac user, I do not know what to do when Safari doesn't open at all. The icon just bounces up and down and when the cursor is on the top main menu bar it is the spinning rainbow wheel. Any ideas for help?

When I try to open safari the icon stats bouncing and then nothing happens other than the cursor turning to a spinning rainbow wheel when it hoovers on the top main menu bar. I have shut down and restart several times. My safari worked yesterday and then today this, but with. I indication of a problem. I can't even get the browser window to open so that I can clear caches or reset anything. When I opened my computer this time I don't even get a bouncing icon. No recognition of selecting the program at all. If I go to spotlight and try to open safari from here I still get no response. Can you help?

If you have moved the Safari application from the Applications folder, move it back.
As far as the cache goes, there's a work around for that when you can't empty the Safari cache from the menu bar.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.aple.Safari.Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Try Safari.

Additional Information
OS X automatically relaunches the Finder when it is quit. If the Finder is unresponsive, use Force Quit to relaunch it. Select Finder in the Force Quit Window or Dock, then click Relaunch.

Can anyone ID this problem? Finder icon started bouncing, unresponsive, now Safe Mode reboot stops 1/3 in and shuts down iMac. Virus?

This started yesterday. I switch on the computer, go into my User account and the Finder icon was bouncing in the deck while a window flashed on about Restoring Windows though you could never click on it because...it kept flashing. The folders on my desktop disappeared so I went into a secondary user account and opened it to find a virus scan. That user account had no issue with the bouncing Finder icon. I downloaded ClamXav and ran it but that being a rarely used user account, it found nothing infected. I went back in in Safe Mode and was able to see my invisible files but the Finder being unresponsive, I could basically only look at them. Also, I couldn't activate ClamXav after downloading it in that user account. All it did was allow me to see my files.
This morning, while I switched on the computer the Safe Mode came on without me holding down the Shift key. Sadly, it didn't get past the third of the little progress bar before shutting down the computer. This happened trying to open either user accounts. I'm shut out. I'm so shocked this happened. I called the ISP and he said everything was normal at his end, naturally in spite of a lot of freezing and not allowing more than one device on wifi at a time. This is an upgraded Internet service after moving to a new place. Otherwise for the few moments it lights up to show me the two users at log in, nothing is visually wrong.
If this has ever happened to anyone, please enlighten me. I've called a Mac repair shop and expect to bring my iMac in. It's barely two years old. : (

Applescript menu not working

OS10.9.5. MBP i7.
In the top bar the Applescript Icon (the "S")is not working properly.
When I click it, it should look like this:
But looks like this about 98% of the time I acces it.
Any idea as to how to fix this? Thanks.

The front application will dictate the AppleScript submenu structure. In the following example, Terminal was active. As soon as I click on Safari, then the first item changes to Open Safari Scripts Folder. That rgb16 application is actually located in a home sub-directory of source AppleScripts.

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

The Illustrator CC doc icon now bounces...... errrr why?

Can anyone tell me how to turn off the bouncing doc icon on Illustrator CC? (OS X)
I work with large files that can take a while to save and so while they are saving I get on with other stuff (if a web page takes more than 5 seconds to load another tab is open with another web page opening, I'm busy and I don't like waiting!).
But whereas before I could leave Illustrator to merrily save my file trusting that it would know what it's doing, it now feels the need to repeatedly bounce the doc icon just to make sure I hadn't forgotten that it was saving a file.... Admittedly my memory isn't the best but I've never yet forgotten that I was saving a file whilst doing something else!
I haven't been able to find the preference to turn off 'limited attention span reminder' so can anyone else help me please find it or has this been added like a mandatory 'mind the step' sign, for people who probably shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised?

Don't believe that you can modify a wait time as the icon is supposed to bounce anytime an app needs your attention. You can disable the bouncing icon as per the instructions here, http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-permanently-stop-dock-icons-from-bouncing/.

I installed the following tools :-
Weblogic Server 10.3.6
SE JDK 6U35 64bit
Oracle Portal,Forms,Report,and Discoverer Services (11.1.1.4.0)
1. Create a "icons" folder and place all gif images in there :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\<icons>
2. Within icons i made a jar file of all gif images :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\icons\jar -cvf frmicons.jar *.gif
3. Copy this new jar file into :-
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Form1\forms\java\
4. Edit formsweb.cfg file:
imageBase=codebase
archive=frmall.jar,frmicons.jar
5. Edit Registry.dat file:
default.icons.iconpath=/forms/java
default.icons.iconextension=gif
After doing above configuration i create a form and place an icon on the button.
Set button's icon property = Yes and give name of icon without extension.
When i run the form not display icons who configure icons.
Please give the solution how to set icons on button.

Hi was wondering how I would send a photo as a jpg icon and have it show up as the same icon, not the actual photo embedded in the email?

You can Command (right) - click on the photo in the email and select View as Icon in the contextual menu.
Set the format as plain text as select Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments in the Edit ➙ Attachments menu.
It will display as an icon in the outgoing email. However, no matter you do it will depend on how the receiving email client is configured as to how the photo will be presented at that end.

Over / Down Icons not in exported folder.
I've created some action buttons, and when a user hovers over it turns blue, and when they click it turns red. The png files I used for this I put into a folder called "IMG" (configuratorname.assets/IMG/blue-50-26.png). This folder is located in the .assets directory that configurator created when I saved the .gpc file. When I export the panel, the custom png files (red & blue) aren't exported into the content folder. How do I get it to export the custom icon png files ? Also, do I have to use a custom path in the the Over Icon and Down Icon fields. Here is what is in there now "Locales/IMG/blue-50-26.png", I think somewhere I read that I need to use a ".." at the beginning so it's a relative reference, not absolute ? My goal is for this panel to work on various machines, and all the needed componets are locally resident and pointed to within the content folder.

In your case, the png files will not be export to content folder, these files will be exported to content/Configurator-Panel.assets/IMG/.
You can not use ".." to set the path of icon pictures. The root directory for icon picture is configuratorname.assets/. The value for icon picture path are relative to this root directory. After exporting, the pictures will be exported to content/configuratorname.assets/.
The png file be scale to fill the dimension of the button. We strongly suggest that you set the png file and the button in same size. If the size of png file is lager, it should be in same ratio with the size of the button.

Microsoft Office icons not installed after latest update

Just updated OS X Yosemite to 10.10.1. Microsoft Office 2011 icons have not been installed on the dock and do not appear in 'applications'

What do you mean by, they don't "appear in 'applications'?"
Are the Office applications not in the Microsoft Office 2011 folder in Applications?
Or, do the icons not show on those apps?
