Applet start() not called in multithreaded use, when using JAVA1.5

Hi ALL,
I am facing problem such that,
applet start() is not getting called in multithreaded use, when I am using JAVA1.5 for jdk(<=1.4)versions.
If , I give explicit call to applet.start() inside applet.init() , the applet is loaded, else it hangs.
code snippet.
init()
//Created thread
thr = new inputthread();
//some other tasks
start()
boolean x= true;
generate()
{

And it's the same behaviour in JRE 1.5 update 8 as well.

  • Applet does not load on app server when Free Design Layout

    Hi,
    I have to embed a an applet in a webpage of an web application. Before I go on to anything.. let me first tell you, I am using Netbeans 6.0
    As shown in the tuorial:
    [http://www.netbeans.org/kb/articles/tutorial-applets-40.html]
    1. I first made the "Applet" source say HelloApplet. java. After compiling and running it I get the HelloApplet.jar.
    2. I created a WebApplication and then from the properties -> packaging -> I "Add Project" HelloApplet.jar.
    3. Then I a webpage I "embeded" the applet.
    4. I run the web app and the applet gets loaded and everything is just fine.
    But before I go on I must tell you that the applet was designed in Null Layout. Now I edited the applet source once again and changed the layout to Free Design Layout*. ( this is available from Netbeans..on the HelloApplet.java .. go to the design view.. right click on the form and from the context menu you can change the layout to FreeDesign or whatever you might want).
    When I expand the "Libraries" node I see the that the library Swing Layout Extensions - swing-layout-1.0.3.jar has been added.
    When I "run" the "HelloApplet.java" file, the applet is shown in the appletviewer. No problems with that.
    But!
    When I try to Clean & Build and Run the WebApplication, the applet does not get loaded. On inspecting the java console I see the following error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdesktop/layout/GroupLayout$Group
    at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Unknown Source)

    at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
    ... 10 moreIt clearly shows that the Free Design Layout has something to do with the GroupLayout which can be found by expanding the "Swing Layout Extensions - swing-layout-1.0.3.jar". Now when the HelloApplet.jar is created only the HelloApplet.class file gets included together with some other data but NOT the swing extensions. Hence when I run the web app the class file looks for the GroupLayout.class definition but can find it in the jar as its not included when the HelloApplet.jar is created.
    But with null layout there isint a problem because null layout takes the definitions from the JRE on the machine.. and so it runs without a hitch.
    My Question is : How can I run the applet with Free Design Layout? or is it possible to package the swing layout extensions in the HelloApplet.jar?<</u>
    Thanks for all your replies.
    Cheers.

  • Firefox does not start (not even safemode) but uses CPU

    I have the latest Firefox 25.0 (and latest Flash 11.9.900.117) on Windows 7 and the following behavior is reproducible. This started not too long ago.
    At first when I start Firefox nothing appears no matter how often I restart. However, in the process list I see firefox.exe at 25% CPU, 2x FlashPlayerPlugin_11_9_900_117.exe (0% CPU) and plugincontainer.exe. No matter how often I kill all of them, Firefox wouldn't restart.
    The following does also not help in this situation:
    * Starting in normal Safemode: Firefox opens up a Window but freezes immediately and does not respond. The process list shows the the same processes even though I find FlashPlayer unexpected.
    * Disable plugincontainer: Same results (just without plugincontainer.exe)
    * Deinstall Flash: Same results (just without FlashPlayerPlugin)
    The following can start Firefox once only:
    * Starting in Safemode but select "Reset Firefox": Firefox won't start right away, though. Nothing happens and you have to kill the processes. However the very next time you start Firefox the normal way, it works fine (but it shows FlashPlayerPlugin.exe in the Windows process list despite not Tab being open). Unfortunately, after closing Firefox the processes (Firefox, FlashPlayerPlugin) are not removed. I kill them and the trouble with Firefox not starting reappears again.

