Appleworks dictionary move from iMac to Macbook

Help! I have read as many forum responses as possible but none seem to be specific to my problem. Maybe I am missing something right in front of my face. I have a new Macbook and moved my Appleworks program from my Mac OS X successfully, I thought, except for the dictionary won't transfer. Any help would be appreciated. I happen to like this for word processing and without the spell check feature it is a hassel to move every document to another program, check and then move back.
Thanks!

Hello Barry
The name you gave are for pre 6.2 versions.
Since AW 6.2 the US dictionaries are:
English - Spelling
USA91.THS
English - Hyphenation
ENGPHON.ENV
The "International English" dictionaries are:
BRT55.THS
English - Hyphenation
BRTPHON.ENV
UK English - Spelling
And they may perfectly be stored out of the "AppleWorks Essentials:Dictionaries" folder.
Storing them in this one is simply easier to switch from one to another one.
The dialog designed to select one dictionary give us the ability to navigate quite everywhere.
I have a set of dictionaries in my French AppleWorks and the other versions are sharing the files from the French folder.

  • Move from iMac to Macbook Pro

    Good day everyone.
I am moving away from a 3 years old iMac (system 10.6.8) to a Macbook Pro which I already have. I simply do not need the two machines anymore,
Can someone tell me how I can best move all my iPhoto and iTunes files over to the Macbook please? I do not have a Cloud account at present but am planning to set one up. Would the solution be to upgrade the iMac to OS 10.8 (so that it can operate Cloud); register this machine and the Powerbook on Cloud and then pull down the files onto the Powerbook?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Tom

have a look at the links below and see if it helps you out.

  • Can Airdrop move Contacts from iMac to MacBook Air?

Can Airdrop move Contacts from iMac to MacBook Air?

Yes and no. AirDrop is used to send a file from one computer to another. A Contact isn't a file so AirDrop isn't the best way to move contacts from one computer to another. If you own both an iMac and MBA and want to keep the two computers synced, the easiest way is to create an iCloud account on both computers. Any calendar event, to do, contact, or note you create on one will sync to the other. If you just bought a MBA and want to move data to it from your iMac you should use Apple's migration assistant. Personally I think the easiest way to migrate is to perform a backup of the old computer to a USB external drive using TimeMachine and then connect the TimeMachine to the new computer and use Migration Assistant.
But can you exchange contacts using AirDrop? Yes. Select the contact(s) you want to transfer, export them as vcards to a temporary folder. Then AirDrop the folder to your MBA. Now run Contacts and then drag the vcards onto the Contacts program icon in the Dock.

  • HT3231 Can i migrate keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Can I migrate Keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Do you mean the program itself? If so then if it was bought from the Mac App Store just logon to the MAS with the same Apple ID you used when you bought it and redownload and install on the new Mac.
If it was bought on DVD then get that DVD out and install in on the new Mac then run Software Update to bring it up to its most current version.
If you mean the Keynotes you created then just copy them over your LAN from one Mac to the other.

  • How do I get my just made movie from iMac to iTunes?

How do I get my just made movie from iMac to iTunes?

    Hello MWWWB,
Unlike iPhoto, Photoshop is only an editor. It does not store or organize images. In iPhoto preferences, you can choose Photoshop as an editor. You will then get a choice when you double click on an iPhoto thumbnail to use iPhoto or Photoshop to make edits. But Photoshop does not have a library to store images like iPhoto.
You may want to use Adobe Bridge or Lightroom to help name and organize your pictures. You can Export your iPhoto Library to a folder and manage the exported images there.
Personally, I hate the arcane manner iPhoto stores and organizes images. I use it only for photos from my iPhone.

Airdrop won't work from iMac to MacBook Pro, but will work from MacBook Pro to iMac. Is there something I need to set on either computer?

how to install software from imac to macbook pro

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

unless you're sharing very large files, speed will be more or less the same using any of the above connections.
this support article may prove useful: Mac 101: File sharing.
you can also use firewire Target Disk Mode.

  • Data Migration from iMac to MacBook Pro Issues

    Hello!
I purchased a MacBook Pro and immediately began the data transfer through the Migration Assistant. Twelve hours later, it is at a screen saying "canceling migration", which it has been stuck on for five hours. I shut down my MacBook Pro and the iMac, and attempted to start the process over again. It appears that the data in fact did transfer, so I skipped the step asking me to transfer my data. Now I am at the screen to create my account, and it will not let me choose my full name or account name (due to that account information already being transfered over). That is the only account I would like to use, not any new account. I am unsure how to get around this step, any advice?
    Thanks!

