AppleTV not updating iTunes playback position

I have some long MP4 audio files, which have "Remember Playback Position" toggled on.
My iPod plays them, when I stop listening, it remembers the position. When I sync it with iTunes, it updates iTunes with the new playback position.
On playing the same file on my Apple TV, the file starts playing in the correct (remembered) place. However on stopping the file, and resyncing the Apple TV with iTunes, it fails to update iTunes with the new "remembered" position.
Is this repeatable by others?

I listen to long mp3 files with remember playback position set. It does not work when I sync to the Apple TV, but if I stream, iTunes does keep track of where I left off. So I can listen through the ATV, then sync to the nano and keep going where it left off when listening to the ATV via streaming.
I wish sync would remember but as of now it does not.

  • My appleTV does not remember podcast playback position

Is anyone else finding that video podcasts are not remembering their playback position despite standard movies remembering theirs?  Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Video podcasts remember playback position. Audio podcasts do not. Major bug.

  • Appletv not updating podcasts - has apple sold a product then dropped support after 1 year?  May 2014

appletv not updating podcasts - has apple sold a product then dropped support after 1 yera?  May 2014 - None of the podcasts are being updated on appletv.  Running itunes 11.2 and it shows podcasts there.  Apple looks more like windows every day.

Before blaming Apple, was any troubleshooting actually attempted?  If so, what was done?
Or was it simply easier to jump to conclusions?

  • Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

    Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

It's always a good idea to check the requirements before purchasing.
The person I spoke with at 1-800-MY-APPLE gave me totally different info...she said the iPhone 5 would in fact sync with the older version of iTunes and that I could restore from my previous iPhone 4 backup and also bring in my music that way.  Hmmm....
I'm inclined to go by the published specs, but now I have to jump thru a bunch of hoops I wasn't expecting to.

  • AppleTV not Updating

My company has recently put in place  five of the newest AppleTVs.  They have not been able to get the latest software update.  I have tried different times of the day, to no avail. The status bar goes all the way through Step 1 and then just goes to "Update Was Not Successful".  They work fine in all other respects.
The AppleTVs are all on wired segments of the network.

  • Iphone song ratings not updating itunes on sync

Most songs listened on the iphone that I have given a rating to have updated itunes with the star rating. However I have several songs (approx 50) that when I give them a rating wont update the itunes rating.
    any ideas ?

I have the same problem, the ratings dont update itunes & often some of the ratings on the iphone disapear too (not all though for some reason) along with the strange randown fast forwarding of songs when playing sometimes (I have to turn off the phone & back on to stop it) It really is anoying when you have paid £400 for something.

  • Will not update itunes

I added more music to my i tunes and it exceeded the space left on my i pod mini. So I chose the option to have a random i pod "selection". Then I went to update it and it deleted the play lists I created so I went back to my library and unchecked some songs so I could have all the ones I wanted to fit in my library on my i pod and deleted the "i pod selection play list". Then I got a pop-up saying "cannot be updated because selected play list is missing". So I went back and added the i pod selection play list and copied my music from my library into it and it still will not update my i pod!
    HELPPP PLEASEEEEEEEE!

I wish I had an answer for you, but what I do have is the same problem! Suddenly, even with the latest iTunes software and iPod updater, I can no longer update from iTunes on my 3rd generation iPod! After that, audio no longer works on my system. If I do a restart, it still doesn't work. The only way to get audio back is to do a cold boot. But then, even after that, the iPod problem remains. I wonder what's going on here.

