Appleworks -Viewing Database Records

After creating and typing in several records containing NAMES, ADDRESSES, PHONES, EMAIL, NOTES, I proceeded to print labels with just NAME, ADDRESS (4 Lines). After following instructions on label set up, I then pressed DONE and a message congratulated me on the set up. However, I could not get back to my original pages with the original record with all the information. I was just left with labels. How do I retrieve my original records which was viewabel under "Browse.? Or can I? Was my original data transformed permanently into labels?
Nowhere in the instructions was I told to make a duplicate and saving a copy of my file before making labels. -Frank

Welcome
If you look in the Layout menu, I assumes that at its very bottom you will find at least two items under a separator.
One of these items is the "labels" one.
The other one is the one used to create your records.
Just select it.
It would be useful to search for the keyword "layout" in the help.

A layout is an arrangement of fields, field names, and other objects. Layouts determine the way data is organized and presented in Browse mode and in reports.
When you create a new database document, AppleWorks automatically creates a layout. You can create other layouts to provide different views of the information in your database. You switch between layouts using the Layout menu or the layout pop-up menu, on the left side of the document window. (The layout pop-up menu does not appear in Layout mode.)

I cannot open the .muse file. The site was saved as a .muse the saved as html and uploaded to web. Customer has a change and the .muse file will not open. The error I get is Error Assert: "Corrupt XML in database record U1 class MuseSite". How can this be fixed? What happened? Please help. I took the html version to DreamWeaver but it is very discombobulated on the design screen and strange coding on the code view. Please help, customer needs this change asap.

Can't View All Records if Max Row Count is null

Hi,
There are over 2500 records in a table and if Max Row Count is set to nothing in report attributes, the user is restricted to view only 500 records. And If Max Row Count is set more than 2500 then user is able to view all records but taking more time to display report.
What to do to minimise process time and allow user to view all the records. ?

Hi Ven,
Apex restricts the number of rows returned by a report to 500 by default. You can change this by setting the Max Row Count. Apex does this so that the amount of data returned over the network to the browser is kept to a reasonable amount. The reason it is done this way is because a user in apex does not maintain a stateful connection to the database and as a result, rows returned from a query can not be cached in the database and fetched as required.
From a usability point of view, I'm not sure why a user would want 2500+ rows returned to a screen. They would have to scroll and paginate to find anything of use and network bandwidth would get chewed up in the process. Why not provide the users with query options so that the number rows returned to the browser is restricted to a more manageable amount? If the users require a full hardcopy of the data then you can handle this with csv and pdf options.

ColdFusion Studio wizards - view/edit records & RecordMaster

Anyone use Recordmaster wizard from back in the CF Studio
days?? Sometimes I really miss it! Is there anything comparable
available today for the current toolset (CFeclipse or Dreamweaver)?
RecordMaster was a little automated wizard thing that you could
just point to a DSN and a table, and it would build a nifty set of
basic pages to do admin stuff, namely view, add, edit and delete
records. Very good start to build quick and dirty admin pages, and
super easy.
There was even a little built in Studio wizard that would
generate record view/edit/delete pages. All just basic cfm, no
cfc's.
Anyhing? I've got to build some admin type pages here on a
table with lots of fields and don't want to do it all from scratch.
If I can't find anything, I may search my CD archives for an old
version of Studio just to use RecordMaster! What do others use for
fast creation of database record admin pages???

Dan, it sounds like you never used CF Studio.
CF Studio from Allaire, had these "wizards" that you could
use to auto generate pages. All it needed was the ability to
connect to a DNS and it would do its thing. simple and easy. This
was done on the development side, the pages that were created were
then loaded to the live server where a client could use them via a
browser. Easy as ebay.
Your solutions sounds like it works well for you. However it
is not such a great solution for a basic client sitting in some
office. SQL Plus, and Access are not something my client has or is
interested in learning, or are we interested in changing the
database over to Oracle.
Does anyone on this list have a solution to ease the work
involved in creating these "View/edit/delete" pages by hand?

The followings are different types of views:
Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
Help View ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.

A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.

Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.

ACS 5.3 View Database Backup hanging

In ACS 5.3 .0.40 the backup of the view database stopped working.
There seems that a backup stucked in progress.
Incremental backup is configured, I cannot edit the configuration in
"Monitoring Configuration -> Data management -> Removal and Backup" - the browser times out.
If I want to reload the ACS I get the this message
WARNING: A backup or restore is currently in progress! Continue with reload? (yes/no) [yes] ?
Why does backup of the view database not work ???

Hello Herbert,
I have seen issues with ACS View backups getting stucked if Incremental Backup is not configured. This might not be the case as you have stated that Incremental Backup is configured on your ACS.
At this point, the best approach would be to collect the support bundle including the day the ACS View backup was triggered and open a TAC case in order to deeper investigate the issue.
It would be important to specify if the services of the ACS have been restarted already or not. I would recommend to leave it as it is until collecting the support logs.
NOTE: Also, a possible reason for this issue to occur is that the ACS was not able to complete a previous backup and the /opt/CSCOacs/view/temp/IncrementalBackup.Running file got locked. This should be confirmed by a TAC engineer as well as we might need to access the underlying OS of the unit.

Saving database records in a flat file

I am trying to save data from relational database into a flat file and then read back records based on the certain criteria.
What will be a good approach for me? Should I use random access files or sequential files for storing and
retrieving data or is there some other technique that is more efficient that I can use.

I don't think that reading database records from a flat file based on certain criteria is a good approach, no matter how you produce the flat file. Using a second database table makes more sense to me, especially since you already have database software available and ready for use.
(You asked about a "good approach" and then you wanted a technique that was "more efficient". Those two aren't the same thing at all.)

In Jdeveloper go to View-->Connection Nevigator. there you will see all kind of connctions. Expand Database and check if your DB connection is present there. If not, you need to create using right clicking on Database and choose New Database Connecton. Here few screens will be there where you need to put the TNS entries of your database.
Once DB connection is created, you can expand the connection by clicking on + icon and you can see different available schema objects. Again you need to expand Tables and you can look for specific table in there.

Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLV60U" had to be terminated because one of the
statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.

The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLV60U" in "VBUK_BEARBEITEN".
The main program was "SAPMSSY4 ".
The termination occurred in line 503 of the source code of the (Include)
program "LV60UF0V"
of the source code of program "LV60UF0V" (when calling the editor 5030).
Processing was terminated because the exception "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB" occurred in
the
procedure "VBUK_BEARBEITEN" "(FORM)" but was not handled locally, not declared
in the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
The procedure is in the program "SAPLV60U ". Its source code starts in line 469
of the (Include) program "LV60UF0V "."
Please assist how to proceed further ..

You could put the files somewhere and I can export them as QuickTime. Or you could find anyone you know who has Director. Or do the 30 day trial download
Another approach would be to play the DCR in a browser window, and do a screen recording. But that’s unlikely to give the perfect frame rate that you would get by exporting from Director.
