Appleworks from Classic to X ???

Hello,
I've just got a Macbook Pro Leopard, how can I transfer my Appleworks 5.04 application documents from my iMac 9.2.2 desktop to my Macbook Pro?
I have already tried using Firewire, External Harddrive (non-bootable),OS9 Install CD, iMac System Install CD. But the Macbook Pro gives me a message about no longer in the Classic Envirement.
I was informed in the Apple Store that I would be able to transfer & use
the Appleworks from my iMac on this Macbook Pro.
Thank You.

Does that mean that I will be unable to transfer my current Appleworks documents to the Macbook Pro?
Yes, unless you have AppleWorks 6 or newer. Some documents can be saved into a different format from AppleWorks 5.
Is there anyway that I can install Classic - 9.2.2 onto the Macbook Pro and then switch back and forth between Leopard & Classic, thereby having access to my current Appleworks documents on the laptop?
Try SheepShaver if you have a compatible Mac OS 9 version.

  • Can AppleWorks from my '05 G5 be installed in my new iMac?

When I purchased my g5 in 2005, appleworks came standard. yesterday, I purchased a new iMac and now appleworks (along with spreadsheet and something else i'll never use) cost $70 or $80, so I was hoping that I may be able to install the appleworks from my 05 G5. is this possible?
    thanks in advance,

In the original Appleworks 6 install log on the G5, the installer created a number of folders in the System folder as well as the Appleworks 6 folder in /Applications. Those folders contain Help files, fonts, MacLink Plus translators, etc. When you say "Any AppleWorks associated files that are required by the application will be created as they are needed, and should NOT be transferred," are these the files you refer to?
The key phrase there is "required by the application".
    In the "System Folder"
I do see an AppleWorks folder in my Application Support folder.
It contains many of the items you mention.
and a Claris folder containing the older XTND translators and some other files,
And an AppleWorks folder in the Preferences folder.
This is the Mac OS 9 System Folder, and the enclosed files are not required by AppleWorks running in OS X. (And running in OS 9 requires Classic, which is not supported on intel based Macs.)
It MAY be useful to move fonts and the translators to the new machine, and I doubt that doing so will do harm, but I can't make a recommendation either way.
In the "System" folder, which belongs to OS X, I don't see any of these items.
Alternatively, should I just use the original Appleworks CD and the 6.2.9 updater (thanks for the link!) to do a clean install of Appleworks on the 10.6 iMac? I know it will need Rosetta to run. I figure I could then move my custom Appleworks templates into the new Starting Points folder.
Installation from your original AW (retail box) CD will either work or return a "not supported on this architecture" or similar message. The message, if returned refers to the installer on the disk, not to AppleWorks 6.2.x.

  • Running Appleworks in Classic

    Hello all,
Today, I have installed the Classic environment.
What should I do to run Appleworks in Classic?
Currently, Appleworks runs on Tiger. I have an original Appleworks CD for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. When I install, it re-installs my Appleworks on Tiger only.
I want to run Appleworks on Classic because I want to make live pdf file using PrintToPdf.
    Thanks!
    Daniel

Ok, you don't need Classic to make PDF's from Appleworks.
Tiger>Appleworks>Print and you should have a button that says "PDF" with a whole lotta options after that.
If you don't see this, what you need to do is update AppleWorks by searching for "Appleworks" on Apple's main page.
I thinks it's Applewoks 6.2.9 is the latest version.
Learn to clone that boot drive!

    Welcome to the Forums Tigga.
    You have a few options:
    * Install Classic (if you have a non-Intel based Mac)
    * Install AppleWorks on a friend's Mac that has Classic installed, burn the AppleWorks 6 folder to CD, delete AppleWorks from your friend's Mac, and then copy it from the CD to your Mac.
    * Buy a cheap copy from someone you know or via eBay, etc.