  • Sorting by artist does not update (iTunes 11 only)

I never should have updated to iTunes 11. I've had nothing but headaches since I dropped 10. Most of them are bearable, but one has me completely boggled.
When I did the update, iTunes tried to outsmart me and played around with my Artist info on some of the tracks where I'd changed that field. I don't know why it did that since I'd changed the field on purpose to make sorting easier, but whatever.
The problem is that when I go back into the track's info (using iTunes' "Get Info" or just by editing the field directly in the grid view), iTunes steadfastly refuses to re-sort based on the new value.
For example, I've purchased the Sweeney Todd soundtrack. One of the tracks, "Pretty Women" originally listed "Alan Rickman & Johnny Depp" as the artist. While this is kind of sort of correct (they're just performers, not the artist) it at least put the track in the appropriate place when sorted by artist - midway through the "A"s.
When I go in and change the artist to Stephen Sondheim (who actually wrote the bloody thing), the Artist value does change, but no matter how many times I re-sort by artist, the track still sits in the middle of the "A"s. I've restarted iTunes, restarted my computer, synced with my iPod, everything I can think of, and that track (and any other track I change the artist on) still sits there smilling and thinking that it still says "Alan".
Has anyone else seen this happen and (more importantly) has anyone found something approaching an answer?
    Thanks!

Of course by posting the question I was destined to stuble on the answer. Get Info, Sorting, and update the Sorting Artist field. Please raise your hand if you think this is a mind-numbingly Microsoftian thing to put into an Apple product. Now I'm going to need to go through my entire bloody library removing the "Sorting" fields just so I can get iTunes to remember the alphabet. Why not sort by what it says in the matrix by default? *facepalm* Jobs would be ******.

  • Syncing my iPhone 4 will not update iTunes play counts

Running a MacBook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5 (141).
Since upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS5 - I have noticed that when syncing my phone in iTunes (wired), my 'play counts' do not update for recently played songs, and any songs played on my iPhone do not appear in the 'Recently Played' playlist in iTunes.
I mange my music manually on my iPhone, so had a go at removing all the music from it, then copying over just one album. Played the first track of that album on my iPhone which had been played 10 times. Synced iPhone, and still says 10 plays in the play count on iTunes.
Have checked the 'Home Sharing computers and devices update play counts' in the 'Sharing Preferences' in iTunes, but this has no effect.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Is it a bug?
Am I missing something glaringly obvious?

Dalmanac, I hear you. I record all of my plays to a database, and iOS5 has broken that for me. Quite frustrating.
I've done a bunch of testing tonight, a bit more thoroughly than I did on the weekend. There are two scenarios where I appear to be able to get the phone to sync plays back the the library.
Play a song from the iPhone through iTunes:
    1. Connect iPhone.
    2. Play song through iTunes, but from iPhone.
2.1 iTunes briefly says "updating files on phone" or something such
2.2 iPhone count increases (viewable in iTunes)
    3. Click on Music Library -> play count has not updated
    4. Sync iPhone -> play count in Music Library updates
This implies to me that syncing from the iPhone on iOS5 CAN work. The functionality is there, just broken.
Repeating those steps, but playing the song on the phone, not iTunes sees the iPhone count update, but not Music Library.
Starting a fresh library (yeah, I know, I don't want to do that either) and leaving the phone in Automatic mode appears to sync plays from the iPhone when played from the iPhone. I just tested with one track, but it seems to work without issue.
Starting a fresh library and using Manually Manage Music does not work, or at least I can't get it to. It behaves the same as keeping the existing library in manual mode. iPhone count updates, library count doesn't.
The last thing I want to do is start a new library and turn off Manually Manage Music. For the time being I've changed my database import from reading the music library XML to exporting a playlist from the phone of the day's plays (including play date and count) and importing from that. At least for a bit to see if this gets syncing issue fixed - or if I can find the magic combination of making it work again with my existing music library in manual mode.
If anyone learns anything further about how to get it working or has any further diagnosis please post.

  • Why does my library not update itunes to display purchased songs?

I bought a portion of an album a few months ago, and went to purchase the rest of the album and none of the songs I have purchased show up as purchased.  I bought one of the songs I did not own, and it instantly marked it as purchased but did not update the rest of it.  Any advice/ fix for this?  Also I have the "share details of your library with apple" turned on.

Using iTunes 9, I am trying to update my Genius so that I can have the Genius Mixes however it seems to always be stuck on "Sending information to Apple…". I've let it run for 3 hours with no success and twice have had it say the there is an error with the iTunes Store. It doesn't seem to be sending anything as there is no bandwidth use.

    *Fixed*
