Applet Client Using SSL
Hi,
I want my Applet to make a secure connection to an EJB deployed on the server(Weblogic
Server 7.0). But i get the following exception..

The Applet works well in non-secure mode(using t3 instead of t3s).
The same code works as an Application(secure). Here i have to include the directory
containing the file "license.bea" in the classpath. But in case of Applet, including
the license file in the jar file doesn't help

Hi,
The issue is that to make SSL work we need to specify the bea.home property mentioning
the license_file_directory. How can this be achieved in case of Applet where the
license.bea file is not present in the client.

Problem in Authenticating Clients using SSL certificates in EP 7.0
Hi all,
Our team is configuring client authentication using ssl certificates to Enterprise Portal 7.0. We have exhausted our search on SDN and have also brought SAP on board to resolve this issue.
We have completed our configuration as defined in following links

and SAP note 583439.
But once a client types in the portal URL a message is shown that your certificate will be mapped to your user. Although we have manually mapped our certificate to a particular user but every time it asks for user ID and password.
So in short it dosent authenticate users on their certicates.

My example given before should work on different machines, try to export the server key and import it into the
client keystore. Export the client key and import in the server keystore if you want the server to authenticate
the client.

Applet(using SSL sockets) application in browser

I am new to this forum, and this is my first forum in this site, please help me,
My problem is,
I have done an applet application which uses the SSL sockets, and it is working fine if i use the appletviewer tool, with the arguments of policy and URL, when i run this command "appletviewer -J-Djava.security.policy=mypolicy.policy URL of my html page" in the command mode its working fine.
I have wrote HTML file for running the applet, and when i used it in the browser i was not able to get output , i was getting the error "NoTrustedCertificates found", i have setted the properties of truststore and password in the program itself like,
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", System.getProperty("java.home")+"cert");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", "pwd");
and i also used the policy tool. I have stored my certificate along with the jar file, and i was getting this error
can anyone please help me, or suggest me the right way to reach my target.

I have made my client applet running from the remote system, and the client was establishing SSL sockets, and there is a problem in Handshake, NO TRUSTED CERTIFICATE found was the error, and i had loaded the certificates ( one is used for signing the certificate, and the other is used for the SSL sockets authentication ) in my applet client code i have setted the system properties like

Is there any way to use JDK1.4PreferenceAPI in JWS + Applet clients
Dear Friends,
Actually, we are in process of reusing the J2sdk1.4 new utilities like (Preferences API ) in all the applications means Application client, Java WebStart
Client , Applet client. As for as Application client is concern , we do not have any problem at all, Its because of, J2sdk1.4 Preferences API provides an
option to Plugin our Implementation for reading and writing User Preference Information.
But Incase of JWS client or Applet client , we can not Plug in our own Preference Factory Implementation , because of some security concern. We came
to know that it is possible via setting system property -D option and signing the Jar which uses this Preference API class. But it will create more problem
for our client while using our application . So we need to use JDK1.4 Preference with out using above two methodology.
Is there any possible solution which can help me to use the JDK1.4 Preference API in all the clients????.
Please do help me as early as possible. This is very very important for us.

Thanks for your immediate reply, I had solved the problem by putting both the classes in a single signed jar. Now i am get into the new Problem. The problem is, even if i set the SystemProperty for Preference Factory, it doesn't take effect at all.
Actually what happened was, while starting the
Browser(Netscape or IE), browser will try to load all the Java classes (which includes InputMethodManager class also). This InputMethodManager class create an Object for Preference Node and use the same for getting the Preference values. In this case if i invoke My Application(Applet) from the browser, and set the System Property (For Preference Factory), it won't take effect at all. Suppose if i use Preference.userRoot() in my application, it will try to look the Java Preference Object and return the same which is not a desired one. So i would like to know, is there any mechanism to set/reset the Preference Factory (for my Application alone)???
Please help me to get out of this problem. It is very very important for me.

For example in the Online Orders sample,with an applet client (with DataForms, using dialup to connect to app. server). What happens when an user insert a new employee record. When an user navigate around the fields ocurrs a validation inside the Business Object Tier. What happens with the remote round trips?, It's faster?.

