AppleTV Dissapearing from iTunes

I have been noticing that the AppleTV keeps dissapearing from iTunes. I don't put it in standby.
The AppleTV is using wired Ethernet.
When I go to the iTunes preferences screen, it says the AppleTV is syncing. Shouldn't it always show up in iTunes?

I have similar problems having aTV (40GB Software 2.0) disappear from iTunes (7.6.1 9) and found two possible reasons for it - unfortunately I do not have a solution for the problems. I hope the following information is helpful for you as well:
1. aTV disappears from iTunes because aTV looses its WiFi network connection
I could not find out why aTV looses the connection but the connection can easily be reestablished by just entering aTVs wireless network menu and leaving it again. I do not have to reenter the SSID and password.
2. aTV disappears from iTunes shortly after another WiFi device joins the network
I encountered the problem when I connect my ipod touch or my Notebook to my WiFi network. In this case all devices in the network are able to access the internet but iTunes and aTV are not able to reestablish their connection in a stable manner. Restarting iTunes might make aTV visible for some seconds in iTunes but the connection will drop again - even if I turn of my Notebook and ipod WiFi connection.
In both cases mentioned above the only way to reestablish the connection between aTV and iTunes seems to be rebooting aTV, iMac and WiFi router.
I'd like to know if you or anybody else having these problems can confirm that the problem might be caused (or better be initiated) by additional devices joining the network.
I suspect that somehow the additional devices or the unavailability of aTV confuse Bonjour (the software that lets iTunes find the aTV).

I am having a problem with Apple TV in iTunes. After a while, it might be after it syncs, my apple TV will disappear from my devices list in Tunes and I have to restart the app to bring it back. How do I stop this from happening?

Same problem here, Atv dissapears from iTunes ! Still have to close iTunes two times before it actually closes ? Reopening iTunes sometimes showes Atv and sometimes it doesn't ? Any ideas !?

ITouch randomly dissapears from iTunes during sync

I just bought a new ipod touch 16g. During syncing, the process will freeze after only a few songs, and then the ipod will dissapear from itunes. The only way to get it to come back is to cancel the sync on the ipod and then disconnect and reconnect it. There are no error messages when it happens, except for one time when I restarted itunes and i was told that my ipod had diagnostic information the could be sent to apple. I did it. I looked through the other threads, but they were all getting errors. I get no errors. Can anyone help me?

Items dissapeared from iTunes, still on iPhone

Three purchases made on Dec 2007 (audiobooks) suddenly disappeared from iTunes (ver 9.0) Library. They are still on my iPhone 3Gs. I tried SYNC many times, Transfer purchases, etc but nothing works. Any idea on how to restore those files from the iPhone to iTunes? I even have copy of the original receipt from when I purchased those audio books at the iTunes store.

Since the tracks were still on my iPhone, I tried to force a transfer by selecting TRANSFER FROM IPHONE. That did not work, because in iTunes I had a "phantom" reference, that is the album tag info pointing to nowhere. So I removed those tracks from my iTunes library and then selected TRANSFER PURCHASES FROM IPHONE. That worked. the tracks were transferred from iPhone to iTunes .
In my case this specific album is no longer for sale in iTunes stre so not sure that had anything to do with it.
And right now I am running a backup of my iTunes purchases... something I never did in 4 years

All tunes DISSAPEARED from itunes...virus?? Scam??

Hi,
Am at a loss, all the music I have been buying or saving onto itunes has dissapeared. What happened: I dowloaded today a song from a friend through hotmail called coupdeboule.mp3 the joke song for France's defeat at the cup, it automatically asked to play it through itunes. After that: NOTHING. not one single file left on itunes. I restarted the computer and not even that song figues. Was it a virus? What can I do??
PLease help, is there any way I can get back what I had?

when i first connect my ipod touch to itunes it syncs ok but after a while it dissapears and i have to unplug it all and reconnect ive tried all the steps itunes have suggested

Saying y"ive tried all the steps itunes have suggested" provides us with zero information as to what you tried.
Have you tried another cable?
Another USB port?
Another computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.

Ipod dissapearing from itunes after long time connected?

I am not sure on the time it takes.. or if there is a set time... but my ipod dissappears from my Itunes list (i have to unplug/replug to get it to resynch)
Its still seen in windows as connected via USB.
Its the latest 7.0.70 itunes and 1.2 for my 5th gen gen 1 ipod

Just a quick update. (and possible quick fix) I checked "enable disk use" on both of my ipods. I then enjected my nano and hooked it back up and my 5.5G iPod did remain on the source list as did the Nano. I suspect if I did the same thing but only ejecting the 5.5G iPod that the Nano would also remain connected. I just did this, so I don't know if this quick fix will help keep your iPod connected to the source list or not. I'll post back later if one of my iPods drops off the source list again. I have a sneaky suspician disk use won't allow the iPod to drop off the source list.

My Ipad dissapears from Itunes on wifi with win 7

I can connect my Ipad ot my win 7 box fine with the USB cable. I check the "Synch over wi-fi" option. Then, I unplug everything, restart the pc, open Itunes and then open my Ipad. The Ipad symbol appears grayed on the top right of Itunes, wile a timer counter moves round. Then the timer stops (freezes) and the Ipad symbol dissapears. End of story.
This repeats every time I try to connect via Wi-Fi, If I use the USB cable everything works fine.
Any help will be welcome.

