Application Count of installed applications
I am trying to put together a Report or Query that will list all the software on the workstations under Add or Remove.
There is a report that comes with SCCM 2012 called "Count all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs" This does the job, but it lists for all of MS office applications. Rather then just Office 2010 SP1. This report bring up
over 115k for Office 2010. So I am assuming it picked up Word, PowerPoint etc.. Just want a report that will show me the count of how many people are using Office 2010, and other application out in the field with the correct name of the applications.
I am not quiet up to par in creating queries as of yet, work in progress. As anyone come up a report that does something like this.
Just tried the report called "Count all inventoried products and versions" ProductName says "Microsoft Windows Operating System" 12.0.7600.16385 count 5771.
Any help on this would be great, thank you.
Office is a special case, you can almost divide by two to the real results. That there is the rub, you can’t guarantee that.
If you want better results you need to look at 3<sup>rd</sup> party software.

If I buy a new hard drive, or format my current one and reinstall my OS and Adobe apps, will this count as installing on a 'second computer'? If so, how then do I go about ACTUALLY installing the apps on a second computer if I'm unable to 'de-register' the 'first' one because it was on an old hard drive?

Yes! you can simply go ahead and deactivate the product before wiping your hard drive. This would simply reset the counter back to 0 and you will be able to activate the product on the new machine as well .

EXHAUSTED!!! 25 DAYS AND COUNTING FOR INSTALL!
Well its got to the point where i think ive just about had it with BT im appalled by them now!!!up to now ive been kept well informed as to what's been going on without me having to ring them .Then Last Friday the day that finally i was gonna get my final appointment (the 4th appointment) i was told yet another excuse/reason as to why this wasn't going to happen and that it will take 48 hrs to sort, so tuesday will now be the day i get my appointment, i was then sent a text with a number and to call if it wasn't sorted by tuesday which is when they were suppose to ring me again with an update but i didn't get the call (the 1ST time)?
so i called the number i got texted and its the infinity call centre in Dundee well guess what? the problem still persists and that they sent a request but it still hasn't been answered so it could well be another 48 hrs until openreach respond, i asked for a manager to call me back because the person at the call centre was just not bothered atall about my situation and sounded uninterested,well that didn't happen either.
My MAC code runs out on the 20th that will be a month since i ordered, just over infact!!! i ordered 17th march.And just to add insult to injury my BT account states that the total order was complete on the 7th april(my 3rd appointment date)and they will be taking the 1st month broadband payment off me by DD on the 23rd april. I KNOW ITS HARD TO BELIEVE BUT ITS ALL TRUE!!!

My software applications were unexpectedly quitting ( I Tunes, page, skype) so I downloaded Lion OS 7. It took 48 hours to download and 18 hours to install (and counting) so i turned it off and on several times. All i get now is a screen with the Apple Icon asking for my password with option to switch off or restart. tried both but it just brings me back to the same screen

thanksWhen you decided to upgrade because you were having serious problems, you jumped from the frying pan into the fire. If the problem was the system, then reinstalling the current system is the way to go. But you had several application quiting, some from Apple and some not. so the quitting was something affecting all of them, and of course the system could be the culprit, but the system is not the only possible culprit. Replacing the system when it was not the problem only buries the problem under a whole new pile of problems.
Before reinstalling a system you need to make your Mac as trouble free as possible and back up as much as you can. There is a wide variety of problems that can affect many applications. Here is a short list:
Font problems. Use Font Book to verify your fonts. Delete or disable bad fonts.
Disk, permission, or cache corruption.
Incompatible Startup Items, Login Items, interface modifications or menu extras.
Corrupted preferences other than those of the affected applications. Check preferences system-wide using the freeware applications Preferential Treatment or AppleJack
Insufficient RAM or lack of free disk space.
Programming errors. Bugs in application code are not uncommon. For third-party applications, check the vendor's Web site for updates to the application, reports of known bugs, or for information on how to contact the vendor for support. A bad program might be grabbing up too much RAM and causing the other applications to fail as well.
Corrupted application. Check the logs to see where the crash occurred.
Other software problems or conflicts.
Corrupted Mac OS X installation. Perform an Archive and Install of your current Mac OS X.
Hardware problems. Run the Apple Hardware Test that came with your Mac.
Try to discover the culprit:
Open Console, located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
Check the Console and System logs for messages that may be related to the problem.
To open these logs, in Console choose File > Open, then choose:
Open Console Log and Open System Log
Messages in these logs are time stamped when the message was logged.
Scroll the log windows to the approximate time when the problem occurred.
Details of the messages may provide additional clues you use in troubleshooting.
Do not post an entire log to a forum. Post only the messages referring to the function or application causing a problem.
AppleJack is a free program you run in 'Single User Mode.' Install it. When you want to run it, press Command s until you get a black screen with text. Type 'applejack' and run the repairs. -
What is license count of installing or use O365 Pro plus software per user for Bussiness

Today in our office given demo of Office 365 usages and license details , but i am little bit confused on licensing.
They told we can use Office 365 Pro Plus software into 15 Device ( 5 Windows PC + 5 MAC + 5 Mobile or Tablets).

SCCM query to count missing and installed updates
Hi guys, I'm looking for a couple of queries. Hopefully someone can help me out.
The first, which is probably simpler; a query which will give me the count of missing updates and the count of installed updates for every machine that has 1 ore more update missing. I am not interested in the number of updates installed on a machine that
doesn't have any updates missing. Would also be good to know when the machine last reported in.
So something like this:
The second, I assume more complicated one; a query that will give me the count of missing updates but broken down into their classification (ie. critical, service packs, updates...) and a count of the installed updates.

