I have the same problem. In the contrived example below my applet will only work if the EL statement #{row.email} actually gets resolved to the database value, but at the moment the EL text is what is ending up in the applet parameter value. Any further assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

sortable="false" sortProperty="email"
binding="#{backing_deptEmp.column2}" id="column2">
<af:outputText value="#{row.email}"
binding="#{backing_deptEmp.outputText2}"
id="outputText2"/>

  • Reading Applet Parameters

    Hello,
    this may appear to be stupid question but I need a solution anyway. My problem consists of two parts:
    Part1:
    Applet-Parameters which are set in the HTML-Applet Tag in
    <param name="name" value="value"> are read from within the applet by using getParameter("name"). The documentation says that a String is returned.
    Part2:
    When I want to set the text of a JTextArea I use the setText("someText") method. If I set the text by setText("Test\nTest") the Text is set with two lines each containing one "Test" (this is what the \n is for) like this:
    Test
    Test
    Now if I do the same by using setText(getParameter("name")) and the "name" parameter's value is "Test\nTest" my Text will exactly appear as
    "Test\nTest"
    in the Textarea.
    Does anyone know of this problem?

    Yeah this is a possiblity I have thought of as well. But this appears to me to be a Java bug, because a String is a String, right? And if I do a setText("someString") it should always behave the same way, no matter where the string comes from, whether read from an applet-parameter or whatever. It's a bit strange.
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

  • Rewriting java applet parameters

    I am attempting to get a java applet to work through the portal. Of
    course it
    does not work "out of the box" The applet is a menuing applet and it
    gets is
    text for the menu options (and the associated links) from the applet
    parameters. I have read the documentation for this and, in typical Portal
    Server documentation fashion, it has been less than helpful.
    Here are the details: The asp page that loads the applet is loaded from
    /menu/menu.asp Here is the HTML that loads applet and sets some of the
    parameters:
    <td><APPLET name='1' code='imgMenu.class'
    codebase='class/'height='17' width='124' id=Applet1>
    <param name='xloc' value='0'>
    <param name='yloc' value='17'>
    <param name='upimage' value='/menu/images/bbusinessunit.gif'>
    <param name='placement' value='right'>
    <param name="item1" value="0|ACT - Alaska Consolidated Team">
    <param name="item2" value="1|ACT Home">
    <param name="URL2" value="http://alaska.somewhere.com/act|_top">
    <param name="item3" value="1|ACT Badami">
    <param name="URL3" value="http://alaska.somewhere.com/cns_badami|_top">
    <param name="item4" value="1|ACT Endicott">
    I configured the rewriter like this:
    /menu/menu.asp imgMenu.class upimage
    /menu/menu.asp imgMenu.class URL*
    so that the upimage parameter would be rewritten as well ad the URL*
    parameters (there are URL1 all the way to URL53). This does not work.
    Has anyone gotten the Java applet paremeters rewriting working? If so,
    what I am I missing?

    sig and J.C. Westin-
    I used the Adobe Flash UNinstaller, and then installed Adobe Flash Player v10.0.12.10. No improvement/it did not correct the problem. Power E*Trade Pro (a Java Applet) still won't start properly (since Apple Software Update installed Java Release 7).
    I even did all the Repair Permissions steps before and after Flash UNinstal/reinstall (suggested by J.C. Westin; even though they did seem somewhat excessive; Note: all permissions were set properly before installing; Permissions DID need repair AFTER installing Flash; guess that Adobe doesn't get the permissions right in it's own installer!).
    To be honest, I did not really place much hope in solving the problem via an update to a BETA version of Flash. The problem occurred when I updated Java (per Apple's Software Update), not when doing anything with Flash. More to the point, I don't believe the Java applet that's having problems now uses Flash at all. Placing hope in a Flash BETA seemed to me like being told to replace my brake fluid after complaining the engine wasn't running.
    I'm (still) looking for a (non-draconian) way of reverting back to Java Release 6. Someone has to have some steps for trashing specific files/binaries to Remove Java Release 7, then installing the full Java Release 6 anew. Please? Anyone? Trashing the entire OS then performing a clean install is a huge amount of work. I just need to trash Java Release 7.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help here.

