Application containing only resources and no run target

HI Gentlemen,
I have a set of web applications with XSQL sheets. These reference different subsets of stylesheets, and XML files as lookups from a large pool. Now it happens several times that a stylesheet or XML file is referenced in many different applications and it is physically placed in every corresponding project.
I would like to store them in only one copy at a central place. A possible solution would be XMLDB repository, but JDeveloper does not find them as resources.
Question: Is it possible to gather them in one application (or some kind of custom library or page etc.) together, so that I only have them occurring once? This would be very beneficial for later maintenance as well. The whole will then be deployed first in the integrated Weblogic server for porting some production server later.
Please try to find a way if there exists one.

Many thanks. The idea of a custom shared library is almost as good as using resources. I have only one problem: The library members are all standalone XML instances, a single tree each. That is, both stylesheet and lookups are at the moment XML/XSLT files. I could store them in an XMLTYPE table but how to get them into a library? And how to access the library members thru href=... from a JDeveloper XSQL page (the stylesheet), and from an XSL stylesheet (the lookups)? Referencing goes as XSQL -> stylesheet -> lookups.
Can you give me a hint?

          You don't write DTD file. It's in weblogic installation.
          You must write a web.xml file and weblogic.xml file. See how to do this in

Validation Rule - Should contain only alphabets and can be upto 4 characters long

Hi, I am using MDS 2012 and want to create a business rule for data validation which says,
"Should contain only alphabets and can be up to 4 characters long". How can I create such a rule in MDS? Also the Code and Name attributes are 250 characters by default. How to restrict them to 4 characters if business need them to be 4 or
less character?
Any help appreciated.

When creating a business rule, under Actions there is "Must be maximum length of" and "must contain patern".

Built Application containing VISA resource name control in Labview 7.1 not working

Very new to Labview (student). I built an application (my first)that uses VISA serial in Labview 7.1. The application contains a VISA resource name control. The program worked when silmulated, but not when built as app. When I removed this control from the application and made it a constant - the app worked. Any reason for this? A way around it perhaps? Would love an answer. I did make sure the Run-time engin is correctly installed and that it is not the problem. Thanks, Madri

CS 6 Crashes on launch, only PS and Flash run?

I have CS 4 installed on new iMac. Joined CC, downloaded all applications and only PS and Flash work. All others crash on launch with reports. Do I need to de-activate CS4?

I didn't set up a new user. WHY do I need to set up a new user? Do you think this will fix my problem?
Creating a new user account is an important diagnostic step.
It lets us make sure that the problem is not related to configuration files or caches assocaited with your current user account, which helps to narrow down a huge category of problems. Also, emperically it often provides a workaround for a large category of problems. You really should try it, it only takes a minute or two to test it.
It is not a "solution" per se, more of a diagnostic tool or a workaround.
Reviewing your crash report, I am not really sure what to say.
How long have you been running 10.7.4? It just came out, and I wonder if it is part of the problem.

And that means, if this is to be believed, the InDesign startup code (frame 8) is calling the libc exit() function, which then leads to the crash. But why would InDesign decide to exit deliberately? That seems odd.
Is there anything in Console.app?
Then exit() calls __cxa_finalize(), which calls the registered C++ exit handlers that various modules have registered. And the one inside InDesign’s PDF library calls out to AdobeBIB which then crashes. It doesn’t seem too shocking that the exit handler is causing a crash through -- the PDF library probably hasn’t finished initializing and the exit handler is assuming that it has been properly initialized. But it’s really moot -- the question is why the app is trying to exit at all.
And I have no good thoughts on this. Though I saw the same exact problem somewhere else (privately) this morning. Also 10.7.4. Which has me worried.

VMware Fusion suddenly hogging resources and fan running constantly

I have had my MacBook for about a year now and until 2 weeks ago had no problems with this issue before. Now suddenly, if I launch VMware Fusion (even not running any programs) the MacBook fan comes on and stays on. When I launch the Mac "Activity Monitor' App, sure enough VMware is hogging all the resources. I have added nothing to the XP side of things during this time. Any ideas on what might be happening as the constant fan 'on' issue is a pain and it FEELS like it's a drag on regular Mac performance. Thanks.

