Applets are Still Alive!!!

It is weekend and we all need some rest from the work we have or haven't done. Here ( http://www.davidgilmour.com ) is a nice example that applets are still alive and great music too. Okay, for more than 30 years I'm the biggest fan of Ping Floyd and David Gilmour anyway. Enjoy!

Hello,
You may want to try issuing
java -cp weblogic.jar weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username
system -password pwd DESTROY_POOL MyPool true
command before server shutdown.

  • With 10.5.7 the MDP-to-DVI-Adapter problems are still alive!!!

    I can't believe it. After more than a half year the problems with external displays (that are not Apple Cinema Displays) connected through a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI-Adapter are still alive.
    All that unacceptable screen flickering and wobbling is not fixed!
    <ironic>I know we all should buy Cinema Displays...</ironic>
    Be ashamed, Apple!

    +1 on this issue.
    Just tried it here and i still can't connect my MBP 15" U on the Dell 2408WFP via DVI on full resolution (1920x1200 60Hz).
    it only works at miserable 800x600 75Hz.
    What can we do? Apple should replace this faulty macs for ones that work (even if its the big 17")...

  • Folio data build by prerelease version are still alive?

    In my publication portal (DPS Dashboard), there are only 2011 July, August, September and November issue.
    My 2011 February, May, April, March and June issue (build by prerelease version) are still downloadble in my branded viewer.
    All of them are free.
    If I want to deleate the folios build by prerelease version, how do I deleate them?
    My understanding that the folios build by prerelease version are still alive is correct?

    Folios built with the prerelease Content Bundler don't show up in the Folio Producer. To delete them, you need to use the Content Bundler. I believe it's still available on the old prerelease site.

  • Mac OS X takes very long to shut down because processes are still alive

    Hello everyone!
    Since the latest update to Safari 5.0.1, iTunes 9.2.1 and Trackpad Update, the system takes unusual long to shut down.
    The screen gets the usual blue, a spinning wheel appears and is there for about 20-30 seconds.
    Before the updates, it was about 5-10 seconds.
    When booting in verbose mode, it tells me at shutdown that some core system processes (among them launchd and other boot stuff) are still alive (or, as the OS says, "PID XXXX is still alive").
    The only thing to workaround (which isn't the solution for forever!) is to run "sudo shutdown -s 0" on the console.
    Is there a way to avoid this waiting for still-alive processes?
    Thanks in advance!

    I have just restored my hard drive and now I too have this same situation. Have you been able to resolve it. If so would you be good enough to tell me how.
    Cheers,

  • Chart builder finish but some threads are still alive ?!?!?!?

    Hello all,
    I'm using oracle chart builder for presenting data in my
    application. I use it after supplying its data for gif file
    generation. The chart is stacked bar but I don't think this is the
    problem.
    The problem is that it generates the gif file successfully but my
    application is still running after the main method is finished, I
    debugged it and I found about three threads are up:
    Thread[AWT-EventQueue-0]
    Thread[SunToolkit.PostEventQueue-0]
    Thread[AWT-Windows]
    I doubted my code - but I'm taking it copy paste from developer's
    guide - and I debugged another Java file from a sample that comes with
    the kit and the same problem happened ?!?!?
    Does anyone know y?
    I saw lots of SunToolkit.PostEventQueue-0 & AWT-EventQueue-0 problems, but I don't find matching my situation, nearly some mentioned problem in native threads or something, but I think the problem is related to AWT more
    I used in testing both Oracle JDeveloper 9i release 3, and IBM
    WebSphere Studio Application Developer 4.0.3 ( both JDK 1.3)

  • Apple TV - Lost movies on Itunes -But they are still on Applet TV.

    I have a 500g Iomega USB 2.0 external HD with all my media on it and it died on me. Luckily I had about 80% of my media backed up. I noticed however, that all my recent purchases (that are missing on iTunes) are still on my Applet TV. The only thing is, is that I can't figure out how to transfer the movies from my Apple TV back to my iTunes?
    Any suggestions?

  • How to tell embedded jinitator applet is still running when window closed

    Hello, we are trying to accomplish the same thing that is mentioned in this post from Metalink. I've searched for a solution and hope someone here can help. Instead of restating the issue I think David Wilson does a good job of explaining what is needed. Can anyone please suggest a possible solution?