  • Applet failed problem

    Hi!
    Im new to working with Java applets. I am going to describe my problem with the applet I have written and all the circumstances of it because maybe I have missed out some little detail that somebody can point out.
    So, I was given the assignment of modifying my Professor's applet a little bit. The structure of the code was class example1 extends class table extends class BufferedApplet. I made the changes to the applet using Netbeans IDE 4.1. So the applet runs perfectly in the applet viewer, and the HTML page created by the netbeans on running the example1.java code also works fine if I open it from the build folder using firefox, or explorer.
    So I thought, great, I got my assignment done. We must post the applet on our website for it to get graded. So I uploaded the example1.class file and the example1.html file to the same directory on the webpage. I added table.class and BufferedApplet.class as well, just to be safe. All three source files are also in the same directory, coz we have to provide links to them for the assignment.
    Now, when I open the webpage, it wont display the applet. It shows me a white box with a red cross in the top left corner and gives me the message "loading java applet failed". sometimes, there are variations like "example not inited" or "java.lang.NullPointerException"... • Applet socket problem in client-server, urgent!

    Dear All:
    I have implemented a client server teamwork environment. I have managered to get the server running fine. The server is responsible for passing messages between clients and accessing Oracle database using JDBC. The client is a Java Applet. The code is like the following. The problem is when I try to register the client, the socket connection get java.security.AccessControlException: access denied(java.net.SocketPermission mugca.its.monash.edu.
    au resolve)
    However, I have written a Java application with the same socket connection method to connect to the same server, it connects to the server without any problem. Is it because of the applet security problem? How should I solve it? Very appreciate for any ideas.
    public class User extends java.applet.Applet implements ActionListener, ItemListener
    public void init()
    Authentication auth = new Authentication((Frame)anchorpoint);
    if(auth.getConnectionStreams() != null) {
    ConnectionStreams server_conn = auth.getConnectionStreams();
    // Authenticates the user and establishes a connection to the server
    class Authentication extends Dialog implements ActionListener, KeyListener {
    // Object holding information relevant to the server connection
    ConnectionStreams server_conn;
    final static int port = 6012;
    // Authenticates the user and establishes connection to the server
    public Authentication(Frame parent) {
    // call the class Dialog's constructor
    super(parent, "User Authentication", true);
    setLocation(parent.getSize().width/3, parent.getSize().height/2);
    setupDialog();
    // sets up the components of the dialog box
    private void setupDialog() {
    // create and set the layout manager
    //Create a username text field here
    //Create a password text field here
    //Create a OK button here
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    authenticateUser();
    dispose();
    // returns the ConnectionStreams object
    public ConnectionStreams getConnectionStreams() {
    return(server_conn);
    // authenticates the user
    private void authenticateUser() {
    Socket socket;
    InetAddress address;
    try {
    // open socket to server
    System.out.println("Ready to connect to server on: " + port);
    socket = new Socket("mugca.its.monash.edu.au", port);
    address = socket.getInetAddress();
    System.out.println("The hostname,address,hostaddress,localhost is:" + address.getHostName() + ";\n" +
    address.getAddress() + ";\n" +
    address.getHostAddress() + ";\n" +
    address.getLocalHost());
    catch(Exception e) {
    displayMessage("Error occured. See console");
    System.err.println(e);
                                  e.printStackTrace();
    }

    Hi, there:
    Thanks for the help. But I don't have to configure the security policy. Instead, inspired by a message in this forum, I simply upload the applet to the HTTP server (mugca.its.monash.edu.au) where my won server is running. Then the applet is download from the server and running fine in my local machine.

