AppleTV stops during playback on owned movies

Been happening for months through different updates.
Essentially what happens is:
- I turn on my mac
- I then turn on my TV & AppleTV
- I start watching a video
- Somewhere in the playback the video stops and the message "Please turn on homesharing to watch blah blah" comes up.
- I go to my mac and Homesharing is still "on"
- I turn off home sharing, then turn it back on and AppleTV sees my movies again.
At this point it usually works for 10-15 minutes but then the same thing happens again and again.
This has been happening for several months. One interesting thing - it rarely happens with rented movies, only with movies I own and stream through my computer. I've turned off Sleep mode but no change.
Thoughts?

Any security software that might be blocking repeat AppleTV <> computer communications ?

I rented a long movie and it continues to stop during playback, how do I fix that?

    Hi dedesgirl,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue playing songs in iTunes. Does the playback issue only occur with specific tracks and were they purchased from the iTunes Store? Take a look at the article linked below and try the suggestions which will resolve most iTunes and QuickTime Player playback issues.

  • ITunes stops during playback and won't start until I restart the computer

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I just reformated my computer and placed all the updates and programs back onto my computer. I had iTunes on my computer before and I reinstalled it then upgraded it to version 7.3.2.6. Now I've been reintroducing music back into the library on a folder by folder method (drag and drop). Anyway, during review of the songs I will get a random issue where the iTunes just stops during playback. I have shut down the program and restarted it. I've also shut down the following programs at different times to see if it would help:
iPodService, ITunes.exe (the program), iTunesHelper, and even taskmgr.exe. Nothing seems to help. When I restart the program I click on play (any song or playlist) and nothing happens. The only thing that I have found to help is rebooting my computer. Does anyone have any ideas?
I've check the event logs and nothing is showing in there and other programs are working without an issues.
    Please help!

Any suggestions on what this can be?

What is causing and how do you fix a song stopping during playback? I have latest iTunes 12.0.1 and Yosemite 10.10.1.
It stops then after several seconds (like 25 secs) then it starts again ... and then several seconds later it stops again!
I have the latest software so I don't know what to do?

  • Movies & Episodes stopping during playback

Has anyone else have any issues with the iPhone during video playback? I got the free version of the new Terminator series and downloaded Transformers toady. During playback of Terminator (20 minutes) it cut out to the file selection screen. During playback of Transformers it cut out again halfway through the movie. {post edited by moderator}.
Does anyone have any insight as to stop this from happening?

How much free storage space do you have available on your iPhone?
I have never experienced the same.
Standard troubleshooting procedures in order are power the iPhone off/on, Reset by pressing and holding the Home key and Sleep/Wake or On/Off key simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so which doesn't affect and data or settings, Restore and if no change after any and all, give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at a local Apple Store to have this checked if there is one nearby.

  • Sound stops during playback

Running the latest version of CS6 (current on all updates) on a Mac Mini i7 2.3GHz with 16GB RAM running OS X 10.8.2.
Whenever CPU usage starts to get a little heavy, sound will go silent at random times during playback of timeline in the program monitor.  Meters go to zero when sound goes out and go active when sound returns.  Video playback is fine and there are no dropped frames.  This also was happening on my previous machine, a 2008 Mac Pro.  Started happening with CS6 and never happened in CS5.5.
All my source footage is h264 from a Canon 5D.  Sequence was created by doing the 'create sequence from clip' command.  Program monitor resolution is set at 1/4.  Played with setting audio hardware buffersizes to different values but with no change in behavior.

I'm having the same problem on an editing workstation with CS6. The audio will stop playing after 4-5 seconds, video plays fine. The timeline has been rendered. If I hit the stop/pause key, (spacebar), and hit it again, it will play for another 4-5 seconds before the audio drops out. Sometimes only one audio track will stop playing.
Video is 720P, two audio tracks, three video tracks.  System is win 7-64 with an intel I7 extreme CPU, 12 GB RAM (9GB dedicated to Premiere, performance mode)
    Any suggestions?

  • Video downloaded directly to iPhone stops during playback

I downloaded a video from the iTunes store directly to my iPhone 3Gs. Now during playback, it stops
at a particular point and will not continue playing. Of I try to drag the scrubber forward in the video, it snaps back to the point where it stopped. What could be the problem with this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance,

find the file in iTunes (you may need to sync it if you downloaded directly to the iPhone), then click on it, and then click on "file -> get info" on the menu bar. go to the "options" tab and see if the "end time" is something besides the actual end time of the file. that's the only thing i can think of that would cause this issue.

  • Itunes on my Windows XP after downloading ver. 10.5, starts & stops during playback

Yesterday I upgraded my itunes to 10.5. At first I couldn't upgrade because the old version wouldn't delete the old version to install 10.5. After much help from Dell, we finally got 10.5 to install but it stops & starts during playback several times during a song. How do I fix this?

The error message I receive does not identify the file or feature. I have tried to uninstall iTunes through Control Panel, but that also results in a similar error message.
If you're getting sschap's message when uninstalling iTunes, that usually narrows things down to trouble with the iTunes.msi.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I Tunes freezing and running very slowly. Songs stopping during playback.

