Application . . . cancelled restart

I'm getting this error message when I try to restart the computer:  "The application Install in Progress cancelled restart."  An update to an App called "Mint Quickview" has not completed successfully, and this seems to be the install that is "in progress".  I have tried (a) force quitting Install in Progress;  it restarts spontaneously before I can do anything else.  (b) stoping Install in Progress using Activity Monitor;  it restarts the same way.  (c) Deleting Mint Quickview by moving it to the trash;  the file deletion hangs without completing, just like the "Install in Progress".  I am no longer able to use a deletion program since Mint Quickview is no longer listed on my hard disk.  I am also unable to restart the computer.  Help would be appreciated.
MacBook Pro 5,1, 8GB RAM,

Re-install the app then use the uninstaller provider by the software developer or a utiltiy like
AppCleaner

• BSP Application Class Restart

Hi,
I have an BSP Application with one main controller (main.do) and two sub-controllers (control_1.do and control_2.do).
If I enter directly in the bsp application it works, but if I'm inside of this application and if I want start a new session with the same BSP application (using an href javascript link). The state of the actual bsp application is restarted to the new application.
ex:
1) APP A (I entered)
2) Inside o APP A I click in href to call again the APP A  (I Will get an APP B) but with a new session/instance (using the window.open with the sap-sessioncmd=open)
3) The APP A (is stopped)
4) The APP B (is started but I loosed the previous BSP application).
The question is, It is possible get new sessions (using window.open)from the same BSP application?How? Every time a call a window.open(A) the caller bsp session is lost.
Best Regards,
Ricardo Soares

You have to remember that BSP evolved over several releases.  In 6.10 BSP released with no support for MVC - just the Application class. The application class was simply the way to share values between views and store them between requests in stateful applications.  It doesn't support any data binding.  In 6.20 BSP began to support MVC with the introduction of controller classes and model classes.  You data bind UI elements directly to model attributes only.  There is no concept of context.
WD is completely different in that you only data bind UI element to the a context. The MVC structure is much cleaner because the view layout never has visibility to the model (regardless of what you consider the model).
Over time the assistance class has become the defacto standard for models in WDA, because unlike WDJ there is no direct model object.  It originally was intended mostly as a way of having text elements for WDA components.  However it is still perfectly acceptible to use service calls (proxy objects, function modules, class methods) as your model. I personally prefer to always wrap calls to my service object up in an assistance class for clear design.

• The application install OSX mountain lion cancelled restart

Hi,
I am hoping someone may be able to throw light on this problem. I have a 10.6.8 installed on my iMac and downloaded the latest mountain lion from the app store.
When it attempts to auto restart, it tells me it can't, because the very application I'm trying to upload is preventing the restart, even though I clicked the 'close applications' button.
I have googled this and not come up against an answer to this issue.
I am not very computer literate and have no idea what I should do?
Is there anyone out there who has experience of this and knows what to do when this happens.. and even why this happens?
Thank you in advance.

• LaunchDaemon canceling restart + other issues

I have an app I want to always run so I created a LaunchDaemon to keep it going:
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Label</key>
<string>com.sns.sentinel.air</string>
<key>KeepAlive</key>
<true/>
<key>ProgramArguments</key>
<array>
<string>sh</string>
<string>/Applications/oc4j/restartSentinel.sh</string>
</array>
<key>RunAtLoad</key>
<true/>
</dict>
</plist>
And restartSentinel.sh is very simple:
echo Process Sentinel.app is being restarted...
open -W /Applications/oc4j/j2ee/home/applications/Sentinel/Sentinel.app;
That's an adobe AIR application which does not launch a window but does show up in the dock. I tried to avoid that by setting it's Info.plist file with LSBackgroundOnly = true and LSUIElement = false but that didn't seem to work.
I also have another app running with almost the same format in its plist file only it calls a script which launches a jar file (which is an instance of an oc4j java server).
Everything seems to be fine but the AIR app seems to terminate on a reboot. The jar file runs fine, however. So I have another daemon which loads the AIR app a few minutes after a reboot and then the daemon runs fine. So that's the first problem.
Also, I have to access this machine via screen sharing. When I log in, the AIR app gets shut down and and then restarted by launchd. And that's the other issue. Even worse however is when another user logs in with screen sharing. The Sentinel.app daemon gets shut down and does not restart at all until I log in again.
The final issue occurs when you try to end your screen sharing session (via log out or restarting the machine). Launchd seems to cancel the restart/logout. Usually the message says that it's the java jar process that is cancelling logout. This one is the most severe of all the problems.
So how can I get launchd to let people use screen sharing without killing the app and how can I get it to stop canceling logot/restart?

