Applet database access problems!
Hi,
I have a major problem. I'm trying to design an applet that can talk to a database server which is not the same server where the applet is hosted. I keep getting an exception like below: (note I changed my db server name)
java.sql.SQLException: Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission aaaa.bbbbb.net resolve)

Ok, I went back and re-read the answer to a similar question I asked earlier. Since I can't talk directly to the other db server, what is the work around?
Make a php page that updates the database, then call that page from within the applet?

Hello all,
I have an applet which connects to a MySQL database for user authentication. Currently I am doing on a local machine and all goes well and fine. But my problem is the same applet when accessed through a proxy the database connection wont happen. Can someone suggest a way to solve it. Or this problem is not solvable.

josephUse http to do the authentication. Have the applet make a request to the authentication server by name (not by codebase, as this is probably the source of the proxy problem). On the authentication server, you can run a servlet or cgi or whatever to contact the db.

Hi, I am new to applets and I am trying to build an applet that needs input from other files on the server. How can I give my applet access to these files? I found some code with URLConnection, but I cannot seem to make it work. I am getting AppletNotLoaded appearing on the bottom of the webpage. I am also getting errors saying that certain classes cannot be found, like point3f or anything from vecmath. Is there something to be done to fix this?
It has to be finding the applet, just not loading it because its reading through the list of imports... -
Entity Bean Database Access Problem
I have developed the CustomerBook application from the NetBeans 4.1 quick start tutorial with SJAS8.1Q2 (http://www.netbeans.org/kb/41/quickstart-j2ee.html) with MySQL. I get the following set of errors. I am new to SJAS. I've tried a lot of different things. For the life of me, I can't understand why this isn't working. I know the problem is with the entity bean accessing the database because the session bean communicates well with the client when calling the entity bean.

Database access problem in JApplet
Hi,
I have a Swing application that accesses MS Access to store, query data. This app is running absolutely fine. I'm using Sun's ODBC-JDBC bridge driver and created a DSN in Windows for this.
Now I have changed the main program (the main menu program) a bit, by coding "extends JApplet" etc. so that it can run as an Applet.
Now, while I run this, I'm able to call programs, but there seems error while it's accessing MS Access tables.
As applet is not executed from a Command Window, I'm not able to see the System.out.println () outputs. So, I don't have exact clue where is the error. (Though I know it's because of access to MS Access tables as I have coded JOptionPane for popping up a window for this).
In this regard, I needed:
1. A way to see the Console (or command window) or some way to see the outputs fom println () .
2. What I can do so that the app can access MS Access?
Any help is appreciated.

Internet Applet database access
Hi,
- Howto connect an internet-applet to a database?
+ I am thinking about using a 3 tier:
applet <---> (http port 80) <--->- appserver <---- (JDBC) ----> DB
+ on the web only port 80 I consider as available.
+ I could write a dedicated servlet which performs the DB-queries and sends the results back to the applet (for example by means of object-serializing OR flat text)
? Can it be done by means of SOAP/XML? is it fast enough? implementation tips?
? Can I use this construct also in a Swing app? (on the local network)
? Other suggestions?

Sure web services can be used here.
But to me it is not the most obvious solution in this case, based on what I've read (and build) on web services. Web services are generally used to leverage an open communication between heterogeneous applications, mostly on different sites/locations, i.e. applications that are loosely connected with each other and applications of different origin. An analogy: you would not use a database link to communicate between 2 schemas on the same database, you would use a database link between 2 different databases.
This situation does not occur here because the given application is a client intranet application talking to a local database. That's why I mentioned webforms, but a JClient application would an obvious option either.
I am not opting that you use webforms, I was giving alternative option ;-)

I tried to commit database table after locking that table in the database. As a result I got following unhandled exception.
"Could not do a physical-order read to fetch next row" .
I am using sun java creator as a developing IDE and the server is sun application server. And I'm using Informix database. Please help me on this.
Thank YouI did not find any method that I can handle to avoid raising this exception. It may be rising when it is trying to bind the data to table or combo box component in the page. I can add error page to my project. But I like to show only a mesageBox that shows "Table is Locked" on relevant page by handling the above mentioned exception. Do you know how to handle it within the project.

How can I install my CMS Repository in an Oracle Database and create a Service on the BO server as Oracle Client to the Oracle Database Server?
I am not familiar with oracle and not be able to create an oracle service name.

Please go through the above note. This is a program error. We implemented this note and it resolved our issue. But before implementing, make sure that SSL connection is set to H or G.

When trying to upload files I received the following error: "The Java Wizard cannot run. Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem."
If the problem is with a site that is hosted using MOVEit DMZ by Ipswitch, please notify the site owner of the issue and ask them to apply the patch that is available on the support site to resolve the issue.
This is a better resolution than downgrading your version of Java that was updated due to security issues. -
Problem to specify database access acount in sharepoint configuration wizard
I installed sharepoint 2013 and run configuration wizard. In the page "Specify Confguration Database Settings" and in the section "specify database access acount" I enter my domain admin account user (in DOMAIN\user_name format)
and pass and I'm sure that I enter it correct. but it say "the password specified for the username account is invalid" !!
What's the problem?
ThanksNormally that means that the password specified for the account is invalid.
Double check the account has been created in AD, that it's unlocked and that the password hasn't been configured to require changing on first use. Ideally grant the account permission to log onto a box somewhere and test it. -
RE: Database (SQL-SERVER) access problem
Have you used NT Control Panel/ ODBC to set up the ODBC data source name?
You have to define the data source (database) SecTrade as well as the
driver to be used (SQL Server). This can be done by selecting the Add
button on the Data Sources screen in Control Panel/ ODBC.