I just downloaded the latest I tunes update, now it's running even slower than it was yesterday and this message keeps popping up "The I Tunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred. (-50)" It has been getting worse and worse, it keeps stopping during the playing of songs and now is having a very hard time downloading purchased music from the I Tunes Store. I am very afraid I am heading for a BIG crash. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I Tunes is freezing and it takes several minutes to come back on a play 15 seconds worth of a song and then it quits again. This is very frustrating as I have spent hundreds of hours in I tunes and the music is very important to me, as I am sure it is to everyone!

    Hi!
I'm a little confused by your response...what exactly do you mean when you state that the files in question won't "leave the music folder area"?
In the meantime you might run Disk Utility (in "Utilities" in the "Applications" folder) and repair permissions.
Also "get info" on the respective files and examine whether the "locked" checkbox is checked or not( make sure it isn't). While you're there, also check "ownership and permissions" to ensure that "read and write" are selected.
    Let me know!

  • After about 30 seconds, my sound is stopping during playback.

I've tried to export my video for use on Computers, but everytime I do, the playback stops after about 30 seconds of playing no matter if I start from the beginning of the video, or click ahead to start from the middle on Windows Media Player. I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 12. Please help me figure this out - it is so frustrating.

    KMB418
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed on?
Before export, how does the Timeline play back in the Edit area monitor (video and audio)?
What is your export - mp4, .mov, wmv, flv, .avi etc....? Have you tried other players, like the VLC player?
But, let us start at the beginning....
What are the properties of your source media? What is the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the source?
How are you getting that source into the Premiere Elements project and what are you or the program setting as the project preset. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio (even if they look grayed out).
The project preset description should match the properties of your source.
Now for the export...what are you selecting under Publish+Share/assumed Computer/. And what are you setting as the preset for your choice? Are you using the default settings for the preset or are you customizing them under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Please supply more details. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Music starts and stops during playback of burned DVD

I really need help with this problem...I made a slideshow and added music from itunes in the program IDVD. Once I burned the DVD the music will start and stop throughout the DVD and not at chapters as I read in other threads - but in random places on the DVD. The DVD sounds like it gets hung up and then starts again. This is my first project using IDVD, so any help would be great.

    Debra,
Do your project have music purchased from iTunes? If so, that could be the cause of this problem. Music from iTunes is DRM-protected and can cause problems in playback. To take care of this, first burn all of your purchased music to a CD, then reimport in an aiff format. To do this, in iTunes, go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing. Look for "Import using", and use the drop-down menu to select AIFF encoder.
    Good luck.

  • SWF stops during playback

Working with a 5.5 project and have inserted an animation (SWF). This was supplied to me by the client, and is a simulation captured in 5.5. I have the timing set to the duration of the animation, and the SWF itself is the entire slide, so there is no conflict on the timeline.
It just stops playback of the sim. I can run  it from my desktop just fine, but when embedded, it stops (and interestingly enough, not always at the same place).
    Insights?

Nesting Captivate SWFs inside other Captivate SWFs is not a recommended practice for exactly the reasons you are discovering.
The better way to do this is to copy the slides from your simulation into the project rather than inserting the published simulation SWF.

  • Apple TV Radio stopping during playback

Recently, when listening to stations within Radio on my Apple TV, the station will stop playback and the Error Loading Content message will appear.  This happens for all stations I have tried, I am able to restart the playback but the message (and playback stoppage) will reoccur within a few minutes.  This seems to have started with the most recent software update.  Does anyone have a fix for this?  Thanks.

    Hey there A.Wheels,
It sounds like you are unable to consistently stream Apple TV Radio since it keeps disconnecting. I would start by restarting the Apple TV with this process:
Apple TV: How to restart your Apple TV
Restart your Apple TV by selecting Settings > General > Restart.
If the issue then persists, I would next use the following article to troubleshoot the Wi-Fi connection with the afticle, named:
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Stop during viewing of HD-movie in stream mode

    Ladies and gentlemen,
I had problems with Apple TV
    Chart of my connecting:
    *Apple TV <–> AirPort Extreme (802.11n ( n-only )) <–> iMac 24 (C2D) <–> external HDD WD MyBook 750 gb (FW800)* .
    I convert a HD-movie from the .mkv ( +KLCP Matroska File , Video: MPEG4, (H264) 1280x544, 23.98fps, Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo, filesize 4,5 gb+ )
I convert a movie in Visualhub. In the parameters of this program specify that a format on an output must correspond the format of Apple TV. I get a Mp4-file
I plug Apple TV in the ”Streaming” mode, аnd begin to look a movie. Some time all shows fine, but in 10-15 minutes play is stopped (a picture is frozen, sound is stopped), after press pause/play, I can again continue viewing, but after a while problem will repeat again.
I noticed that precipices were halted 50% film, and stops take a place only at the active stages of film (moving car, explosions, or any other quickly-moving objects)
I will be beholden for elucidations of my question.
    With kind regards
    Message was edited by: megadzilla

Actually that isn't what I suggested.
I suggested you convert from matroska to DV and then from from DV to .m4v
If there is an error in your conversion from matroska to h364 with visualhub that error won't disappear by reconverting it.
If you don't wish to try what I suggested, open one of the files you are having trouble with in QT, open the inspector window and tell us what it says, I suspect it will seem OK but we can have a look and see.
Of course your problem could be a slow network, but if you don't wish to diagnose your problem it likely won't get solved.
