[Application Builder] What does "disconnect type definitions" accomplish?

Hi all,
Inside the Build Specification properties, there's an option "Additional Exclusions" -> "Disconnect type definitions".
The only piece of documentation I've found is at http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lvdialog/additional_exclusions_sd/ but it's not very descriptive. It suggests that disconnecting might cause front panel objects to be displayed incorrectly. Is this the case?
What does this option do? Its existence suggests to me that type definition info persists inside a compiled LabVIEW application, unless we choose to disconnect them.
When should I disconnect, and when should I leave type definitions alone?
Thanks in advance!

I only know one use case for this option: when application builder throws errors during builds or exe itself doesnt work.
One reason to use it is when you use Network Shared Variables with typedefs - I recall problems with shared variables not founding theirs typedefs after build. This option also happens to fix more exotic problems - see LV2014 bug fixes:
426523
A specific large project fails to build with a GenIL error and then crashes if you do not select Disconnect Type Defs
So, other than to workaround app builder problems - I don't know any other reason to mark Disconnect Type Definitions.

  • What does the "check mark" in iTunes beside the name of the song/artist signify?

In iTunes when "MUSIC" is selected, and the list of songs appears. Why are some songs checked and others not? What does the check mark signify or accomplish?

Tracks without a check mark are basically ignored by iTunes but left in the library.  Some people use it for deactivating seasonal (e.g., Christmas) music when they don't want it to play but still want it in their collection.  It also won't be synced.

What are the different types of parameters available in function builder and where do we use them.

The different type of parameters available in FM are
Import - They are used to pass the values to the function module.
Export- They are used by FM to pass the result back to the calling program.
Changing - The variables are passed to the FM and can be changed during the FM processing.
Tables - Internal tables can be passed to the FM (it works similar to changing parameter).

  • What does it take to build smart card applications?

Just out of interest I was wondering what does it take to build smart card applications:
    - Can I do it at home with my PC or do I have to have access to expensive hardware?
    - How difficult is it to master given that I do it on my own with no help. Does it involve a lot of hardware issues?
    - If hardware is required (a smart card and a cable connection), where do I get it and how much does it cost?

    Let me rephrase my question.
I understand that the deployment process may not be so easy. That does not disturb me.
I just want to know whether I'll experience hardware probelms. If reading/writing to the card involves putting it inside and taking it outside from the device just like a floppy disk without any complications, then I don't have any worries.
By the way, does the reader device is used for both reading AND writing?

  • What does "Illegal Constant Pool Type" error signify ?

    Hello,
I have developed an application on a windows system that connects to a database, places values onto an object, and displays on a screen. When I run on a windows environment everything works fine. When I export to my external server, which is linux system, I get an "Illegal Constant Pool Type" error.
What does this mean and how can I rectify?
The error message can be found at:
    http://www.blazingvibes.com/blazinvibes/indexhome.jsp
Thank you all for your help.

No idea since I can't see the error or code.
And I don't know about anyone else but I don't click on links unless I know the source, so its current location isn't going to help in that matter.
Presumably you are doing printStackTrace() so the location of the error is obvious.

You get that message any time you download an executable file. It is safe to open as long as you download from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

    Hello WayneSchlapkohl,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are looking to Email a scanned photo, but do not want the file to be to large. Are you using HP software when you get the error "not connected to the internet" ? If so, What is the Operating System installed, Windows, including version, e.g. Windows 7 or Mac, including version, e.g. 10.8?
Lowering the DPI or resolution will help keep the file size down, if you have an option for that in the software.
Also, what is the Email client are you using, MSN, Gmail, etc?
    Cheers,
    JERENDS

The build I have is the released build of Mail. I reinstalled it as directed and it didn't help. That indicates that the problem is with my version of OS X.

The above are examples of flawed logic.
Seriously now. Since you obviously don't know what a Combo Update is, I will tell you. A Combo Update is short for a COMBINATION of Updates. That means that there is MORE THAN ONE update in a Combo Update. It is, therefore, quite proper to speak of "one of the Combo Updates". For people whose first language is not English and are not familiar with its subtle nuances, perhaps I should have said "One of the updates contained within the Combo Update was"
"There aren't "versions" of the combo update, unless Apple releases a revision"?
This is plain silly. It means "There aren't versions unless there are"
Also I didn't use the word "version". See above for the explanation of what I DID say.
Are you one of those TROLLS I keep hearing about?
I hope you got a lot of phoney Help points for not actually helping.
Don't bother replying, I won't come back to this thread, so I wont see it. Of course you'll get another phoney Help point, so I suppose you will, but I'll never know. Doesn't that mess with your head?
    Bye Bye
    What an attitude you have.
Erase your drive and reinstall correctly, stop messing about with incremental patches. The routine you need is BERR (backup, erase, reinstall, restore) or just stay as yu are, it is entirely up to you.

The depth of your ignorance shows here, there are no phoney points, only ones awarded by posters who receive solutions, and only at the original posters choice.

  • What does the 'TO' lock type represent?

Does anyone know what the 'TO' lock type stands for? I found in the Oracle documentation for 8i the following list of lock types:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/server.817/a76961/ch380.htm#28430
but 'TO' is not included. I'm having issues with 'TO' locks hanging around for a while after a call to the database from a web server. They eventually timeout after a minute or so, but I hoping the lock type would be a clue as to the reason.
    Thanks,
    Sam

I looked up the documentation too and noticed it wasn't mentioned. Here's the output from a query on DBA_LOCK showing that lock type:
    SESSION_ID     LOCK_TYPE     MODE_HELD     MODE_REQUESTED     LOCK_ID1     LOCK_ID2     LAST_CONVERT     BLOCKING_OTHERS
    9     TO     Row-X (SX)     None     635667     1     199     Not Blocking
    9     TO     Row-X (SX)     None     635664     1     196     Not Blocking
    9     TO     Row-X (SX)     None     601017     1     177     Not Blocking
    9     TO     Row-X (SX)     None     600979     1     27     Not Blocking
These locks seem to linger around too.
