AppleTv Sprint Mifi

I'm thinking about getting one of those Sprint Mifi wireless broadband setups, but am worried about the 5 GB download a month caps they put on it. My current useage with my broadband card is around 800,000 MB.
I'm wondering how much memory the AppleTv uses to rent a few movies a month in HD.

i downloaded the entire season 4 of Battlestar Galactica HD and it was almost 30GB.. you get an HD and SD for each episode (SD is for you iPod etc). so that's ~1.4GB per episode.. think each HD episode is about 800MB.. SD movies are about 1.5GB.. not sure how big an HD movie is since we can't buy HD movies here yet (Canada).. based on the TV shows i'd imagin2 2-3GB depending on the movie.
my ISP sent me alert that i was at 75% of my cap which is 60GB per month... luckily the month is almost over.. yikes.

Re: How can I get the best out of my battery life?
    Hi,
When I make phone calls people on the other end have difficulty hearing me. They describe as they can hardly hear me as if I was speaking through the pillow etc). I am not touching any buttons and obviously it is not mute. This was happening couple of time in June, then every now and then. Recently it happened a few time in 2 weeks. I was trying to check if it was a reception issue but the place I spoke from is my office I make 70% of phone calls from. Can you book time for me in repair shop and address the issue.
    Thank you.

  • Sprint Mifi & MacBook Pro 17" 2009 connection troubles

I'm able to connect to the Sprint MiFi just fine from an iPhone 3G and a MacBook Air, but am quite unable to make it work from a MacBook Pro 17" 2009. I can see the MiFi network in the Airport menu, and can select it, but have no network connection.
Anybody else experiencing this? Any workarounds?

Got a similar problem. I can connect to it fine as it comes out of the box, and actually surf the internet using the MiFi, but if I attempt to configure any kind of security, it's all of a sudden no longer accessible. I can see it in the list of networks, but can't access the menus through the browser interface or surf the net. Network preference pane tells me I'm connected with an IP address, but I can get no response from the device and any attempts at web surfing results in "You are not connected to the Internet" page.

  • How can I connect my ITouch to Sprint MiFi 2200?

The Sprint MiFi is appearing in the WiFi Networks list, and I appear to be able to connect to it. However, when I attempt to log in, 1 of 2 things occurs:
    1) After entering the password, I get "Unable to join the network..." or
    2) I'm unable to access an internet site (e.g. Safari & NY Times) or retrieve my email, I get a message saying I must be connected to the internet to access...
    Any assistance appreciated! Thank you.

Wish I could help you, as I haven't had any issues logging in to our MiFi, even before I changed the default password (listed on back of MiFi) to my own personal password. Have you used a browser to access the Mifi via 192.168.1.1, login "admin" and changed any parameters such as the security protocols or enabled MAC filtering? Our Mifi connects to our Touchs as far away as 120 feet as long as there are no walls inbetween. In dense construction, we get a signal about 50 feet away.
At the Verizon site, you could post your question on the forum, but be prepared for very few responses, as it's a new product and the forum gets very little activity for MiFi questions.

  • Mifi and ps3 golf

When my friend and i hook up online to play tiger woods it will not let us play together.  I can play other people on line but not with him.  He also has a verizon mifi card.  I used a sprint mifi card and was able to play him.  Does anyone else have this problem?  It seems it will not let the two join online.  When he enters the room it kicks him out and vice versa.  Why only with the verizon card?  Any answers

You need to try to download at night when the tower is not busy and it will not inturrupt your download the reason you got a letter from verizon is because, if the download (downloads) partial it will erase and you will have to start over.