Songs Keep Dissapearing From iTunes ???

I've been having a recurring issue with every version of iTunes I've used. While scrolling through my library, I sometimes come across songs, and sometimes even whole albums that have a "!" right to the left of the track name column. When I click on any of these, I get
"The song "XXX" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?".
I click yes, and it never finds it and I have to go and re-import that track or album. It's a royal pain in the ***. ***?

While technically correct, in all practicality, if the current Library has broken links (the ITL file), then the corresponding XML file will also have the same broken links. Both files are created/written at the same time. Importing the XML file will just be recreating the broken ITL Library.

work is if the broken Library links had just manifested themselves during the startup of the current iTunes session. Otherwise, as soon as you close iTunes, new ITL and XML files are created.
Unless you have previous copies of either the ITL or XML file archived, this will not work.
Otherwise, 'Refreshing' the Library as Katrina described is your only option.
It may be possible to save the Static Playlists in XML form (via export) prior to the 'Refresh', then import them back into iTunes after the refresh. Not sure how the absolute references will play out within iTunes. You may be able to recreate the playlists....maybe not. I haven't tested this out yet.

several of my songs have explanation marks in front of them.....why? where did they go?

The ! only means the songs are not where iTunes expects them to be.
This could be due to the user or some program on the computer moving them or the drive they are on being disconnected.

Found the fix for Apple TV dissapearing from iTunes 10

After hours of searching the boards and trying things on my own (router, firewall,etc.), I stumbled across the solution that fixed my problem of my Applet TV 1st Gen not showing up in iTunes anymore after a couple of years of working flawlessly.
Hopefully this will help someone else out as well.
I uninstalled the current version of Bonjour, and installed a previous version.
Apple TV pops up immediately.
Not sure what changed, but something is different in the newer version of Bonjour that does not play nicely with Win 7 and iTunes 10.
Hope this helps and saves someone some of the time I spent trying to get mine back.

Sounds good, can you post a link to the old version of Bonjour that still works? Was it installed on Win 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

How do I get games for my ipod classic? the clickwheel toolbar has gone from itunes!

I used to be able to buy games for my ipod classic by clicking on apps then clickwheel games, this option has dissapeared from itunes, does this mean I can't get them anymore? or can I get them some other way?

Hmmm. I see. It appears they have removed the Click Wheel Games altogether. I can't find any documentation regarding its removal.

Sync Notes option GONE from iTunes after ML Update?!?

I upgraded to Mountian Lion
Now in iTunes, under the 'Info' tab for my iPhone, I can no longer see the 'Sync Notes on this iPhone with Notes on this Computer' option.
The checkbox & heading has COMPLETELY gone.
I'm assuming this has something to do with ML now having a native Notes.app but this is of no use to me.
The bulk of my notes on my iPhone were created before iCloud existed. And so they belong to the account 'On my Phone'. So even when turning on iCloud syncing for notes on the iPhone, these old notes do not transition to iCloud (A well known flaw amoungst many users I've seen on here).
Does anyone know how else to Sync notes from an iPhone to a Mac running ML?
Once on the Mac, I can simply turn on iCloud syncing for Notes on the Mac, then drag & drop the Notes from 'On my Mac' to 'iCloud'.

I did what you just said (drag & drop) and ALL of my notes dissapeared off ALL of my devices AND iCloud!!!. Fortunately I had backed up my iPhone 4 iOS 6 and still have all my notes in the iTunes backup file. I restored that file (including my notes) and as soon as phone restarted, it re-synced with the empty iCloud Notes and notes disappeared again from my phone. This is absolutely REDICULOUS!!! And I'm still using Lion with latest iTunes update so I still have Sync Notes option in iTunes, BUT IT DOES NOT WORK!!! Somebody at Apple has been drinking WAY too much.

Remote spoeakers keeps dissappearing from iTunes...help please

Sometimes when I open itunes it does not see the remote speakers so I cannot connect to them. Other times when I am sending music to the remote speakers the remote speakers dissapear from itunes & the music stream stops.
Can anyone help me out here?

Firewall issue

Three movies I bought from iTunes this morning do not show up on the 1st Gen AppleTV.

I understand some file formats are not compatible with AppleTV (1st gen) but these films were purchased directly from iTunes. One would assume they are formatted properly to work on Apple equipment, yes? Previously purchased movies show up on the AppleTV just fine, so I'm not sure what's going with these three. They were from the $4.99 Sci Fi collection: Enemy Mine, Dune and Terminator 2. Oldies but goodies. The iMac, where the iTunes Library lives is used to stream the content to the AppleTV, and everything that is in my Library appears to be available for streaming, except these three films. Any advice?

I have now restored Factory Settings on the Apple TV. Looked promising until iTunes hangs everytime I tried to enter the podcast page of the sync options. And I get errors that my newest movies, created in Final Cut Pro X with the Share with 720p Apple Devices export settings are not compatible with Apple TV.
Unbelievable.
