Applicability of ndd recommendations

I am reading the WebLogic tuning guide
http://www.weblogic.com/platforms/sun/index.html
and I was wondering if the authors had the "Mixed
Deployment Architecture" in mind.
That is
Browser<-->Firewall_1<-->iPlanet/WLplugin<-->Firewall_2<-->WebLogicCluster
Where the tuning guidelines are applied to the UNIX boxes
hosting the WebLogic clusters.
The alternative is that the authors had the "Using WebLogic
Server as the Webserver Deployment Architecture" in mind.
Browser<-->FireWall_1<-->WebLogic<-->Firewall_2<-->WebLogicCluster
If the authors had the latter in mind, how applicable are the
recommendations (e.g. ndd parameters) to us iPlanet folks?

James - things have changed slightly in 10g so that we do now use an ActionForm (A dynamic one as it happens) for handling Form data on the page.
The reason for making this change from the 9.0.3 JBO tags is so that the pages themselves are much more generic - they are not tied to Oracle specific taglibs and can use the standard Struts HTML taglibs and JSTL taglibs.
Now rather than the specialist JBO tags doing all the hard work, it's all handled by a specialist action type that will use the dynamic Form to handle the changes.
