Appleworks 6 quitting upon printing

Appleworks 6.2.9,
Tried to print, and it quit. "OSX 10, not effected..."
I then restart to clear system.
tried again, same result.
checked preferences folder, not there? Odd. Never had a problem w/it before.
Suggestions on uninstalling and reinstalling the disk??
Simple as clicking uninstall, then reinstalling?
If not, not too computer savvy, so don't leave steps out, please.

Hello
My guess (but it's only a guess) is that you may have some corrupted datas in the print record embedded in your file (this assumes that the file was already printed once).
If it's true, you may try to clean the file this way.
open it in AW6
Save As using the AppleWorks 5 format.
Close the original
open the newly created file in AppleWorks 6.
The new doc should be free of the old print record so we may hope that it will print flawlessly.

  • AppleWorks quits upon an attempt at data entry

Data entry in either an existing or new database or word processing document results in AppleWorks quitting following the 2nd keystroke (with the resultant Restart/Report window).
It appears this is limited to the WP and DB environments, although I seldom use the others, but in creating a new Spreadsheet or drawing/piant document, I'm allowed to create/edit without a failure.
I performed a complete uninstall, deleted the applicable 'recent', pref/plist files, etc. and reinstalled Appleworks 6.2.9 and the problem remained. In the WP or DB environment, new or existing document, following the 2nd keystroke, down goes AppleWorks.
Odd significance: This began immediately following a software update for Security Update 2006-007 and an iTunes update. I perused the forum and saw no other posts that appeared related. Anyone encountered, or heard. of these rather peculiar happenings?
iMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This is almost certainly due to using a unicode keyboard layout. See my user tip, Since upgrading to Tiger AppleWorks quits when I type, for more information.
Also, any time AppleWorks crashes there is some corruption of its preferences. It's always a good idea to delete the preferences before restarting AppleWorks. There's another user tip on this - AppleWorks has stopped working correctly.

  • CS2 Photoshop Quits Upon Printing

    Hi guys,
I am running an IBOOK G4 Mac OS X Version 10.3.9.
I have the Adobe Creative Premium Suit. Version 8.0
    The problem,
When I try to print on any printer; Epson or HP it will close on me. But if I print on Illustrator or Indesign it will let me. Also if I try to scan on my HP Photosmart C5100, and on my Photosmart C6200 it wont let me, it quits on me too. When it comes to working on Photoshop it works, but it's just once I try to print it quits on me.
Can you guys help me out I will appreciate it.
Thank you so much, for reading this.

Thanks for the advice. But it does not help.
What are 'com.apple.iCal.helper.plist' ? Should I wipe those too ?
    Best,
    Serge

  • Safari quits upon launch

I'm having a problem where Safari quits upon launch in panther. Mail and even an old version of Internet Explorer also quit upon launch. I tried deleting their preferences, running disk utility to repair disk permissions, using the software disk to run a hardware check, and Onyx to clean the cache. My other apple apps and 3rd party apps work fine, so it seems to only affect those apps which have to connect to the internet. Are there any suggestions?
By the way, if the ethernet cable is disconnected, the appilcations WILL launch, the menus will show, etc. but the apps all quit as soon as I reconnect the ethernet cable.

Well, I reapplied the combined updater but it didn't help. Both Safari and Mail crashed. Below is the crash report for Safari. Any other suggestions?

  • Adobe Apps Quit when printing

I am running 16 24' Imac core duo computers in my lab. Printing is managed by my G5 Server. All apple software is updated We are currently using Adobe CS, (waiting for CS3). Adobe products with exception of acrobat quit when printing. In my Imac G5 lab this is not occuring. All users must have accounts, home directeries are located on the server, each user has 2 gigs of space. Server has 6 gigs of RAM each Imac has 3 gigs of RAM. If you login as admin on workstation, printing is fine. Adobe apps quit when printing, project will print but apps quit. Already depressed cause my Packers did not make the playoffs
Could use some help (both me and my Packers:))
    thanks

    Hi
I think I have a solution to your problem – stop supporting the Packers and start supporting the Steelers. Once that happens you’ll find that all Adobe apps wont quit and will print OK.

  • When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have columns of different widths?

