AppleTV compatible with Buffalo Linkstation Live?

If you look it up, The LinkStation Live supports SMB and has a built in iTunes7 server.

Do you think I could plug this directly into the AppleTV via ethernet or would I have to use my existing router?
Would it show up in AppleTV sources, as a shared library, if the LinkStation was set up that way?

Then it's not a suitable location for the iPhoto Library.
One possible workaround: put the library on a Disk Image and store the Image on the NAS

  • Will the Buffalo LinkStation Live work with my Mac Book?

I am wanting to get a hard drive that will wirelessly back up my two MacBooks using Time Machine Software. Also, I would like to be able to hook up my printer to this device so that we can share a printer between the two Macbooks wirelessly.
I came across the "Buffalo LinkStation Live™ - LS-CHL". It seems to do exactly what I want, but I can not tell if it is compatible with Time Machine software or if I have to use their bundled software.
Basically, I want to share a backup HD and printer between my two MacBooks....wirelessly. I do not need a router because I already have one. I understand a Time Capsule would probably work, but it is more than I want to spend.
Here is a link to the LinkStation Live™ - LS-CHL.

    THANK YOU!

I'm not sure about the 2007 mini, but a quick check is to open your system preferences and look for Bluetooth preferences.  If there aren't any, then no magic mouse for you...

  • Buffalo LinkStation Live and NasNavigator 2 problems with Mac

I am using a Buffalo LinkStation Live (LS-CH1.0TL) with my MacBook. With the Firewell turned off on my Mac it works really well. Unfortunately, with the Firewall on, a perpetual dialogue box appears asking to give permission to allow incoming connections from NasNavigator 2. Whether you click Allow or Deny, the message appears again after about 10 seconds. This process continues indefinitely. It works fine with Windows 7 (either run via Mac or on my previous PC). I have updated all software/firmware and reformatted and restored factory settings on the LinkStation.
Buffalo are stating that this is an Apple issue so can anyone help or is this going to be technical-support-tennis where each are blaming the other?! Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Somewhere at either Macworld or here I learned that DVDSP 2, DVDSP 3 and now DVDSP 4 "internally" are major re-writes.
Support for HD among a few other items along with QT 7 which comes with Tiger means sincerely that one set of applications/OS is not going to be stable.
Personally I think of all the issues possible its DVDSP vs QT.
Unless you move to DVDSP v4 the alternative is to wipe the disk and go back to Jaguar (10.2) or perhaps Panther but avoid upgrading QT beyond 6. I advocate wiping the disk because I'n not sure an archive and install to down shift to an earlier version of the OS is possible. If it is I'd still worry about mis-matched files in all sorts of locations.

  • Using Buffalo LinkStation Live as an iPhoto '09 Library

I just recently purchased the buffalo linkstation live NAS. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac. I was wondering if it is possible to use the hard drive as a server with my iPhoto library on it, so other DNLA devices can view the videos and pictures in it. I heard that there are potential risks if the hard drive(s) is not Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formatted. However, this hard drive is for both Windows and Mac so I really hope I can use it as a server. I'm only going to use my iMac to add, edit the library with photos/videos, not use other computers. Otherwise, I can only use my hard drive as an iTunes server, which is kind of a waste, since the hard drive has 1tb and I want to use the most of it.
    Thanks,
    -Tarun

  • How do I set up a share on my buffalo Linkstation Live 2 TB

  • Anyone help setup TC with Buffalo Linkstation NAS

I have a TIme Capsule working great with my iMac. I also have a Buffalo Linkstation Live 1Tb NAS.
There is a smartphone app that allows you to share a folder from your NAS over WiFi and 3G. I want to do this so I can share my music over my 3G when out and about, and play it (I am in UK and have unlimited 3G internet).
However in the easywebaccess setting it says I havent got UPnP. I'm unsure how to enale/set this in my TC. I goto advanced setting on my NAS and says I need to setup oorts etc, I dont know how to do this on a TC.
When trying advanced setup I get this error "UPnP Gateway not found and/or doesn't support port forwarding, use manual setup."
    Anyone help please?
    cheers

Let me suggest you swap your system or your thinking..
If you use a modem router to which the TC is connected tell me more.. The TC can be bridged and the other device become the router.. this makes things easier as you can then track ports that upnp opens.. and see what you need to do.
I am unsure where the app is loaded.. is it in the buffalo or the phone??
Mostly iphone is rigged to itunes, welded or melded would be better as it is almost impossible to escape itunes.. so when you coyly refer to smartphone.. I presume you are not actually talking about iphone but the that horrible company that had the gall to encroach on Apple's space.
To get music to work, it must use a standard method eg http, or ftp etc.. all you need to do is to tell me what method it uses if you don't have the actual ports it uses.
Apple buiild everything to operate in their own paid for realm of itunes.. icloud etc. When you try to bypass that.. you need to get the apple router out of the way.
(It might also be much easier to use an SD-Card or some other memory type if you can plug those in).

