Application calendar cannot be opened -1712

I cannot open my calendar application from the doc but am able to access it through iCloud.
I get an arrow message from launch pad which says application calendar cannot be opened -1712

If you haven't already done so, restart the computer and try again. If an application won't quit and prevents restarting, force quit. As a last resort, force a shutdown by holding down the power button for a few seconds. Then press it again briefly to start up.

  • My Numbers does not open anymore. a message says: number cannot be open -1712. what can I do?

I am trying to open a Number document, but Number just cannot open again. A message error comes up saying: Number cannot be open -1712. error.
What's the issue? How can I solve it?

Have you tried quitting Numbers, then opening the app again?
Also, you could try shutting down your Mac and restarting.
If, after doing that, you still have problems, but only with one document, then that document may have become corrupted. In that case you could go back in time in Time Machine and "restore."
If you're saving your documents in iCloud you can still do a Time Machine restore at Library > Mobile Documents > com~apple~Numbers.  (To get there hold down the option key in Finder and choose Go from the menu).

  • I cannot access my folders and when I click on Finder, it says "the application Finder cannot be opened" then a number 10810. HELP!

After shutting down and rebooting, I find I have no folders on display on the desktop and when I click on the Finder icon, a message comes up that says "the application Finder cannot be opened" followed by the number 10810. HELP!

You could do it by cloning.  I have read OSX installations of a single version can be machine specific too, so even if this were a Tiger compatible drive a clone might not work.  I haven't seen anybody actually state a specific case where they had problems on a machine compatible with the OS version because of this though.  The last  case I can recall of system specific installations was back in OS7 days with system enablers.   I have moved Tiger between machines by moving the drive with no problems, but the machines were pretty similar models (both Quicksilver, just a year difference production model).

  • Just installed os x maverick and updated my version of pages now when I try to open a document stored in pages format from old version get message "The Application "pages" can't be opened -1712  What is wrong?

Just updated to new version of pages.  Now can not open stored documents created under al pages.  Get message "the application pages can' be opened -1712"  hat do I do?

Apple released Pages 5.0 to run on Maverics only. They completely rewrote the program for Maverics and 64 bit compatibility. They failed to explain that this version is missing much of the previous version's capability and that it cannot read older Pages files. When they install it they leave the older Pages 4.3 in place because it is the only way to read the older Pages files and upgrade them to a level that can be read by Pages 5!
If you still have Pages 4.3 on your computer it will tell you what to do. If you do not then go into your backups and retrieve it.
Because of the deficiences of Pages 5 I have removed it from my Mac and gone back to working with Pages 4.3. I have also removed Pages 2 from my iPad and found Pages 1.7 in the Time Machinew backups and brought it forward and droped it onto the iTunes icon to restore it and then synced the iPad to get the Pages 1.7 running again - it is compatible with Pages 4.3 on the Mac so all is back to normal for me.
Apple say that they will fix many of the deficiences in Pages 5 in the next six months. I suggest you wait until then and keep an eye on these communities beforte considering the "upgrade".
Incedentaly Pages 5.0 writes files that cannot be read by anything else including Pages 4.3 - better hope no one sends you one! It does not save RTF either - what where they thinking!

  • OS X Yosemite application cannot be opened

I just updated my MAC to OS X Yosemite.  I am the "administrator" and my daughter has her own account.  Everything is running super-smooth on mine.  I went to update her iPad to the Mac and we logged into her account and when we went to open iTunes, it said, "Application iTunes cannot be opened".  Okay, fine - no biggie right? So I went to trouble-shoot through Safari and it said, "Application Safari cannot be opened".  Frustrated, I clicked on App Store and guess what it said? Yup.
So, I logged back into my account and repaired disk and tried again...to no avail.  I'm not ignorant on a Mac, but I'm not a pro on it either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated because we can't access anything in hers and I check privacy settings under my account and nothing looks out of shape.  I literally cannot access anything if I log into hers (System Preferences even gives me the same error!).
    Thanks in advance!

  • TCP/IP cannot be opened

I have an OS 9 slot loader that won't connect to the internet because a dialog window keeps popping up saying I need to check the settings in the TCP/IP control panel. When I try to open that control panel, another dialog box comes back saying: The TCP/IP control panel is being used by another application and cannot be opened. Check the modem or apple talk settings. When I do that and retry it, nothing changes.

    Hi, chooski -
Sometimes AppleTalk can interfere with connections via ethernet. And, sometimes turning AppleTalk off is not enough to make it let go of a port.
Try opening the AppleTalk control panel and setting AppleTalk to use a different port, typically something not otherwise in use - such as Remote Only.
Then restart, and try the TCP/IP control panel again.
If it still won't open -
    • Make sure both the extensions named Shared Library Manager and Shared Library Manager PPC are enabled (checkmarked) in Extensions Manager; ditto all extensions whose names include OpenTransport or OpenTpt.
    • Throw away these preference files -
        ASLM Preferences
        TCP/IP Preferences
    • Then restart and try it again.

  • The application "Calendar" can't be opened - 1712 - any suggestions?

The application "Calendar" can't be opened - 1712. Any suggestions??

    Liz,
Restart your MacBook, and try again. What happens?

  • Can't open the application Calendar. -1712

    OS 10.8.4, Macbook Pro, 2.5 GHz i5
Calendar v 6.0 is in applications folder and is 40.8 MB.  It was opened 8 days ago and had been open for several days.  I think I last used it 3 days ago.
The iCal alias was in the dock and showed open (triangle). Command i showed the linked application as Calendar in the application folder.  I clicked on the alias in the dock yet nothing happened.  I double clicked the Calendar in the Application folder and nothing happened.  When I checked all the windows open there was no Calendar window.
The next time I tried to open Calendar from the iCal alias in the Dock or the Calendar in the Applications folder I got the pop up notification with the Finder faces "The application 'Calendar' can't be opened.       -1712"
    Thanks for your assistance.

I'm sorry.  I found after posting my question there were other -1712 for the Calendar.  I restarted and Calendar opened from the Dock ical alias.  Thanks you for your time.  I'll try to research better before I post next time.

  • The application Microsoft Word can't be opened - 1712

Now, suddenly, I cannot open it, or read/create any files, even though I can see the documents in my folders, and the light under the Icon is lit on the dock. When I open my Applications Folder, Word is shown as in there, but when I clicked on it, I saw the following pop up (error message?): The application Microsoft Word can't be opened - 1712. I have no idea how this happened, but I'm hoping that someone can tell me what to do about it. Any advice will be appreciated.

You really should be asking this question on the MS Word forums.

Suggest also that you tell us what version of Mac OS X you are running and what version of MS Word.

If it is not working, then restarting computer once might fix the issue.

  • Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Edit

Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.