  • HP LaserJet 1300 won't print from Classic

I can’t print out of Classic environment because the printer (HP Laserjet 1300) isn’t installed there. My computer does not have dual boot. (That is, it can run classic, but not boot up in classic.) I've read some related posts and have tried some suggestions, but so far to no avail.
The installation CD has installation for OS 9 and OS 10 and I have installed both from the OS X environment. But there is still no HP Laserjet 1300 icon in the Chooser in the OS 9 environment. I should mention that when I went to chooser and clicked on Laserwriter 8 icon, I noticed that there was a place that said “Select a PostScript Printer” but there was no printers to be selected in the related field. I have been to Apple System Profiler in OS 9 and there is no driver listed there for my HP laserjet even though I have installed it.
When I click print I get a yellow ! message that says that my Document could not be printed because printer “LaserWriter could not be found. Try again?
This printer works fine from OS X, but not from classic. I called apple help and they said to go to the HP website. The HP website said the following:
“Installing a driver in Mac in classic mode
    2004/11
Installing an HP driver in MAC® classic mode may be useful: if, for example, an application you want to use is not supported by MAC OS X.
This functionality is supported by the PostScript and the raster drivers.
    Installing the driver
With the latest version of the drivers, the installer already foresees separate MAC OS 9 and OS X installation. On MAC OS X, run the OS 9 installation and it will install in classic mode.”
    MY QUESTION:
How do I “run the OS 9 installation”? What buttons do I press to do this?
    Thanx in advance
    Fred

froellig, two wholly different things here.
Looking at the 9 driver for LaserJet 1300 HP offers for download, anyway, it isn't actually a driver - it's merely an installer which, from either X or 9, should give you Printer Description Files to use with the standard PostScript drivers, namely LaesrWriter 8 or AdobePS.
Test that it did that much by using Apple's Desktop Printer Utility to create a virtual desktop printer… If the Change button in PostScript Printer Definition (PPD) File pane leads to a Printer Descriptions list that does include HP LaserJet 1300 Series that much, at least, seems to have worked.
If the printer works from OS X, then you could use LaserWriter 8 in Classic to Print to File, which would give you .ps files which you could manually drag into any X print queue. This works for most printers.
The other thing is that yes, LaserWriter should show the 1300 in the right-hand Chooser pane so again, can X see it and print to it?
If not that suggests a cable or hardware fault, bad settings or interference from other software.
If X can see and use the printer, and there are no other faults with Classic 9, that suggests something inside OS 9 is interfering.

  • Switch from classic to Extended Classic Scenario- Impact

    Hello,
We are proposing to switch from Classic to Extended Classic Scenario.
We are on SRM_SERVER 550,Sp7 and SAP 4.7 backend.
We want to know if this is technically feasible to switch and have less/no impact on existing transactional data and master data.
Main concerns are: Existing open Shopping carts and PO's.
We are also modifying the WF by including buyer completion WF.
Will the carts created in classic scenario and 'awaiting approval' work similarly in ECS?
Can we copy old carts (created in classic scenario) into new ones in ECS?
Are there any other issues like the ones above which people have come across?
Is there any standard SAP material/Consulting note available
which gives some guidelines for switching scenarios?
    Regards,
    Srivatsan

    Hello,
You can switch from the classic to the extended classic scenario by making the global settings in the IMG.
But it would be better if you can decide if only a particular set of categories need ECS.
If you wish to have both the scenarios, the deciding factor is the product category.
You can also activate a  BADI for the control of ECS despite the above Global settings.
    Reward if answer is helpful,
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Migration Date when migrating from classic to new g/l

    Hello gurus,
I am planning a migration from classic to new g/l, but this fiscal year it will be not possible to finish phase 0 (from migration model plan). Is it possible to do it in the middle of the new fiscal year, what are the withdrawls or issues? what do you recommend me? What strategy can I use?
    Thanks,
    Silvia Guillen

    Hi Silvia,
There is differnce in migration date & activation date. Migration date will always be the firts day of new fiscal year.
But as on migration date you have to bring your config changes to PRD.

  • Printing from Classic on a non-os 9 printer

    Hi...
I hope you will tell me it will work...
I have a Samsung CLP-510 printer and there's no printer driver for OS 9. I want to print from Classic (on a Power Book G4). I need to use Classic because my whole invoice software is on this system. (yeah, I know...I know...)
There's no problem to install de Os X driver, so the printer will be installed on the computer. Will Classic have the printer installed too, even if i don't really install the os 9 driver? Will I be able to print directly from my software in Classic ?
    Many thanks for your help.
I need to know it before doing all this, that's why I'm asking you all.