Hi Forte-Users,
We have a setup a Sql-Server database on a NT server. In the Forte
EConsole,
we have
setup a ODBC-type Resource for this server, named SERVER2_ODBC. This NT
server
is configured as a Client Node in the active Forte environment. Note
that
Server2 is not
the Forte server, but has Forte installed. There is another NT server
which
acts as the
Forte server. NODEMGR and Sql-Server are running on SERVER2.
In our application, we have a DBSession SO with the database source
as SERVER2_ODBC, Userid=ForteInstructor. When running the application,
Forte
throws an exception, the gist of it being as follows:
USER ERROR: (This error was converted)
Failed to connect to database: SecTrade, username: ForteInstructor.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no
default
driver specified
We have tried
1) Installing ODBC drivers on the NT server (Server2)
2) Accessing local databases from Forte clients which works fine
3) Accessing the Sql-Server database through Isqlw (Sql-Server Client
s/w) -
It works.
Could someone suggest what we should try to get rid of this problem?

I had no problem using a download wizard Java applet to download file to my computer from an SFTP site using Firefox. When I tried to do the same thing with Chrome, I was told to download the latest plugin. Once I did that, I receive the following message when I run the downlaod wizard:

Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem.
I got the same message using Firefox and Chrome. However, I have no problem using IE to run the same download wizzard. Please help.If the problem is with a site that is hosted using MOVEit DMZ by Ipswitch, please notify the site owner of the issue and ask them to apply the patch that is available on the support site to resolve the issue.
This is a better resolution than downgrading your version of Java that was updated due to security issues. -
Database access... what is the best approach
in a nutshell...
i have an applet that needs to access three data bases... currently i have it written and completed and working but the lag time on the database access is really slow so i am questioning my approach to the problem...
as a buisness rule we wanted to create classes to access the data through accessor mehtods from applications and appletts therfore standardizing our field name conventions, our methods and so on and so on...
so when the applett runs it creates an object for each class that access the database... when the user enters a valid "parcel number" the parcel is passed to the first class and the record is retrieved for database "A" and then it is passed to the next class and the supporting records are retrieved for data base "B" and it repeats the same concept for database "C".. so now i have the applet running and accessing the data through accessor methods through those objects...
each class makes the conection to the data base.. issues the sql, stores the results and closes the connection
i'll admit i am somewhat new to the java envirnoment so any help on concepts and approach would be most appreciated and useful
does this approach seem reasonable or am i letting my 15 years of procedural thinking get the best of me...
what would be the most effiecent way of doing this?
how much of a performance gain would i see if i threaded each one out on it's own thread and how would i do that?
the end product is going to be a county taxation system using browser technology as an inquiry system for public and general use and an application environment for inhouse data entry and use
creating seperate classes for each of the data basses seems ideal for what we want to do but maybe it is counterproductive considering the lag times.
i am using JDBC against an HP3000 image DataBaseWith the information given that is the only possible approach.
You could provide a middle layer which would then handle some of the interactions for you. For instance by keeping a connection pool.
Additionally if your databases are not actually distributed (and the same vendor) then you could do most of the work in a stored procedure. You could also do this if some of the data is relatively static and by using a server side replication process. -
Regarding Provisioning a user to Database Access Tables
Hi,
I've just completed with the installation of OIM 9101 and upgradation of 9101 to 9102. I'm facing a bit wierd. When I try to create a GTC for the Database Access Tables, I'm not able to see Database Access Tables option, in the drop down list for the Transport Provider.
I'm a bit confused if I've wrongly upgraded the system or if at all i've missed out some step. Though OIM seems to be ok and working fine.
Any suggestions as to how to solve this ?

This Error seems to occur because I was trying to attach certain pre-prop adapters within the default process form that is created while installing the connector. Roaming around the threads here, I came to know that this might be the problem as pre-props don't work fine when applied to the GTC's default form.
To overcome this problem, I've thought of a solution wherein I should create a new Custom Process Form and then apply my pre-props. But for this approach, I'm stuck into the middle. How can I apply a new Custom Form to an existing Provisioning Process ? Is this fesiable ? If yes, where should the changes be made ?
I tried changing the Table Name inside the GTC's provisioning process so that GTC can pick up the my new process form instead of its default process form, but that again gives an error saying :

I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:
Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5.
My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

SVI just counted the columns from the top:

I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.
I don't know anything about cubes, but apparently there is some mapping problem when you run it from SSAS. (I assume it is SSAS, a part of the product I'm entirely ignorant of.) I figured that if you had got tripped by the zero-based numbering, you
might be staring on the wrong column.
