AppleTV (2nd Gen): Photo folders get mixed up

For my pictures I use a structured archive like:
2010
--Vaccation
----Trip to lake
While FrontRow honors this structure, the new AppleTV flattens it and makes a larger archive horrible to navigate (tried both ways: sharing as album and sharing as Finder folder).
Any work arrounds ?

Agree, although I don't believe I had ever seen this in the older ATV either. I forgot this existed in Front Row. I just upgraded all my ATV gen 1 to the ATV 2 (streaming). Now, with over 30,000 picts avail. to all my ATVs in the house, the folder organization is critical. I takes about 30 secs to get to the end of the Events and of course finding anything in the photos section is not even usable. Need the Front Row folder hierarchy for ATV photos so there is some organization.

usb symbol pointing toward an itunes symbol is apples way of trying to get you to connect the appletv to your computer running itunes so it can restore the apple tv's software
though it seems to be a connection few people make

I am using an AppleTV 2nd Gen, and I purchased Skyfall and wish to move it to my Mac to watch. How can I do this. I have Home Sharing on correctly, however the AppleTV2 does not show on the iTunes sidebar and I do not see the movie in my purchased content. Any ideas?

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

IPhone4 pictures on AppleTV (2nd gen) have wrong aspect ratio

I'm using AirPlay with an iPhone 4 and an AppleTV (2nd gen), my iphone
pictures are displayed with a wrong aspect ratio (I mean really wrong
aspect ratio, rounded stuff is showed "oval".
Movies taken from my MacBook Pro are displayed correctly, any idea?

The screenshots aspect ratio is fine on the iPhone (and the picture is good if I transfer it to my MacBook) , but is displayed incorrectly when airplayed to the AppleTV.
The AppleTV is attached to a 24'' screen, all the other stuff from AppleTV (menu, home page, films from internet and so on) are displayed correctly).

AppleTV (2nd Gen) sound dropping from iTunes (as remote AirTunes speaker)

Setup:
- iTunes 10.0.1(22) on Mac mini (1st Gen Intel),Mac OS X 10.5.8, 1.000baseT
- FritzBox DSL & WLAN router
- AppleTV (2nd Gen)
Accessing any content (sound, video, pictures) thru AppleTV from Mac mini works fine. Everything play well, no hickups.
Playing music from iTunes on my Mac mini using the AppleTV like an AirPort Express with attached speakers drops and regains sound in unspecific intervals - like 5 secs silence, 20 secs sound, 10 secs silence, 5 secs sound etc.
What can I do ?

AppleTV 2nd gen not updating YouTube app-

Ok. Learned of the newest updates for apps on my AppleTV 2nd gen. Read about how the YouTube app was new and was hoping to play around with it. But when I got on, I found that it has not updated.
I updated the software thru the Setting app. No joy. Restored the AppleTV to factory spec with supposed latest update. Still no joy.
Anyone else have this issue? Searching has not revealed anything yet.
My info:
Model: MC572LL/A
Software: 6.2.1 (6698.99.50.41)
connected by ethernet to Apple Extreme Base Station

I have the exact same problem. The other new channels from the Monday(?) update showed up, but my YouTube app has not changed. I have an AppleTV 2 (i.e. the first hockey puck), is the update limited to certain models?

Ipod touch 2 g does not go above ios 4.2.1 and the facebook update needs 4.3 , so there is no way to update the app.

Watching iphoto home videos on Appletv 2nd gen

How do I get videos from iphoto to my Appletv 2nd generation?

Yes, I've tried that several times and when I choose "Add to library" from iTunes menu it pulls up the Finder. I tried adding to Movies file and it appeared to work but they didn't show up there. Tried adding it by highlighting and putting it on the right side and clicking "add to" but after ejecting iPad the videos weren't on iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

AppleTV (2nd gen) working fine but LED is off

My Apple TV (2nd gen) is working fine but today the white LED is off.
I tried to disconnect from the electricity but it doesn't helped. I also made a restored to factory settings but it is still off.
Yesteday I used at night to watch a movie and the LED was on, I woke up and went to work, when I tried to work today I noticed the LED was off.
As I said everything works fine but the LED.
Any ideia?

Hi All, I have recently purchased an ATV2...
My Apple TV (1st Gen) still shows a list of TV shows that can be purchased from iTunes, as does my iMac running iTunes 10.5.1.
Why is it that my new Apple TV (2nd Gen) cannot?