When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have a column of different width?
Case in point, the supplied avery labels in Appleworks does not have 8195. When I build one using custom design  I need a small column between column 2 and 3 to line up the info in columns 3 and 4. All the labels are 1.3/4 inch wide but I need to insert a column 1/4 wide to match up with the avery page....
    Any ideas???
    Thanks......
    ---warren

Well, the issue is that when you creat a custom width of 1.3/4 from the edge of the first label to the edge of label 2 all is good. The right and left margins were also set correct in AW. The Avery page, for some reason, has a small 1/4 inch column between the columns of label 2 and 3 therefore making the distance between the left edge of the label in column 2 and the right edge of the label in column 3 - a width of 2 inches and not 1.3/4.
I guess Avery wanted the page to look even.
    I did this work around.....
I created a custom lay out of 2 columns (not 4) with the correct width of 1.3/4 from label edge to label edge and the correct left side margin. After printing the first page I just turned the sheet 180 degress and printed the 2nd page to use all the labels on the Avery sheet. Since the upper and lower margin were the same it worked great....
"Great minds think alike"...   thanks for your suggetion

  • Drop Shadow is Causing a Colour Box to Appear Upon Print

I am in the midst of creating a brochure which I am wanting ot use some drop shadows on to create separation between colours.
I have noticed that in the three locations that i've used drop shadows (one is a white square shape, one is on font, and one is on a graphic with a transparent background) there is a light, almost transparent, box that is appearing upon print.  This box does not show up in any way on the .pdf, but appears when printed.
Is this an issue with my printer, or am I somehow causing an error with my drop shadow settings?

Sounds like it might be this: InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Eliminating YDB (Yucky Discolored Box) Syndrome
Are the background colors spot colors?

  • Suppress Fields Upon Printing

Is there a way of suppressing certain report fields upon printing?  These fields need to be visible when the report is viewed, but I only want to print some of them to small label printer (need to suppress unnecessary information as to not waste labels).
    Thanks in advance

    YOu will need to use a parameter such as {?Print}
User can select Y or N from your default settings.
Then use that parameters to suppress fields as required
    {?Print} = 'Y'
User will not ba able to print from the normal version, they will need to rerun report with this param set as Y

  • Printer won't quit after printing

After I print anything from my eMac to the HP laser printer it is hooked up to, the printer icon stays in the dock with the little arrow under it showing that it is open. It won't quit automatically; I have to manually go in and quit the printer. I tried looking in the dock and print preferences, but couldn't figure out how to get the printer to quit automatically once it is done. Any help would be appreciated, since this is a new computer in my school lab (although the machine itself isn't new), and the kids love to click on anything they see, so the less they see, the better.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
    I see.
Have you by chance set the Docked icon to Keep In Dock, found by clicking and holding down on the docked icon?
Furthermore you say the printer icon stays open showing a green arrow, so is that both the printer utility and the printer both showing in the dock?
i think normally, there should only be the printer utility, a green open printer symbol doesn't ring a bell, so to speak.

  • Compressor 2.3 Unexpectedly Quits Upon Batch Submission

Compressor quits upon batch submission when exporting a sequence/file from the FCP bin and also when dragging a file into the ui from the finder.
I have already tried the following fixes without any success:
Following the compressor KB article on how to unistall/reinstall compressor and qmaster and quadministrator.
    Uninstalling quicktime 7.1.6 and reinstalling
uninstalling FCP 5.1.2 (following a KB article) and compressor/qmaster/quadministrator and reinstalling all of the above software from the original discs.
Everything installed w/o a hitch. However, after all this, compressor still quits when i submit a batch.
I have tried different files and different settings and it still quits.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?
My best idea is just to buy ver. 3, but i need to get files up this evening and don't have time to get it until next week.

Yes I do have Verdana fonts (all four styles) and Tahoma (two styles) in TTF in my font folder. Not sure about the font management though...
How do I set all of the permissions properly for AI?
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • Sorry to beat a dead horse, iChat quits upon startup

I've read a few threads talking about reinstalling iChat with Tiger but haven't seen any clear instructions regarding Leopard. I have the same problems as others with iChat quitting upon opening it up. My G5 is currently using 10.5.2 and iChat is 4.0. If anyone has clear instructions on how to solve this problem I would greatly appreciate guidance/suggestions. I apologize in advance if this has been addressed in the past and I missed seeing the fixes.

