AppleTV 1.1 & iTunes 7.3 no connection anymore

I've been using AppleTV now since a couple of months without any problems. I updates to 1.1 synched and streamed. Everthing was fine.
Today I updated iTunes to version 7.3. AppleTV didn't appear in my devices list anymore but it still steamed. In order to make it show up again, I removed it (bad idea) to reconnect it. Now I have no changes to connect AppleTV anymore. I already tryed without success:
- factory settings of AppleTV
- reinstallatin of iTunes, also back to 7.2.0.34 didn't work anymore
- update of a resetted AppleTV to 1.1 worked fine, but still no connection
I can ping my AppleTV from my PC and my iMac but both don't see my AppleTV in iTunes.
Any ideas? My Apple TV is empty now. The only thing I can do is watching YouTube.
Thanks in advance

I also started having some strange problems after updating iTunes to 7.3. I suspect we will be seeing another iTunes update soon as the 7.3 release seems a bit buggy.
The first time I tried to download video from the iTunes store following the 7.3 update I kept getting error messages saying that my network drive was full even though it had about 400GB of free space. I changed the iTunes library location back to the iMac hard disk and downloaded the files successfully. I then changed the iTunes library location back to the network drive and it's been working OK since then.
I've also been having problems with Apple TV disappearing from the devices list as a result of the Apple TV losing its network connection. Sometimes it re-connects on its own and sometimes I have to redo the network connection in Apple TV. I don't quite understand how iTunes might affect the Apple TV network connection but this problem started after the iTunes 7.3 update.
It looks like there are still a few bugs remaining to be worked out of iTunes, Apple TV and probably the Airport Extreme Base Station as well.

    Environment:
    iTunes Host Computer:
AppleTV's: Three. All Model A1469, All currently running latest version of OS, [7.1 (7003)]
Network: Wired Ethernet (1000MB) using three D-Link Green DSG-1008G dumb routers, one Apple Airport Extreme (running 7.6.4), and one  AT&T DSL Gateway directly connected to the Airport Extreme WAN port.
Situation: Since the latest updates to OS 7 on the AppleTV, and 10.10 - Yosemite on the iTunes Host Computer, I've had issues with Home Sharing NOT being able to hold a connection between the AppleTV and the iTunes Host computer. This disconnect shows on up as a "...turn on home sharing in iTunes..." screen on the AppleTVs. (I should also note that you can't access Home Sharing during this interruption via another computer either. I've tried this, thinking it was an issue with the AppleTV, however, the computer just will not see the Home Share. Once iTunes is restarted, the Home Share shows up in the iTunes shared list.)
I actually think there are TWO problems here; 1) the AppleTV loss of connection to the Home Share, 2) The need to refresh the iTunes Home Share.
Problem 1 is demonstrated by this example: IF I restart iTunes, then wake an AppleTV to view content, I get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen. If, however, I do nothing else BUT reset the AppleTV, the Home Share works perfectly.
Problem 2 is demonstrated by this example: IF I wake an AppleTV, then reset that same AppleTV without restarting iTunes on the host computer, I get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen.
The ONLY way I don't get the "...turn on Home Sharing..." screen is when I reset the AppleTV, AND restart iTunes. Somehow I don't think this is the way this should be working.
NOTE: In all of these scenarios, I've never had to re-login to Home Sharing on the iTune host. The credentials are working.
NOTE 2: I've completed ALL of the Apple recommended troubleshooting steps, and a good number of other ones suggested by this forum, including renaming the host computer, changing the Home Share Name, reissuing IP addresses, rewiring the network, opening or shutting off of all firewalls, etc.
Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • The light on the front of my Appletv keeps blinking and it will not connect

THe light on my Appletv is blinking and it will not connect.

My Apple TV version 3 shut down a few days ago in the middle of watching a movie and it was flashing continuously
I could not get it to work at all I tried resetting it,  all I got was a Macintosh apple logo on my TV screen
and nothing else.  I had no connection to my iMac with Air Parrot software, or from my new macbook Air with Airplay.
Airplay was no longer visible to select on my macbook Air.
So I connected it to my Mac desktop, using USB and a power cord, to reset it back to factory defaults, as directed by Apple.
This took approx 90 mins to complete, then I had to set it up again…….BUT I cannot get it to work it refuses to
accept any password, and I have updated to a new password today but it will not accept it….
I presumed,  I use the same Apple ID username & password that I use for iTunes and iMac etc for my Apple TV also ?
or does Apple TV have a different username & password ?
    any ideas
    Thanks
    Terry

  • How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)?

How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)? Currently each of us has our own iTunes account, so I've made an "all office" Apple ID. However, I can't seem to get two different accounts (my personal and the office) to work on my machine. Even when I login as "the office", my personal library is still showing. Additionally, when I try to setup with a first-time use in iTunes, I get an error that I don't meet the minimum age requirement - no matter what birthdate I enter!

The library exists regardless of which user is logged in.
The only way around that is to create different user accounts on the computer.
There is no way to have 20 unique iTunes users access a shared iTunes under a single login on the computer.

If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that.  If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar.  Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it.  If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.
If it doesn't appear on the left side, follow the troubleshooting steps shown in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538.

Thanks for your reply. My Mac is running 10.5.8: it's 4 years old.  When I try to update the OS software, I'm told there are none available.
Be careful - there's a difference between update and upgrade.  Your machine is saying there are no updates available, meaning no later versions of OS X 10.5 (Leopard).  However, you can very likely upgrade - at least to OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and possibly then to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
Updates are free, but upgrades cost a bit.  That's the dirference.

  • ITunes crashes when I connect my iPod to the PC when iTunes is running....

I have written about this problem before, but there have not been any successful solutions as of this date. I will explain my situation a little further and maybe someone can help.
Most of the time, when I connect my iPod to my pc while iTunes is running, the instance the iPod shows up on the library site, and whenever I move the cursor, iTunes crashes, so I have to close iTunes right away and try to disconnect my iPod. Most of the time, a message comes up that says info is being transferred to the ipod and that I shouldn't disconnet it at that time, but I usually go ahead because I know it isn't transferring at that time, since itunes has crashed.
Sometimes, after I have clicked on the first message to go ahead and disconnect my ipod, another messages comes up that says something to the effect of, "You can't disconnect because it is being used by another server at this time." So I click "OK" and then iTunes stays on for a few moments which gives me time to transfer a song or two, but then itunes crashes as soon as it finished transferring or before it finishes.
As anyone can imagine, this has really become a hugh problem. Having an iPod and not being able to use iTunes makes it very unhandy. I'm not able to add any new music or any of the playlists which i have been working on. Does anyone have a solution, or any suggestions as to what may be going on? It would be deeply appreciated.
I plan to restore my iPod in a day or two if I don't get a solution to this, but I don't have all of the music, videos, etc. that I have on the iPod since I removed much of it from iTunes to help the computer run faster. I had over 2000 items in the library, so it was pulling the pc down and it was taking forever to use the computer.
I am unable to use any of the software to transfer everything from my iPod to the iTunes library because of the problem with iTunes crashing when I connect the iPod, so this isn't a solution at this time.
    Someone, please help!
HP   Windows XP   Using DSL for internet access

I suspect a hardware problem.  But do the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset.  Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Resore the iPid to factoery defaults/new iPod.
In the latter part of you post, I thin you ar sayng that you do not have a syning computer and the music is not on the computer. If so, do the following so you will not lose anthing (or very little) when you restore.
    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Best iPod to PC
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup. This will make a backup so you can restore to the backup