    I'm afraid not. As soon as I reset, Firefox disappears however two new FlashPlayerPlugin.exe processes start. Those together with firefox.exe remain as background processes and above cycle is the same.
    There is one difference between resetting in safemode-startup (Shift clicking while startup and chosing "Reset") and resetting from the Troubleshooting menu: Only the former allows for a subsequent single normal start (after killing the first attempt as described above).
    PS: My extensions did not get lost. Does that mean the "Reset" actually crashed? Also I'm using Sync.
    PPS: I've tried disabling all Plugins (Flash etc.). Now when I close Firefox, FlashPlayerPlugin does not remain as a process, however firefox.exe does at 25% CPU. And when I try to restart Firefox, I again get two FlashPlayerPlugin processes with all the above symptoms (Plugins remain disabled in the configuration). This plugin is probably not the cause as I also tried deinstalling it, but it may give an indication where Firefox gets stuck.

  • "start" not called for Custom Login Command

    Hello,
    I'm working on getting acegi to handle the authentication instead of the app server. So I extended AppServerLoginCommand and overrode doAuthenticate and "start". But "start" never seems to get called; neither during initialization of the server nor before or after doAuthenticate is called. Note that doAuthenticate *does* get called, so BlazeDS does know about my custom command. I tried implementing just LoginCommand instead of extending AppServerLoginCommand but the same result.
    The reason I need start is because I want to grab the WebApplicationContext and from there get the authenticationManager bean so that doAuthentication can do its job.
    I noticed that "stop" never gets called either.
    Any pointers or clues would be appreciated.
    /r

    I looked through the source code and as best I can tell "start" never gets called for LoginCommand. This is, by no means, a certainty since I only partially followed the stack trace and looked at the source near the place where the LoginCommand gets created, so there may be another point in the lifecycle where start gets called. But anyway, if you look at the file at:
    http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/blazeds/trunk/modules/core/src/java/flex/messag ing/config/MessagingConfiguration.java
    near
    private LoginCommand initLoginCommand(LoginCommandSettings loginCommandSettings)
    you'll notice that the LoginCommand gets created but start is not called.

    I was using Gdm as login manager and networkmanager + nm-applet to manage the network. I just switched to Slim. But after that, nm-applet will not start automatically upon the login. Here is rc.conf looks like,

    Ok. I figured it out. I was running nm-applet& command after exec gnome-session command. I put it before that and it started working. But I still need to say "sudo nm-applet&".
    Now nm-applet is starting fine. But it is not remembering the password for the wireless connection. This is the message appearing when I start it.

    All these were working fine with Gdm. I am not sure about getting this correct with Slim.  I have done the setting changes described in http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SLi … me_Keyring page. Here is my /etc/pam.d/slim file looks like.

    You could try a SMC reset:

    If no change, do what Allan advises.

    Chances are, you have already tried this and already know the answer.
    But, if not....sorry, but no......since your printer is not AirPrint compatible, you must use the extra software workaround in the Mac.
    A newer AirPrint printer would allow you to do what you want.

  • Applet does not load in IE when hosted in form via SHDocVw.dll

    Hi
    I have a signed applet that usually works well in IE and Mozilla FireFox.
    It shows a popup window with the security question Yes/No/Always and works great thereafter.
    However
    We have now developed a Vb.Net application which hosts the SHDocVw.dll and now when for example I navigate to the web page within this embedded browser control from Microsoft the applet does not load and the popup window does not appear, when trying to access it via clientside scriptring it does not find the applet object.
    // this fails when called from embedded browser control
    <script>
    document.applets[0].prepareControl();
    </script>
    Please help me I would really like to get the applet to work when using this new vb.net application with the embedded browser control because it is becoming our company's standard to hos apps in this new app and not open a new instance of IE for each application.
    Thanks

    What does the trace say?
    To turn the full trace on (windows) you can start the java console, to be found here:
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4...\bin\jpicpl32.exe
    In the advanced tab you can fill in something for runtime parameters fill in this:
    -Djavaplugin.trace=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
    if you cannot start the java console check here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
    I think for linux this is somewhere in youruserdir/java (hidden directory)
    add or change the following line:
    javaplugin.jre.params=-Djavaplugin.trace\=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option\=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
    for 1.5:
    deployment.javapi.jre.1.5.0.args=-Djavaplugin.trace\=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option\=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
    The trace is here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your user\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\log\plugin...log
    I think for linux this is somewhere in youruserdir/java (hidden directory)
    Print out the full trace of the exception:
    try{...}catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
    If no trace is created my guess is that the jre is never started, try the <object tag
    instead for your applet (html page) because your browser tries to run the applet with msjvm.