    Here is the software overview
    System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.2 (9C7010)
    Kernel Version: Darwin 9.2.2
    Boot Volume: James HD
    Boot Mode: Normal
To confirm the version of iChat I am using I went to System Profilier> Software> Applications> iChat. This is what I found:
    iChat:
    Version: 4.0
    Last Modified: 2/6/08 10:14 AM
    Kind: Universal
Get Info String: 4.0, Copyright © 2002-2007 Apple Inc. All rights reserved. The Running Man logo is a trademark of America Online, Inc.
    Location: /Applications/iChat.app
Then I went to your link for the update, downloaded it then got a warning stating "HD does not meet minimum requirements"
I do not believe I have updated Time Machine or Airport. These are the current versions I am using. Again all info found in system profiler
    Time Machine:
    Version: 1.0
    Last Modified: 2/15/08 4:46 PM
    Kind: Universal
    Location: /Applications/Time Machine.app
    AirPort Base Station Agent:
    Version: 1.5
    Last Modified: 3/14/08 4:59 PM
    Kind: Universal
    Location: /System/Library/CoreServices/AirPort Base Station Agent.app
Thanks for the help. Hopefully this adds a few more clues to the problem.

  • AppleWorks quits when trying to open documents.

I'm having trouble opening any document I have saved on my Mac. Still fairly new to Macs (18 months or so) but loving it until I upgraded to Tiger this summer. Since then I have experienced a few applications quitting unexpectedly which is frustrating to say the least, iPhoto runs extremely slowly, and AppleWorks is the latest culprit. I cannot open any document which is saved to my Mac, unless it it one I created with AppleWorks. All document opened with no problem until just recently, but as soon as I click to open now I am greeted with the message "The application AppleWorks quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple." Clicking reopen does indeed open the application, but not the document. Even by going via File, Open through AppleWorks, and changing file format to all available does nothing. Am I just being extremely thick, or is something more sinister afoot?! And when I do send reports to Apple when applications quit like this, does the problem get registered and looked into for future development, or do people just laugh at me??!!!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'm having trouble opening any document I have saved
on my Mac. Still fairly new to Macs (18 months or so)
but loving it until I upgraded to Tiger this summer.
Since then I have experienced a few applications
quitting unexpectedly which is frustrating to say the
least, iPhoto runs extremely slowly, and AppleWorks
is the latest culprit. I cannot open any document
which is saved to my Mac, unless it it one I created
with AppleWorks. All document opened with no problem
until just recently, but as soon as I click to open
now I am greeted with the message "The application
AppleWorks quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other
applications are not affected. Click Reopen to
open the application again. Click Report to see more
details or send a report to Apple." Clicking reopen
does indeed open the application, but not the
document. Even by going via File, Open through
AppleWorks, and changing file format to all available
does nothing. Am I just being extremely thick, or is
    something more sinister afoot?!
Try deleting AppleWorks' preference files. Sometimes corruption of these files causes strange results.
See Peggy's User Tip explaining how to do this:
    <http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=505306&messageID=607287>
In addition, you should carry out the usual Mac OS X troubleshooting step of repairing permissions on your drive. It's recommended you do this before and after updating Mac OS X on your Mac.
This topic explains how to repair permissions:
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh17.html>
    And when I do send
reports to Apple when applications quit like this,
does the problem get registered and looked into for
future development, or do people just laugh at me??!!!
I doubt very much that anyone laughs at you. This is an automated system that requests the report, so the people receiving actually want it.
I don't believe AppleWorks bug reports will be looked into for future development. AppleWorks hasn't been updated in years and it's very likely it won't be updated every again - it is gradually being replaced by Apple's iWork productivity suite.
    Cheers.

  • Applications run slowly and quit when printing on a G5

I recently migrated applications, documents, and accounts from a G4 to a G5., both running OS X Tiger 10.4.9. Since migrating, many times a day there have been problems with it.
Applications (mostly FileMaker and Microsoft Word 2004) run a little more slowly than they should. Of more concern is how these applications will unexpectedly quit when printing. They will quit just before the print dialogue box is supposed to appear. It doesn't happen every time, but it shouldn't be happening at all. The printers used are all shared printers but not postscript-based printers.
I've tried a number of things (deleting the printers and adding them again, repaired permissions, updated software, deleted corrupt fonts, uninstalled MS Office & reinstalled, zapped PRAM) and nothing has helped.
I thought I'd ask here for any suggestions (since this looks like it might be a common enough problem) before I resort to reinstalling everything! Thanks!

Reinstall if deleting .plist files doesn't help. Seems that crashing on launch is common enough after the recent update http://www.macfixit.com
Backup. And whenever you do a clean install, back that up there and then, sparseimage works fine, and keep it handy if you need to restore.
I'd run First Aid and Disk Warrior.
I thought my printing problems began with the Security Update 2007-004 and went back to earlier image. Have not yet reapplied to test whether it would or not.
After spending a couple full morning trying various fixes, a restore or reinstall did the trick. I'd suggest the same.
