Appleworks 6, how do i resize a document?

help... i need to create a document with 6 x 9 dimensions and cannot figure out how. it seems this would be very simple. so far i cannot change the page size from 8.5 x 11 to 6 x 9. i have a doc. template which creates a 6x9 when opened in appleworks but when i change the margins it is resized to 8.5 x 11. very strange.....

just seems like since most professional apps such as word, quark, indesign, can easily resize the document dimensions, apple works could do it too, but i guess its not meant to be a professional product.
decided to change apps, that way the fonts will be embedded anyway.
cheers

  • How do I resize a document

    I want to resize a poster in A2 format down to A5 (pdf) for attaching to emails.
    What is the simplest way to do that?
    Thanks!

    Well, it seems that by sending an email to hotmail /gmail adresses (where the email is recieved in a browser and not in an email application), the attachment size does matter - in the way it appears on the screen.

  • I am using a doc formatted on excel --- how do i resize the doc to fit on one page?

    I am using a document that was formatted in excel (on a PC) --- how do i resize the document to print on one page?

    Hi phylw,
    Here is one way. View > Show Print View. At the bottom of the window is a slider control called Content Scale. Slide to the left to shrink the document.
    Under File > Print... you will see a print preview that tells you how many pages the document now occupies.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Resizing a document when making a pdf

    How do I resize a document that is originally 11X17 to be 8.5 X 11 (similar to "print to fit") when I am exporting an InDesign document to PDF?
    When I used Quark, I created pdf's by going through the print window and was able to downsize my document to fit 8.5 X 11 paper.
    Is there a way to do that with InDesign?

    I do have Acrobat installed. I know how to use Distiller (the old fashioned way).
    I know how to create pdfs through the print window, as I said, this is the way I created pdfs from my Quark documents...I just do not have this option in the current version of InDesign. I switched from Quark because I wanted to "upgrade" because I thought InDesign would be more efficient.
    But as with any change of system/software/procedure, there's always kinks to work through and this is one that's giving me grey hairs.
    I have a 24 page newspaper that I upload to our website but the general public usually doesn't have access to a printer that can print 11X17 pages. Also, a smaller physically sized document takes up less space on the web server. Therefore, I need to find a way to change the size of the document in a way that is not more time consuming than it used to be. Otherwise, I might have to consider switching back to Quark which would be unfortunate because I really like InDesign.

  • How to resize a document and its contents?

    I'm having some trouble resizing a single page, and a single part of that page, on my document.
    First the details: My page dimensions are 800 x 1200. On top of that black background, there's textured layer measuring 760 x 130 at the top (for website's name/logo/misson statement) and 760 x 990 below (for site's content and graphics). There are 20 px borders (between textured layer and background) at the top and sides, and 10 px border at the bottom. The 50 px gap between the top and main textured areas is for the navigation bar.
    Now the problem: I want to resize just one page to 800 x 1250 px. And to complicate things, I only want to grow the bottom part by those 50 px, so that that textured layer measures 760 x 1040  (I have to add something to that page's main content, so I don't want to affect the size of either navigation bar or site's name/logo).
    Adobe instructions (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Fireworks/10.0_Using/WSAE41683F-ED20-4488-9389-79DC28BD7CE0.ht ml) haven't been much help. I go to Modify > Canvas > Image Size, change to 1250 pixels, click off "constrain proportions" and click on "resample image" and "current page only." When I do that, it does enlarge both the black background and the textured layer to the size I want. But it also:
    1. Changes the entire page -- that is, it grows the nav bar and logo areas as well as the main content section.
    and, strangely,
    2. The textured layer on my two dozen other pages grows, but not the black background. In other words, I change both the background and layer size on the page I want to modify, but I inadvertently grow only the textured layer (but not background) on all of my other pages. (So the texture on all of those other pages now spills off the black background.)
    So my question: How can I resize only the main content's background and textured layer on one page? Is it even possible?
    Many thanks to anyone who can help. And my apologies for the lengthy explanation.  But I'm new to webdesign and Adobe Fireworks, and I wanted to be as clear as possible about the problem.
    PS If it matters, I'm using Fireworks CS4

