AppleTV unable to authorize

This seems like a common bug. I've tried all of the "fixes" that apple suggests. Deauthorize/reauthorize, rebuild library, restore factory settings, etc. My photos will sync but any purchased content will not. Yes, I can view trailers. I'm glad that I only bought a few songs and one TV show before realizing that it's not going to work. Been working on it for four days solid. I'm hoping my wife can take it back to Best Buy for a refund.

I had this problem with my wife's iphone... Purchased content would not sync. I realized she had never played any purchased content on the computer, so it was not authorized even though she had purchased the content. once she played one song on the actual computer where the library resides (itunes asked her to authorize the computer) she was then able to sync. maybe your appletv issue is the same?

  • I have 5 devices authorized to my itunes account. 2 of them crashed but I am unable to authorize my new pc. From what I can see it looks like I may have to "deauthorize all" and then re authorize my current devices? Please help!

I have 5 devices authorized to my itunes account. 2 of them crashed long ago.  Now that I have a new pc, I am unable to authorize it.  I think from what I've read that I should "deauthorize all" and then go back and authorize my current 3 devices.  Is this correct?  I have tons of music and need to make sure I won't lose anything.  I would sure appreciate the help!  Thanks!!!

    No that is not correct.
Devices do not count toward the 5.  Authorization is only for computers, not iphone/ipod/ipad/Apple tv.
You do not authorize or deauthorize devices at all.
If you have reached the limit of 5 authorized COMPUTERS, then deauthorize all and the authorize the active COMPUTERS.

Note: After i erase when i connected my phone to itunes i choose the option set up a new phone because i did not want to restore and get old setings in my phone!!! Kindly help!!!

Do you have the latest version of iTunes?
Was your computer ever used to hack or jailbreak any Apple product? If so the software you used corrupted your computer's network database. You will have to correct the problem in your Hosts file.

  • I purchased a book and downloaded the book on my pc, but I am unable to authorize and transfer this to my other devices

As mentioned above, I purchased a book and downloaded it on my pc, but I am unable to authorize and transfer this purchase to my other devices.  I downloaded bluefire reader per online instructions and added the pdf book file to this app on itunes.  When I attempt to authorize the purchase by entering my adobe id, it doesn't work, the authorization window clears the fields I just entered, I enter the information again and the same result.

I tried reviewing my account information but it just came out on itunes home page without showing any thing....

If you have exceeded your allowance of 5 machines then Apple will not allow you to authorise additional Computers. If you still have access to your old toshiba fire it up de-authorise it and then try again with the new computer.
While this won't help if you are having password problems, I did want to point out that you do not need to access old machines to de-authorize them. Once you are signed in at the iTunes store, access "my account" by clicking on your username in the top navigation bar. Then "manage devices".  You can remove any old machines that way.

    Thanks, Richard

For a computer running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
For a computer running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
The Deauthorize Computer function is also in the Store menu.

  • New podcast app says unable to authorize, please contact customer service, is that apple or the podcast provider?

podcast app says unable to authorize your account, please contact customer service, is that apple or podcast provider?

In my case, it is a response from ITUNES.  I don't have any problems downloading from the site, or accessing the site from any of my devices.  But once I get episodes into ITUNES and try to synch, either by USB or WIFI, the Apple devices refuse to play them.  My IPOD Touch shows "no unplayed episodes", and my IPAD is the one that shows the warning "Unable to authorize".  From both devices, I can manually access the website and download the podcasts as MP3's and play them one at a time, but they never show up in my Podcast library on ITUNES.

  • Unable to authorize account

I'm unable to authorize my iTunes account on my computer. Trying to do so results in a message containing "The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable, please try again later" popping up.
Weird thing is that I have no problems if I authorize a different account. Authorizing my account on a different computer also works just fine. I've tried removing iTunes completely (with quicktime and all) and authorizing while my firewall is turned off. None of this helped and I still can't authorize my account on this computer.
I got this error when trying to download items as well but was able to fix this. It was related to Bonjour not starting up correctly.
    OS is Windows 7 x64

Tried Hard but unable to authorize as it ask again and again for account details...any solution

not sure if you found a solution, but i am currently having a problem with playing "street fighting man" on beggars banquet. i'm continuously being asked to authorize my computer, and when i do, the song doesn't play and i'm still asked to authorize my computer.
i have followed the steps described in the apple support page "itunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play itunes store purchases" and none of them worked.  i have a PC- windows 7 and the current itunes 10.6.
on my itunes email receipt there is a link "report a problem" and i went through the series of forms and dialog boxes to report a problem. under account, purchase history, one can report a problem of a purchase.

  • TS1389 I'm unable to authorize my computer and don't see any of the prompts they say will show up in my Store Menu

I'm unable to authorize my computer and don't see any of the prompts (i.e.Authorize this computer, etc.) that they say should appear under Store Menu.  Also songs aren't transerring to my ipod, which is why I deauthorized the computer, hoping to restore it, in the first place.

    About authorization and deauthorization

  • Unable to authorize itunes

We migrated our daughter's older macbook to a newer macbook (but not brand new). She is unable to play any of her purchased music from Itunes. Itunes will not allow her to authorize the "new" computer, saying that she already has 5 computers authorized which is not the case. She only has one itunes account so that is not the issue. Any suggestions?

Did you make sure that you authorized the computer again? You have to re-authorize it after a de-authorization.
In iTunes, go to the "Store" menu, and select "Authorize Computer" from the menu.
Follow the instructions and that should take care of it.
If you have already authorized the computer after deauthorizing it, then chances are the tune is from another account. For example, say you daughter has her own account, and you have some songs on your computer that were downloaded from her account. Unless she authorized your computer using her account, then the music will not play back. If you can figure out which account it was purchased under, then you can authorize your computer using that account and it will play.
    Good luck!
    Jim