Applets by default require downloading a lot of files to the browser. So you must download your app code, the jdbc drivers and any other required classses.
Applets using BC4J components then must also download the BC4J code. BC4J uses a data cache, so data is also downloaded.
Avoid using applets in this design.
Use JavaServerPages(JSP's) (or servlets) which are a much "thinner" version of the "Thin client" group of tools(applets, servlets jsp's)
WHY JSP's over servlets ??
They are quicker to write than servlets -
As my previous question, I followed the following instructions to setup up connection between iws and an LDAP server.
"Using SSL to Communicate with LDAP
You should require your Administration Server to communicate with LDAP using SSL. To enable SSL on your Administration Server, perform the following steps:
1.Access the Administration Server and choose the Global Settings tab.
2.Click the Configure Directory Service link.

Attempting to use SSL over RMI from a web application to a RMI server

I am attempting to use SSL over RMI to a server. The client is the web
application that is hosted on WebLogic and that attempts to connect to the
server. There is no client or server verification at either the client or
the server end. The code works outside of WebLogic 7/8 but has the following

Any ideas?
ThanksI don't see anything that indicates SSL was directly a factor in the
failure.
From the exception stack it looks like a more basic connectivity issue,
maybe the URL for the
RMI server is incorrect for some reason or the server was down.
It looks like you are doing something like this:
SSL client -> WLS server with servletA, servletA RMI client
(com.hyperion.css) -> RMI server
The connection failure appears to be the connection from servletA RMI client
to the RMI server.
Is that a correct picture?

In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.
We want to connect to Oracle DB over SSL channel so that the data packets are not in clear text. Also we want the user to make a connection using user id and password.
Basically we want SSL with out authentication.

JDeveloper 10.1.2 only understands a subset of all of the complexTypes that can be defined in a WSDL document. For example, if the following appear in the "types" section of the WSDL, any use of those types will cause JDeveloper to generate a reference to UnknownType in a stub or skeleton:
• Restrictions of simpleTypes
• complexTypes which define attributes Does that mean that the jdeveloper will not support complex types?Could anybody tell me how to resolve the above said issue? Is there any patch that i can run to resolve the issue?Can i use the client generated using jdeveloper 11g to import into the oracle forms 10g, i.e., form builder 10g. Using SSL in SOAP Receiver Adapter
Hello,
We need to execute a web service that requires using SSL connection. We have done following:
1. Deployed SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit
2. Uploadted the Server certificates chain(Root, Intermediate, and the Server certficate itself) in TrustedCAs view
But I can't see the certificate from the Communication Channel screen.
Could anybody who has done this before please let us know if we are missing anything. I appreciate if anybody can tell us the trouble points/pit falls in this process.

You need to setup SSL layer for HTTPS endpoint.
Possible HTTP security levels are (in ascending order):
HTTP without SSL
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS), but without client authentication
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS) and with client authentication
HTTPS comes in two flavors, both ensuring the confidentiality of data sent over the network

Regarding message level you can encrypt the message using certificates.
For both of this basis team has to deploy the releavant certificates in XI ABAP Stack or Java stack.
Generally if the scenarios are intra company we dont use any transport level or message level security since the network is already secured.

HTTPS authentication using SSL in SOAP Sender adapter
Hi,
We are currently doing a SOAP to RFC synchronous scenario in PI 7.0. Our client wants to ensure that the data security is maintained at the transport level. So, we have planned to implement the HTTPS without client authentication using SSL certificates. Our Basis team has promised us that they will take care of the cerficate generation and installation part in the server. Now i am confused at the PI communication channel setup level.
1) Do i have to specify the certificate installed path in the channel or in any other object ? If so, where do i have to configure the path ?
2) What is the exact path that has to be carried by a PI developer once the certificates are installed in the server ?

1.for transport level security you should assign the HTTPS connection created in SM59 to the SOAP communication channel.
The HTTPS connection should use the certificates imported in t-code STRUST.