  • IPad Fails to connect to wifi, but shows the wifi icon

My company just installed a wireless network in our building.  I was very excited because I can finally use my iPad in meetings and ditch the IBM laptop.  However, it does not want to connect to the wireless network.  Let me try to explain what happens.
    BTW,
    1. It is a new network so all the routers have the most up to date firmware.
    2. I have tried to connect with my iPad2 and iPad both without success.  The iPad was recently wiped clean and set up for my son.
    3. I can connect to my home network, my sprint mifi card, and other networks (hotels, starbucks) with no problem.
    4. Laptops can connect with out issue to the network.
    5. Others have been able to connect their iPhone to the network.
    6. One other person could not connect their iPod Touch to the network.  He gets the same response that I do.  I don't know anyone else with an iPad that works in my building.  However see item two above.
    7. It is using WPA security.
    8. I have reset network settings numerous times on both iPads and rebooted both iPads numerous times.
    9. I am able to connect to another wifi network in our building.  Both networks use the same security and password.
    This is what happens:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose my companies wireless network.
    2. It asks for the password and I type it in (Trust me I am typing it in correctly.  I have done it about a hundred times now.)
    3. Recieve the message "Unable to join the network," I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
    4. I get the Checkmark next to the wireless network I just tried to join.  If you click the blue arrow I get an IP address, but NO "Forget This Network" Option.  I also have the wifi icon next to the word iPad in the upper left corner of the screen.  It will also not load any Safari pages.  Safari states "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet."
    I have also tried:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose "Other."
    2. Type in the SSID name and choose WPA, Type the password.
    3. Hit "Join" & get the message "Could not find the network"
    4. I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
Please help.  I have read many articles on this forum and tried everything without success.

If you are getting a 169... IP, then you are not connected. That is a self-assigned IP that the iPad is giving itself because the router is not giving it one.
Is it possible that you are not selecting the correct WPA security protocol for your network?

  • CS6 sign-in problems on Mac OS

I am having the exact same problem.  I have installed CS6 on my iMac.  I typically connect via a managed network, however to rule that out as a possible problem I connected via my Sprint MiFi.  Same results.  Still get the same error message.  Cannot connect.

FishAByte at this point I would recommend contacting our support team and working with them directly.  For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.  Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issue you have described.
I would appreciate it if you could update this thread with the resolution to help other users who maybe facing similar difficulties.

  • First mac ever... very slow internet and difficulty

mac book pro brand new tonight. I have a Sprint Mifi 220 wireless card. I have had card for about a year. I have to go back int the airport everytime to connect to internet. I did not have to do this with my dell. and it is slow as ****..

    Sprint's card compatible with Macs?

  • Tethering encryption

My sprint mifi sold with ipad was set up with standard security and asked for the mifi password exactly every 4 minutes for two weeks while i climbed the ladder of support (reload os software? Thanks, i didnt need that 4 hours!) then i reset security re:apple senior tech and no problemo, but mifi device and its replacement needed to be at sprint full time, burned whole in my leg, got over that, but it arbitrarily shut off/on ended up with $177.00 extra data charges that sprint will not adjust. So. When my new cell phone drives the ipad, will i have wpa issues?

I have the same problem as well.....I wonder if the problem is with the Playbook OS or a limitation with the phone....are people having this problem with other phones?
I notice also that its not just that the tethering disconnects...for me it seems the bluetooth connection is disconnecting and reconnecting

  • LWAPP AP over Cellular

What is the requirement for having an LWAPP ap join a controller over broadband cellular network i.e EVDO or HSDPA?
Has anyone been successful with this?
    Something for consideration:
I would love to see Cisco push a lite version of code with the CWAP or LWAPP capability to the new Verizon /Sprint MiFi device for road travelers.

thanks leolahoo, 5 points at ya for the link to how office connect works,
I found something of value on this latency issue, just need to understand Cisco' position (Best Practices) on using a broadband cellular ISP as the path for WAN connection from the remote home office.
    Configuring Link Latency
You can configure link latency on the controller to measure the link between an access point and the controller. This feature can be used with all access points joined to the controller but is especially useful for hybrid-REAP and OfficeExtend access points, for which the link could be a slow or unreliable WAN connection.