    Applet running problem in ie 6.0 under Windows XP
    I have a PC running Iternet Explorer 6.0 running under Windows XP. I have developed an applet using JDK 1.3 which is running fine with applet viewer , but it is not running in ie. I have installed Netscape navigator and Opera 5. the applet is running fine in both of these browsers but somehow it is not running in IE.
    Later on I upgraded my JDK to 1.4. It also displays use Java2 (V1.4.1) for <applet> (requires restart) tck marked in Advance section under Tools-Options menu of IE.
    I have also tried and set various options in my Control Panels Java Plug-in but all in vain. I have searched the sites for this solution but no one answers specifically.
    I know its a small problem due to discarded JVM in IE under Windows XP but give me solution for that.

The flash app does not work as it is supposed to when the applet is present in the Parent HTML page. When I removed the applet, the flash app seems to work ok. But the applcation that I am working needs both of them together. Plz suggest me a solution if you know of any flash and applet related problems.

  • Opening and closing a frame from an applet security problem

    can I open a frame or a window from an applet and close the frame by using
    System.exit(0) for the frame or will it throw a security problem.

    I am using system.exit(0) to exit the JVM.
    dispose()
    Releases all of the native screen resources used by this Window, its subcomponents, and all of its owned children. That is, the resources for these Components will be destroyed, any memory they consume will be returned to the OS, and they will be marked as undisplayable.
    If this frame have to be close and open again don't use dispose.
    there is no check whether a frame is active? what you can do is set the the new frame to null (frame = null) and also when you dispose it, this will let you know if the frame is active or not.

  • Need help with applet related problems

    First of all hello to everyone. I'm new to this forum. I usually can solve my problems google-ing around, but this time I just ran out of ideas.
    I'm trying to develop a jni applet that can run native code for performance. I used netbeans so far and the applet works great when run from within the ide. At some point a managed to make the applet run inside firefox and iexplore, however somehow i screwed something up and now i can't make it run anymore. I don't really know what i did but i think it may be related to these lines in the console since everything up until awt works fine in the applet:
    basic: JNLP2ClassLoader.findLibrary: Looking up native library: jawt.dll
    network: Looking up native library in: C:\Users\Gladiator\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\10\1082924a-7851bf5e-n\jawt.dll
    basic: Native library jawt.dll not found
    Ofc i may be wrong.
    This also my be a local problem because a friend of mine tried the applet himself and said it's working.
    All the jars are selfsigned.
    below i posted the console output in case you want to take a look. Also I am interested about the "try again.." messages that seem to pop over and over again.

    I am sorry for bold, i came here to ask for help. I used bold to differentiate output from my questions since i couldn't find tags.
    I already validated jnlp using JaNeLA and got only optimization suggestions.
    As I said in first post, this works for a friend of mine, so it's possible a local issue with my java or something ...
    Also i reinstalled jre/jdk 7.0, then uninstalled and installed latest jre/jdk 6.
    Hope I didn't leave a bad impression, i just want help.

  • Z77A-GD65 mixing two DDRAM pack, same brand with same parameters problem

    Hello. I have question. My mobo is z77a-gd65. I have 16gb of ram. Is it pack of 4x4gb modules from corsair vengeance lp (CML16GX3M4A1600C9). Because one module is damaged (tested in memtest) i buy new pack. This new pack is absolutely the same as previous but only 8gb (2x4gb). Is it same brand and timings (CML8GX3M2A1600C9). My problem is.. i can not enable the xmp profile in bios. This option is not accesible if i use 2x2gb from first pack and 2x2gb from second pack. Next problem.. if i change the ddram frequency  manually to 1600mhz (from 1333 - detected whith bios) which is default fq after save settings and restart, bios automatically set frequency to 1333. I try use oc genie but the same and no luck.
    Is not possible use two different memory pack from one brand with absolutely same parameters? Why i cant use and is disabled xmp option? Why bios automatically changing ddram frequency?
    Thanks.