You cannot purchase TV shows on ATV 2 as there is no hard-drive. In the US you can currently stream purchased shows via iCloud but it hasn't been rolled out to other locations at this time (likely due to licensing).

Can I Exchange AppleTV 2nd Gen With The 3rd Gen?

He owns a company that buys supplies from another company so we end up getting a lot of points fast. AppleTV 2nd gen, iPhoto sharing, wireless

I see if I purchase an Apple TV 2nd generation, I can show iPhoto pictures on my LCD TV wirelessly that are on my Macbook Pro and use my iPad as a remote control to switch between pictures that will appear on the TV.
But what if I have iPhoto pictures on my Intel Mac Pro with no wireless card, can I set it's iPhoto preferences to share the iPhoto library, then use my Macbook laptop to subscribe to the Mac Pro's iPhoto library, and then have the AppleTV and my iPad show the pictures on my LCD monitor and use the iPad to control what pictures are shown wirelessly?

I think I found the answer to my question. I can stream photos from my iPad to the Apple TV and I dno't need to mess with iPhoto sharing via another Mac on the wireless network.

TS3623 AppleTV 2nd gen intermittent audio content out.

My second generation AppleTV plays all content great to my Toshiba LED TV, but content out to the soundbar is intermittent. iTune movie "Let Me In" doesn't but "The Replacements" works perfect and so on. Same thing with Netflicks. But my Blueray player using netflicks works perfect on every tittle from netflicks. I have tested all four HDMI ports with the same result. The AppleTV is dissapointing at this point. Any Ideas? Oh, the sound bar is the Polk Audio 3000.

AppleTV 1 allows you to set resolution from 480p/576p through to 1080i/p under Settings.

For what it's worth I much prefer my AppleTV 1's. I too feel there's something subjectively worse about video quality on 2, menus in particular look rough edged/pixellated compared to 1- the output may just be sharper (or non anti-aliased menus) than gen 1.
AppleTV2 definitely buffers/navigates faster and with more responsiveness, but the interface is not as polished as ATV1 and some features are still missing compared to 1 - early days though for ATV2, so I hope software updates will remedy some of these. Having recently read something about possible ATV2 revision with better CPU however, I wonder if it will have the same lifespan software upgrade wise as gen 1 did, though being iOS based this may help apart from hardware dependent things.

The point was that I found the ATV1 to be better than the ATV2, IMO of course.

View images from enhanced podcasts on AppleTV (2nd gen)

Is there a way to view the images embedded in enhanced audio podcasts through AppleTV? I listen to a number of photography podcasts that discuss particular images but the audio isn't much good if I cannot see the image. Thanks.

Okay... I selected the Jeff Curto "Photo History - Class 6 Spring 11 - Photography and Painting" podcast for test purposes. The easiest way to view this specific file on the TV2 device seems to be to simply lie to iTunes.
1) Download the podcast in your normal manner.
2) Delete the podcast from iTunes and send it to your trash can.
3) Drag the file back to your desktop.
4) Change the M4A (".m4a") file extension to M4V (".m4v").
5) Re-import the file to your iTunes library.
Your audio podcast will now load/play on the TV2 as if it were a video podcast.

ITunes remote Speakers button and AppleTV (2nd gen)

Having followed the iTunes Help instruction "Choose which speakers to use" there is still no Speakers button appearing. I'm successfully using my wireless network for ATV2 and can watch movies, internet, and access my iMac Playlist, but am unable to use the ATV to play my iTunes selections from my iMac.

Even though I had set Airplay to 'On', somewhere along the way it has reverted to 'Off'. My error.
Straying outside my original question for a moment, ... to a certain extent it is too easy to blame a new product in the early stages when one is going through an unfamiliar process, so I'm reluctant now to assume that iTunes is waking itself up, but it is in fact awakening without my direct intervention. I've tried putting ATV2 to sleep, then restarting my computer to see if ATV2 woke up with a prod from Bonjour, but this does not seem to be the case.
So, either the unexpected wake-up is a feature that I don't know how to control, or there is a bug in the firmware. Most probably the former, but there is an open thread "Discussions > Apple TV (2nd generation) > Home Sharing with Apple TV" with 52 entries from people with problems, so there could be a real glitch to be fixed.