  • Connecting a Buffalo Linkstation Live to an AE network

I just bought a Buffalo Linkstation Live HS500GL on closeout at Circuit city. I have it hooked up to my AE via ethernet, but I can't "see" it on the network. The supplied software, the NAS Navigator seems to find it, and shows the IP address, and all the information, but I can't connect to it through a browser (Safari or Firefox) or any other way.
The instructions that came with it said I would have a NAS Navigator icon on my desktop as well as a new "share" icon on my desktop. There is no share icon showing up.
I have also tried connecting to server in the Finder "Go" menu, but this doesn't work either.
    Any advice out there?

Just bumping up to see if anyone has any ideas.

  • Thinking of moving my iTunes library to a NAS (Buffalo Linkstation Live)...

    Hi
My iTunes library is growing, with movies and tunes etc its getting too big for my iMac HDD (320Gb). At the moment I have all my music on my iMac HDD iTunes library, and my movies on my NAS.
However I was wondering if I can put my whole iTunes library on my NAS. I have a Buffalo Linkstation Live which says in documentation
"iTunes automatically makes the LinkStation available as a content source in your iTunes software"
Not exactly sure what this means though? Also if it is possible, what is it like performance/managing wise? The Linkstation is wired Ethernet to my iMac by the way. Also if the iTunes library is on my NAS, can my PS3 access it to? I have a PS3 which accesses my NAS fine at moment, will the PS3 be able to "see" inside the iTunes library on the NAS?
    cheers

Anyone in similar situation or has a Buffalo NAS Live please?
    cheers

  • Buffalo Linkstation live - Itunes 10.5

    Hi,
I have a linkstation live connected to my home router via ethernet.
The linkstation live has an Itunes server built in to this.
Prior to upgraded to Itunes 10.5.0.142 my computer (Windows7 32bit) could see my linkstation live as an itunes server as displayed this in itunes as a shared library.
Now I've upgraded to 10.5.0142 (Had to to upgraded to iOS5) the linkstation is no longer seen.
I've looked on buffalo's site for an update however they have firmly laid the problem at apples door.
    http://www.buffalo-technology.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10272
Please Apple - Can you re-issue a fix like you did before !
    Thanks
    Paul

I was looking for something like this. I have just bought a WD My Book World NAS drive. I connected it to my old router (G) and discovered it was too slow to wirelessly stream high bitrate music or movies. I then bought a Belkin N+ router which resolved this issue. However I have trouble with the mounts. When I wake my MacBook from sleep I can normally see the drive under Shares in Finder, but after some minutes it disappears. If I Go -> Network in Finder it turns up, but will not connect. The funny thing is I can be streaming music from the darn thing without interruption! The network shares on the desktop also turns on/off erratically. I can still access the folder contents from these even that the drive is not visible in Finder.
The NAS is set up for AFP on all shares which should be ok. I have tried both dynamic and fixed IP address on the NAS, but my Mac gets it dynamically. I'll try a fixed IP for this.
People are talking about automatic mount of network resources on start up. I came from Windblows and do not know all the fancy Unix commands and config files stuff. So how do you folks do this?
    Will be much appreciated, thanks!

  • Excessive log entries with buffalo linkstation

    Hi all,
I am getting excessive log entries on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.7) that appear to be related to my Buffalo LinkStation HD-CELU2 external drive. This drive is connected to my Airport Extreme (latest firmware) via USB and acts as my iTunes (10.2.2) library, which also serves as the music source for a Sonos digital music system. A sample of the log entries follow:
    4/18/11 8:15:22 PM    com.apple.launchd[1]    (jp.buffalo.NASPower) Throttling respawn: Will start in 60 seconds
    4/18/11 8:15:39 PM    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[131]    (jp.buffalo.NASPower[6798]) posix_spawn("/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/NasNavigator2.app/Contents/MacOS/Na sNavigator2", ...): No such file or directory
    4/18/11 8:15:39 PM    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[131]    (jp.buffalo.NASPower[6798]) Exited with exit code: 1
    4/18/11 8:15:39 PM    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[131]    (jp.buffalo.NASPower) Throttling respawn: Will start in 60 seconds
It says that a file isn't found, and that could be because I uninstalled NASNavigator in an attempt to get rid of these extraneous log entries. Uninstalling the software seems to have only resulted in changing the messages (to "no such file"), not reducing or ending them.
This log entry is constant; it occurs even when the computer has no need to access the Buffalo hard drive. It makes it very hard to diagnose any other issues because it both clutters the log and causes it to only recall a couple of hours worth of log info.
    Thanks in advance!