  • Searching for the cause of the wifi problem

I wonder if we can test one of the problematic iPads with the router of a person who claims to have no problem connecting from his or her iPad. I wonder if this problem is with all ipads and some routers or with some ipads and all routers or it happens with a specific batch of ipads which are used with some type of routers.
My iPad gets disconnected quite a few times a day with my d-link router but much fewer times with my Sprint MiFi card.

I have spoken to 60 or so folks with and without the problem
most have had the same problem and the fix I found worked in most cases see thread below http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2401779&tstart=0
There are others that had the problem fixed by changing the brightness (an issue when it comes out of sleep mode)

  • Verizon Mifi or Sprint Overdrive

Who has any feed back on these two systems, likes dislikes would be much appreciated. I wanted to wait for the 3G ipad but don't want to be limited as to what can be downloaded, one of these two systems sounds a little better not to mention being able to share the signal is a plus when you are on the move,

Streaming video will consume the 5GB allocation in fairly short order, but basic web surfing and email, along with managing the odd attachment, will not typically be a challenge for staying under the limit. Going over the 5GB is an expensive proposition at .05 per MB. That equates to $250 for the next 5 GB. Having used both, my thoughts are as follows.
Sprint - 4G unlimited/3G 5GB is a great plan if you are in a 4G coverage area. The device is larger than the MiFi from Verizon, and has user configurable security.
Verizon MiFi - Incredible coverage model, and the ability to down select to a slower speed when 3G is unavailable. Basically an always connected state if you want it to be. Very small device with approx 4 hour run time before recharge via USB.
The WiFi + 3G version of the iPad will not have a down select for speed. Unlike the iPhone, there is not Edge functionality built in, but $30 per month for unlimited data is a pretty sweet deal if you can live with the AT&T coverage area.

  • How do i change my macbook pro's security settings so that i am capable of connecting to my families "mifi" device

I just got my macbook and aside from using my iPhone i have no experiance with mac products.. I just got it home and wanted to go online and as i typed in the password a message pops up and says "the wi-fi network "MIFI" requires a WPA2 password. i called sprint because the hotspot was from them and they said that dont really have much they can do for me unless i bring the computer in to them. its 930 at night so obviously thats not an option. they told me how to see what i need to change it too on the macbook "wpa/wpa2 mixed code" but i tried to go into the open network preferences tab and it still didnt really make sense to me. So.. any answers?

Does your MBP recgonize the device? You should be able to just join the network, with wifi on, through the wifi bar in your menu. If it shows up, just select the network and use the router password to connect.

  • Unlimited MiFi Data Plan not "compatible" with 4G MiFi

I currently have a family plan that includes 2 Droid X’s, 2 non data cell phones and a 3g MiFi Card.
I pay $30 for each Droid data plans and $53 for my unlimited data MiFi plan.  I recently decided to try and cut
my Verizon plan payments down to a reasonable amount.  I decided to give up one of the Droid X phones that I was
using and switch back to a non-data cell phone. I can't see why I should pay for a $30 Droid data plan and $50 for MiFi.
I wanted to upgrade to 4G MiFi and use it with my IPod Touch and laptop. To save $30, but when I went to
upgrade the MiFi, I was told my unlimited data plan would not work with the 4G MiFi plan and if I wanted to upgrade,
I would have to change to the 5G or 10G plan.
I have had the unlimited data plan since 2006.  I started out with the V640 Express card then in 2008 upgraded to
the Verizon USB760 EVDO Rev A modem and in 2010 the MiFi 2200. Nothing has ever been said about my unlimited
    plan until this upgrade.
The nice Verizon rep told me that the unlimited data plan is not “compatible” with the 4G data plan.
Is that their way of saying “we are really trying to force you out of your grandfathered unlimited data plan”?
I have been so happy with Verizon all these years. But, if the only way I can have unlimited data with Verizon is
to stay with 3G, should I maybe start looking into the Sprint unlimited data plan?

I'm having the same problems. Sounds like they want more money to me.  I started out with the usb thing several years ago.
Data is data.  They should have to accept our plans.