    Corsair warns of mixing RAM even with the same exact part numbers. Best thing to do would be to contact Corsair and ask them to replace what you have with a factory matched and tested RAM kit. I have heard they are very good about doing that for the end user.

  • Query Parameters Problem

    Please excuse the formatting as I am not sure why the forum is bunching everything together and not putting my query in code format.
    Hi All,
    We are using SAP B1 2007 A SP01 PL05
    I am having a problem with getting a query to run in SAP with parameter selections.  The query below runs fine as is however once I add date parameters which look like this
    AND T2.[DocDate] >= '[%0]' AND T2.[DocDate] <= '[%1]'
    I start getting errors.  The first error I got was RIGHT.CardCode could not be bound once I removed the parameter and added them again I got an error Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string.  I then removed the parameters again and added them once more and got another error An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected.  I saved the query and logged out and logged back in and ran it again and now am getting the error RIGHT.CardCode could not be bound again.
    Could someone please have a look at this and try and help me get this running as I want to add more parameters where you can select the Customer Group and the Item Group as well.

    Sometimes SBO does not manage correctly variables in complicated queries and there is a note about the workaround to solve the problem:[Note730960|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=730960]

  • Java 1.5_13 applet loading problem due to 'activate control' fix

    I updated my JRE to Java 1.5 revision 13, and it seems to introduce a new problem. In order to fix the "click here to activate this control" problem in internet explorer, I iterate the document model and set the outerHTML of the applet tag to the same outerHTML. This removes the annoying rectangle in IE. This also causes the applet to load and break down the first time the page is displayed, because IE removes the old applet instance and creates a new one when replacing the outerHTML. When this happens on the new Java JRE release, an exception is thrown to the user saying:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    The applet loads correctly, but the message should not be displayed. Also, it only seems to happen sometimes (maybee because sometimes the applet does not yet start before IE runs the script to replace its contents)

    Does anyone know how to fix this new issue? Or does anyone know of a better way to solve the 'activate control' problem in IE that does not cause the reloading of this applet?
    Thanks.

    Hi!
    *1 -* Poor_Sitar_player's solution that i used.
    a - Build the applet's comented code into a div ...
    </div id='555>
    <!--
    <body>
    <applet name="EditoRTFa.class" id='editor' archive="../pages/expediente/Modelo/Editor/EditoRTFa.jar"
    code="br.gov.pa.tj.processo.expediente.casos.editor.EditoRTFa.class" width="750" height="550">
    </applet>
    <body>
    -->
    </div>
    b - After, insert a javascript the will remove the coments....
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var x = document.getElementById('555');
    var texto = x.innerHTML;
    texto = texto.replace('<!--','').replace('-->','');
    x.innerHTML = texto;
    <script type="text/javascript">
    *2 - Another solution*
    If you are using struts2 or your applet is inside a internal frame, is possible that the above solution will not work.
    So, the solution that i found was place the applet code in the main page, with width and heigh iguals "*0*" and style="float: left;" to hide the applet.
    This way, the applet will be load before you call the right page.
    That's all.

  • Applet display problem in 1.4.2_10

    I recently upgraded JRE from 1.4.2_07 to 1.4.2_10 and my applet page refresh got screwed up. Sometimes when the page with the applet is refreshed, the applet is not displayed. It is loaded for sure but not displayed.
    If we switch back to some window and come back to this page again, it shows up !!! or just hit enter on the address bar it shows up !!! ...
    Anyone facing the same problem? It would be great if someone could help me one this ...
    -arrow

    try dis one:
    http://v8doc.sas.com/sashtml/
    the option bar in the menu in the left frame disappears; but it shows up shortly when refreshing continously or back/forward on the browser rapidly - this sounds like your problem as well?
    It might have to do with the recent MS patches (released April 11th) that fix some issues within ActiveX; double clicking the script window then does the trick?