Ho everyone, just registered as I have a Bold 9900 and am considering a Playbook with the new OS2.  Does anyone know whether I will be able to get it to talk to my Buffalo Linkstation.  think its a Pro Duo 2 and is about 2-3 years old.

  • 'Phantom'  iTunes tracks on Buffalo Linkstation Live shared drive

I have finally copied all my music over to a Buffalo Linkstation - I could not consolidate so dragged into iTunes from my PC drive and changed directory location. My PC can see the entire library direct and my iMac and PC can see the library on the Buffalo drive. But when searching direct to Linkstation via PC or iMac I am seeing multiple copies of tracks. Some of these multiples come up with '!' others show up 2 or 3 times and can be played. There are no duplicate copies on the LinkStation - the trash is empty. Any ideas please?

download the setup guide from here and follow the instructions.

  • AppleTV compatible with a 5Ghz network?

Up until a few days ago I had no problems with my Apple TV (2nd gen). Then I switched my network from 2.4 Ghz to 5 Ghz. Apple TV easily connects to the new network, showing signal strength as "strong".
Pushing content from my computer (iTunes) or from my iPhone to Apple TV works. But not the other way around: when I try to connect to my computer (iTunes) from AppleTV, it either gives me an error message that it can't find it or just simply jumps back to the home screen.
I've tried restarting AppleTV, the router and my computer. So far no luck. 5Ghz is supposed to be compatible with AppleTV I thought, and yet....? Any ideas please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
5 GHz does work, but is often not what many users expect. There is less chance of interference issues but the distance over which it works is significantly less and is easily blocked. It may help in some circumstances but may work less well in others.

  • AppleTV Compatible with XP SP3?

I'm paranoid so I usually need extra conformation whenever I buy anything. My MacBook recently died and I have no money to replace it. I have a PC running XP home(SP3) with no wireless network. I want to buy and AppleTV because I'm getting sick of having to unplug my computer and take it over to the TV if I want to watch my iTunes movie on full screen.
Before I spend so much money I need to know that it will all work. Will it be compatible with windows XP running SP3(The manual online says SP2)? And can I run AppleTV by only syncing movies from my i?Tunes without a wireless connection?
    Thanks.

There shouldn't be a problem with XP SP3, per se, but Windows users have reported a variety of problems with the Windows version of iTunes. You also don't need wi-fi, you can stream with it connected to your router by Ethernet cable. If you don't have a router, Windows can also do Internet sharing.

  • Latest quicktime update not compatible with Serato Scratch Live program

I'm a DJ/VJ that uses the serato program which uses quicktime to run the videos. The latest update with quicktime has totally screwed up the video program and is no longer compatible with it. I can't open itunes anymore and have to use an older version of quicktime. Anything older than 7.5 works... will there be an update to fix this issue???

You could send a bug report through to Apple. (We're a user-to-user troubleshooting forum, so there's no guarantee that someone from Apple will see your post here.) The "Technical comments" feedback type on the QuickTime feedback form would probably do the trick:

  • How to make AppleTV compatible with ordinary TVs?

I was meaning to buy an AppleTV (although I'm aware that a newer version of it, perhaps one with DVD drive, is due to be released), but remembered that it requires a flat-screen TV. I can't afford both simultaneously nor around the same time. I've got an elgato TV tuner coming soon and would like to watch from my living room what's recorded in my MBP, which lives in another room.
    Any solution or alternative?
    Thanks.

On paper the tv only gives component output and not composite as required by SCART.
In fact it has now been shown that the circuitry to deliver composite signal is present in the tv but you just cant get at the interface to turn it on. That link tells you how to fool the tv set up into delivering a composite signal.
So you can do it almost for free instead using the hidden composite signal inside the tv. You need a HDMI-DVI-VGA converter combo to get the tv to deliver this signal and it costs maybe $20-30. Follow the links to Mauricio's video and instructions. He says you only need an HDMI-DVI but that didnt work for me.
Beware to ensure you get a VGA to DVI-I adaptor since the HDMI-DVI will probably be a DVI-D.
Worked first time and works fine. This way i'm using the tv signal directly
