  • Disappointing Customer Relationship Management with V.6

With a few add in products plugging into the desktop software would it not have been helpful/appropriate to warn that existing add-ins might not be supported in V.6 prior to starting the upgrade?
I have just wasted several hours trying to find out why I'd lost my GoldMine/BlackBerry sync, downloading the old V.5 to downgrade, uninstalling 6 and re-installing 5. All for the sake of a simple warning message.
A good product spoilt for a lack of fore thought. With the market really tight due to heavy competition from iphone and andriod etc you would have thought that keeping current customers happy and loyal would be paramount.
Perhaps you would like to hire me for some CRM training?

  • PI 7.1 enterprise services: How to find & invoke SAP HCM enterprise Service

    Hi all,
in PI 7.1, i read, there is support of enterprice services.
is my current understandings right about PI 7.1 and enterprise services:
1.the standard BAPIs, standard RFC that were provided in R/3 are replaced by standard enterprise services in SAP ECC.
2.a nonSAP application can invoke an enterprise service in the same way as a nonSAP application used to call an RFC in the R/3.
I want to view how an enterprise service of any SAP module can be called by a nonSAP applicaiton.
are there any doc or blog which shows this.
    is possible with/wihout PI.
    We have follwoing things installed.
    1. PI 7.1 SP4.
    2. SAP ECC 6.0, i am dealing with SAP HCM module.
are there any enterprise services of HCM available (e.g standard enterprise services given by SAP for HCM module).
basically i want to test whether a nonSAP application like a java application, can it get some info using standard HCM enterprise services provided by SAP.
I explored esWorkplace (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/esworkplace), but it does not display HCM related process components under the column "DISCOVER ENTERPRISE SERVICES".

    Not that I know.
However, you can always import the definition of the enterprise services you need into SAP PI (XI).
On basis of these interfaces, you can generate the proxies for the necessary services.
You then have to add yourself the code inside of the proxies -> that's of course the biggest part of the work.
For that last effort, you can always check the standard SAP code in an ERP system where the services are available (can be the systems of the sdn ESW), but I'm affraid it will not be as simple as "cut & paste" ...
Note that we used the technique above for Enterprise Services enablement of customer's ERP systems (5.0 and 6.0 where -as for you- suppl. install was not possible).

  • WSDL of my SAP ERP 04 Enterprise Services

    Hi,
if i look at the WSDL Definitions of the Enterprise Services (mySAP ERP 04, http://esapreview.sap.com/socoview) there are no Endpoints etc. defined like in Web Service WSDLs. For example the Service CostCentreVarianceBudgetMonitoringRuleEvaluationResultByOwnerQueryResponse_In in Accounting (http://esapreview.sap.com/socoview(bD1kZSZjPTgwMCZkPW1pbg==)/
    get_wsdl.xml?id=72E160885A9911DA36BB000F20DAC9EF_wsdl_In&packageid=607955A13D5EC14C8A9405A7D7A37BE9).
In my opinion these interfaces look similarly how the WSDL definitions of message interfaces (XI).
How can i build models out of them e.g. in Web Dynpro Design Time ?
    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi Anton,
    thanks for your reply.
The Problem is that the WSDLs of these Enterprise Services are built on an other way. There's no <wsdl:import> tag with the Endpoint of the service. And at the end of the WSDL file there's a <ifw:properties> tag. The content of the <ifw> is quite similar to the <ifr:prpoerties> tag of a message interface from the XI.
So with this structure of the WSDL i'cant build any models.
    regards,
    Wolfgang

  • Which product for which Enterprise Services?

    Hi,
I try to test Enterprise Services with the Netweaver Sneak Preview Edition.
On the ES Workplace there are Enterprise Services documented mainly for four categories
    > mySAP ERP
    > mySAP Supply Chain Management
    > mySAP Supplier Relationship Management
    > mySAP Customer Relationship Management
Does this imply, that these four are the products, which are required to run the respective Enterprise Services?
Only two Enterprise Services are presented for the Business Solution Maps (Human Capital Management, and Supply Chain Managemnt only for Retail).
Is it in general possible to test Enterprise Services with the NetWeaver Sneak Preview Version? I cannot download the ES Addons, since a registration for the Service Market Place is required, here.
    Thank you for help,
    greetings, Rafael

Each SAP Product will deliver its set of Enterprise Services and act as Service Provider. Most of them will come from mySAP ERP as it's the mostly used product in the world.
You can consume Enterprise Service from Netweaver Sneak Preview (Java or Abap) as long as you have access to one mySAP ERP system which contains Enterprise Services.