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Profiles
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

• Application server restarts

Hi,
Whenever a change is made to OAF application, the E-Business appserver needs to be restarted. This creates problem because from the perspective of business users this is a downtime however small the downtime may be.
Even for profile changes to take effect, the app server has to be restarted.
Is there any methods or techniques like server architecture that would avoid or
circumvent the need to restart appserver whenever a small thing is changed in OAF? Or if this is not possible any other mechanism by which we can keep the users not kicked off of the system?
Your thoughts on this would be helpful.
Regards,
Arun

Arun,
A server restart is not required always. It depends on a case to case basis. For the case that you've mentioned (i.e. profile changes), it is not required as the DB invalidation should take care of reflecting the changes to all the middle-tiers. Please check if this patch is available and cache invalidation is working in your system.
If there are any other cases, do let us know.

• TS2537 Mail application cancels shutdown and refuses to quit

I am running OS 10.9 and I still have problems with the mail application. It often does not want to quit and cancels shutdown. Are there any suggestions out there?

Back up all data.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
2. Repeat with this line:
/Library/Mail/Bundles
This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

• Urgent: ias6.5 loses the deployed application when restarted

I have been trying to deploy an application to ias6.5 using the deployment tool , the application works fine until I restart the application server, it gives the "GX" socket error which I guess means that the application is not properly deployed.. please help

I've seen this happen before if component objects are stored in managed beans (e.g. using binding="#{someBean.foo}").
Problems like this can happen if the component is stored directly on the bean as a member variable (most commonly if the bean is application-scoped, session-scoped, or pageFlow-scoped but smaller scopes can exhibit the problem too).
Usually just referencing the components from the accessors on JSF event objects during an event handlers or using one of the various component searching APIs (e.g. findComponent) can suffice in locating the components dynamically.
However, if using one of those mechanisms isn't feasible you must use the ComponentReference as the storage mechanism (and follow the caveats noted in its JavaDoc):

Hope this helps,

• Mail application cancels shutdown-white screen on computer startup

When clicking a dock icon, it continues to bounce and will not open.  Then when I try to shutdown computer, I get the message that mail is stopping the computer from shutdown and needs to be force quit.  When I do this, the screen goes white for 15 minutes before it will shutdown. When I restart it, I get the white screen forever and must use the power button to turn it off and unplug it for 20 seconds and all is fine.  Doesn't happen everyday.  Not sure if it is related, but at times a screen keeps moving an inch or so from left to right again and again.  Must keep clicking the mouse to get it to stop.  imac, 2 years old, Mountain Lion

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.

Hey all, has anyone come across the following problem,
We are developing a larget scale Java app with a Swing client and J2EE backend. When the user closes the application I call System.exit(0); to kill the client.
If I want to restart the client I have to re-boot the machine, target PC is Windows 2000.
The client and server run in different VMs.
Any ideas?
We dont get the problem on our development machines, Win XP.

Hi Brian,
I create the views using a handler. Here's the execute method:
@Execute
public void execute(
@Named(PARAM_LIST_TYPE) String viewType,
final EPartService partService) {
// see also https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=372211
MPart myPart = partService.findPart(viewType);
if(myPart != null && myPart.isVisible()) {
log.debug("part is already created!");
partService.showPart(myPart,
PartState.VISIBLE);
} else {
myPart.setVisible(true);
// otherwise no content is rendered :-(
myPart.setToBeRendered(true);
partService.showPart(myPart,
PartState.ACTIVATE);

Does anybody face the following problem? Applications which worked properly before application server (WLS Release 11.1.1) restart change their behavior. Particularly, instead label text of arguments of entity objects pages display arguments original names like control hints had not been configured. Only after redeployment the same ear file applications return back to normal. It never happens on local JDeveloper (11.1.1.3) environment. I guess that something wrong in application server application.