    How to tell embedded jinitator applet is still running when window closed
    Hi,
    We run an oracle 10g forms application through 9iAS over an intranet. All users are running windows 2000 professional.
    We run separate frame = true but I would like to switch to separate frame = false
    With separate frame = true if the user clicks the outer windows "X" close button (forms mdi window) the user is prompted to save changes before the application ends.
    BUT
    when using separate frame = false
    If the user clicks the upper window "X" button (no longer form mdi window but regular browser window) the window and application is abruptly closed.
    I'm interested in using a onbeforeunload function to confirm if the user wants to close the window. This would be placed in the basejini.htm file. This could always ask if the user wants to exit or not. If they click OK then the window closes but if they click "Cancel" you are returned to the forms application exactly where you left. something like event.returnvalue="do you really want to exit?";
    However if the user exited using the normal exit form method then the applet is already closed before the onbeforeunoad event fires and there is nothing to go back to and I want the window to close automatically. This is accomplished using close.html file in post forms trigger.
    So what I want and what I think many may also want is the check if the embedded applet is still running and if so prompt the user to return to the application or continue to close. Of course If the applet is no longer running then just close because there is no reason confirm closing anymore.
    Does anyone have a html/JavaScript solution that can be placed in the jinitiator.htm file? or similar?
    Thank you

    I don't know if this is exactly what you are after but you can add the following to the top of your basejini.htm file and it should prompt the user before exiting the IE window.
    <BODY %HTMLbodyAttrs%>
    %HTMLbeforeForm%
    <SCRIPT>
    <!--
    window.onbeforeunload = unloadApplet;
    function unloadApplet(){
    message = "Warning! Please exit the Java Applet prior to
    exiting the browser"
    return message;
    //-->
    </SCRIPT>

    Well I could not understand your complete requirement.
    Refer to Note.201481.1 How to Close the Browser Window When Closing Forms And How to Simulate SeparateFrame By Javascript

    Kind Regards,

    Subject: Re : How to tell embedded jinitator applet is still running when window closed
    Thank you for your reply and yes you did not understand my question fully.
    Sorry if this is a long reply
    I am able to close the browser window using information in notes 115905.1 and 201481.1, this is not the issue. We implemented this several years ago. It is workable for both separate frame = true or false.
    It is most important to not allow the user to end their forms application by closing the windows browser, they must close using normal form exit commands.
    What I want is to have separate frame = false, the big drawback to this option is the user can exit the application and bypass all forms code by pressing the windows "X" close button. This is why we need the code as just provided by Andrew Lenton above in this thread.
    BUT Andrew's code will always prompt the user before closing the window and I do not want that. I want the user to be prompted only under scenario 2 listed below.
    Here's the 2 case scenario for exiting the application.
    1. If the user closes properly and uses exit form which fires all normal form triggers including post_form with it's call to close.html file.
    All uncommitted changes are saved or rollback and the users session is ended normally both on the database and in the application server.
    All browser windows will close, great all is good. And without Andrew's code the window will close but with Andrew's code the user will be prompted to close or not, if they select Cancel the window will remain but the applet has already ended so why prompt? ...This is what I want to avoid.
    2. In the forms app. if the user clicks the windows "X" close button with uncommitted changes. The browser just closes the changes are rollback without prompting the user to save. The users sessions are now lost and still running in the database and application server until they are timed out.
    If I use Andrew's code then the user will be prompted to continue to close or go back, if they click Cancel to go back then focus returns to the forms application and the user can continue to work. If the user clicks OK then the window closes and unfortunately their sessions are still lost until timed out.
    So what I desire is to add to Andrew's code to check if the embedded applet is still running and prompt the user to close or not accordingly.
    Something like:
    Basejini.htm like
    </HEAD>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function maximizeWindow()
    window.moveTo(0,0);
    window.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);
    function confirm(){
    If(document.embeddedapplet.closed())
    Win.opener = self;
    win.close();
    Else if
    event.returnValue = "Closing Forms Application. OK to continue?";
    </SCRIPT>
    <BODY %HTMLbodyAttrs%, onload="maximizeWindow()", onbeforeunload="confirm()">
    %HTMLbeforeForm%
    I hope this explains my requirements.