  • Basic questions on Enterprise Services

    Hello,
I have a few open questions on the topic for myself and hope that you can help me to answer them:
    1) In my Systemlandscape I have several ECC 6.0 systems and a PI system. Now if I want to use a SAP standard webservice, let's say some of the customer fact sheet webservices.. what would be the procedure?
Would I need to identify which packages the content is in and then download these packages from SAP service marketplace? And has this to be done on PI side or on the backend side? Or both?
If I then want to use one of those standard webservices, e.g. "Find Customer Address Basic Data by Name and Address", where would the service call be directed to? To SAP PI or to the backend system?
    2) If I have a Webservice which should extract mass data, e.g. data about all customers - would this be a feasible web service scenario? Or a web services only used to extract single customers in general? I wonder about things like performance, timeouts, error handling, etc.
    3) Composition
What tool is at the moment used for composing web services? Is it some design tool on PI (BPM?) or is it rather Visual Composer on CE or even WebDynpro (ABAP or Java?)
I hope you can help me to clear up some of these questions.
    Best Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
    Answers to your questions:
Would I need to identify which packages the content is in and then download these packages from SAP service marketplace? And has this to be done on PI side or on the backend side? Or both?
You need to ensure that the content exists on both if you want to use SAP PI  to customize the SAP standard enterprise services & create proxies in the back-end (ECC). You could also just use the standard services as they come shipped from SAP, in that case you just need to ensure that the content exists in ECC.
If I then want to use one of those standard webservices, e.g. "Find Customer Address Basic Data by Name and Address", where would the service call be directed to? To SAP PI or to the backend system?
It depends how you set up your scenario. You could have the web service mediated through SAP PI or another ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) using different technology. In that case, the service call will be directed to SAP (or ESB) & then the back-end. You could also setup a point-to-point scenario where the service call is routed from the consumer straight to the back-end. Ultimately, the call has to reach the ECC back-end to process, what changes is what is put in betwwen the consumer & the ECC back-end.
If I have a Webservice which should extract mass data, e.g. data about all customers - would this be a feasible web service scenario? Or a web services only used to extract single customers in general? I wonder about things like performance, timeouts, error handling, etc.
I wouldn't recommend this kind of scenario when using web services. It would more relevant for maybe batch or asynchronous scenarios, also maybe mediated through SAP PI. All your concerns are valid.
What tool is at the moment used for composing web services? Is it some design tool on PI (BPM?) or is it rather Visual Composer on CE or even WebDynpro (ABAP or Java?)
This question isn't all that clear. For web services 'Composition' you can use the ESR (Enterprise Service Repository) that comes shipped with SAP PI or SAP CE. ccBPM in SAP PI is used for async messaging so that can't work for web services.
For 'Orchestration' of web services, SAP CE would be your preferred tool & you could also use Netweaver BPM that comes with CE to orchestrate several web service calls for a specific business process. This doesn't stop you from using anything else (like Java for example) to do your orchestration but you want the flexibility of being able to change a business process on the fly & SAP CE with BPM provides this.

  • Difference between  a WEB service and a Enterprise Service?

Can Anybody explain me the difference between  a WEB service and a Enterprise Service?

    Hi Anilkumar K Naidu ,
    Web service
A Web service is a self-contained, modularized functionality, which can be published, discovered, and accessed across a network using open standards and which is supported by SAP NetWeaver. Web services cover services provision for integration within an enterprise as well as cross enterprises on top of any communication technology stack, whether asynchronous or synchronous, in any format.
Web Services in the NetWeaver framework play an important role in facilitating the integration of disparate applications from various departments or trading partners and thus increasing business productivity. This benefit allows small and medium businesses also to integrate their business applications with larger trading partners. The benefit derived from this seamless integration introduces security concerns when all the business logic is now being exposed through a standard interface that is a catalyst for security vulnerabilities. SAP Security Managers must use automated diagnostics tools to ensure that the security vulnerabilities are caught in pre-production and in post-production phase.

    Enterprise Service
    Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA)
Enterprise SOA is a blueprint for an adaptable, flexible, and open IT architecture for developing services-based, enterprise-scale business solutions. With SAP NetWeaver as a technical foundation, enterprise SOA moves IT architectures to higher levels of adaptability – and moves companies closer to the vision of real-time enterprises by elevating Web services to an enterprise level.
An enterprise service is typically a series of Web services combined with business logic that can be accessed and used repeatedly to support a particular business process. Aggregating Web services into business-level enterprise services provides a more meaningful foundation for the task of automating enterprise-scale business scenarios.
