AppleTV won't stream all music

I recently set up a AppleTV for my neighbor and we are having problems getting all of the music to show up on his Apple TV.
First his set-up. PC laptop with Vista (very slow computer), iTunes 9.0.2, Apple TV 3.0, very large music library (400+ Gigs). Connect via ethernet.
When setting up iTunes and the AppleTV, we chose to stream all music. When done syncing, the AppleTV only shows about 1/2 of the total tracks. Back to the drawing board... I looked at the files and all are mp3 files and all files play in iTunes without a problem. For example, on the AppleTV there were 4 Aerosmith albums, but there are 8 in iTunes. I made sure all boxes were "checked" in front of the songs. I even converted a few songs to a different format. No luck getting them to show up on the AppleTV via syncing.
Next step, factory restore on AppleTV. Again, no luck. This time a different number of tracks stream and it was even a smaller number than before! Even some tracks there were there before the restore are now gone?
Any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out. I've had my AppleTV for a very long time. I have never had a problem such as this. I also have a large library, but primarily focused around movies from my DVDs. So, I have the same size, but vastly smaller number of total files. Is there a max cap on this thing?

Try Repopulating itunes with some of the content that doesn't show up, don't forget to sync afterwards.
If this helps you might want to rebuild his itunes library.

  • IPod won't sync all music to iTunes

I recently got a new Macbook Pro and needed to transfer over all of my music on iTunes from my old laptop. My iPod Touch has enough space to hold my entire iTunes library, so I synced it with the iTunes library on my old laptop, got everything onto it, and then synced it with my new Macbook Pro.
However, the iTunes on my Mac refuses to sync any music from my iPod that was not purchased from the iTunes store at some point. 75% of my music is from CDs and so 75% of my music will not transfer from my iPod to my iTunes.
I can't adjust anything on the tab on iTunes for syncing all music/entire library because I get a message saying if I do this all of the content on my iPod will be erased and replaced with what is currently in iTunes, which is barely anything.
All I've ever done is fought with iTunes every single time I try to do anything significant with it and I'm sick of it. I don't understand why iTunes won't simply take all the music from my iPod and put it into the library. That's all I want.
Please, can anyone help me with this?

OK after a long night I think I have answered my own question. I hope this helps others who may have experienced the same level of frustration I have.
If your music won't download from iTunes to your iPod because it is not 'authorised' see if this helps.
Go to the album or song that is not 'authorising'. Select it and push play. It should ask you for authorisation or a username and password. Put in your username and password, it should then go to iTunes store and it will now be authorised.
Be careful not to make the same mistake that I made and have multiple iTunes Store accounts. Mainly because I think it creates these problems on transfer of your library and secondly because you may not remember the password. If you forget the password, then simply get iTunes store to resend it. The only problem may be if your email account no longer exists. Mine does, so not sure what happens if it doesn't.
This in itself may not fix the problem either. I noticed on the left hand side of the music library, met to the song names etc, the '!" symbol in the column. This will also prevent it copying to your iPod. I am not technical, but it seems it lost the file path in transfer. Just double click the song and it will ask you if you want to find the path. Click yes and then search through iTunes library until you find the song. Double click the song and bingo you should now be able to transfer the music.
It took less time for me to finish by Business Degree, but its the only way I found to get around all the authorisation problems
    Hope this helps

  • Replacement ipod arrived. Won't synch all music in library

40 gig ipod replacement arrived - tried to synch with Windows XP Dell at home and only some songs are synching. When I play a song in iTunes on the computer, it downloads that song the next time I synch to the iPod. All music in the library is either burned from my CDs or purchased on itunes. about 2,500+ songs not sycnhing so I don't necessarily want to listen to them all and then synch them next year when done. Please smart people, help me?

    hi MoFoJ!
EDIT: (sigh) just realised that i'm giving advice for a diferent operating system ... sorry about that ... but it still seems worth a try.
can you get a song to download if you only listen to it for a few seconds? that can work sometimes on Windows boxes. see for example the second part of this user tip:
Scott P: iTunes won't transfer purchased music to iPod
... still not an ideal solution, though, given that you've got over 2000 of them. that's a lot of doubleclicking of tracks in your itunes library ...
(anyone else have a better solution? better still, one that's based on experience with a Mac?)

My Nano won't sync all the music in my library. I get an error message saying the songs cannot be found, but they are all listed in my playlists. There are 100 songs that won't sync. I had to move my Ipod from my laptop to my desk top.