    I'm sorry this is not helpful at all.
    Note 199928.1 is only an alert which does not stop the closing of the window and still displays as an alert if the user does close properly using exit form ... so why would you want to display the alert then?
    This is exaclty what I do not want and why I want to determine if the applet is still running before displaying any kind of message.

    Subject: Re : How to tell embedded jinitator applet is still running when window closed
    Closing thread.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I had the same issue last year - wanting to provide a warning on closing the browser, but only if the Forms session is still running. The approach I took is described below, see also the thread where I originally posted this at Closing brower window
    Hi there,I've had a similar requirement - or rather, the two conflicting requirements: to warn when the browser is being closed, but for the app to be able to close the browser without a warning being fired.
    To always provide a warning when someone (the user or the Forms app) tries to go to a different page (e.g. your close.htm), use Javascript like:
    function confirmExit(){
    if(appletRunning==true) {
    msg="Closing this window or navigating to another page will end your SomeGreatApp session.";
    window.event.returnValue=msg;
    And make a call to confirmExit() in the onBeforeUnload event of your main page.
    You'll notice I first check an 'appletRunning' variable before displaying the warning. This Javascript variable is set to true by my app when it starts up, using an embedded Javabean that calls out to Javascript. Once that variable is set to true, then the warning will be displayed if the user tries to shut the browser by clicking on the 'x' button, or to go to a different URL.
    When my app is shutting down, it uses the same Javabean to set appletRunning back to false. It then navigates to a close.htm - which will be done without a warning being displayed.
    See Re: How can a Javabean call Javascript function of the basejpi.html?? for example code on how to call Javascript from a bean embedded in your Forms app.
    Hope these ideas help you out, it's worked for me (so far, anyway!!)

  • Daemon thread still alive when the environment is closed

    I'm using the replication framework with the Java API in an OSGi container (equinox). I notice that when I'm closing the environment there is a deamon thread still alive. Each time I start a new replication environment and shut it down, one more daemon thread is added (and still running).
    Is there a way to close the replication framework and all their associated threads?
    I'm using BDB 4.7.25 - windows
    thanks
    dong

    Hi Dong,
    I don't know of a way to force the removal of the daemon thread(s).
    I believe that the thread is actually gone - as long as you are closing down the environment cleanly. The alternative to using daemon threads is to ensure that DetachCurrentThread is called by the JNI layer for each thread. Given the way the Berkeley DB Java API is implemented, that is not feasible.
    Are the additional threads causing issues?

  • Why applets are not having constructors?

    hi,
    could anyone please explain ,why do we need to use init() method instead of constructor to initialize the applets.why applets are not having constructors?.
    thanks in advance
    Santhosh

    Sure u CAN have constructors for applets. Event though you havnt wrote it, its always there... There cant be a class without a constructor......
    The point is that its a standard that the applets init will be caled by the browser the first time.....but still you can have a constructor.

  • Is Adobe Alchemy project still alive?

    Hi, people!
    Please excuse me if I missed something, but I have not heard
    anything for a quite long time (since December, I think) from
    Alchemy developers on this forum.
    Is Alchemy project still alive? I care deeply for its fate,
    and the apparent lack of reaction troubles me greatly.
    There are a few outstanding questions which are causing us,
    Lua Alchemy developers, notable discomfort. Most notably
    the
    flyield() problem and the transition to LLVM 2.4.
    I understand that Adobe Alchemy is an experimental
    unsupported alpha product, but even a short reply of "project not
    abandoned, will be back in six months" kind would do great for our
    spirits.
    Alexander.