I just bought a MacBook Pro and am trying to use MA to migrate stuff from my iMac (Intel, OSX 10.4.11) to my MacBook Pro (Intel, OSX 10.6.3).
Problem is, every time I try ("from" iMac "to" MacBook Pro), my iMac IDs my MacBook Pro and asks for the passcode, I give it, it then asks for the passcode again, I give it again, then it churns away with the message that it's "looking for other computers". On and on and on and gets stuck in this mode.
I'm using ethernet between the two. Tried wireless also. Same issue. Downloaded the Migration & DVD/CD Sharing Update onto the iMac; it's already on the MacBook Pro. Same problem persists.
Any suggestions? (among the ten zillion firewire cables I have, none fits the MacBook Pro, so haven't tried firewire yet).
    Thanks.

  • When I try to migrate from imac to macbook pro my user account says this user needs attention before migrating. My e-mail does not migrate in the process. this never happened before i updated to Maverick

When I try to migrate from imac to macbook pro my user account says "this user needs attention before migrating". My e-mail does not migrate in the process. This never happened before I updated to Maverick. I have repaired user permissions but this not make any difference

Just a Follow-up - the migration went fine. The migration did not import Little Snitch, Flip4Mac and DivX, stating they were incompatible.  It also reported that Intego Back up Assistant has improper security setting (which I have not yet investigated).
I am encountering small problems.  Safari would not open embedded pdf documents and instead showed a black screen.  This was fixed with instructions found at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html and it now works fine.
Importing 17 years of old mail from Eudora to Apple Mail was time consuming. mostly because of the pre-migration preening i did, but using Eudora file cleaner before the migrtaion helped a lot.
I amy find some more glitches, but so far everything seems to be working.

  • Cannot import Movie from iTunes on MacBook to iMac. Error says computer not

When I try to import the movie from the shared folder on my laptop to the desktop I get an error message that says this computer is not authorized. All of my computers have been authorized.

If you purchased and not rented, it should let you stream this to your TV?
You can't defeat the DRM protection from TV or movie purchases from iTunes.
There are two things you can try though if you purchased and not rented.
If, you have a computer with up to date version of iTunes on it, Delete the movie from your iPad and try downloading it from iTunes on your computer.
From there you have two options. One is to connect the iPad to your computer and sync it to the iPad, the try playing the movie from your iPad connected to your TV.
The other option is to leave the movie on iTunes on your computer. In iTunes main menu bar under Advanced, turn on Home Sharing. On your iPad activate iTunes Home Sharing, by going into the settings app, locate the video app settings menu on the left pane, then under Home Sharing, type in your Apple ID and password to activate this feature on the iPad.
Go to the video app, itself. You should see a Sharing tab pop-up. Tap this and an icon representing your iTunes library on your computer should appear. Tap this. Let it load. Under the movies tab, search for your downloaded movie, tap the movie and tap the play button to begin streaming the movie from your computer to your iPad connected to your TV.
If this is a rental, you can only view and play the movie from one device at a time. If rented, it may not let you view the movie from other than the iPad or iTunes on the computer or AppleTV.
If delete this from the iPad, download the rental movie to iTunes on your computer and follow my procedure for sharing your iTunes library, you maybe able to stream this from your computer to the iPad to your TV in that manner.

  • How to use Lightroom from iMac and Macbook Air so that I can edit any/all photos in my catalog?

I have lightroom catalog setup on my desktop (iMac).  But, I would like to edit photos from my new MacBook Air when I have the free time.  How do I set this up so that any edits done on my laptop sync with my desktop catalog?

    Craig:
In the future you might look into an external FW hard drive from which you can operate the library.  Then, if you need to move it to another machine just unplug the drive and and plug it in to the other Mac.  For the MacBook Air you'd probably want a small (physical size) buss powered drive that would be an easy travel mate.
For future projects, particularly books, consider creating a separate library for it.  You can assemble the photos you want in it in an album in your primary library and use iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album to the project library.  They are often small enough that then can be copied to a flash drive for transfer to other Macs.