  • How to use "Start synchronous Call" to run a subVi and keep timeout event in Main vi still running?

    Hi, All
    I have a application need periodically check an instrument status and I put it in the "Timeout Event" in main vi. I also need call some subVis for configuration etc. Somehow when I called those subvi, the Timeout event in my main vi was not running. Then I use " Start Asynchronous Call" function to call the subVis. Turns out it works fine with some subvis without return value, but not as expected with "return value-needed" subvis.
    I attached a simple test, my main vi call two dlg subvis: AboutDlg.vi and SettingsDlg.vi. In the timeout event, I just use a counter for simulation. When you run it, you can see the counter keep counting when the AboutDlg.vi was called, but stopped when SettingsDlg.vi was called.
    As I remembered, someone suggested to use Queue to pass return value, but I don't know how to implement it here.
    Anyone has any suggestions about it?
    Thank you very much.

    Try playing with this - I have modified  your code to poke a Q in there.
    You will want to change the clusters to more useful datatypes (maybe enum and variant so you can unbundle variants depending on enum input), you will want to type def the clusters to make it easier to maintain and you will NEED to handle the sitaution where the called VI is left open on program close - i couldn't be bothered as this was not your immediate issue)
    Hope this give you some Ideas - totalyy untested but should work.

  • Java Applets do not run when UAC is enabled on Windows 7

    HI,
    I'm deploying Java 6.0_26-b03+ on Windows 7 and experiencing following problem:
    Java applets do not run as standard domain users in Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 when UAC is enabled (i.E. http://www.java.com/de/download/installed.jsp). When logged on as Administrator or start IE9 as Administrator java applets do run.
    If I diable UAC an log on as normal user then applets do run. Applets then still run if UAC is re-enabled again. It seems that UAC needs to be disabled for the Java Plug-In to register something in user context (assumption). If this registration happended Java applets do run also for standard Windows 7 users if UAC is enabled.
    Since we're planning a corporate Windows 7 rollout (>800PCs) we cannot do this manually on every computer. Ther must be any solution for this problem.
    Does anybody have the same problem and has already found a solution?

    Since we're planning a corporate Windows 7 rollout (>800PCs) we cannot do this manually on every computer. Ther must be any solution for this problem.If you're doing a corporate rollout of that size then surely you're just making an image of the desired configuration and just duplicating it onto the 800 PCs? In which case you would just configure IE appropriately as part of the image.
    Or alternatively you are manually configuring each of the 800 PCs, in which case this would be just one more thing in the checklist.

  • ISE Not Identifying AD Group Attributes when using Multiple ISE Servers

    So we have multiple ISE Servers with differing personas. I was having an issue with our new ISE setup not identifying AD Group Attributes when using them in Authorization rules.
    We have 2- 3395 appliances running Admin and Monitoring/Troubleshooting Personas and 2- 3395 appliances running as Policy server personas. We are running  v1.1.1.268 with the latest two patches.
    I was unable to pull Active Directory Group Attributes in any of my Authorization rules. After Resyncing all the boxes with the Primary Administration box I was able to do this. There is no bug listings for this occurance nor do we have Smartnet to call support for other reasons. I thought this might be useful to someone who is having the same issue and is unable to figure it out with TAC

    Absolutely. All units said in-sync after setting their personas.
    Here is our layout:
    ISE-ADM-01  Admin-Primary, Monitoring-Secondary
    ISE-ADM-02  Admin-Secondary, Monitoring-Primary
    ISE-PDP-01  Policy Only
    ISE-PDP-02  Policy Only
    I synced one at a time starting with ADM-02. After completing the other two boxes. Active Directory Attribs were pulled down when using them in the Ext Group within my Authz rules.