    Thank you, Pixlar. However, I couldn't adjust the rectangle as you suggested, as it was on my master page. That was the problem I was having: Both the canvas and the texture layer I put on it (ie, the rectangle) were on the master page. I wanted to change the dimensions of both canvas and rectangle on only one page. Following Jim's suggestion, I was able to change the canvas, but not the rectangle (at least,not without adjusting the master page, which would have affected the layout of twenty other pages).
    I finally decided to follow your other suggestion: Delete the old one and start over.
    Thank you again for your help. Nice having a forum like this to turn to.

  • I read that Lion will not support my Quicken and/or Appleworks.  How am I going to use my financial data and my documents?

    I have read that Lion will not support Quick and/or Appleworks.  How am I to continue to use my financial data and documents?

    I posted this answer to the same question about AppleWorks in the AppleWorks community two days ago.
    I use iWork. The iWork applications - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - can only open AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing & spreadsheet documents, respectively. They will not open any other type of AppleWorks 6 files or any AppleWorks 5 or any version of ClarisWorks files.
    The third-party application, EazyDraw, can open AppleWorks draw documents. If you still have access to AppleWorks you can copy the contents of draw documents, paste them into an AppleWorks word processing document in object mode (click the arrow in the tool panel), save the WP document & then open it in Pages. You can copy & paste from AppleWorks to Pages but you would have to do it object by object or it will be one big uneditable object. Check Yvan Koenig's iDisk for many AppleScripts he has written to make conversion easier. Most are made to do batch conversions.
    There is nothing other than AppleWorks that can open paint or database documents. Database data can be copied & pasted into an AppleWorks spreadsheet, saved & opened in Numbers or saved as ASCII/plain text & opened in most any spreadsheet, database or word processing program. Paint documents can be saved as one of many different formats to be opened in most image editing programs. I recommend using PICT or PNG for best results.
    For a replacement for Quicken, I've narrowed my choices down to SEE Finance, Moneydance or Jumsoft's Money. I need to work with them more before I make my final decision. Mac | Life suggests SEE Finance as the best option.

  • How can I resize a pdf page content with annotations and highlights in Acrobat Pro?

    How can I resize a pdf page content with annotations and highlights in Acrobat Pro while maintaining page size and annotation/highlight interactivity? I've tried to use the crop tool in Acrobat Pro (9) and the page does resize, but the highlights and annotations go all over the place. I specifically need to scale the page content smaller (83%) but maintain page size and annotation/highlight to content connection and interactivity.

    An old trick (not recommended) would be to print to a new PDF with the page size selected but a scaling of the content. Only print the document, not the markup, to a new PDF. Close that PDF when done and reopen the old one (or maybe a copy of the old one for safety) and use Document Replace pages and select the new document to replace your current pages. You will then have to go back through the markup to locate it all correctly. There may be a more elegant way, but this may be the fastest.

  • How do U resize a window in start up

    Im making an applet that draws somehting and my drawing is bigger than my applet i want to only view it in a n applet viewer so how do i resize the window automaticly so at start up i get a big enough window to fit my drawing in.

    try n add this in ur html file.
    hope it helps.
    An applets width and height properties are only available in Internet Explorer 4 - and then they are only read only.
    The only possible way is to trap the resize event using the documents onResize event handler in Netscape Navigator 4 and Internet Explorer 4 to reload the page:
    <HTML>
    <body onResize="document.history.go(0)">
    <applet width="100%" height="100%">
    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>

  • How can I resize the PDF I created with a magazine template?

    Hello! I used a template that`s a different size than what I need. How can I resize (make it smaller) the PDF that I just created with this magazine template?