  • Exported Slideshow to Quicktime Won't Play All Music

I've just finished a slideshow that I've exported to Quicktime in iPhoto 5. When I play the slideshow from iPhoto, the two music pieces I've selected from a folder in iTunes (the two tunes are the only items in the particular folder I've selected), only the FIRST song plays in the Quicktime movie -- the second half of the slideshow is mysteriously quiet. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Anne

    Hi annelouise,
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

  • Apple TV not streaming all music

    Hi!
I have a 40GB ATV. I have a large music collection on cd that I finally ripped to CD (it took months). It's about 420GB, ripped mostly at 256 KPBS.
It's about 1900 artists, many thousand of albums (7500+) and many many thousands of songs.
    My iTunes shows everything. Cool.
ATV will not show anything past some album in 'S'.
Is there a capacity issue at hand here? Does anyone else see the same issue?
    Thanks for any help!

I downloaded itunes 6.0.5 and now when i update my 4 yo 20GB ipod it says: Some of the items of the iTunes music library were not copied to the iPod because your iPod software is too old. And then it tells me to go to apple.com to update - Then, it does not update any purchased music.

Have you run the iPod Updater? You will need a minimum of OS X 10.2.8 to do so.

  • Zen Micro won't rip all music from

Hey I just bought i creative ZEN micro about a month ago and started ripping a bunch of my CD's to it. Any ways, after awhile i started to notice that some of the songs that were supposed to be on there from that CD were not anywhere on the MP3 player or anything. So i figured i guess it just didn't copy that one song and messed up or something because it ripped all the other songs from the CD. So i go back to try to rip that one song again and it will not rip it no matter what i do.
It happens on CD's every once and a while and i can't find a reason why. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before and if they got it fixed through a firmware update (I haven't gotten that yet) or if it was a player problem and had to send the whole thing back to creative and get a new one. From what I can tell it seems like it isn't the player, but i don't know. I'm really just clueless on what to do next because if I can't rip all my songs this seems like a waste to me. I just hope it turns out to be an easy fix lol.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
    Mike D.

yes that is what i am using. If it makes a difference the one song i'm trying right now that doens't work is the song ocean from the cold cd "a different kind of pain" It acts like its ripping it but when it gets to the end it seems like its done and i check the player but it hasn't been added.

  • HT1386 why all music wont sync on iPhone 5

Why the Iphone 5 won't sync all music and why do i have a large strage for other?

If you want all the songs from an artist on your phone you can to to the artist view, tap on the artist, scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see a Download All button.  This works for playlists and albums too (scroll to the bottom and tap the Download All button).  I suppose if you wanted all your music on your phone you could create a smart playlist in iTunes on your computer that would contain all your music, upload it to iTunes match (Store>Update iTunes Match), and then you would get a Download All button at the bottom of this playlist on your phone to download all your songs.

  • Music from CDs that is on my iPod won't transfer to my iTunes library on a different computer I used to use but all music bought from iTunes will? How do I fix this?

In the past to get music from CDs onto my iTunes library and onto my iPod was all easy and fine, as you would know if you have done such a thing before. I used to use a different laptop for all my music stuff to the desktop I have to use now as the other one is broken. It is an authorised computer on my iTunes, so my issue has got nothing to do with that. When I got this desktop (it is quite an old one, if that makes any difference), i had to download iTunes and put all my music into my library to back it up.
However, all music that I had bought physically that is currently on my iPod (CDs) WON'T transfer into my new library on the desktop, but all music that I had bought digitally (iTunes) WILL transfer.
This has led to about 300 missing songs in my library and means I can't transfer all of my music onto a different device (as I am trying to transfer all my music onto an iPhone 3).
I have tried countless things. All of that "File > Devices > Transfer purchases" stuff WILL. NOT. WORK. I tried copying the music into a file on the desktop and then adding said file into the library, but it won't let me paste any music.
If someone were to help me in transferring the music I so dearly love then I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you

  • I previoulsy have adding many CD to my iTunes music library and then synched them with my iPhone so that I have all music in both places. And I could the CDs in iTunes or iPhone with no problems. Recently, my iTunes "sees" the music but won't play it. Why

I have added many CD to my iTunes music library and then synched them with my iPhone so that I have all music in both places. Then I could the play them in iTunes or iPhone with no problems. Recently, my iTunes "sees" the music library but won't play any of it becuase "the original could not be found". If I attach my iPhone, then it pays them through the iPhone, but still not through the library in iTunes. How can I get the music library on my iPhone to transfer (i.e. restore it) to iTunes? I have iPhone 4S but have not upgraded to the iOS 6, and have not had any problems until last week.  Help!  Thanks.

Check the manual for whatever backup program you used, or, if you just copied the files over, copy them that.

  • ITunes won't sync all of my music to iPhone 4s

iTunes won't sync all of the music, it is skipping random songs, they still come up on the Music on the phone but cannot be played.. If anyone knows how to fix this please help.

Was this music purchased from iTunes or ripped? I have had problems in the past when I changed Apple IDs, and the content purchased through my previous account would not sync. If memory serves, I think it was an issue to do with the Mac not being authorised to access my old account. Signing in with my old account and authorising it resolved it. Not sure if this helps, but thought I would share.