A Suggestion For Those Who Can't Install Flash
Check out Microsoft Silverlight. I just came across it on the web. It downloads in minutes and it runs without problems. It play videos just like Flash and it is free. I am not familiar enough to say that it is a better player. It seems to be at least equivalent. The was only one notable difference: Installing flash, two weeks and counting. Installing Microsoft Silverlight, about five minutes.
If only I had found out sooner my garden would not be so overgrown in weeds.Are you saying that youb can play Flash objects with Silverlight?

Some of the representatives haven't been properly trained and don't know what to do (and claim there is nothing they can do);
in that case the only way seems to be to give up that chat and try another session hoping for a properly trained representative.
If your problem is with another device using Overdrive, Bluefire, Aldiko or similar third party app, it is recommended not to mention that app when on the chat, just mention that you have run out of authorizations (E_ACT_TOO_MANY_ACTIVATIONS) . Thanks to AJP_Bear for that tip. -
Itunes 7 displays incorrect Skip Count values
Using iTunes7,0 Mac and a 2GB 1st Gen iPod Nano
When I connect the nano, the skip count for songs that already have a (>1) skip count gets something like doubled.
For instance song X has a skip count equal to 8.
I connect the nano, then song X skip count now equals 16.
Looks like a bug no?
By the way, it seems that songs that I skip (within the 1" - 20" window) on the nano dont update their skip count in itunes, on the other hand, songs that I skip on my other G5 ipod have their skip count updated.Installed version 7,0,1

Wireless client on pentium 4 9i AS 1.0.2.2.2a

I've finally got the RDBMS and AS running on W2k on a P4, looking to develop a wireless application linked to an Oracle database. I installed the very latest version of the 9i As to counter the installing problems with P4's, I've gone to load the client software, service designer etc, it loads OK but won't run. A DOS window opens momentarily and then closes and thats it!
Anyone with any idea's or info please? Extremely urgent now.

I think I know the problem....check your environment settings in the batchfile of the service designer. Be sure to configure your Java runtime environment (JAVA_HOME). You can find the batchfile in:
ORACLE_HOME\iSuites\panama\ServiceDesigner\run.bat
For example...if the runtime environment is installed in c:\jdk131 then add the following line:

SCCM 2012 report/data for importing software metering rules..
Hi,
I have a customer who would like to start using software metering. The plan is to create the rules manually, since I guess it would be overkill and/or have an huge performance impact to enable it for all...? We might be talking about 100-300 applications.
To do it manually, a powershell script can be used for creating these based on a txt file containing the following information.
Productname, FileName, OrginalFileName, FileVersion
The customer has then asked for a report/csv file showing these information for all .exe files, so they can pick what they want to have metered. The data amount will for sure be huge and unmanageable.
Anyone has a good approach for this challenge? :-)

ThomasThe approach is to say NO, what they are asking for is huge in the range of 100,000 different exes, there is no way anyone will go the list. Instead, look at the build in report for count of installed software products and sort from largest count
to smallest. Then create SWM rules for those applications that have a cost and not everyone has. Aka why would you crate a SWM rule for WORD or EXCEL? But it does make sense to create a rule for Visio or AutoCAD.
Also why create a rule for two different version of Visio? Do you need it, why? Are you sure?

2 Questions That I Need Help With...
I'm in the process of reimporting some 3000 plus cds onto a new hard drive, after my last HD crashed. The files were retrieved for the most part, but I want to upgrade them to a higher bit rate on a different HD. Am doing it on same lappy that I began this ardous process. That lappy died on me, yet I was able to retrieve my original iTunes playlists and library (38k songs and counting) after installing 6.0.4.2 (I think my prior v. was 2-3 upgrades earlier.)
I've noticed however, that the CD info is set back to its original state; minus my customizing it. Each album I've imported, I list the artist's name in the album title; ex. Aaron Hall: The Truth. Additionally, CDDB has some of the most atrocious spelling mistakes this side of my posts (lol) which I corrected before I originally imported the cds, and now they are back to their atrocious state. Is there ay way to correct this, so I don't have to manually retype everything that I originally did. It's not just spellings that bother me, I have plenty of greatest hits and compilations that I spent hours and hours looking through my Billboard research books, Discogs, Allmusic, etc., trying to be as accurate as possible, and it really scares me now to know that I have to go back into the iTunes library to regather this data. (for some reason when I go from album screen back into my library scree, the library screen goes back to the full library, and not to the screen with the album I had just been looking at.)
Second, the screen that shows what cd is being readied to be imported shows 5 columns and has them so bunched up that I have to increase the width of several of them. Also, I have to go into the view options section in edit and add the year column which I insist on. But it never seems to keep that screen for all cds, meaning I have to go into edit to view options every time I import a cd. So basically, is there a way that I can customize that screen so the columns are a longer width and the year shows up each time, instead of having to do this each and every time I pop a cd into the drive to ready it?
Also, I apologize in advance for this being too wordy, and probably missing the letter N in some of the words. I forgot to tell the tech to fix that letter on my keyboard [rolls eyes]Syncing of playcounts and other stats can be a bit temperamental. Resetting the device may help. I'm afraid I don't follow the behavior of chapterized podcasts, but it is likely that it changed with the last firmware update and that is just the way it works now, assuming of course that the podcast producer hasn't changed their workflow.