    So you picked a template in A4 format, and now you need letter. The printer can scale the PDF to 11" and it will get even narrower, leaving large margins. Does it have bleeds? That woudl be a disaster.
    Frankly, the best thing is to start over using the correct page size, but you can go to File > Document Setup... in ID and change the shape of the exisiting file. Expect to do a lot of work moving and resizing objects and refitting the type.

  • Quickest way to resizing 30 documents

    I have 30 documents (all in all 400 odd pages) that all need completely re artworking to a smaller size - but not one that is the same proportions height and width. As a starting point I want to resize all documents to 50% - is there an apple script or similar software that will make this task simple.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thanks

    I would hesitate to let any script run rampage on this.
    By far the easiest way is one of printing the document to PDF and placing that, or directly placing the original ID document as image, into a new document of the correct size. But that restraints you to proportional sizing only -- your 50% should work fine, but if you enter a different scale for horizontal and vertical, you will see text and images distort. And (since you might ask), no, a script would not help here.
    There are a couple of scripts that place entire PDFs automatically (search in the script repository).
    There is no easy way to reformat a document. The only help you can get is by enabling Layout Adjustment, and its use is very limited. It does its work flawless when done with plain text only (say, a novel), but as soon as you have images and/or tables in floating boxes, it does resize them (in a haphazard way -- tables are not re-fitted) but no way it can keep them "on the same page as the reference", or something like that.
    If you are looking for the quickest way, and don't care about quality, go for proportionally resized PDFs (using a script). If you do care for some quality, do not resize them out of proportion -- and you can still use a script. But if you want to do any editing at all -- no matter how tiny -- you will have to resize and reformat the document manually, no way around it.

  • How do you trim a document in PSE 9?

    If elements or paper are larger than the document, how do you trim the document as a whole when finished?

    Duplicate the background layer, then shut off the visibility of this layer by clicking on its eye icon.
    Make the background copy layer active, and try CTRL+T
    Does that work?
    If you  want just a selection, rather than a global resize, you need to make a selection with one of the tools, and put it on its own layer.

  • How do I redirect  the "Documents" folder to a different partition?

    I have a separate data partition on my 10.5.1 MacBook and I want all my user data to live there. How do I redirect the "Documents", "Desktop" and "Downloads" folders to a different partition?

    As far as I know the desktop can't be assigned elsewhere. The others can be directed with the respective programs. I always keep my documents on another drive. I do it by using the saves as command and point to that directory. Then everything after that I can use there. For Downloads you just change it in preferences in Safari. Switch it in the *Save downloaded files to:* command.

  • How do i unprotect a document on a Ipad 2

    How do i unprotect a document on a Ipad 2?
    Some documents is unprotected but as soon as I open them up the edit function become not available anymore associated with the "lock" picture in the file name.
    This is SO annoying!!!?.
    Please help

    Would you explain what you mean by the "edit" function?  What are you trying to do?  Are you trying to edit existing annotations (sticky notes, highlight, freehand drawing, handwritten signature, etc.) or fill in a form?
    Would you check the document permissions of your PDF document on the desktop version of Adobe Reader?  (Sorry, you cannot get this information in Adobe Reader for iOS on your iPad.)
    Open your PDF document in the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a Windows or Mac computer.
    Press Command+D for Mac or Control+D for Windows to bring up the Document Properties dialog.
    Click the Security tab near the top of the dialog.
    Take a screenshot of the dialog.
    Add the screenshot to your next forum reply.  How do I insert an image or video and attach a file?
    Please do NOT send the screenshot as an attachment in email.  The Adobe forums do not accept file attachments.
    The Document Properties dialog has two sections.
    In the first section (Document Security), what is the value for "Security Method"?
    In the second section (Document Restrictions Summary), what are the items marked as "Not Allowed"?
    Here's the sample screenshot of the Document Properties dialog in Adobe Reader XI on Mac.
    Based on the document restrictions, we should be able to tell you whether or not you can perform the operation that you want.
    Thank you.