    Probelm resolved.

  • Printing from Classic Using OS X Drivers

Shouldn't I be able to print from Classic using my Epson USB printer's OS X drivers (OS 9 drivers don't exist for this model)? I've tried opening the Chooser in Classic, but the printer doesn't show up.
    Thanks,
    Emily

Go to Chooser (while in a Classic App) and select LaserWriter 8 driver - even if there's no printer on the right.
When you want to print, the LaserWriter 8 print dialog comes up and you can select your OS X printers in the destination printer pull-down.
    Good luck.

  • Problem with printing from classic

I used to print things out from classic but somehow I can't print anymore. It tell me to go to chooser and choose the printer but I can't choose it. I tried to click on HP printer but no reponse. I tried to reinstall but no use. That reinstalling seems only appy to OS X, no affect on classics. Now what?
I use mostly os X but there are some files I need to print from classic appliction. Funnything is I was able to do it and somehow it does not do it anymore.

    Hi Soo Lee;
You are on the forum for Intel iMacs and in your original message you did state what system you had hence the reply that you can run "Classic" on an Intel iMac.
I would suggest that you report on the forum for PPC iMac instead.

I have an Adobe Flash Professionals digital classroom book and was following all steps easily until it ask me to select the text tool and change it from classic to tfl in the property inspector. I looked and all that drops down is dynamic, static, and input. Where is the TFL and Classic ? I watched adobe learning center but he was using CS5. Can anyone please help?

    Hi,
Do you use Flash CS6 to follow the instructions in the classroom book? If yes, then you can find it under text drop down for an AS3 Document as shown below
If you follow the instruction in Flash CC or Flash CC2014 then you will not find this option as this is deprecated.
    Thanks!

  • Printing from Classic

I can no longer print from Classic (v 9.2)but printing from OS 10.1.5 is fine. Printing from Classic was not a problem until I tried to network my G4 with a PC. After several attempts, changing settings (airport, ethernet etc)I gave up and reset for printing in OS 10.
The printer is a Personal laserwriter 320. In classic when I print the message is Laserwriter 320 could not be found. I have tried changing settings etc. but can not get it to print.
    Any suggestions
    G4   Mac OS X (10.1.x)   Mac OS 9.2

I hope that's enough for someone else to now take this further…
An AsantéTalk ethernet to LocalTalk bridge should plug in and work with no configuration, so that shouldn't be part of the problem.
AppleTalk does need to be on, but it doesn't need zones; that's just a option for more sophisticated, managed networks.
You probably need to turn off all other networking, including AirPort, and I guess TCP/IP needs to be set to Configure: Manually, not Using DHCP, etc.
Pure, bootable OS 9 is what you invoked when you changed the startup disk to use the classic 9 which opened to the 9 desktop… as opposed to Classic, which bars some features so a cut-down version of OS 9 can run over X… the point here being that misconfiguration in X can effect 9 utilities, particularly at the level where peripherals including printers ineract with the system, and some things which perfectly happy in pure 9 are simply incompatible with Classic over X.

    Hello Soo Lee,
I am just starting to work with Jaguar so I am not sure this will help.
Can you boot into 9???? To do this you select the 9.2 as the start-up item.....Then I would re-install the 9 driver for your printer.
I am asuming that the printer works in X....This tells me that the cable is working.
You need to have the drivers installed in the 9 system folder. The go into the system folder and should go to the right location austomatically.
If you have done this and still have trouble, make sure the printer is on when you go into the chooser. It won't show up unless it is on.
Perhaps when you installed the new drivers for X it disabled the 9 driver. I am not sure but try these few things and post back...........Jim

  • Switching from Classic to Extended Classic

    Hello,
We are thinking of switching from classic scenario to extended classic as part of an upgrade from EBP 3.5 to SRM 5.0. Can anyone confirm whether it is possible, or whether we would have to re-implement SRM?
Any idea of how difficult it would be.
    Thanks
    AR

    Hi,
    Yes you can do it.
First you have to do the upgrade from 3.5 to 5.0
Then once your upgraded system is correctly working , you can change the configuration and switch from classic to ECS scenario.
    Not a big deal
    Kind regards,
    Yann