    Yes, josath is right that as an Adobe employee I can't tell you much about Adobe's future plans including Alchemy.  But I can say a little bit about the relationship between Alchemy and FlashPlayer and how that will probably play out in the future. Alchemy relies on special op codes for direct memory access and arbitrary jumps that need to be supported by the Flash Player. I believe FP10 was the first player version that supported those op codes. Moving forward I would say it is safe to assume that future versions of the FlashPlayer will continue to support those op codes. In other words you should expect to be able to run today's Alchemy SWFs in every future FP.
    You are also asking whether Alchemy will be able to take advantage of FP performance improvements and support for, say, hardware acceleration.
    My answer would be: "yes" and "no". It depends on your Alchemy SWF and on the feature that improved. For example if FP's garbage collector improved in performance and became twice as fast your Alchemy SWF would probably not benefit from that change. The reason why Alchemy SWFs run so fast is because they avoid using the GC. A faster GC will help "regular" SWFs but not Alchemy SWFs. If everything including rendering improved in performance then regular SWFs and your Alchemy SWFs would improve as well. As far as I know hardware acceleration on mobile devices is currently only accessible through the ActionScript side via cacheAsSurface. But your Alchemy SWFs are created by converting C source code to AS. In other words if you want to take advantage of hardware acceleration then you need to beef up your AS code that uses the converted C code.
    Hope this helps,
    - Bernd

  • How can I move clips from one library to another? Clips are still in original drive and not in new drive.

    I am using iMovie 10.0.7 on a 1-week old iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.2. I migrated from iMovie 9 on a 2008 iMac running Snow Leopard and updated the libraries and events, etc.
    I have two external drives connected via USB. I want to move / consolidate the library and clips from one of the external drives to the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. This is to make room on the external drive to run Time Machine backups.
    Apple's instructions on managing libraries and moving/copying clips/events tell me to drag to move between libraries and to Option-drag to copy. However, simply dragging only copies. I find that if I Command-drag the events/clips, I can "move" them. But when I look outside iMovie in the Mac OS X Finder, the event folders and clip files themselves are still sitting in the original drive.
    I'm very perplexed as to how to really move the clips and event structure. Should I manually copy the clips and event folder structure outside of iMovie? I worry I will mess up iMovie's internal record keeping and folder structure information.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ahh, Ok. I actually had to go to Lynda.com to watch a training video of this highly bassackwards maneuver, but now I have it. In other words, while the intuitive thing is to make a new event to hold the clip you want and then open the old event and drag the clip into it's new event, the only way to accomplish this maneuver is to NOT create a new event, but rather, go to the clip AFTER the one you want to move, select it and then Right-Click on it and select SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP (or go to FILE>SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP). Then you wait a few seconds while the program thinks a bit (no feedback it is doing this - just a pause) and then it automatically creates a new event with the clip you wanted. Now just double-click the new event and name it something meaningful.
    Thanks for your help!

    4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

    You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

    my playlists in itunes that contained voice memos are now blank on my phone, yet they are still on the playlist in itues on my computer. any ideas
    i like to record concerts i go to a listen to them and the voice memos are how i record them

    If you still have the 'pointers' to them in iTunes then I think that it assumes that you still have them on your computer so it won't re-download them or let you copy them from your iPod - try deleting the iTunes entry for one of them and then re-try re-downloading or, with your iPod connected, File > Transfer Purchases. If it works for that one then do the same for the others.

  • I have deleted music from itunes but they are still in my computers 'iTunes' file - how do I sync my new library to my computer's saved version?

    So I have gone back to my 8GB nano and needed to downsize my library so that the songs fit on.
    I went through deleting songs and made sure that I clicked 'send to recycle bin' instead of save file.
    Library looks great.
    Go to 'My Music' and 'iTunes' and all the flipping songs are still there!
    Tried empyting recycle bin, restarting computer, read lots of comments/forums on this problem but have not yet found a way to sync my new library with my computers stored library.
    Please help?

    Thank you for your reply, what I am trying to achieve is for my newly edited iTunes Library to be what is also stored on my computers hard drive - currently all the deleted songs are stored too (even though I clicked for them to be deleted from my computer).
    I appreciate that I could have just created a smaller playlist but I actually wanted to get rid of music I don't listen to anymore.
    So at the moment I have an iTunes library that I want to back up on my external hard drive - but if I go to my music>iTunes music to transfer to external hard drive it has all my deleted songs too, which I no longer want.
    Any help for that matter?

    My photos and aps are still there, but no songs. Anyone ever encounter this and how do you fix it? I  don't want to loose my songs as some are not in MY itunes library. Help

    If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
    If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.