Is it possible that your Anti-Virus software (Not sure if you installed one) is performing a scheduled virus scan at bootup? Until that is finished, it will continue to attempt to start/finish the scan at boot up.

Cannot create APPLICATION container, only FOLDER

I installed Designer 6i (release 4.2) on an Oracle 8.1.7 database. All privileges seems to be correct, there are no invalid objects, version control is enabled.
In the Repository REPOS_MANAGER can only create Workareas and Folders (create child). No pop-up window is presented which would allow me to select "Application Systems" or "Folders" . It just creates a Folder without asking me.
This problem was also published on Metalink. The solution was to install the 'Repository Installation Scripts' again and reinstall the Repository. I tried this, without success...

The installation is already succeeded. I only installed the Core Repository objects. A second install of the Repository in the RAU with "Support for Oracle Designer Objects" checked, did solve my problem. Anyway, thanx!

When i try to down load the updated version of flash player it will only save and not run...please help

Can not down load up date for flash player..I tried removing my original flash player and this did not work...and now i have no flask player! A firefox window opens for down load and only reads "save" or "cancel" it does not have a "RUN" button. When I double click on the saved document it does not down load. Now what can I do??

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps to install Flash.

What programs does OS9 and classic run?

Primarily I use OS 10.3.9 but have OS9 and classic on my iMac from initial installation/purchase. Specifically, what programs/applications might the OS9 and classic run? If they are not programs I use, then I'll delete them and save the space. Thanks.

Hi, David. You should have a folder at the root level of your hard drive called "Applications (OS 9)", and it should contain most of your Classic applications: the ones that run in Classic mode, or when the computer is booted into OS 9 rather than OS X. You can remove them all by dragging that folder to the trash, but check first to make sure no valuable documents have accidentally been filed anywhere in that folder. If you're sure you'll never want to run Classic mode again, you can also dispose of the folder called "System Folder". To do so, first drag the file called "Finder" out of it onto the desktop, then restart your Mac, then trash the System Folder and the Finder file you moved previously, and finally, empty the Trash.
If you have a folder or alias at the root level of your hard drive called "Desktop (OS 9)", trash that too, after making sure once again that no valuable documents reside in it.
Be aware, though, that all of this OS 9-related stuff is only likely to occupy 1-2GB on your hard drive, so if you think you might ever want to use Classic or boot into OS 9 again, keeping OS 9 on your hard drive will cost you very little in storage space. But I'm sure you have some applications you don't use, and you can certainly jettison those.
Note that if you use the Find command in the OS X Finder and select "Kind...Is...Application" in the pull-down menus at the bottom of the Find window, you'll get a list of all the applications on your Mac. In the Kind column of the hit list, all the Classic applications will be listed as such, while all the OS X applications will be listed only as "Application". This can help to identify Clasic applications if they aren't all in the "Applications (OS 9)" folder — as is likely to be the case.

Help: Default Run Target??

Using 11g now, and Default Run Target seems to be gone! or I just can't find it... its launching using 127.0.0.1 but i need to to use a different ip address because I have code to restrict a specific ip address in the request just for added security. Can someone point me the right direction? It used to be in Tools > Project Properties... > Run/Debug/Profile > Edit (Default)

The default run target is now configured in JDev 11g via ViewController -> Project Properties -> Run/Debug/Profile -> Default -> Edit ....
Where on the Launch Settings - Default Run Target field you enter your default unbounded Task Flow:
ie: C:\JDevSandpit\Application4\ViewController\public_html\WEB-INF\adfc-config.xml
Then same dialog on the ADF Task Flow node, the Task Flow poplist should say (Unbounded Task Flow) and the View Activity drop down you select the page you're interested in.
In fact the first time you run the app from your adfc-config.xml unbounded task flow by selecting the diagram and run (without selecting a web page), it should ask and set this up for you anyhow.
I don't think this solves your problem however. Instead under the Application Navigator window see that there is an entry for IntegratedWLSConnection. Displaying it's properties reveals the server runs at 127.0.0.1. See if changing that value makes a difference when running (it does for me).

i have just install oracle 10g clusterware and oracle software on RHEL 5
only asm and vip is working fine ..rest of the resource not working status is unknown

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a iMac.
